Bonjours à tous, j'ai 18 ans et cet été je vais voir un ami à Charlotte (Caroline du Nord) au mois d'aout
Je suis déjà parti le voir mais là le billet d'avion a augmenté de 200€. Du coup je me suis dit que ça pourrait être plus avantageux de prendre un aller retour pour New York et de rejoindre Charlotte par le bus.
Donc première question : est-ce que le bus ou le car est un bon moyen et pas trop cher pour voyager sur la cote Est
ensuite, comme je passe des concours l'an prochain avec des entretiens, je me suis dit qu'une expérience de travail pourrait m'être utile. Je me suis un peu renseigné et j'ai l'impression que c'est très dur de trouver un travail la-bas et surtout la greencard. Mais mon prof m'a dit qu'on pouvait assez facilement trouver des petits jobs dans des cafés ou restaurants en servant des petits déjeuners par exemple car apparement les new-yorkais prennent pas mal les petits déjeuners. Ou sinon travailler dans un petit restaurant. Est-ce que vous pensez que c'est envisagable ou plutôt assez dur de trouver ? Surtout pour une période de l'ordre de quelques semaines, je ne compte pas travailler 2 mois à New-York. Y-a t'il des quartiers où il est plus facile de trouver ?
Sinon est-ce que vous pensez que c'est possible de travailler facilement comme bénévole dans une association type ONG ?
Voilà donc si vous avez quelques éléments de réponses, que vous avez déjà utilisé les bus entre Etats ou que vous avez déjà été travailler de quelconque façon à N-Y je vous remercierais de m'aider.

Pour faire NYC -> Charlotte sans changement de bus (Greyhound), compte entre 16 et 17h de bus. Ca te coutera entre 59$ et 118$ l'aller simple selon le mode d'achat et le type de ticket. En train, le trajet dure entre 12 et 14h pour un tarif qui va de 100$ à 125$ l'aller simple en place assise ou 200$ en couchette.
Tu peux trouver un vol direct pour +-80€ entre Charlotte et NYC...
La carte verte n'est pas faite pour des petits boulots. Effectivement, elle est (très) difficile à obtenir mais de toute façon même une fois cela fait, il faut résider au moins 6 mois par an aux EU et remplir d'autres conditions.
Pour un job d'été, il faut un visa J1 qui s'obtient avant de partir à l'ambassade à Paris.
mais est-ce que tu sais s'il est facile d'obtenir ce visa J1 où s'il faut avoir déjà un employeur là-bas, si c'est trop tard déjà pour cet été, ...
et est-ce que tu sais si même avec ce visa on peut trouver du travail pour par exemple 2 semaines où si c'est plutôt assez rare de trouver un employeur dans ces conditions ? parce que je crois qu'au Etats-Unis c'est pas comme en France où on peut travailler 2 semaines l'été, ils prennent plutôt pour un mois ou deux. Mais je me pose un peu la question pour New York pour un petit boulot comme serveur.
Pour pouvoir partir début juillet, il faudrait que tu ais trouvé ton job d'ici fin avril car ça prend plusieurs semaines d'obtenir le visa J1. Ce visa coute cher: +-800€.
Dans la plupart des cas, tu dois avoir trouvé ton employeur avant de partir mais certains organismes proposent un visa J1 où tu as 30 jours sur place pour trouver un job et si ce n'est pas le cas, retour en France. Mais bon, si tu veux y travailler 2 semaines c'est pas l'idéal.
Sinon, ce n'est pas facile de trouver sur place car si tu n'as pas de statut légal beaucoup d'employeurs refuseront d'étudier ta candidature et souvent, ils préfèrent employer un local car moins de démarches à faire.

donc en gros, si je débarque à N-Y sans aucun visa spécial, j'ai quand même peu de chances de trouver un petit boulot en allant proposer mes services à des cafés par exemple

Our departure time is getting closer (we have less than 2 years left—it’s both a long time and so short!). To start preparing seriously, we’ll need quite a bit of info. If anyone knows the rates charged by movers for a crate to French Polynesia, or what pitfalls to avoid (I know you can get quotes directly from movers, but I’d love insights from actual customers😉).
