C’est le style de notre dernier séjour dans ce coin, fin février 🙂. J’avais laissé un message sur VF (que je ne retrouve pas !) renvoyant vers notre carnet photos https://plus.google.com/.../6126413067284489297 où toutes les vues sont géo-localisées :
en agrandissant une photo, tu accèdes au commentaire/infos pratiques et en cliquant sur « Détails de la photo » tu vois très précisément le lieu de prise de vue sur GoogleMap (et GoogleEarth pour la photo satellite).
Sur ces documents, pas une piste, pas un chemin ne manque ! il n’y a plus qu’à tracer son itinéraire et aller voir sur place 😉
Entre Phnom Chnogk et Secret Lake, la piste est absolument évidente :
Et en agrandissant les abords du lac (on peut agrandir plus encore que je ne l'ai fait), on voit très distinctement tous les chemins :
Par contre si on veut continuer au-delà du lac, au SE, pour rejoindre la route de Kompong Trach puis Kep, le terrain devient sablonneux et c’est un peu compliqué sans GPS (nous en avions un). Mais en préparant soigneusement le parcours, ça se fait.
Idem pour la virée que tu veux faire du côté de Takeo (au SO et non au SE comme tu l’avais écrit par erreur dans ta discussion).
De mon côté, j’ai une question : je ne vois pas du tout quel barrage tu évoques au Bokkor ? Après quel aéroport ?

Voilà une réponse comme je les aime!!! Tu as levé un voile sur ce secret (lire: Secret lake!). Je vais potasser tout cela et reviendrai vers toi, si tu le veux bien.
Oui, pour Takéo: erreur: c'est au sud-ouest! Cela vaudrait-il le déplacement?
Barrage: sur mapcarta (satellite), il y a le dessin d'un avion plein nord de la ville de Kampot, pas très loin (petit aéroport qui n'est pas celui qui se trouve sur la route de Sihanoukville).
-- Disons: route à 11 heures. Quelques km plus loin, à dix heures, la route va vers une zone inondée (dans les années 2000? et qui a fait grand bruit: investissement chinois?). Par rapport à la zone touristique au sommet du Bokor: c'est au Nord-Ouest. Si je citais cette randonnée, c'était pour les routes qui partent (en cul-de-sac et parfois à bonne altitude: 60 mètres je crois) dans les montagnes depuis la route proche du barrage: paysages significatifs? A+

Ah ??? moi je situe toute ta description au NE de Bokor et au NO de Kampot 😏 mais je pense quand même qu'on parle de la même chose (sauf si je n'ai pas suivi...), le barrage et le lac étant au N sur la photo :

As-tu activé, dans GoogleEarth, la couche photos Panoramio ? Les photos postées donnent un aperçu des lieux même si elles sont très souvent fort mal placées. A toi de voir si cela t'inspire ; personnellement nous n'avons pas circulé par là. Pourtant on aime bien aller là où il n'y a rien à voir mais tout à regarder 😉.
Autre erreur (de frappe): altitude de 600 mètres (à peine moins que le sommet du Bokor mais davantage que les karts environnants dans la campagne de Kampot qui ne dépassent bien souvent pas 300 à 400 mètres).

Barrage: oui, bonne localisation géographique.
Entre Secret lake et Kampong Trach: étant donné la crête du relief semi-montagneux entre les deux, j'irai à Kampong Trach depuis Kep. As-tu vu d'autres choses dans le coin de Kampong Trach? (davantage vers le Vietnam, par exemple?).
Je viens de télécharger Google earth (et panoramio: en effet, c'est pas toujours la bonne photo): super et merci pour l'info. Je chercherai comment imprimer certaines zones: c'est ce que j'ai vu de mieux jusqu'à présent comme cartes.
J'étais à kampot en juillet 2014, on n'a pas eu de chance avec le temps, il pleuvait comme si c'était la mousson.
8h de bus pour faire la «route» phnom pehn-kampot en passant à l est par kampong trash, 2h au retour sur la route #3, le pire au niveau boue était autour de kampong trash (au nord et sur le tronçon jusqu a kep, le carter du bus etait quasi en permanence dans la boue, les rares motos de sortie galeraient et disparaissaient totalement dans la boue lors des chutes)
en venant de kampot, la route etait «praticable» jusqu'à kep, mais apres ça relevait du masochisme. c etait en travaux, je ne sais pas dans quel etat c est un an apres
le jour ou on voulait aller a bokor, on a du rebrousser chemin a cause du froid (pluie constante+ vent+ altitude), sinon le bitume etait moins casse gueule a l ouest de kampot

En février dernier, en dehors de 2 transitions non finalisées sur le tronçon allant de Kep vers le N pour rejoindre la route Kampot/Kompong Trach (giratoire avec statut d'un cheval blanc), les travaux d'élargissement et bitumage étaient pour ainsi dire achevés.
Les axes principaux (vers le poste frontière Prek-Chak/Ha Tien ainsi qu'à l'E de Kompong Trach jusqu'à la frontière vietnamienne) étaient goudronnés de frais. D'ailleurs l'image satellite de belle qualité de cette région, actuellement visible sur GoogleEarth, date de décembre 2014 et on y voit très clairement ces routes en parfait état.
Il ne te reste plus qu'à y retourner, en saison sèche 🙂, si tu aimes découvrir et batailler sur les pistes et chemins.
Les probabilités d'avoir ne serait-ce qu'une petite averse sont quasi nulles ; en tout cas pas de quoi rendre une piste impraticable 😉. Prévoir plutôt lunettes de soleil et masque pour la poussière (sur les pistes) et écran total.
Par expérience personnelle, en vélo ou à moto, gants légers bienvenus car le soleil brûle rapidement le dessus des mains ; idem au niveau des pieds : tennis ou chaussettes légères pour éviter les coups de soleil douloureux sur le dessus des pieds.
As-tu vu d'autres choses dans le coin de Kampong Trach? (davantage vers le Vietnam, par exemple?).
En 2011, venant à vélo du Vietnam par la frontière de Ha Tien/Prek Chak, on s'était pas mal baladé le long de la côte. Plein de chemins ou pistes à parcourir.
Et tu as aussi la nouvelle piste (élargie en tout cas) à la sortie de Kep vers l'E, sur la côte, entre mer et salines.
Dans nos carnets 2011 et 2015, tu as photos et localisations.

