Je suis actuellement en train de planifier mon court séjour (14 jours) en Thaïlande.
La première partie de mon voyage (Bangkok/ Chiang Mai) est pas mal peaufinée. J'y passerais 9 jours en tout. Il me reste donc 5 jours pour le sud.
J'ai de l'intérêt pour Phuket et Koh Phi Phi.
Idéalement, j'aimerais séjourner au 2 endroits, ce qui veux dire que j'aurais 2 nuits à un endroit et 3 nuits à l'autre.
La question qui tue est la suivante: Lequel de ces 2 endroits mérite plus de temps (3 nuits)?
En ce qui nous concerne, nous désirons se détendre à la plage, peut-être une sortie en bateau afin de voir certaines plages, etc. Nous ne sommes pas du type hike et cie.

Je prévois un séjour de 3 semaines environ 20 jours voyages inclus en avril 2020.
Nous serons 4 adultes de 38, à 70 ans et 1 enfant de 9 ans .
Voici dans les grandes lignes ce que nous souhaitons découvrir :
Bangkok : lieu d’arrivée ( si vous avez des hôtels sympa à un prix raisonnable je suis preneuse )
Kanchanaburi et sa région dont le pont de la rivière kwai et les chutes d’erawan.
Changmaï et un centre de sauvegarde des éléphants
Et après les îles là où se situe mon plus grand dilemme, mer d’Andaman ou golf de Thaïlande
À vrai dire j’aimerai les 2 et en particulier , koh Lanta, koh Ngai, et koh tao.
Et aussi peut être une mini croisière pour faire quelques autres îles mais pas forcément loger dessus .
Concernant les îles mon but premier n’est pas les fonds marins mais le repos et la baignade dans des eaux cristallines à l’écart Du tourisme de masse et des fêtards.
Voilà pouvez vous m’aiguiller De sorte que j’optimise Les déplacements intérieurs . Dans quel sens dois je programmer ce circuit pour perdre le moins de temps dans les transports ?

I’m starting to plan my next trip to Southeast Asia this winter (2.5 months, leaving in early December), and here’s a rough outline of my route—I’d love to share it with you and hear your thoughts and tips.
- I’ll start in Bangkok and already have three spots I’ve marked: Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi, and Uthai Thani (I haven’t been to any of these places yet). - Next, I’d like to cross the country from west to east to reach the Laos border. I’d love suggestions for any interesting stops along this route—I don’t know this part of Thailand at all... - Then I’ll head into Laos, probably at Savannakhet (you can usually get a visa at the border). - > I’m tempted to spend a week in Hoi An, Vietnam, since I loved that city and the area when I visited two years ago. No visa needed for Vietnam now, so it could be a nice little detour. On the map, it doesn’t look too far, but I know you’ve got to be careful with these things, and I’m not sure if it’s a good idea. Any opinions on this? - Back to Laos (maybe via Dakta), and I’ll head south along the Mekong, probably doing the Bolaven Plateau loop that I missed last time. Then Paksé, the 4,000 Islands... I’ve been before, but I’d happily go back. - Crossing into Cambodia, I’ll follow the Mekong down to Phnom Penh (I know this area and love how untouristy it is). From there, I’ll probably spend a few days in Kep (quieter than Kampot). Still undecided, though. - Then back to Thailand (BKK), likely by plane from Phnom Penh since the borders between the two countries are currently closed (plus, let’s be honest, Cambodian roads... ;-). We’ll see how things look when the time comes. - After that, I’d like to explore southern Thailand, taking it slow with short hops. I’ve got my eye on Khao Sok National Park, and I’ve heard good things about Krabi... Again, I don’t know this region well, so any info or tips would be great.
So, I think this should be doable in 2.5 months, especially since I prefer short hops of 300 km max to avoid getting too tired, and I like staying 2-3 days in each place to explore. Plus, I’ll take a week off to relax if I find a spot I love—maybe by the sea for some real downtime.

