J’aimerais prendre le TGV avec mon vélo non-démonté ainsi qu’une remorque Bob. Après renseignement pris auprès de la SNCF, il semblerait que ce soit possible dans les TGV marqués avec le signe « vélo » qui ont une voiture en queue de train pour le transport desdits vélos (avec réservation et supplément, bien sûr ).
Mais la lecture de certains msgs sur ce forum m’incite à me méfier…aussi quelle est votre expérience positive ou négative de vélo non-démonté dans le TGV (en France) ?
oui, les TGV affublés du pictogramme vélo ont un compartiment avec 4 crochets pour suspendre des vélos en voiture 8 ou 18 (tête ou queue du TGV). Réservation vélo obligatoire, 10 € par train. Le billet vélo ne peut pas s'acheter en ligne ni au distributeur automatique en gare, il faut le prendre au guichet. Ou peut-être en même temps que le billet par téléphone ?? (3635)

Ayant voyagé avec mon vélo à bord de divers trains, dont des TGV, je confirme que les indications données sur ce site sont réalistes et raisonnablement à jour. Je vous conseillerais de ne pas poser la question pour la remorque. Elle n'est pas prévue, mais vous devriez pouvoir la caser en travers au pied des vélos, au besoin en poussant quelques grosses valises qui viennent assez souvent squatter l'espace normalement réservé aux vélos.
NB: dans la dernière génération de TGV Est (Paris - Strasbourg - Allemagne), l'espace vélo est agencé différemment. Ce sera peut-être moins facile d'y caser la remorque, mais je n'ai pas encore emprunté ces TGV ; à voir.
Enfin, il arrive que des TGV sans pictogramme vélo aient un compartiment vélo, mais ce n'est qu'à l'usage qu'on arrive à savoir lesquels sur quelles lignes, et ce n'est pas garanti à 100%. Mais ça peut dépanner...

Je n'ai pas une grande expérience de Train-vélo avec TGV mais depuis quelques semaines déjà, j(ai réservé pour un Nantes Strasbourg début Juin en TGV direct avec mon vélo non démanté . Je me suis adressé au guichet SNCF et en Ticket Prem'S 22€ et 10 € pour le vélo.
J'en reparlerais après mon périple en Alsace et il n'y a pas de raison que ça ne se passe pas bien. Bien qu'avec la SNCF tout est possible !!!

de de Lille à Agde puis de Bordeaux à Lille
l'année passée de Lille à Dijon puis le retour
nous en étions ravis mais il faut tout dire les places pouor les vélos étaient bien réservés et dans le train il y a peu de place pour les vélos. (ce n'est pas le cas en Allemagne p.exemple) mais en Belgique dans la plus part des trains il n'ya place que pour deux vélos.(alors sans réservations mais il faut avoir de la chance)
conclusion: réserver de la place et vous serez très content.

Il y a effectivement des crochets vélos dans les voitures en queue et tête de train sur certains TGV. Il faut absolument réserver avant. Par contre, il arrive souvent (ça m'est arrivé 3x sur 4 trajets...) que les espaces vélos soient complètement occupés par des énormes valises (eh oui, les gens ne savent plus voyager léger...!). Et comme les couloirs sont assez étroits, ça peut devenir critique au moment de monter dans le train, surtout avec plusieurs vélos... La dernière fois, on était 2 cyclistes avec les sacoches, plus une poussette, et il y a avait au moins 3 m3 de valises dans l'espace vélo... la galère !
Ce qui est bien c'est que des places assises sont réservées pour les cyclistes dans le même wagon. Il vaut tout de même mieux jeter régulièrement un oeil aux vélos (voire même les cadenasser). Et comme les gens y mettent leurs valises, ils ne sont pas très respectueux et poussent les vélos...

ça 'est arrivé aussi. J'ai même eu droit, 2 fois, à des chariots de manutention SNCF qui occupaient tout l'espace vélo!
Il y a une différence entre les propriétaires des grosses valises et les cyclistes : on paie une réservation pour notre vélo => le controleur doit, si nécessaire, intervenir pour faire dégager les places réservées. A savoir au cas où ça ne s'arrangerait pas gentiment à l'amiable.