Je recherche aussi des coins séduisants dans la campagne pour la lumière excellente que l'on a en fin d'après-midi. J'avais bien fais, en janvier 2015, le Phnom Chnork (sur le chemin duquel les paysages sont déjà très jolis) mais c'était vers 11h du matin et ce n'est pas pareil.

I’m planning a motorcycle road trip to Armenia and Georgia in September 2026 or May 2027. I’m looking for one or more riders (male or female) who’d like to explore these countries with me.
Along the way, we’ll visit Cappadocia, the capitals Yerevan, Tbilisi, Sofia, Skopje, and other cities—we can finalize the route and roadbook later.
This trip requires experience with long motorcycle journeys, as we’ll cover around 7,000 km over 5 or 6 weeks (or more, depending on sightseeing and time spent).
I don’t expect dozens of applicants, since motorcycle riders are few and far between on this forum, but I’m putting this out there anyway.
I’m starting to think about a trip that’s really close to my heart: Algeria by motorcycle, specifically the southern part of the country. It’d be for January 2025, and I’ve got two main questions:
Is it possible for an individual on a motorcycle to travel freely, outside of any organized tour, or does the regulation require some kind of supervision in the Algerian Sahara region?
Is the Hoggar massif accessible by road or by (rideable) tracks?
Beyond the official recommendations, I’m really looking for your firsthand experiences.

Why not explore the Peloponnese!
I’m not particularly drawn to museums, ruins, or monuments.
I want to experience local life—small villages, seaside spots, beaches, and the interior if the landscapes are extraordinary.
Ideally, coming from Athens, I’d take a bus or train to get as close as possible to a starting point, then rent a scooter (125cc) to explore by taking secondary roads or even coastal paths. I’d stay in 2-3 places for a few days each to discover their surroundings.

What do you think would be the ideal itinerary?
From Athens, the best option would be to take either a flight or a bus to Kalamata. Rent a scooter and head either west or east. Is there a tertiary road (very lightly trafficked) or a path where I can ride slowly, take it easy, and enjoy the scenery without being bothered by traffic? I’d like to go all the way to Monemvasia, still hugging the coast. I need to find a way to avoid returning to Kalamata to drop off the scooter and catch a flight—maybe a small town where the train stops so I can head back to Athens.

How do you get visas for the countries I’ll be crossing: Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Chile? Are they e-Visas, obtained at the border, or through embassies?

I’ve got 15 days off in June and I’m pretty undecided about where to go for a motorcycle road trip. Two strong desires are pulling me in different directions: Corsica or Norway.
Corsica has been a dream of mine for a long time: legendary roads, stunning landscapes, a unique vibe, and the perfect mix of sea and mountains. At the same time, I’m wondering if 2 weeks might be *too much* for Corsica—risking feeling like I’ve seen it all too quickly, especially on a bike.
Since I also have an extra week free in May, I could use that specifically for Corsica. Maybe splitting it into two trips would make more sense? If so, which routes or regions would be the most interesting to plan for a 7-day trip?
On the other hand, Norway is *super* appealing. The landscapes look incredible, totally different from anything I’ve experienced, and it’d be a real “wow” trip. I know 15 days is still short for such a vast country. Getting all the way to the North Cape seems pretty much impossible in that time, but I’m curious about what realistic routes could be planned.
So I’m wondering:
Is it better to save Norway for next year, take 3 weeks off, and do it *properly*?
Or are 15 days enough for a first amazing taste of the country?
I’d love to hear about your experiences—whether it’s Corsica (ideal duration, routes) or Norway (what’s realistic in 2 weeks on a bike).

Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.
Could you share your experiences or advice?

Unfortunately, I’m worried that parts of the N630 may have disappeared or merged with the A66 motorway, forcing us to ride long stretches of highway, which we’d rather avoid.

We’ve rented two Royal Enfield 450s.
This is our first motorcycle trip in Morocco. I got my license two years ago with the dream of taking this kind of trip, and here we are! ✌️😍
In France, we usually ride between 300 to 400 km per day on roadsters. We’re not used to off-road tracks, so we’re looking for easy ones 😅—especially for me 😅.
For Morocco, I’ve planned stages of 200 to 300 km per day.
Here’s the idea:
Day 1 (departure at noon): Marrakech - Tizi n Test - Tafingoult (165 km - 4h15)
Day 2: Tafingoult - Amzarkou - Telouet (200 km - 4h34)
Day 3: Telouet - Ait Benhaddou - Ouarzazate - Boumalne (200 km - 3h30) (+ Vallée des Roses maybe)
Day 4: Boumalne - Dades Gorges - Agoudal - Todra Gorges - Tinghir - Goulmima (291 km - 6h)
Day 5: Goulmima - Midelt - Cirque Jaffar - Agoudim (280 km - 4h45)
Day 6: Agoudim - Imilchil - Aghbala - El Ksiba (280 km - 4h45)
Day 7: El Ksiba - La Cathédrale - Zaouiat Ahansal (212 km - 4h20)
Day 8: Ahansal - Ouzoud Waterfalls via R 302 (188 km - 4h22)
Day 9: Ouzoud - Marrakech (160 km - 2h43)
