Bon je ne suis pas médecin mais j'ai vu le mien ce matin même pour un voyage Thai Cambodge, pour le Palu il m'a également prescrit Malarone, mais pas du tout comme ça.
Je dois le prendre la veille puis tout au long du sejour sur la zone a risque ainsi que pendant 1 semaine après. De mémoire pour mon dernier voyage en Thai en 2006 :même topo.

L'attitude de votre médecin est parfaitement juste. Pour le Cambodge il n'est pas nécessaire de prendre un médicament de manière systématique. Il faut cependant tâcher de voir un médecin si vous êtes malade pour confirmer la malaria. Une fièvre peut être la manifestation d'autres maladies.Cependant si vous ne pouvez pas trouver un médecin dans les 48h du début de la T° alors il faut quand même prendre le traitement de Malarone de votre propre chef ( 4cp/j en 1 prise pendant 3j). L'incubation de la malaria est de 8j minimum, donc un état fébrile survenant moins de 8 jours après votre arrivée n'est pas une malaria.Par contre il reste impératif de se protéger des piqûres de moustiques, 24h/24, étant donné aussi le risque de dengue, propagée par d'autres moustiques.

Je serai en ASE pendant 3 mois. J'ai rejeté la prise de Malarone durant tout ce temps. Le médecin nous a remis une prescription de quinine en cas de malaria.
C'est normal de ne pas prendre de la Malarone sur une aussi longue période. Par contre je suis étonnée par la prescription de quinine.. A prendre par la bouche? En Europe on l'utilise en intraveineineux dans les formes graves, mais par la bouche c'est Lariam, Riamet et Malarone ( pour les formes provenant d'Asie ou d'Afrique).

Je pense que comme vous allez en saison sèche il ne devrait pas y avoir de problème. Moi j'étais au Cambodge en juillet et comme c'est la saison des pluies donc plus de risque de moustiques, je l'ai pris chaque jour.
J'ai fait le petit tour des temples à Angkor à vélo, c'est très facile et c'est sympa.
Je reviens du Cambodge il y a 8 jours, c'est la saison sèche et de plus il faisait relativement froid la nuit (période des moustiques porteurs de la malaria) nous avions emporté de la Malarone , non pour Kep, Kompot ou Koh Rong ou les risques sont quasi nuls mais pour les treks dans la foret des cardamomes. Après 2 jours de prise de ces comprimés nous avons arrêté : pas de moustiques en vue.
Nous avons couché en fin de séjour 3 nuits près d'une rivière et pas de moustiques.
Pour moi suivez les conseils donnés, emporter votre Malarone et si vous éprouvez une crainte commencez le traitement sachant que ni à P;Penh, Kep, Sihanoukville vous n'avez de menace à cette période. Seule problématique : Koh Rong à voir sur place.

Je suis allé 14 fois au Cambodge, et à chaque fois j'ai pris la Malarone. ( 1c la veille de partir, ensuite 1c chaque jour et 1 c pendant une semaine au retour) Cette prescription est faite par un service de médecine tropicale, qui recommande ce traitement . Le Cambodge étant dans une zone à risque la plus élevée.
La protection est indispensable me semble -t-il?
A près chacun fait ce qu'il veut.... libre choix!

Ca dépend de ton budget et souhait. Je n'ai fait que Siem Reap (1 semaine) et je me suis fait un petit plaisir au ANGKOR SPIRIT PALACE la chambre coûte dans les 30$, c'est un bel endroit avec piscine à l'écart du bruit de la "Pub Street".
Pour ma part je réserve presque toujours avant mon départ surtout pour
les séjours courts 15j / 3 semaines afin de ne pas perdre de temps en recherche
de logement en arrivant à destination.
Pour Phnom Penh j'aime bien le quartier au Nord du Palais Royal ou à l'Ouest car tres vivant et nombreux marchés. Ce mois j'étais au sud du Bd Sihanouk, bien mais
un peu loin à pied (30/40') du centre vivant. Touk Touk 2 USD.
Kep nous étions au Kep Lodge sur la colline, tranquille à 30' à pied du marché aux crabes et restos, Bcp d'hotels ou GH sur la colline sinon si vous aimez la plage il y a des hotels sur Kep Beach.
Pour Kompot cela est concentré au sud du monument Durian ou rond point de l'Obélisque dans un rayon de 400m Sihanouk ville : la vie est concentrée au sud de la place aux lions d'or. surtout en descendant vers serendipity beach pour hotels et GH. Idem si vous souhaitez calme et tranquillité changez de plage. Nous n'avions qu'une nuit et avons été sur Indépendance Beach.
Koh Rong nous n'avons pu y aller mais avions sélectionné le Paradise bungalows,
Siem Reap : à L'Est de la rivière Siem Reap entre Airport Rd et Makara Street un grand choix de logements de toutes catégories.
Désolé de ce manque de précisions ne connaissant ni vos gouts ni le budget que vous voulez consacrer au logement. A disposition.

We're about to go on an organized trip to South Africa, including Kruger Park. We were told that Malarone should preferably be taken in the evening at the same time during a meal. But it's hard to know what time we'll have dinner, especially since I've read that in South Africa, dinner is usually around 6 PM.
I'd love to hear from people who've been on organized trips to this destination and could share their experience. We were thinking of taking Malarone around 7:30 PM, assuming dinner would be closer to 7 PM than 6 PM. Also, if the meal ends up being earlier or later than when we take the pill, would a cookie or a piece of bread be enough to take with Malarone?
I’m planning to set off on a "round-the-world" trip/long journey at the start of next year, lasting between 4.5 and 6 months. For now, the itinerary looks like this: South Korea (2 weeks) -> Japan (1 month) -> New Zealand (1 month) -> Argentina (1 month) -> United States (1 month).
I’m on medication (paroxetine 20 mg/day) and was hoping to bring enough for the entire trip so I wouldn’t have to find a doctor on the spot, deal with a molecule that might be slightly different from what’s available in France, or wonder if that’s even a possibility. Basically, it seemed simpler on paper...
But after looking into the regulations for each country, it’s suddenly way less simple . Many seem to only allow the amount corresponding to the length of your "stay" in the country... Which is a problem if I arrive in Korea with 4.5 months’ worth of medication, for example.
After all that, and even though I’ll obviously contact the relevant authorities in each country (fingers crossed for a response 😛), here’s my question:

I have several chronic conditions (including asthma and related ones), and I’m planning to travel for a year across different countries.
Generally, I understand it’s possible to travel with approved medications (which should be my case), but often with a limit of 3 months’ worth of treatment.
Since I’m going for 12 months, that means for three-quarters of my trip, I’d have more than 3 months’ worth of medication.
I plan to bring my prescriptions with the INN (International Nonproprietary Name), as well as the original packaging (even though it’s a nightmare, but from what I understand, it’s necessary). But I’m not sure if that’s enough...

The more time passes, the more we read about people getting sick—some with mild to severe traveler’s diarrhea, and many ending up in the hospital. We, as parents, have been through it in Egypt with pretty bad cases, but we’d really like to avoid that for our daughter. The suspected origin is contamination in Namibia by jackals.
The contagion seems to be spreading.
Preventive vaccination (of the animals) is being considered.

Rabies affects all mammals.
Once symptoms appear—sometimes weeks or even months later—death is inevitable.
It’s the bite that transmits the disease.
There are so-called "furious" forms with aggression, but also forms without aggression.
In case of a bite, in addition to standard wound care, tetanus prevention… rabies prevention is essential.
