Après avoir écouté les conseils bien aiguise de nombreuses personnes sur le forum, je vous fait par a mon tour de mon petit compte rendu de voyage , je vous donne les grandes lignes et je serais la pour répondre a vos questions:
- Nous somme parti de Marseille par air france a 9H00 le 14Janvier, escale a paris pour arrive sur bangkok a 6H30 le 15Janvier, apres avoir pris un taxi nous avons séjourné pour deux nuit au rambuttri village plaza prés de khao san road.
-Le premier jour nous avons visite le Wat Pho et avons surtout flâné dans les rue de Bangkok pour réserver les excursions et les vols interne.
-Le 16 au matin nous avons rien fait car ma femme et ma soeur n'ete pas bien mais cela nous a permis de nous repose , l'apres midi nous avons visite les khlongs avec Julien via Thuan , superbe journée , le soir visite du quartier chinois .
-Le 17 nous somme aller a Kantchanaburi pour visite Erawan , le pont de la rivière kwai , le temple des tigres , balade et baignade avec les éléphants et visites de temples.
-Nous avons dormi a Pong Phen Guest House , petit bungalow prés de la rivière kwai .
-Retour sur Bangkok dans la soirée du 18 apres de multiple péripétie , mais au final nous sommes arrive a bon port , en retard mais a bon port .Nous somme retourne au rambuttri pour la nuit pour repartir le lendemain en direction de koh lanta.
-Le 19 au matin nous avons décollé pour Krabi pour séjourne 6 nuits a koh Lanta au Lanta sea house ( oui j'ai réussi a avoir ce bungalow tant convoite , encore merci au membre du forum)
-Pdts les 6 jours nous nous somme surtout repose et avons profite du paysage , nous somme qd mémé aller voir les 4 iles , nous avons visite une ferme au serpent et avons fait du quad, aussi non nous avons tres tres bien mange et bien bronze.
-Nous somme rentre sur Bangkok le 25 ou nous avons séjourné pour deux nuits au Ramada Encore sur Sukhumvit Soi 10 , superbe hotel .Le soir nous somme aller au Lumpini .
-Le 26 fut un jour achat avant de repartir , petite échoppe , marche de patpong et MBK .
-Le 27 retour vers la France
Voila au final nous avons passe un superbe séjour dans ce pays magique ou l'on a rencontre des personnes géniales(Thai ou étrangère) nous avons vu de magnifique paysage , nous avons mange des choses extraordinaires et vu et touche des animaux magiques .

Pour le lanta sea house nous avons réservé a une petite agence en arrivant a l'aeroport de Krabi nous avons pas mal negocier , le prix de base été de 2200 B la nuits nous l'avons eu a 1600 B /nuit pour 6 nuits passe . Je pense que nous avons eu un bon prix en haute saison en plus.
Avec le petit dej compris dans le prix , donc je pense que cela est plutôt pas mal .
J'ai regardé sur leur site (http://www.lantaseahouse-resort.com/booking.html) les prix : 2100 BHT pour le plus simple des bungalow (pour mars).
C'est pas mal 1600 BHT. Je vais peut être essayer de négocier sur place au lieu de réserver ...
Sinon niveau plages, des préférences ? Klong Dao, c'est la plus belle ou y'a mieux sur l'île ?
Je pense qu'il y a mieux (long beach) mais celle la a l'avantage de ne pas avoir de roche a mare basse .
Pour la réservation je pense que cela vaux le coup de réserve sur place , directement dans l’aéroport de krabi l'agence la plus a gauche avant de sortir . De toute façon si j'ai bien vu il n'y a que deux agences dans l’aéroport.
Ou alors réservé dans le bateaux en allant sur Lanta , nous nous avons réservé a l’aéroport parceque nous somme parti en mini van.
Vous alle a Lanta de quel façon bateau ou par route ?
J'en ai pris plein les yeux et donc il convient de réfléchir sur cette impression (très courante chez les voyageurs )idyllique de la Thaïlande qui ne correspond en rien à la réalité de ce pays .Un petit tour sur mon post La Thaïlande , le paradis ? vous remettra les pieds sur terre car c'est loin d’être le cas .

Bonjour pour les khlongs je suis passe par Thuan tu le trouvera facilement sur VF écrit lui il te donnera la marche a suivre , il s'agit d'une ballade loin des sentiers battus et donc loin des touristes , tres tres belle aventure je conseille fortement .
Pour chinatown nous y somme aller le soir pour y mange ( très bon resto ) et cela donne l'impression de ne plus être dans le meme pays , a faire aussi mais pas besoin d'y reste une journée complète , après les gouts et les couleurs .....
Je pense qu'il faut aussi faire le Wat Pho le temple du bouddha couche .
Content que ce voyage vous a plu et que vous ayez pu trouver un bungalow a un super prix dans mon hotel favori a Lanta 😉

On ira par bateau, au départ de Phi-phi (on restera qu'une nuit sur cette île, étant donné les mauvais échos ..). On compte rester 5 jours à Koh Lanta et faire des excursions depuis (4 iles ...). Si vous avez des bons plans, je suis preneur ... 🙂. Merci
j'ai une petite question, connais-tu le Banana Garden Home, ça a l'air super sympa, les avis sont plus que positifs, j'hésite à booker chez eux ... tu pense que c'est mieux de rester dans le même hôtel ou changer histoire de voir autre chose (pour 5 jours).

