Je suis étudiante et je pars au mois de janvier en programme d'échange dans une université américaine (Knoxville TN). Je reste un semestre, cad 5 mois et je me demandais si je pouvais ouvrir un compte là-bas afin d'éviter de payer des frais à chaque paiement ou retrait.
Sinon quelles solutions sont possibles et rentables afin de ne pas payer trop de frais (banques spéciales, carte bancaire, compte international...)

Je suis allée à la banque commander des devises et des travelers mais pour les commissions on peut pas faire grand chose. Tanpis au moins le taux de change est en notre faveur, c'est déjà pas mal

comme il est dit plus haut pour ouvrir un compte rien de plus facile et c'est gratuit
tu vas dans une banque ( pour mon cas c'était bank of america) avec ton passeport, n° de tel et une adresse et du cash pour mettre dessus.
les retraits sont gratuit en général qaund tu retires dans les guichets de l'enseigne de ta banque, et gratuit quand tu payes avec aussi.
J'avais reçus ma carte une semaine/10 jours aprés max.
et pour la résilier tu vas à ta banque et tu demander à fermer ton compte ça prend 10 minutes.....voilà voilà!
le tout est gratuit. à vérifier avec la banque là-bas.
ps: le mieux est de prendre du cash et de le changer dans un bureau de change en france, taux plus avantageux qu'en banque.

Pjoss, tu as répondu a pas mal de questions que je me posais, je pars en stage, et j'ai un compte "offert" chez bank of america par le biais de Parenthèses.
Je me demandais quel type de "CB" il te donne ? juste pour retirer, pour payer ? Est ce que tu as un chéquier aussi ?
C'est donc moins cher de changer dans un bureau de change que dans une banque; il y a une grosse différence ou pas énorme?
J'ai juste une dernière question pas trop en rapport avec le post, c'est concernant les tél portables (vu qu'il faut donner un n° à la banque), comment ça marche exactement, il existe aussi des tél sans abornement je suppose, on peut se les procurer ou?

alors moi à bank of america, (j'étais en californie, je ne sais pas si les reglements changent selon les etats) j'ai eu une visa ( la classique gris, avec le logo bank of america et le petit drapeau américain.......tu gardes la carte aprés avoir fermer ton comte d'ailleurs c'est un bon souvenir! tu le redemanderas à ton banquier de pouvoir garder la carte) et j'ai aussi eu 4/5 chèques que je n'ai pas utiliser.
tu peux retirer avec ta carte ( gratuit aux guichets de bank of America et avec des frais dans les autres), et aussi payer avec sans frais.
pour le change je ne l'ai fais que dans des bureaux de change en france, en banque la commission est plus importante et en plus tu ne peux pas vraiment négocier....
pour les tels tu vas dans un magasin comme AT&T, verizon, ou qui regroupe comme les chaines de magasin radioshak... et tu as des tels que tu ne paye pas très cher et qui sont à carte, que tu peux recharger quand tu veux, à la fin quand tu pars tu ne recharges plus ton tel et il se bloqueras tout seul au bout d'un certain temps comme en france en fait. en général tu ne paye que quand tu téléphones, c'est 1 dollars pas jour . en fait lors de ton premier appel tu payes 1 dollars et ensuite c'est pour 1 jour......si tu ne téléphones pas de 3 jours tu ne payes rien. selon les opérateurs ensuite le prix à la minute différe.
et aussi faut que tu vois avec tes amis car en général les appels sont gratuit entre opérateurs......donc c'est mieux si les mêmes amis ont le même opérateur, tu ne payes que les 1 dollars.
je précise que ça marchait comme ça avec att mais je pense que c'est à peu prés comme ça pour tous.

Peux-tu STP me donner une information concernant l'ouverture d'un compte aux USA.
Mon fils est actuellement étudiant à SAN DIEGO.
On lui a fait ouvrir un compte à la BANK OF AMERICA car avec le compte français il y avait beaucoup trop de frais.
On lui a fait un premier transfert d'argent, il était censé avoir 740 dollars. Or, il n'a eu que 600 dollars sur son compte.
Nous avons eu les frais prélevés par la banque française ; nous avons été prévenu qu'il y aurait certainement des frais côté US. Mais de là à ce que cela coûte 140 dollars !!!
La BANK OF AMICA prélève t'elle des frais pour l'ouverture d'un compte ?. Quelle est la tarification lorsque l'on fait un transfert.
Là on vient de lui envoyer 1000 euros. J'ai peur d'avance des frais que cela va occasionner.
Peux-tu STP nous conseiller compte-tenu de ton expérience.

alors pour les frais de transfert je ne sais pas car j'ai en fait déposé tout mon cash en ouvrant mon compte et je n'ai fais aucun transfert durant mo année, par contre aucun frais pour l'ouverture, ni en cas de retrait avec la carte si c'est dans un guichet appartenant à la dite banque ni en payant dans un magasin ni lors de la fermeture du compte( et j'ai gardé ma visa comme souvenir 😉 !
par contre 1000 euros fait donc 1470... dollars qq chose comme ça vu le change actuel moi je pense qu'avec les frais il devrait recevoir au moins 1200 dolars voire 1300 mais PAS MOINS!!( enfin de mon avis) il faut voir avec la banque française et la Bank of America et qu'ils donnent des sommes exactes! ils sont là pour ça!

If anyone knows the rates charged by movers for a crate to French Polynesia, or what pitfalls to avoid (I know you can get quotes directly from movers, but I’d love insights from actual customers😉).
