Hi there, I’m looking to book my train tickets to Agra and was wondering if the formalities when leaving the airport take a long time? (Just a rough idea would be great.) Thanks in advance !

Hi,

It probably depends on how many planes have landed in the previous hour! For us at 2:30 PM, it was great—lots of counters were empty, and with the fingerprint process, it took no more than 5 minutes.

See you around, Le Belu

I can confirm—super fast because there were lots of "e-visa" counters open (at least when we went through late morning). If you're planning to take a taxi, head to the "prepaid taxi" counter when you exit. It’s not expensive, and the prices are fixed by destination. No hassle with the usual touts. The counter agent will give you two vouchers: one pink and one green. Only hand the green one to the driver once you’ve reached your destination. Have a great trip!

Hi, However, for flights arriving late at night (midnight, 1 AM), you should allow a full hour because it gets really busy then!

Thanks for your replies! We land at 5:45 AM and are heading straight to Agra. There’s a train at 8:10 AM—it’s not from the main station (NDLS), but I think it’ll work out!

Hi, You’re optimistic... watch out for the time it takes to collect your luggage—it can be slow or even *very* slow (1 hour). Allow at least 45 minutes to get to the station if it’s Nizamuddin. Best regards.

but I think it’ll be fine!

Possible, but it could break too...

Hi, personally, I’d recommend jumping the queue by saying you’ve got a train to catch (it’s a legit excuse for once!) for the e-visa, and hoping your luggage comes out quickly. Then grab a taxi right away... and find a porter at the station (100 rs per suitcase) who’ll take you straight to your compartment to save time! I think it’s gonna be tight!

Given all the different factors mentioned in the replies, it’s pretty much impossible to answer the question. Give it a try and keep us posted... Good luck!

Hey Poto, Since it was 6 and a half years ago, the issue must’ve been resolved by now 😛

Oops! Did I forget to check the date of this message? Hope they’re not still stuck at the airport. Anyway, thanks for your super interesting travel journal—I’m waiting for the next part too!

If they're still stuck, there's cause for concern!

Thanks for your support. As I was saying, I’ve been missing the time to finish this travel journal for ages, and I’m not sure I’ll manage it, but I’ll give it a shot...