Biensur mais il faut qu'il soit démonté et dans une housse, pas juste démonté. Maintenant si tu veux pas t'embeter à le démonter tu peux faire le trajet par le Corail, ça circule le vendredi et le dimanche. Et c'est un X72500 qui assure la liaison, il y a un espace avec des crochets à vélos. ^
Les autres jours ce corail ne fonctionne qu'entre Tours et Lyon (avec deux circulations de plus) mais tu peux faire préalablement Nantes - Tours en TER (attention que ce ne soit pas un Interloire, les Interloire n'acceptent pas les vélos, je me suis déja pris 40 euros d'amende comme ça...)
Sauf à trouver des billets prem's, le corail sera probablement moins cher que le TGV. Et ce sera un acte citoyen en contribuant au maintien des dessertes transversales lol

En fait le controleur n'ira pas mesurer les distances (dépasse pas trop quand même) mais il regardera si le vélo gêne la circulation ou représente un danger ou une source de salissure pour les autres voyageurs.
A l'époque j'avais une housse spécifique acheté chez Décathlon. Certes c'était pas donné mais au moins j'avais l'esprit libre, je savais qu'on ne pouvait rien me reprocher. Avec un carton bricolé c'est différent, ce sera à l'appréciation du controleur, avec les critères de jugement ci-dessus.
Si le TGV n'a pas de picto vélo ça laisse trois hypothèses
1) il y a un compartiment vélo mais le système informatique n'est pas au courant (possible mais pas très probable)
2) c'est une rame TGV-A non rénovée, la faudra caser ton vélo dans les espaces bagages, si tu es au début du trajet ça devrait aller
3) c'est une rame duplex et là c'est pas cool car les espaces pour les bagages sont rikikis... Souvent quand c'est des duplex c'est indiqué sur le site.
En tout état de cause il faut que le vélo soit bien emballé, ce que je veux dire par la c'est qu'il faut que ça ressemble à un vrai paquet même si c'est du bricolé. Si ça se voit que tu as juste mis une bache par dessus vite fait là tu peux avoir des emmerdes, selon le controleur.
Par contre je n'ai pas bien compris le trajet que tu voulais faire. C'est Lyon - Nantes? Lyon - Quimperlé?
Pour Quimperlé j'avais oublié de te dire mais il y a un train de nuit direct Lyon - Quimperlé les jeudis, vendredis (peut être les samedis) et dimanches soir. Avec un espace pour les vélos non démontés. Départ de Lyon 21h43. Avec le vélo je prends la plupart du temps le train de nuit car y a pas besoin de s'emmerder à démonter le bazar et en plus on perd pas la journée dans les transports.

Aïe, en effet 132 euros ça fait mal. C'était pour une couchette ou un siège inclinable? Ca me semble beaucoup pour une couchette, peut-être devrais-tu vérifier s'il n'y a pas de l'assis à moins cher.
Au pire, si tu veux sauver ton voyage, tu peux toujours utiliser le corail de jour dont je te parlais dans l'autre message: En effet, la tarification corail comme TER est fixe, c'est à dire que le prix n'augmentera pas, même au dernier moment. Et les tarifs 12-25 et compagnie s'appliquent selon le calendrier blanc/bleu et non selon la disponibilité. Si tu pars un vendredi ou dimanche vu que la liaison est sans correspondance, tu auras peut-être des prems intercité. Le train part à 15h26 ou 39 je ne sais plus
je viens de faire Aix en Provence Paris en TGV en 2 etapes (Aix Lyon puis Lyon Paris) avec mon velo cyclo demonte dans un carton avoisinant les 140 cm de long pour ~90 cm de haut sur 25 de large. Cela va dependre du controleur : entre Aix et Lyon le controleur a grimace mais a ete comprehensif donc je n'ai pas eu d'ennui ; par contre entre Lyon et Paris j'ai pris 45 euros d'amende avec un controleur qui n'a rien voulu savoir (je suis alle voir differents magasins pour les housses, mon velo ne rentre pas, a part le demonter completement (gardes boues, structures metalliques de portage, etc...) ; me renseigner sur les TGV velo entre Aix et Paris (inexistants), >>>enfin essayer de discuter....
je crois que c'est un peu comme avec les flics...tu enfreins le reglement alors si tu roules a 60 et que c'est a 50, certains te disent Ok continuez en te disant de faire attention, par contre d'autres te plantent un PV ; le discours restera, je crois, le meme : ton bagage gene pour la circulation habituelle (ce qui est vrai : il empeche les gens de se croiser) et en cas d'evacuation (notamment incendie)...ou le fameux "si je commence a l'accepter pour vous alors il y aura des cartons partout ! (une facon de botter en touche pour certains, non !...😉).
Donc pour finir tu prends un risque sachant que selon moi, ce risque est nettement diminue si tu t'arranges pour non seulement monter dans le train sans te faire voir (ce qui te permettra de discuter avec le controleur une fois dans le train, celui ci en train de rouler, a part si tu souhaites ne pas prendre le risque de payer d'amende (auquel cas s'adresser directement au controleur) mais aussi et surtout prendre un train en periode effectivement non chargee (le premier controleur m'a indique qu'en periode de pointe, il ne l'aurai pas accepte !) et a des horaires, c'est ce que je te conseille, moins frequentes (en gros tres tot ou tres tard)...voila ou sinon si tu as plus de temps les TER ou corail ne posent pas de soucis

However, I’m just starting my research for the rest of the journey—namely the Caucasus (no trains as far as I know, so buses and/or ferries), then Central Asia and China.

