J'ai déjà obtenu de nombreuses réponses en parcourant ce forum mais j'espère en avoir d'autres de la part de tous les passionnés que j'ai pu observer...😛
Je pars avec ma femme pour 15 jours le 7 novembre et je me demande quelle météo nous allons trouver là-bas à cette époque...
Arrivée San Francisco le soir, prise de l'Electra chez Eagleridder le lendemain matin, visite de SF et départ pour Yosemite le lendemain.
Sequoia Park, Death Valley, Las Vegas, Bryce Canyon, Lake Powell, Monument Valley, Grand Canyon, Laughlin et retour à Los Angeles puis une journée de visite le lendemain, dépôt de la moto dans l'après-midi et vol de retour le lendemain.
Environ 3600 kms à vue de nez.
J'ai tout réservé, hôtels compris, avec l'agence JetSet par Visa Premier mais je m'aperçois que les assurances ne fonctionnent pas pour la location de motos...😕
Je roule en moto depuis plus de 38 ans mais n'ai eu qu'une expérience limitée de trois jours et 1300 kms récemment en Septembre sur une Harley de loc.
Softail Heritage, très sympa, confortable, mais j'ai tout de même eu mal au c.. et surtout, je me suis payé un bel orage.
Cela m'a permis de constater que le Jet avec visière n'est pas idéal avec le pare-brise à cause des turbulences qui font remonter les gouttes à l'intérieur de la visière.
On a sorti les combinaisons et j'ai retiré mes Raybans et c'était mieux mais pas super tout de même...
Eagle ne prévois que des jets dans la loc, je pense donc emporter mon intégral Shark, mes gants d'été et d'hiver car je pense ne pas avoir à souffrir de la chaleur à cette époque. Pour ma femme, le Jet devrais convenir, je pense.
Nous y allons en cuir, blousons et pantalons.
Nous allons acheter des combinaisons ou plutôt des ensembles veste/pantalons de pluie sur place, des bottes et une paire de gants.
Je pense que ça vaut le coup d'acheter cela sur place plutôt qu'en France et que ça fera ça de moins à mettre dans nos bagages soigneusement sélectionnés pour rentrer dans les sacoches et top case...😮 mais vaut-il mieux le faire chez Eagle ou ailleurs?
Si quelqu'un peut me renseigner sur la météo à cette époque... je sais, c'est un sujet aléatoire mais bon...
Si d'autres tuyaux, je suis preneur 😉
J'ai fait le tour de la Floride en 4 roues il y a 25 ans ans mais je n'ai pas conduit à l'époque vu que je n'avais pas ce permis-là. Je suis un peu méfiant par rapport à ce que j'entends sur la conduite là bas, surtout par rapport aux réflexes des conducteurs qui peuvent être un peu ramollo par rapport à l'Europe...
Je pense que je surveillerai bien mes rétros lors des freinages sur le mouillé... des conseils?

Concernant les achats dans les concessions Harley on peut se faire plaisir...les prix sont plus bas qu'en france et avec le change et les promos c'est interressant (-30 à 60%), depuis 4 ans j'ai visité environ 25 concessions dont le TOP c'est Daytona mais cela vous fait un peu loin...😛 pour le climat je part en janvier desolé😕

Oui, Daytona j'ai connu une Bike week il y a 25 ans, ça fait effectivement un peu trop loin pour aller faire ses courses ;o)
J'avais acheté des choses d'une qualité excellente d'ailleurs.

