Il y a quelques années que je rêve de quitter le Québec (Montréal) pendant 6 mois ou un an. J'aimerais tellement trouver un mentor, quelqu'un à l'écoute, de bons conseils, pour me diriger (Martinique ? Guadeloupe ?). J'ai 12 ans d'expérience en bureautique (secrétariat, comptabilité, administration, informatique). Je suis également violoniste (je joue dans les mariages et autres occasions). Est-ce que l'intégration se fait bien ? Peut-on trouver des familles pour nous accueillir les premiers mois ? Y a-t-il du travail dans mon domaine ? Ai-je besoin de documents d'immigration (permis de travail etc) autre que mon passeport ? Combien d'argent (devises Canadiennes) devrai-je prévoir pour le départ ???

Bah en fait, je ne connais pas ni la Guadeloupe, ni la Martinique..
A mon avis, le style de vie doit etre le meme, (toujours remettre a demain ce que l'on peut faire le jour mm car on vit a la cool!!), mais niveau culturel, alimentaire.. n'est pas le meme..
En RD, la culture est un melange afro hispanique, les dominicains vivent a la tranquille, sont super accueillants, auraient toutes les raisons d'etre "racistes" mais ne le sont pas le moindre du monde!! Ils prennent la vie du bon coté, et malgré le manque d'argent, ils sont tjs souriants et en train de rigoler!!
Niveau alimentaire, ici c'est plus restreint, il n'y a pas les epices de la Guadeloupe et Martinique, ca reste tres symple..: poulet, riz, haricots rouges, platanos, et les choses sucrées... tout pas du tout pareil que Mart., ni a la Gua.
Ah si, il parait que les paysages sont les memes, aussi vertes et magnifiques!!

Avoir de l'argent pour tenir de six mois à un an, un passeport, avec visa business de trois mois renouvelable par votre employeur si vous comptezy travailler et trouver du travail, si pas besoin de travailler, le visa de tourisme suffit, et vous ferez les démarches sur place. résidence provisoire et ensuite définitive)coût +- 1200 US$ Prenez : acte de naissance, situation de famille, passeport valide, et les preuves que vous pouvez subvenir à vos besoins sur place (rente, pension de retraite, épargne conséquente, gagné au loto etc..)
Parcourez tous les forums de Rep.dom. vous y trouverez les bons conseils, les bons avocats, (car il y'a malheureusement énormément de mauvais) et tous les bons plans.
n'acheter rien avant d'avoir vécu au moins six mois sur place, dans la ville ou station choisie; gardez une retraite possible, n'annulez rien en France (sécu, domicile, comptes bancaires, etc) avant d'être résident en Rep. Dom. et d'avoir pris toutes les sécurités possibles (assurances maladies et accidents...rappatriement sanitaire vers USA ou europe))
Beaucoup commence par choisir Boca chica, nombreux hotels longue durée à négocier)car c'est tout près de la Capitale, santo Domingo, pour les démarches, et vous bénéficiez quand même de la plage et de la station touristique mélangée touristes/dominicains

Moi j'ai craqué pour le sud Ouest, mais c'est très routard et inexploré, et du coup sans le confort que beaucoup ne sont pas près à "oublier" au moins un peu.

bonjour patrick, sur ce forum c'est bien toi qui a le plus la tête sur les épaules ton expérience est vraiment significative, tu sais de quoi tu parles. de mon côté je prépare gentiment mon départ, j'ai un peu d'argent, des projets, et puis on verra bien . ce n'est pas parce que c'est dur que nous n'osons pas, mais parce que nous n'osons pas que c'est dur.

So, I was wondering if it’s realistic to live on 500 or 600 € per month, and if so, under what conditions? Is that enough, considering I’ll be working 40 hours a week?

Our departure time is getting closer (we have less than 2 years left—it’s both a long time and so short!). To start preparing seriously, we’ll need quite a bit of info. If anyone knows the rates charged by movers for a crate to French Polynesia, or what pitfalls to avoid (I know you can get quotes directly from movers, but I’d love insights from actual customers😉).

Hi, I’m a self-employed physiotherapist in France, and as my wife (a nurse) and I look into working abroad in about two years, I’ve been offered an equivalence to become a respiratory physiotherapist in Switzerland. Actually, I’m currently doing a postgraduate diploma in pediatric respiratory physiotherapy and want to specialize in that area. Anyway, that’s not the main point—could anyone explain the pros and cons of doing this job in Switzerland? Starting this spring, we want to settle near Aix-en-Provence. We're tired of living in the mountains with all the snow—we really need some sunshine and a fresh start. I’m an osteopath and I’d like to set up and open an osteopathy practice in Thailand. I don’t have a precise location in mind yet, but I’m thinking maybe Hua Hin. I saw there’s an osteopath based in Phuket, so I wrote to him for some info, but he still hasn’t replied🤪!
So I’m reaching out to people who live there or know the country well: I’d like to know what the best ways are to advertise and get known in Thailand. Are there any local classifieds newspapers? First, I’d like to practice from my apartment. Is that allowed in Thailand? Ideally, I’d like to work part-time in a private hospital as an osteopath. I’m thinking that in Thailand, the medical field is much more open than in Europe!!! Has anyone seen an osteopath or chiropractor working in a Thai hospital? Do you know the price of a consultation?