Je pars en Thailande fin janvier, et après 9 jours dans les "îles" du sud-est (Kao Lak pour commencer, puis Koh Phiphi et Koh Lanta), et avant de prendre le vol retour à bangkok, il me restera 6 jours (et 5 nuits) dont trajets.
Initialement je pensais aller 3 jours à Koh Samui, puis rentrer en train de nuit de Surat Thani.
Mais au final je ne sais pas si c'est le bon choix.
Est-ce qu'il ne serait pas plus intéressant de passer 3 jours du côté de Prachuap Khiri Khan (et Bang Saphan), en remontant ? Ca a l'air très joli, et sans doute moins usine à touristes, qu'en pensez-vous ?
Je suis plus à la recherche de beaux paysages, sports (nautiques, rando, vélo), et plutôt authenticité (calme et nature) même si je sais que ça sera tout relatif sur ce point
Mais j'ai peur de me retrouver avec des trajets galère à gérer si je prends cette 2e option ; car alors ça ne serait pas possible de nuit.
Ou alors priviléger Koh Phan Ngan ? Ou combiner Koh Phan Ngan et Prachuap avec le bateau jusqu'à Chumpon ?
Un journée à Bangkok à l'arrivée avant le reprendre l'avion le soir est prévue et me suffira pour ce qui est de cette ville.

My husband and I are planning a trip to Thailand from January 2 to 10. Departure from Brussels on January 1 – arriving in Bangkok at 6:00 AM on January 2. Departure from Bangkok on January 11 at 2:00 AM, arriving in Brussels at 1:25 PM the same day. For professional and personal reasons, we can’t extend the trip.
I don’t plan on just lounging on a beach in Phuket, so with 9 days on the ground, I know it’s short... But having done this before in Hong Kong and Shanghai, I know it’s doable, refreshing, and enjoyable. We did it with the kids and included a 2- or 3-day stay at Disneyland in each city. Basically, we spent 5-6 days in each city.
Anyway, I’m reaching out because I’ve heard and read so many conflicting opinions that my head is spinning.
Following the saying, "don’t bite off more than you can chew," I’m assuming I should keep it simple. So I’m torn between just Bangkok or Bangkok and Chiang Mai.
If I go with the second option, I’m debating whether to head straight to Chiang Mai on the day we arrive (but given the flight times, we’d lose pretty much the whole day) or spend two days in Bangkok first, then go to Chiang Mai for 3-4 days, and return to Bangkok.

Plus les mois passent, plus je commence à me faire à l'idée qu'il y aura décidément un avant et un après pour ce pays que nous aimons tous. J'avoue humblement que je suis passé d'optimiste à pessimiste.
Aujourd'hui le gouvernement Thaï change les règles, et pour combien de temps
Nous savons maintenant avec certitude que ce sera le parcours du combattant pour y retourner cette année , sans parler du nerf de la guerre ce coût financier qui se dessine . (Assurance , quarantaine, test, bulle j'en passe etc ... )
Vais-je accepter payer une assurance la peau des fesses pour rester enfermé 14 jours dans un hôtel à 64€ par nuit. Ensuite on ne sait pas à quelle sauce on nous mettra sur des rails.
Suis-je le seul à penser cela ?
Enfermé depuis Mars , j'ai vraiment pas envie de rester en France cet hiver . ...
Mais pour aller ou ? Quel est le pays qui se rapproche le plus de la Thaïlande ?

I really loved Thailand, but it was too touristy for my taste. So I'm hesitating about going back and wondering if Cambodia or Vietnam would be less crowded with tourists...