Hi everyone, I wanted to take the Paris-Berlin overnight train with a sleeper berth, the new service operated by European Sleepers.
24/05/2026 17:45 Paris-Nord (actually 16:00 from Paris Bercy Seine) -> 25/05/2026 9:59 (actually 7:30 in Berlin)
05/06/2026 18:31 Berlin (actually 20:00) -> 06/06/2026 10:00 Paris Nord (actually 12:30)
Part of the journey was operated by bus instead of the promised overnight train.
For 2 people: 340 € round trip
A total disaster. Never again. I was really looking forward to taking the overnight train, but we faced last-minute changes and truly unpleasant travel conditions. Here are the details:
1) 2 days before departure: email announcing a change of departure station for the outbound trip—Bercy Seine bus station instead of Gare du Nord.
2) Change of schedule: 4:00 PM from Bercy instead of 5:45 PM from Gare du Nord.
3) Change of transport mode!! A bus from Paris to Brussels, then an overnight train from Brussels to Berlin. No functional toilets on the bus. No children under 4 allowed on the bus.
4) On the sleeper train at 9:30 PM: no functional toilets in our carriage, so we had to go to other carriages, even in the middle of the night, to find working ones.
5) The onboard staff, though very friendly, were as lost as we were. In particular, they didn’t know how to handle the lower berths, so people using them had less space (armrests and backrests). Berth numbers weren’t respected, so some passengers had to move. The staff also didn’t know who was supposed to join the compartment during the journey.
6) Arrival at 7:30 AM in Berlin instead of 10:00 AM. No arrival announcement. Passengers had to search for staff to get breakfast and ended up with just a coffee (breakfast = 15 €, not bad for just a coffee).
7) Return trip: drastic schedule change announced by email on 26/05/2026—departure at 7:30 PM instead of 6:30 PM, with arrival between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM in Paris instead of 10:00 AM. No change in transport mode announced.
8) Change in transport mode announced by email on the same day (05/06/2026)!! Overnight train from Brussels to Berlin, then a bus from Paris to Brussels. No functional toilets on the bus. Children under 4 banned from the bus, and families in this situation were asked to find another way—after being notified the same day.
9) The overnight train arrived at Berlin station with a 30-minute delay on top of its initial delay (scheduled for 6:31 PM, then 7:30 PM, finally arriving at 8:00 PM). The heating was blasting in the compartment with no way to turn it off. No functional toilets in the carriage. From that point on, customer service stopped responding to my messages.
10) Woken up at 5:00 AM with an announcement in all carriages about arrival in Liège.
11) Woken up again at 6:00 AM to be told we’d arrive in Brussels at 7:00 AM.
12) Arrival in Brussels at 7:00 AM and a one-hour wait for the bus to Paris. No functional toilets on the bus.
13) Arrival at Paris Nord at 12:30 PM, so 2.5 hours late compared to the originally scheduled time.
14) The overnight trains used are very old—I recognized the carriages from 20 years ago!! No functional power outlets, no Wi-Fi, no air conditioning. Five people per compartment is a bit cramped, but I consider these conditions expected (especially the air conditioning), so I’m not complaining about that. There’s already plenty to gripe about with the travel conditions.
I have little hope of getting even a partial refund. Customer service emails acknowledge the discomfort but only offer to reimburse the cost of a coffee on board if we send them the receipt... a bit weak.
I’m sharing this experience in the hope it might help others.

Tomorrow afternoon, I arrive at Lyon Part-Dieu on the TGV at 5:50 PM and take the TER to Mâcon at 6:16 PM. Is a 26-minute transfer doable? Are the TGV and TER on the same departure board? And are they on the same platforms too?

I just realized there’s only one payment method accepted for booking the Mombasa-Nairobi express train ticket online: M-Pesa, a mobile money transfer service used in Africa. Would it be impossible to book as a European?
I’d love to know if any of you have recently eaten on the overnight train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai.
We’ve always ordered food on the train, and it was really good (and super convenient).
But in 2022, we ended up feeling like total idiots (with our 4-year-old daughter...) when we boarded the train only to find out that this service was no longer available... (It was the first time we’d traveled right after COVID.)
That’s also when we saw once again how kind Thai people are—they all offered to share their food with us, even though we were mortified. In the end, we managed to buy some instant noodles, which was better than nothing. Anyway, that’s the little story behind it.
In the following years, we’ve always brought our own meals.
I’ve read online that meal trays are back in service (could you confirm this, please?), but that the quality is really poor. I’ve also seen multiple reports that, even though you can eat well everywhere in Thailand, the train meal was the worst food travelers had during their trip...
Could you give me a recent opinion on this?
