Voilà le voyage que nous envisageons. Acutellement j'ai juste réservé l'avion Paris-Bangkok A/R. Pour le reste j'attend d'être sûre du périple, est-t-il réalisable ? en temps surtout et en budget, les avions sont-ils à l'heure ou souvent en retard. N'ai-je pas prévu trop ? est-ce raisonnable de louer des scooters ?
Budget 1800 €/pers.
J'attend vos impressions, critiques ou louanges au choix, enfin bref votre avis. Merci d'avance, tout est constructif alors n'hésitez-pas.
Ahh dernière question, pour diminuer le budget nous envisageons de prendre un taxi plutot que l'avion pour faire Bangkok-siem reap avec changement à la frontière, apparement la route a été refaite de la frontière à Siem reap, qu'en pensez-vous ? bon evidemment cela ferait encore 6 heures de voiture après 14H d'avion, peut-être que ce n'est pas raisonnable ? le voyage est court 12 Jours pour tout.

Trois quatre jours pour le Cambodge, c'est un peu court, et comme votre séjour est sans doute inextensible, pourquoi ne pes se limiter à la Thaïlande ce coup ci et revenir une autre fois pour faire davantage commaissance avec le Cambodge ?

quel itinéraire ! et merci pour la pollution, vous ne prenez que l'avion, et ne pensez qu'a faire des Kms et gagner du temps, sans vous soucier de la relation humaine, c'est une drôle de façon de voyager. Je préfère le contact humain aux KMS. Ceci dit, le 31 janvier nous partons aussi pour la thalilande, Gambodge, nous le ferons en bus, c'est très facile, nous prenons un bus de nuit très confortable voire le train avec couchettes, on se met au rythme du pays avec les sourires et les difficultés que l'on peut rencontrer et l'on regarde et l'on hume, et l'on respire, et l'on se dépayse, et l'on parlera, et l'on se souviendra... et si l'on à pas tout vu et bien nous reviendronq...

Désolée, chacun voyage comme il veut, je ne vous ai pas demandé un commentaire sur la polution. Et qui vous dit qu'on ne se souci pas de la relation humaine, voilà un jugement bien hatif !!! L'avion c'est juste un gain de temps, cela nous permet de faire + de chose en - de temps. Nous ne voyageons pas souvent alors nous voulons en profiter un maximum. Si vous voulez humer la poussière, avoir des douleurs de dos...etc.. c'est comme vous voulez mais évitons de jugez, merci. Votre commentaire va me servir énormément..!

Vu que vous ne partez que pour 12 jours, je ne pense pas que le taxi soit si opportun : d'une part, Bangkok jusqu'à Aranyaprathet ce n'est pas forcément donné, en plus il vous faudra passer la frontière à pied avec vos bagages (environ 200 mètres à parcourir à pied entre le poste frontière d'Aranyaprathet et Poipet au Cambodge) et reprendre un taxi au Cambodge. Le tronçon Poipet-Siem Reap a été remis à neuf (je l'ai emprunté l'été dernier) mais il faut bien compter 1h30 pour arriver jusqu'à Siem Reap en partant de Poipet. Donc 6h de trajet pour économiser quelques centaines d'euros, à vous de voir si ça en vaut la chandelle.

En effet, la plupart des messages laissés par des français sur ce forum sont édifiants: Ce ne sont plus des vacances, mais de vrais marathons... Pourquoi vous faut-il absolument vous acharner à vouloir tout voir en si peu de temps ? N'avez-vous jamais envie de déguster un plat de fruits de mer, ou de siroter un bon cocktail, au soleil couchant, sur une plage frangée de cocotiers, la mer légèrement agitée par une petite brise, avec pour seul bruit le ressac des vagues sur le sable ?... Moi, dans ces circonstances, j'ai l'impression que le temps s'est arrêté et je prends alors pleinement le temps de VIVRE !