Hi there, what’s good to do around BKK for 2 days outside of Bangkok? We’re wrapping up our Laos-Cambodia-Thailand trip. We don’t want to stay in BKK anymore (we’ve been there many times over the past 35 years), and someone mentioned Kanchanaburi. Is it worth it? Any other suggestions, keeping in mind we’re not looking for beaches (we already know Thailand’s beaches well). All recommendations are welcome—we’re on a tight schedule as we head back to Thailand on February 3rd and have 2 days to spend outside Bangkok from the 7th to the 9th of February. je commence à préparer mon voyage en thailande qui a lieu fin février début mars pour une période de 10 jours sur place (hors avion aller-retour). C'est court mais je n'ai pas pu avoir mieux :-( Nous sommes 2 adultes, sans enfants donc plus facile à bouger...
J'aimerais passer quelques jours sur la plage en fin de voyage (4 nuits je pense) mais pour le reste j'hésite : faut-il se contenter de Bangkok ou une escapade (peut être vers chiang mai) est-elle envisagable ? Combien de jours rester à Bangkok ? Je n'ai pas envie de tout faire au pas de course non plus...
Faut-il laisser tomber Chiang Mai (est-ce que je ne vais pas le regretter ?), et alors d'autres suggestions ?

I’m a die-hard fan of India, but it’s time I discovered Thailand too to broaden my Asian horizons.
I’m heading there on January 19, 2025, for a 46-day trip (no visa needed as I’m French). I’ve pored over a few guidebooks and travel blogs. Based on what caught my interest, I’ve put together a rough itinerary and list of sights. But since I know absolutely nothing about Thailand, I’m kind of flying blind here.
Since I’m not exactly a spring chicken anymore, I’ve opted for a few bases where I’ll stay several days in the same place. That way, I won’t have to change locations and hotels every day or so, packing and unpacking my suitcase constantly. Instead, I plan to explore the surrounding area each day, within a maximum radius of 50 to 70 km.
So, first question: Is that kind of round-trip distance manageable in a day in Thailand?
In India, renting a car for a day—with a driver—currently costs around 35 to 40 € per day. Knowing that 1,300 to 1,500 THB would be my absolute max, and even then, only if I don’t rent a car every single day.
Which brings me to my second question: Am I being unrealistic?
Otherwise—third question—once I’m settled in the city I’ve chosen as my base, can I get around within that 50–70 km radius using public transport?
I’ve already booked all my hotels—with free cancellation—on booking.com at an average price of 950/1,000 THB per night. Does that put me in a good range for value for money? Or am I dreaming?

de retour sur le forum, cette fois-ci je sollicite de l'aide des pros de la Thailande pour un avis sur un itinéraire.. Pour planter le décor, ce sera notre première dans un pays asiatique, nous sommes plutôt habitués aux voyages en Europe et l'ouest Américain, donc très peu de connaissance sur le "mode" Asie si ce n'est ce que j'ai lu a droite et à gauche dans les carnets de voyage... Nous envisageons ce voyage en janvier 2021 (ou on est pas en retard, mais pour commencer à regarder les prix des billets d'avion sans tarder, il fallait que j'ai une base...)
A priori, les tarifs des billets d'avion sont beaucoup plus intéressants sur du Lyon (aeroport proche de chez nous) Bangkok, mais pour un premier voyage en Thailande, nous n'avons pas envie de visiter cette énorme mégalopole... Et nous ne savons pas trop si sur le secteur Chiang Mai ou dans le centre et sud, nous pouvons louer une voiture, donc j'ai pour l'instant fait 2 options... Donc, l'itinéraire serait le suivant ...