Plutot mitige car il est vrai de voir et de touche les tigres cela reste magique d'un autre cote cela fait vraiment tres touristique et puis on nous dit que les tigres sont bien traite mais le doute est la , ils doivent leur donne des sédatifs.
Je voulais aller au temple bouddhiste tiger et pas au tiger temple mais je ne l'est pas trouve .
Re , on m'avais conseiller de réserve l’hôtel directement sur le bateaux , je ferais sa a votre place avec 5 nuits en plus vous avais de quoi négocier .
Aussi non comme excursion je n'est fait que les 4 iles avec la grotte d'emeraude , je vous la conseille fortement .Il y as aussi koh Rok ou a réellement été tourne koh lanta .
Pour indication nous avons paye 700B/pers pour lexcursion des 4 iles .
Bonjour pour le mini van nous lavons négocier avec la location de l’hôtel 300 B /pers avec les deux bac inclus.
Par contre se qui est drôle a l’aéroport de Krabi , il n'y a pas de taxi , pour sortir de l’aéroport on a été oblige de passe par une agence qui a le monopole pour nous faire sortir et nous laisse a un drapeau 2km plus loin (pour 300B aussi pour le van non négociable si mes souvenir son bon )ou la notre mini van nous récupéré .
Sur le coup nous pensions qu'il voulais nous avoir mais en sortant de l’aéroport aucun taxi a l'horizon alors nous somme revenu pour paye .LOL
Au final 300B pour 4 pour le premier et 300B/pers pour aller jusqua l'hotel , en sachant qu'il y a bien 2H de route et qu'il faut passe deux bacs

Il y a une agence à l'intérieur de l'aéroport pour effectuer tous les transferts y compris jusqu'à Koh Lanta, mais c'est hors de prix car c'est un transfert privé et de l'ordre d'environ 2500 bahts 🤪

Nous avons apprécié l'hotel , assez loin de khao san road pour ne pas entendre le bruit mais assez proche pour y aller a pied .Les chambres été propre mais il ne faut pas s'attendre au grand luxe , je trouve que le rapport qualité prix est au rdv et personnellement nous somme aller a l’hôtel juste pour y dormir.
Il y a une agence plutôt sympat pour réservé vol et excursion juste en bas de l'hotel.
Une autre question : comment vous êtes-vous rendu dans la région de Kanchanaburi et avez-vous pris un tour sur place. Si oui avec quel organisme. En fait, cela fait 3 questions 🙂

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:
- Is it possible to rent a car in Danang and drop it off in Hanoi?

I’m struggling to wrap up the end of my itinerary, even though it’s pretty straightforward (long but simple).
Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.
Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous.
I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing.
I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture.
But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary.
If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.
For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

We’re heading to Vietnam as a family on July 8th for a little over 3 weeks (north and center). We’ve only booked the first 3 nights in Hanoi, and nothing else after that. We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

My girlfriend and I booked our tickets with Saudia Airlines for a trip to Thailand this summer, from July 5th to August 3rd. Given the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, we’re keeping a close eye on the news.
I was wondering if anyone here is in the same situation as us?
• Have you heard anything about possible mass cancellations or if the airline is still maintaining its routes to Asia?
• Are there any travelers who’ve recently returned who could tell us if air corridors have been changed (longer flight times)?

Thanks for all your contributions on the forum—they’ve really helped me plan my trip. There are four of us friends heading to Sulawesi for 20 days. Based on all your advice, I’ve put together the following itinerary:
July 30: Makassar – sightseeing
July 31: Makassar – sightseeing + overnight bus to Rantepao
August 1–7: Tana Toraja with a guide
August 7: Tana Toraja to Tentena + visit Tentena
August 8: Early departure with a private driver to Ampana, then ferry to the Togian Islands
August 9–15: Togian Islands (2 different resorts)
August 15: Depart Togian Islands for Luwuk
August 16: Flight Luwuk to Makassar
August 17: Rammang Rammang
August 18: Stroll in Makassar, then return home
Overall, what do you think?
I also have a question about the connection between Tentena and the Togian Islands: Is it doable to leave early in the morning as planned and still be sure not to miss the ferry?

I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.
But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal...