Trop tard ce soir pour y plonger mais j'y vais ASAP dans la semaine...
San Francisco et Los Angeles, ça va, 15 à 20° en journée, en plaine aussi mais en allant vers l'Est, ça descend. Pas plus de 18 à 20° dans la vallée de la Mort et moins ensuite sur le trajet direction Monument Valley.
Par-contre, dès qu'on grimpe en haut des canyons, ça pèle. A Yosemite park, il y a avait un peu de neige, Sequoia Park, nous avons laissé tomber en bas à cause de la pluie battante et bien froide. Las Vegas, 14 à 15° le soir, ça allait.
Bryce Canyon, ma femme n'a jamais eu si froid de sa vie, environ -5° en haut mais elle n'a pas l'habitude de la moto l'hiver.
En roulant, la température ressentie est beaucoup plus basse! Il y avait aussi de la neige en haut mais le trajet aussi était glacial. Nous avons dû nous arrêter pour mettre tout notre équipement d'hiver: sous-pulls de ski, pulls épais, gros gants, cagoules et écharpes sur le nez dans nos casques de type intégral.
le lendemain matin, nous avons ajouté les caleçons longs sous nos pantalons de cuir et double-chaussettes dans les bottes.
Nous étions bien moins souples mais on n'a plus eu froid comme la veille.
Ensuite, Lake Powell, Monument Valley, c'est de la plaine, ça va mieux, entre 10 et 13°, nuages épars avec des pluies localisées, nous sommes passés à travers.
Grand Canyon, ça regrimpe mais ça va, à peu près pareil, mais du soleil.
De là, nous sommes partis vers le sud jusqu'à Sedone et même si c'est de la moyenne montagne, il faisait meilleur.
Nous avons enfin pu déjeuner sur une terrasse au soleil avec des fleurs et des papillons autour, 22 à 24°
Puis retour vers Los Angeles, temps gris et soleil alternativement, 15 à 20° selon.
Voilà. Superbes paysages et voyage extra mais il faut s'équiper. Prévoir d'emporter son intégral, plus adapté que les jets proposés par les loueurs et dans un état assez fatigué en général. De bons gants d'hiver en plus de mi-saison, cuirs, bonnes bottes et sous-vêtements chauds, sous-pulls, écharpes ou cagoules.
Pour l'iPhone, pas de prise USB sur l'Electra mais un allume-cigare. prévoir un doubleur/adaptateur USB si on utilise un GPS.
Le mien a rendu l'âme à cause des vibrations, je pense. Ce n'était pas un modèle spécial moto mais il était à l'abri de l'humidité. J'ai dû en acheter un autre.
Pour le forfait téléphone, j'ai pris une carte Ulysse, bien pratique et pas chère. Pour le Net, il y a le wifi dans tous les hôtel, généralement gratuit.
Question prix, les clopes, l'essence, les restos, les fringues, tout est moins cher qu'en France.
Nous avons très bien mangé partout, les vins sont pas mal du tout et les hôtels aussi et bien situés...
Très bon point pour le rapport qualité-prix-service de l'agence Jet Set Voyage, je recommande!
La moto n'était pas neuve: 47200 miles au compteur, peinture matée par endroit. L'embrayage était assez usé, pas progressif, pas évident pour la prise en main sur les routes défoncées et raides de San Francisco avec la charge (environ 620 KG en tout). J'ai dû la rapporter chez Eagle avant de partir car la serrure du top-case était nase et la pression de l'amortisseur insuffisante. Sinon, elle fonctionnait très bien, un vrai bonheur.
Eagle Rider de Los Angeles, rien à voir avec San Francisco, très sympas et pros, il y a un même parigo derrière le comptoir!
On n'a pas rencontré beaucoup de motos sur les 4200 Kms, pas plus d'une dizaine!
Pas de queue à faire, nulle part, on nous demandais toujours si on n'avait pas trop froid ;o)
Voilà, j'espère que cela aidera certains à mieux préparer leur trip particulièrement à cette époque.
On y retournera sûr mais en Mai/Juin ou Septembre Octobre la prochaine fois.

I’ve planned a three-week itinerary for this summer, from August 9 to 27, in Sri Lanka:
Negombo – 1 night
Sigiriya and the Cultural Triangle – 4 nights
Kandy – 2 nights
Ella – 3 nights
Tangalle – 6 nights
Colombo Airport – 1 night
I know this isn’t the ideal time for the south since the beach conditions aren’t great, but we’ve booked a hotel with a pool and won’t be swimming in the sea. We want to relax after all the travel since we’re bringing our two kids, aged 6 and 8.
I know the east would be better, but (i) I’m struggling to find suitable accommodation, and (ii) it adds a lot of travel time, and my kids can only handle about 3 hours at a stretch.
I looked into Arugam Bay, but it’s a 7-hour trip back to Colombo from there.
I’ve checked every weather site imaginable, but they don’t all agree. Do you think we’ll spend our whole trip in the rain, or is the monsoon in the south mostly limited to the sea, as I’ve read?
I’m worried about ending up in the middle of a natural disaster with my two young kids, given recent events.