Ce que dit Chrismi est pertinent, 4 heures de battement ça peut être juste en cas d'imprévu sachant que vous devez récupérer vos bagages en provenance de Samui et ensuite aller vous enregistrer pour le vol retour : vous ne serez pas les seuls. Il y a en général beaucoup de gens en partance de BKK vers Paris, sur plusieurs voyages, j'ai attendu en moyenne 45 min / 1h pour check-in alors que je ne suis pas du genre à arriver au dernier moment. Pour peu que votre vol ait du retard (c'est pas tout le temps, mais si c'est pas votre jour de chance niveau météo, et bien...), gros coup de stress possible à Suvarnabhumi.
Vous pouvez enregistrer directement vos bagages à Kho Samui pour Paris via Bangkok.
Nous avons fait cela en août 2009: compagnie Bangkok Airways pour le trajet Samui-Bangkok puis compagnie Finnair à 00:15 pour le vol Bangkok -Helsinki-Paris mais nous avions pris un vol à 17:20 au départ de Samui arrivée Bangkok 18:25 et pas de problème les bagages ont suivi jusqu'à Paris...Il faut mieux prévoir large quand même pour le changement d'avion à Bangkok.
Sinon une solution: une nuit à Bangkok avant de repartir vers Paris et faire par exemple le marché de nuit près du parc Lumpini , une ballade sur les klongs le lendemain ainsi que la visite de la maison de Jim Thomson par exemple à défaut de visiter le grand palais...
Par contre pour Air Egypt essayez de savoir si c'est possible de faire l'enregistrement à Samui.
En faisant enregistrer les bagages à Samui l'hôtesse nous a demandé si nous poursuivions notre voyage après Bangkok , nous lui avons présenté nos billets pour Paris, elle a donc fait le nécessaire pour l'enregistrement vers paris et nous a donné les cartes d'accès à bord pour le vol vers Bangkok et celles du vol vers Paris.
Comme d'hab, certains grands voyageurs se font un plaisir de critiquer les petits que nous sommes!
J'ai presque le même itinéraire que toi, 12 jours du 12/02 au 24/02.
Nous arrivons à Bangkok le 13 ou nous passerons 2 nuits, pour ensuite rejoindre Samui ( 5 nuits) , Siem Reap pour visiter Angkor, and back home.
C'est difficile de faire un choix lorsque les jours sont comptés mais nous ne pouvons pas faire autrement, comme toi aussi je suppose. Je me réjouis de visiter Angkor et Bangkok et de relaxer a Samui, ça va être un super voyage.
Je n'ai toujours pas de billets internes, et je me demande s'il n'est pas mieux de les prendre sur place a Bangkok...

Je suis content que Jay66 ait trouvé ma réponse pertinente, car je n'ai pas voulu te refroidir
de trop, un de mes amis, avec qui j'avais r.d.v à BGK pour rentrer sur Paris a attendu toute
la journèe à Samui pour pouvoir décoller a cause de la pluie , mais c'était en novembre, et
Thai Airways ne prenait pas de risques suite au crach qu'il y avait eu précedemment, a cause
des intempéries.
En même temps, le but de prendre l'avion est de gagner du temps... et pas de le perdre en attente dans les aéroports ! mais pour le retour Bangkok-Paris je ne vais pas prendre de risque, je prendrai donc le vol Samui-bangkok de 19h00 avec une arrivée à 19H45 (si tout va bien), mon vol international Bangkok-paris étant à 00H45 je pense que ça va le faire... Par contre j'ai pris 2H00 de marge uniquement pour les vols intérieurs, est-ce suffisant ? Donc pour le Bangkok-siem reap (à l'arrivé après le vole paris-bangkok) et ensuite pour le bangkok-samui (après le siem-reap-bangkok)...

Contente de trouver quelqu'un qui a le même itinéraire, je commençais à désespérer. Je constate que ton départ est pour bientot. Combien de nuits passes-tu à siem reap ? et où loges-tu ? Pour les bons plans, je ne vais pas vraiment en avoir malheureusement par contre les billets d'avion je pense les réserver par internet en avance car j'ai trop peur que les avions soit complet (nous sommes 6), même s'il y a apparemment des packages intéressant pour Angkor avec avion+hotel à 15000 baths/pers pour 2-3 nuits que l'on peut réserver sur place dans une agence.
Ce qui m'angoisse le + , je crois que ce sont les avions, je n'ai pas envie de passer tout mon temps dans les aéroports...c'est pas le but.
Grâce à ce forum, il y a beaucoup d'infos et d'ailleurs je remercie vraiment tout ceux qui prennent le temps pour m'aider...
Ahh oui j'allais oublier pour l'hotel à angkor, nous descendrons je pense au Pavillon Indochine, il a l'air vraiment bien. Koh samui je ne sais pas, dans le coin de Bophut je pense, je prospecte pour l'instant. En tous cas tiens -moi au courant de ta préparation, infos...etc... et quand tu rendres, viens donc nous raconter...

3/4 d'heure a la douane, donc de la descente de l'avion+attente douane+récupération des
bagages , en tout près de 1H 15

nous nous avons choisi de faire: arrivée à bangkok le 13/02 à 15h40, nous partons directement à siem reap avec bangkok airways à 18h40, nous y passons une semaine puis nous nous rendons à koh chang une semaine par voir terrestre et pour le retour nous partons de trat à 18h30 arrivée à 19h40 pour un vol par la suite bangkok londres à 00h30, nous avons préféré réserver les vols en avance car cette année nous sommes pris par le temps que 15 jours donc au moins on est tranquille
j'ai une autre question, peut-on prendre un autre avion que celui de sa réservation. J'arrive à Bangkok à 12H20, j'ai une résa. pour le vol bangkok-siem reap à 17h00, puis-je prendre celui de 15h00 sur place. c'est clair ce que je dis ou pas ?? j'ai un doute là...
oui c'est possible tu vas au comptoir et tu demandes s'il reste des places, si cest le cas ils te font le changement gratuitement, on l'a fait l'an dernier
Nous avons prévu 3 nuits a Siem Reap, je pense que c'est suffisant pour visiter Angkor.
J'ai une réservation a la Villa Loti (44 USD ) qui a l'air très bien, mais je ne sais pas si c'est bien placé.
Mon gros souci reste les billets d'avion! Galère. Pour Samui Bangkok Air me facture 9010 thb!!! Il parait que c'est tres cher. Je ne trouve rien d'autre. J'en profite pour faire un appel aux "pros", comment faire pour avoir un tarif sympa de bangkok a Samui!! on me déconseille de prendre le risque d'acheter les billets a Bangkok à l'arrivée, sans doute plus cher encore parait-il. Je n'ai donc toujours pas de billets internes ( Samui et Siem Reap) et je commence à angoisser un ptit peu...