En tenant compte que nous essayerons de choisir des hébergement de moyenne catégorie, pas de 25 € la nuit mais pas non plus des hebergements de luxe... A priori compter un hebergement assez cher pour la nuit sur le lac de Khao Sok, mais bon... J'ai vu qu'il fallait compter environ 20 € par jour pour une location de voiture, ce qui reste assez cher pour la Thailande, mais je suppose que sans voiture, si on additionne le train et les coûts de tranferts, guide (même si dans certains cas, on aura besoin de guide avec une voiture), cela devrait peut-être nous revenir largement plus cher ??? J'ai aussi pensé au système location de voiture avec chauffeur, mais cela veut dire qu'on aurait besoin de quelqu'un du jour 6 à 12, donc je pense assez cher aussi surtout si on veut un chauffeur qui parle Anglais. Dans ce cas là, les chauffeurs font-il guide en même temps, ou juste chauffeur et qu'on doive à chaque endroit prendre un guide si besoin ?? Désolée pour ces questions qui peuvent paraître bêtes, mais l'Asie est pour l'instant un grand mystère pour nous.
Enfin dernière chose, normalement nous partons seulement à 2 : si nous proposons à des amis de se joindre à nous et que nous sommes 4 ou 6, vaudrait-il le coup de demander à une agence française de nous organiser ce circuit avec chauffeur ? J'ai remarqué que les tarifs des agences sont chères pour 2 personnes mais que le prix baisse considérablement si on est plus nombreux : dans ce cas, avez-vous des agences à me conseiller car en tapant sur Google, il y en a à profusion...

de retour sur le forum, cette fois-ci je sollicite de l'aide des pros de la Thailande pour un avis sur un itinéraire.. Pour planter le décor, ce sera notre première dans un pays asiatique, nous sommes plutôt habitués aux voyages en Europe et l'ouest Américain, donc très peu de connaissance sur le "mode" Asie si ce n'est ce que j'ai lu a droite et à gauche dans les carnets de voyage... Nous envisageons ce voyage en janvier 2021 (ou on est pas en retard, mais pour commencer à regarder les prix des billets d'avion sans tarder, il fallait que j'ai une base...)
A priori, les tarifs des billets d'avion sont beaucoup plus intéressants sur du Lyon (aeroport proche de chez nous) Bangkok, mais pour un premier voyage en Thailande, nous n'avons pas envie de visiter cette énorme mégalopole... Et nous ne savons pas trop si sur le secteur Chiang Mai ou dans le centre et sud, nous pouvons louer une voiture, donc j'ai pour l'instant fait 2 options... Donc, l'itinéraire serait le suivant ...

Hi everyone, we’ll be in Thailand from August 2nd to 21st, arriving in Bangkok on the 2nd for a visit.
From the 5th to the 8th: Angkor temples.
Then, starting on the 9th, we’re planning to head to Chiang Mai, and by the 14th or 15th, we’d like to be on an island until the 19th, when we return to Bangkok. Five days in Chiang Mai seems a bit long to us. What do you recommend between the 9th and 15th, and which island? We’re not big fans of sunbathing—we’d love to snorkel and explore the island. Ideally, I’d have liked to find a house to rent, but every time, I end up with places far from the beach, whereas we’d really like to be able to walk to the beach for strolls. By the way, are there a lot of shells? Can we collect them? It seems that in August, swimming can sometimes be tricky due to tides—is that true?