But after checking various weather sites and reading accounts, I’m a bit worried about rain, which can apparently be frequent and heavy in February. I’d love to hear from travelers or locals who’ve been there recently.
What would be the ideal month to explore Oman without extreme heat or rain? November?
Also, it’s best to avoid visiting the wadis on weekends—does that mean Saturday and Sunday?
This year, 2026, I can only get away in April and May. I never travel during these months usually, and from what I know, they aren’t the best for India. But in such a big country, there are always spots that are better than others weather-wise.

I’ve looked into a few different options: Brazil, Cambodia, and Ecuador. The last one really appeals to me, but what’s making me hesitate is the risk of our trip being a bit too rainy (literally ),
We’re more drawn to the Andes, exploring colonial cities, typical villages, markets, and a bit of the coast. We’ve already gotten a taste of this in Bolivia, Colombia, and Chile. Plus, we’d love to do part of it by car since we’re used to driving at our own pace and stopping whenever we feel like it. Anyway, time’s running out, and I need to decide so I can finalize a route and book the tickets!!

I’ve planned a trip to Asia for the first half of November.
I’ll arrive in Singapore at the start of November for about 3 days, and I’ll leave from Bangkok in mid-November.
In between, I’d like to gradually head north to visit some less touristy islands on the Thai coast.

Just giving you the quick context: A group of friends and I are planning a trip to South Korea (Seoul/Busan) at the end of June/July next year. It falls right in the middle of the monsoon season, but we don’t really have other availability options.😕
I’d love to hear from people who’ve visited the country and these cities during this period—basically, is it not as bad as it sounds, or should we just cancel our tickets (we don’t mind the heat, it’s mostly the rain that scares us).
I know there are plenty of indoor activities, but do you think we’ll still manage to get a few sunny days, or will it be torrential rain for our entire 2-week trip?
The only other country we’ve visited during the rainy season is Brazil (in the northeast) around the same time, and honestly, aside from a few really annoying downpours, we had sunshine most of the time and it was awesome. That said, the climate is totally different, so I’m not sure how relevant the comparison is.

Not sure if guidebooks, agencies, and other tour operators are keeping up by changing their visiting hours and offerings.
Personally, I see a promising opportunity here—jumping on this adaptation to extreme climates before others do, since they’re inevitably coming.
From my own travel experience, I’ve met a few guides so far who are starting to adjust, like in Egypt, Kenya, Senegal, and elsewhere.
They avoid crowds and the hottest hours by starting their tours around 6–7 AM, when it’s cooler.
Yeah, you’ve gotta wake up early, but the payoff is so worth it. 😴
If you’ve got any great tips like this, why not discuss them in this thread and share addresses or websites where the people in charge have realized climate change is real and are adapting? 😊

Hello, We’re heading to Finnish Lapland near Rovaniemi as a family at the end of February with two kids (8 and 14 years old). We’ve got direct flights with Luxairstours. The itinerary is already set, but I’m wondering if anyone has traveled with Luxair before and knows exactly what kind of clothes they provide on the second day? The agency just told me it’s a heavy-duty cold-weather suit. I’m thinking we should get Sorel Caribou boots, maybe second-hand. Here’s what I’ve already planned:
- Thermolactyl leggings and tights from Damart for the whole family as a base layer.
- A first layer of Damart socks + Nordic Stocks socks in 70% merino wool for all four of us.
- Loose fleece layers, including some Polartec.
- Ski pants for hikes.
- For my son and me, a The North Face Himalayan down parka with a hood.
- A ski parka for my husband and my 14-year-old daughter (she *really* wants a Roxy one—I hope it’ll be warm enough).
- For myself, for the flight and the first day at Santa’s village, I’ve packed The North Face winter hiking pants, a long-sleeve merino wool top from Decathlon (thin), a fleece, and my big parka.
I’m wondering if I should just pack fleece joggers or sweatpants for the kids and my husband, at least for the first and last days, to be comfortable on the plane?
I’m also planning to buy balaclavas and neck warmers in addition to our beanies, as well as mittens for all of us. I really need advice because I have no idea—I’ve never been skiing! Also, for a 4-night, 5-day trip, should I pack a second set of base layers, like from Odlo?
Of course, I’ll be leaving cotton clothes out of the suitcase.
As you can tell, I’m someone who gets cold easily—especially my feet, hands, and ears—so that’s my biggest worry. I *don’t* want to be cold, even at -20°C during dog sledding, snowmobiling, or aurora hunting when we might be standing still. We won’t be in the city, and the kids will likely spend most of their time outside, as they usually do.
