Hi everyone, do you have any suggestions for a night in Santorini? I’ll be in transit at the end of June, coming from Amorgos to catch my flight back to Lyon the next morning. If possible, what are the transport options to get from the port and then to the airport the following day? Thanks in advance!

Hi there,

I don’t have a hotel to recommend, but all the buses from the port and the buses to the airport leave from Fira. So the best thing is to find a hotel there.

For bus schedules to the airport the next day, check here: https://ktel-santorini.gr/index.php/en/?option=com_fabrik&view=list&listid=15&Itemid=932&timetable_summer___destination_id_s_raw=5

Prices in Santorini have dropped due to the earthquakes in February. There’s been a 35% drop in visitors.

Thanks, Elenitsa. I’d heard prices had dropped, but I found a hotel, Anatolia, that a friend recommended at 91 € (with the option to cancel 15 days before). That seems really expensive to me—that’s why I was asking. Plus, they charge 25 € to pick me up at the port and 20 € to take me to the airport the next day! On top of that, if I can do the trips by bus, that’d work better for me. I’ll look for another hotel! Thanks again.

Hello

91 € for Santorini at the end of June is VERY cheap—it’s actually a great price!!! Even though prices have dropped, Santorini is still super touristy. They also take advantage of people like you who take a flight from Santorini to avoid going back through Athens, and hotel prices inflate because everyone on your flight (and all the other morning flights!) will also be staying in Santorini the night before.

Given the hotel prices on the island and the cost of transfers, you lose all the savings from taking a low-cost flight out of Santorini.

Hello, thanks for replying! I’m not really sure about the prices these days! I went to Santorini quite a few years ago, and I’m sure a lot has changed since then... If I stop in Santorini on my way to Amorgos, it’s to avoid too much fatigue—I’m getting on in years, but the urge to travel is still very much alive 😉. I’ll still check if this hotel isn’t too far from the bus station. Have a great day! Marie.

Yes, things have really changed. Especially since low-cost airlines started flying directly to Santorini. In peak season, for example, there are 3 direct flights from Paris every day!! Not to mention flights from other regions in France and, of course, from Italy, Germany, the UK, etc. That’s a lot of people, and the locals have definitely caught on.

Have a great trip!
