J'ai un BTS dans le domaine des énergies renouvelables et l'année dernière j'ai repris mes études en commençant une licence d'anglais à l'université. À terme je souhaite devenir professeur d'histoire et de français aux USA et dans le but d'augmenter mes chances d'obtenir ma licence sans repiquer une année (j'ai 30ans donc une année perdue ça compte dans mon cas) je souhaiterai aller travailler pour une année aux États-Unis.
Je suis passionné et pratiquant de vélo de montagne et j'ai tout naturellement contacté des magasins de vélos là bas et j'ai eu des réponses favorables, je parle français et cela est utile dans ce domaine, assez pour justifier l'embauche d'un français comme moi. J'ai déjà travailler dans ce domaine en France avec des CDD durant l'été entre 16 et 20ans.
Le problème c'est que je ne sais pas quel à quel VISA j'ai droit. Le visa J1 serait l'idéal mais on m'a fait comprendre que je dois impérativement trouvé un emploi dans le domaine de ma formation actuelle: traducteur. C'est un peu décourageant surtout quand un employeur est prêt à vous prendre mais que le type de visa auquel s'applique mon embauche est flou.
En cas de J1 c'est assez facile au niveau administratif, mais si je dois passer par un visa H1B c'est contraignant et avec seulement un bts cela ne donne pas l'équivalent du bachelor's degree pour être éligible au H1B.
Le visa J-1 c'est pour les stages et les échanges. Il ne permet pas d'enseigner sauf si échange entre 2 fac et encore. MYOS pourra t'eclaircir à ce sujet.
C'est un H1B qu'il te faut. Aussi, beaucoup d'expérience professionnelle dans le domaine de l'enseignement...et un bachelor, impératif !! On n'enseigne pas avec un BTS, d'autant plus que ce diplôme n'a pas de signification aux États Unis.
Je connais une Américaine (amie personnelle) qui etait prof de math aux États-Unis. Elle m'a dit que tous les profs d'histoire (et les cours reliés aux sciences humaines) ont plus de mal à trouver que les profs de sciences.

En fait je souhaite mettre en pause ma licence d'anglais pour 2012-2013, travailler aux USA 1 an pour améliorer encore mon anglais en rendant les deux prochaines années de licence le plus facile possible tout en travaillant à côté.
Je me rends compte hélas que le H1B sera difficile à obtenir avec mon niveau d'études actuel pour travailler aux USA, avant de lancer le plan B pour un working holidays visa en nouvelle-zélande je voudrais être sûr de tout essayer pour partir aux États-Unis.

Super merci bien, je pensais avoir fait le plus difficile en trouvant du travail mais en fait que neni surtout face à la pléthore d'information sur le sujet mais le site que tu m'as donné en lien est assez complet.
Il va falloir que j'y jette un œil, j'espère pouvoir trouver quelque chose dans une Amérique la plus "authentique" possible.
Les personnes sur ce site VF sont surtout des gens qui veulent programmer leur voyage aux USA. Je crois que tu auras plus de chance sur un site d'expatriés.
Tu n'as pas le bon diplôme pour un H1B.
SI JAMAIS l'employeur que tu as trouvé est prêt, LUI, à te sponsoriser pour un J-1 en expliquant que c'est un stage en rapport avec tes études -
et si tu étais en BTS lié à la nature, transports, etc, tu peux montrer le rapport ET attention, une licence d'anglais ça n'a rien à voir avec des études de traduction.
Es-tu en L1 ou L3 d'anglais?
Si tu veux être prof d'anglais et de français aux US, tu vas devoir, à la fac:
- en L3, faire la mention FLE et y obtenir d'excellents résultats
- suivre des cours d'histoire de France en cours optionnels
- suivre un cours de littérature française et y obtenir une note correcte
- en plus des cours d'anglais
Il y a des programmes américains de Master spécialisés dans les questions d'histoire des idées en France, pour être prof de français et histoire, mais il faut avoir un M1 ou postuler l'année de son M1: NYU (mais attention, peu de bourses, donc il faut avoir beaucoup d'argent), Rice, Penn State, UVA...
Une autre solution: tu passes un concours de PLP lettres-histoire ou anglais-histoire et après 3 ans d'exercices tu fais le "mouvement" CODOFIL et tu es nommé pour 2-3 ans en Louisiane, salaire de base autour de $45,000/an. Ils sont très demandeurs car les conditions sont quand même difficiles.
Ceci dit, ATTENTION:
le français est une langue quasi-morte dans un bon nombre d'endroits - il y a eu des milliers de profs de langues qui ont perdu leur travail à cause de la crise (les profs américains ne sont pas fonctionnaires) et entre espagnol et français, c'est le prof de français qui prend la porte. Donc, il y a beaucoup de profs de français et peu de postes. Et pour être recruté aux Etats-Unis, il faut avoir enseigné 3 ans (le processus de pré-recrutement mis en place par le gouvernement compte - tu sais: tu as une bourse, tu travailles dans un collège en tant qu'assistant, et tu reçois environ 900 euros par mois, à condition de t'engager à passer un concours d'enseignement).
Personnellement, en dehors de l'emploi que tu as trouvé, je te conseillerais le PVT, et ensuite d'obtenir la licence avec mention, l'option FLE, et les cours supplémentaires. Et alors seulement, en M1, de décider si tu veux vraiment faire un Master là-bas pour y être prof.

My name is Deborah, I’m French. I’m married and have two children. I’m a clinical psychologist specializing in psychotraumatology, and I’m also pursuing medical studies.