My husband and I have been there several times before they were born—so that’s 15 years ago—and I’m a bit worried about some of the changes that might have happened since, especially with the rise in tourism...
I’d also like to keep a pace that allows us to settle in a bit and enjoy local life beyond just the main sights. Plus, we’re pretty active.
For now, our plan looks like this:
Arrival in Bangkok, where we’re thinking of spending several days (minimum 4) Chiang Mai for about a week 2 or 3 islands in the Gulf Return to Bangkok for 2 days before departure.
We’re pretty set on Bangkok and Chiang Mai, but we’re unsure about which islands to visit—I’ve read such mixed things that I’m even wondering if we should consider the coast instead. Organization-wise, I’d love any tips or feedback on whether we need to book in advance at this time of year, which transport options to prioritize (train, bus, or plane), and of course, any suggestions for stops or routes. Because of the kids, we haven’t traveled much in Asia, so we’d love to take advantage of their absence to explore Thailand. Even though I’m used to planning our trips, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed this time.
We’d like to visit Bangkok and head south by renting a car (we have an international driver’s license, and my husband has driven on the left before). I’ve managed to sketch out a rough itinerary that might work for us, and I’d love to hear your thoughts.
To set the scene: we haven’t booked anything yet, we don’t like spending hours on the beach (though a little time at the end of the day is fine), we love walking and sightseeing, and what we enjoy most is being independent (so if we can avoid group tours, that’s ideal).
After that intro, here’s the rough outline of our itinerary: Day 0: Paris-Bangkok flight Days 1, 2, and 3: Bangkok (Wat Pho, Grand Palace, Wat Arun, markets, boat ride through the khlongs, Jim Thompson House) Day 4: Ayutthaya Day 5: Pick up a rental car and head to Sam Roi Yot Day 6: Sam Roi Yot and Prachuap Khiri Khan Day 7: Drive south – overnight near Surat Thani Day 8: Uthayan Tham Khao Na Nai, then drive to Ao Nang (staying near Tubkaek) Days 9 and 10: Boat trips (Railay, Ko Hong, etc.) Day 11: Drive to Phang Nga with a few stops along the way Day 12: Boat tour (mangroves and Ko Tapu) Day 13: Drive to Phuket Airport and return flight
A few questions and doubts: - I’d considered Cheow Lan Lake but read some not-so-great reviews (crowds, just 3 viewpoints, and the rest was meh). What do you think? - Can we start from Ao Thalane Pier for trips to Ko Hong and Ko Tapu? - I’m not thrilled about driving through Bangkok, but I’m not sure where to rent a car west of the city (since we won’t return it to the same place, I assume it’s best to target rental companies at airports).

Nous allons louer une voiture à Hua Hin pour partir directement à Bang Saphan Yai puis remonter en passant par Prachuap Khiri Khan et Pranburi en 15 jours. Ma question est de savoir s'il existe une route côtière entre ces lieux plutôt que d'emprunter la 4 voies ? Et si oui, combien faut il de temps pour faire Hua Hin/Bang Saphan Yai par la côte ?

I’m planning a family trip to Thailand in July for 6 people: - 4 adults, 1 child aged 14, and 1 aged 9. We’ve started looking into travel agencies that specialize in the country and offer custom trips.
Our initial idea was a budget of 2500 € per person for a stay of around 14 days, including:
- 3/4 days in Bangkok (visiting temples, floating markets, Chinatown, river cruise, etc.) - Kanchanaburi - Ayutthaya - 3/4 days in Chiang Mai (elephant sanctuary, rice field visits, temples, etc.) - Then a domestic flight to finish the trip in Krabi for 3/4 days (free time + excursions to Koh Phi Phi and/or Phang Nga, for example).
I’d also have liked to visit Chiang Rai, Lopburi, and Sukhothai, but we’ll have to make some choices.
So, my question is: - Is it better to go through well-known agencies to plan our trip, or is it possible to use local agencies for visits with French-speaking guides (if needed) and book flights and hotels on our own?
Does a budget of 2500 € per person seem reasonable for this kind of classic itinerary?
I’ve received (or will receive) quotes from agencies like Evaneos, Tourlane, Havas, Sawa Discovery, Nomade Aventures, etc. They all seem very professional but offer rather high-end services.
If any of you have recommendations for local agencies, I’d love to hear about your experiences. Also, is it possible to organize this kind of trip to Thailand on your own?
I know I’m not being very original, but I really want to make this a fantastic vacation with the best tips possible to avoid cutting the trip short to fit my budget.