Je comprends tout à fait que tu ais à jongler avec des contraintes de temps;
cependant de part ma petite expérience ( j'ai vécu 1 an au Cambodge et suis allé visiter la Thailande durant une quinzaine) j'aimerais que tu évites l'erreur que l'on fait tous en arrivant en Asie à savoir : "garder notre mentalité et surtout nos habitudes et exigences d'occidentaux".
En Asie il faut s'abandonner au temps, oublier un tant soit peu sa montre, ne pas s'accabler d'un programme surchargé au timing hyper serré.
Ceci car on se heurterait, le cas échéant, à ce fameux "choc des cultures".
Et se mur que l'on se prendrait en pleine poire ne ferait que laisser un goût amer à un séjour, qui, si l'on avait su l'alléger ( moins de sites, ...), aurait pu nous dévoiler en partie les charmes du sud est asiatique.
Mais également prendre le temps d'aller à la rencontre du peuple du pays que l'on traverse.Et ceci afin que les souvenirs de nos rencontres avec les autochtones ne se résument pas aux trop rares et brefs échangent que l'on aurait eu avec le personnel de l'aéroport, celui de son hôtel, le guide qui nous a fait visiter les temples d'Angkor, ...
Aller à la rencontre des gens. Même si l'on ne parle pas la même langue.
Il suffit parfois d'un sourire...
N'oublies pas que le trésor du Cambodge n'est pas Angkor Wat mais bien le peuple Khmer!

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:
- Is it possible to rent a car in Danang and drop it off in Hanoi?

I’m struggling to wrap up the end of my itinerary, even though it’s pretty straightforward (long but simple).
Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.
Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous.
I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing.
I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture.
But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary.
If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.
For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

If you’ve had the experience—and since I’ve read (though it’s not very clear) that these two islands get quite crowded during this period—would you recommend booking accommodation well in advance, or is it easy to find something on the spot?

We’re heading to Vietnam as a family on July 8th for a little over 3 weeks (north and center). We’ve only booked the first 3 nights in Hanoi, and nothing else after that. We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. What do the experts here think? And which website can we use to book the tickets? Thanks in advance for your tips!

I’m heading back to Thailand in July 2026 with a stopover in Cambodia to visit the Angkor site.
After Angkor, I’ve booked a stay on Ko Chang island. Does anyone know if there are direct transport options from Cambodia to Ko Chang without having to go back through Bangkok? That would be amazing!!
I think there are, but I’d need more details!!
I went to Thailand in February 2025 and don’t remember having to apply for a visa—is that still the case now? And for Cambodia too?

I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

For our Bangkok-Sukhothai trips, I use a company I’ve already tried, but they don’t have a fleet available from Sukhothai and have to go through third-party companies—which, understandably, take their commission. This nearly doubles the prices...

No app for this one—you just hop on bus #14 at the local terminal (pay cash on board). But where do I catch it, and where’s the stop??

From what I’ve heard, it’s the Sida Express company (great name, right? 😄).
Can’t book online, but apparently, you *have* to because there’s only one bus at 8 AM.

My girlfriend and I booked our tickets with Saudia Airlines for a trip to Thailand this summer, from July 5th to August 3rd. Given the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, we’re keeping a close eye on the news.

• Have you heard anything about possible mass cancellations or if the airline is still maintaining its routes to Asia?
• Are there any travelers who’ve recently returned who could tell us if air corridors have been changed (longer flight times)?

August 8: Early departure with a private driver to Ampana, then ferry to the Togian Islands
August 9–15: Togian Islands (2 different resorts)

August 16: Flight Luwuk to Makassar

I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.
But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal...

Family of 4—2 adults and 2 kids (11 and 15) who are well-traveled.
We’re planning a 15-day trip to Indonesia and would love your thoughts on our itinerary.
We love discovering local culture, food (!!), seeing beautiful landscapes, and keeping an active pace. We’re not the type to lounge on the beach for 5 hours or spend ages by the pool when we’re halfway across the world. Also, we try to avoid places "ruined" by mass tourism (like Holbox in Mexico, which we loved 10 years ago but not at all on our last visit, or Phi Phi in Thailand, completely destroyed by mass tourism).
Special note: we love traveling by train :)