- I have a Free mobile plan with a good amount of data abroad (35GB). Do you know if the Bolt or Grab apps work well with a French SIM? I’ve read that the app might not work if the SIM isn’t Thai, but I’ve also seen French travelers using their SIMs in Thailand, so I’m not sure what to think.
- What tips do you have to avoid traveler’s diarrhea (especially for our 6- and 9-year-olds)? I’m already preparing them to wash their hands often and not put their hands in their mouths or brush their teeth with tap water (they’re still little and might not control the water well in their mouths). Are there certain dishes or food stands to avoid? Are ice cubes really off-limits too?
- We arrive in Bangkok at 9 AM, and we have a French-speaking guided tour scheduled for the next morning (all day). The itinerary isn’t finalized yet with the guide—I need to get back in touch soon. What do you recommend doing on that first day, which might be tiring after the long flight and jet lag? Our hotel has a nice pool, but I’d love for us to get out and explore a bit :-)
- Is the Grand Palace really best visited early in the morning to avoid crowds?
- I’d love to visit a night or floating market, but they’re all on weekends. Unfortunately, we’re in Bangkok from Wednesday to Saturday morning (then we take the train to Ayutthaya in the morning). So many things to see that I’m not sure what route to take for my two-week trip at the end of February. I initially thought about spending a few days in Chiang Mai and then heading down to Koh Samui and Koh Tao, but the travel time is long, and the flight from Chiang Mai to Koh Samui is really expensive. So, I’m looking for an alternative after Bangkok while keeping Koh Samui and Koh Tao. Maybe this itinerary, but I’d love your thoughts:
Day 1-3: Bangkok (3 days)

Je pars à Bangkok en voyage d'affaire le 2 décembre (la semaine prochaine donc) et mon vol retour est le 9 décembre. A partir du 5 décembre au soir, je n'ai plus rien à faire niveau affaires et j'envisageais donc d'aller visiter une ile Thailandaise pour me prélasser un peu jusqu'au 8 au soir (mon vol retour étant le 9 au matin).
Quel endroit me conseillez vous ? Facile d'accès et rapide depuis Bangkok donc et qui se fait facilement sur 3 jours.

Bonjour - Mon mari et moi même vivons en Thailande depuis qqs années. Cette année, du au Covid, nous avons décidé de ne pas rentrer en Europe pour diverses raisons. Nous avons donc décidé de faire le tour de Thailande pendant 3 semaines ou 4 semaines au départ de Krabi où nous avons notre résidence secondaire.
J'ai préparé un trajet, mais j aimerais avoir vos conseils
Tout d abord conseillez vous de réserver les hotels ou BB au jour le jour - Nous avons envie de visiter à notre rythme, et rester sur place plus de nuits que prévues si le coeur nous en dit.
Pouvez vous aussi, si vous êtes golfeur me dire où nous devrions nous poser plus longtemps afin de faire un petit parcours de golf.
Voici le trajet auquel j ai pensé
KRABI - Bang Saphan (2 nuits) - Sam Roi Yot - (2 nuits) - Kanchanaburi (2 nuits) - Chainat (1 nuit) - Mae Sot (2 nuits) - Lampang (1nuit) - Chiang Mai (3 nuits) - Chiang Rai (2 nuits) - Nan - (1 nuit) - Phitsalunok (3 nuits) - Loei (2 nuits) - Petchabun ou Chian Khan ou Sri Chiangmai (je suis un peu perdue par là ...... (2 nuits) - Hua Hin (qqs nuits) avant de reprendre la route vers Krabi.
Est ce envisageable ? Le nombre de nuits est il correct par rapport aux visites sur place

Confinement oblige, j'essaie d'organiser tranquillement mes vacances de l'année prochaine (et oui faut bien s'occuper!). Nous aimerions faire la Thaïlande car par un gros budget mais envie de rêver. Nous avons prévu de partir 15 jours en mars en arrivant à Bangkok, y rester 2 jours puis faire 1 île et revenir sur Bangkok encore 2 jours. Je précise que nous serons 2 adultes et 1 enfant de 5 ans. J'ai fais beaucoup de recherches et je n'arrive pas à me décider sur une île ! Nous aimerions ne pas être gêné par une musique assourdissante, des plages magnifiques mais aussi faire des visites car pas la peine de faire tout ce voyage si c'est juste pour glandouiller sur la plage... Voyageant avec un enfant l'idéal serait de pas trop galerer afin d'accéder à cette île! Je sais j'en demande beaucoup mais il doit bien y avoir une île qui regroupe la plupart de ces critères !
Du coup je voudrais bien un peu d'aide s'il vous plaît 🤗
