Voilà, je me suis basé sur les différentes informations que j'ai trouvé sur le net pour le temps à passer dans chaque ville mais c'est compliqué de savoir s'il faut rester plus ou moins à chaque fois. Je pense que j'ai peut-être mis un jour de trop à Jaipur que je voulais déplacer à Jodhpur ou New Delhi.

Qu'est-ce que vous en pensez ? Je suis ouvert à tout changement :)

Quel est le plus intéressant niveau tarif : - Réserver à l'avance une voiture avec chauffeur pour toute la durée du circuit ? J'ai vu des tarifs de 350 à 550 € pour 12 jours sur différents forums... 🤪 - Ou bien réserver directement à l'hôtel pour le lendemain ?

Avec safari soir et matin ensuite pour les ghats vu le peu de jours nous pensions aller à Pushkar car on pense que vanarasi est trop loin bien qu'une agence nous a proposé de le faire en train de nuit est ce que Pushkar suffit pour s'imprégner de l'ambiance

pour les sites du rajahstan : jaipur, jodhpur, amber, jailsamer, udaipur est ce qu'ils valent tous le coup d'être visités ? différents ? sachant qu'il y a beaucoup de kms entre l'option serait de prendre ou des vols (mais souvent çà perd une journée ?) ou des trains de nuit je vous mentionne ici les sites que je pensais faire mais peut être enlever jailsamer qui est le plus loin ? Enfin s'il y a des villages à voir où on baigne dans l'ambiance locale je suis preneuse j'ai vu Bundi ?

What’s the best way to get around? I was thinking of doing everything by train. Maybe taking the bus for some stretches?

As for renting a car with a driver, it seems expensive, so I’ve pretty much ruled that out. Unless someone’s got space for the same dates?

Our trip through Nepal, Rajasthan, South India, and the Andaman Islands. Dates: October 26 to January 14, 2025 Departure from Geneva to Kathmandu.

NEPAL, one month. 2 days of exploring between Kathmandu and Patan. 14 days of trekking from Kathmandu to Langtang, passing by sacred lakes. Trek with a French-speaking guide and 2 porters from the local French-speaking tour operator "NEPAL VOYAGE." Ended with a helicopter ride due to a wrist fracture on black ice at 3,900m. 3 days in the hospital in Kathmandu. Continued the trip in Nepal with a self-guided stay in Bhaktapur and Pokhara. Returned to Kathmandu by plane, then flew to Delhi.

RAJASTHAN. 18 days touring Rajasthan with a French-speaking driver "RAVINDRA MENA." Highlights: Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur*, Ranakpur*, Udaipur*, Bundi, Pushkar*, Jaipur, Agra, Jaipur (Top spots marked with *). Flight from Jaipur to Kochi.

KERALA. Kochi, 3 nights—disappointing, but the Backwaters to the north by scooter were stunning and not touristy. Kochi to Varkala by Uber with a Canadian couple. Varkala, 4 nights—great for relaxing, but scooter rentals weren’t available, which was a shame. Varkala to Munroe Island by train. 2 nights in Monroe. Munroe Island to Kumilly. 2 nights on Christmas Day—meh, not much to do since all the park excursions were booked by Indian tourists. Kumilly to Munnar by local taxi, negotiated the day before. Munnar—processions, tea fields, and *so* many Indian tourists during this period that it was impossible to find scooters to rent.

TAMIL NADU Crossed Tamil Nadu from Munnar to Auroville in 3 days, stopping at the extraordinary Tamil temples of Madurai, Trichy, Thanjavur, Darasuram, Chidambaram, and others. With the lunar conjunction, pilgrimages, and year-end holidays, there were *tons* of pilgrims! Auroville to Pondicherry by scooter, then a tuk-tuk for New Year’s Eve—still *so* crowded! Pondicherry to Mahabalipuram by local bus. Mahabalipuram, 2 nights—nice and chill. Mahabalipuram to Chennai by Uber.

ANDAMAN ISLANDS Chennai to Port Blair by flight, Andaman Islands. Port Blair, 2 nights—almost too much! Speedboat to Havelock, 4 nights—still lots of Indian tourism. Couldn’t go snorkeling with a dive operator or rent gear. Luckily, we managed to buy some and do it ourselves. Speedboat to Neil Island, 3 days, 2 nights—too short, but excellent snorkeling from "Elephant, Four Wise Men." Phew, no biting flies, and we weren’t eaten by crocodiles. Back to Port Blair, then Delhi, one night, and return to Geneva.

Our impressions of India. Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu—we eventually got tired of palaces and temples. It’s always complicated and exhausting to get around on foot in the cities. During the year-end period from mid-December to mid-January, *so* many tourists! The Andaman Islands were a bit disappointing—too short, and for snorkeling, Indonesia is easier and less expensive.

I traveled to India and Nepal in March 2024 and hired a driver through an online agency. No issues—the agency was great, nothing to complain about—but it turns out that booking directly with the driver is much cheaper. Based on my conversations with him, I’m not paid or commissioned in any way; I’m just sharing this to help you save some money and recommend a good driver. So don’t hesitate to DM me if you want his contact info. I’m doing this for you and for the driver, who’d also prefer to keep a little more of the margin instead of it going to the agency.

I used his services for 10 days, and I can only recommend him—he was my guardian angel in India, gave great advice, was super reliable, and very professional. So feel free to ask me for his contact if you’re interested; otherwise, no worries! ^^

My partner and I (we're seniors) are leaving at the end of January for a 40-day trip to India, arriving in Cochin and departing from Delhi. After reading lots of travel journals about India, I’ve put together an itinerary, but I’m worried it might be too (very?) packed... Here’s my plan:

5 or 6 days in the backwaters Munnar: 1 or 2 nights? Ideally next: Madurai, Trichy, Tanjore, Kumbakonam, Chidambaram, Pondi, Mahabalipuram (number of nights in each place to be decided if I keep Tamil Nadu) Flight from Chennai to Varanasi Varanasi: 2 or 3 nights Overnight train to Agra Agra: 1 night Drive to Jaipur with a stop in Fatehpur Sikri Jaipur: 3 nights Bundi: 3 nights Drive to Udaipur with a stop in Chittorgarh? Udaipur: 2 nights Drive to Jodhpur with a stop in Ranakpur Jodhpur: 1 night Jaisalmer: 3 nights Flight to Delhi, then back to France.

This all feels *very* packed. We’re thinking of taking taxis between cities fairly often if public transport is too complicated or time-consuming. Do you think this is doable? Otherwise, the alternative would be to spend more time in Kerala (though we’re not really beach people) and skip Tamil Nadu (which I’d hate to do!!) to focus more on the north instead. We’ve never been to India before, and I’m a little worried about feeling overwhelmed with all the city and temple visits. We’re more used to alternating nature and culture. Looking forward to your valuable advice to finalize our itinerary!

Notre voyage en Inde se précise, nous partons du 13 février au 29 février prochains (nous sommes 4 personnes, mon mari, mes 2 enfants 19 et 15 ans et moi) . Nous avons réservé les billets d'avion et nous partons avec la Lufthansa avec une escale à Francfort. J'ai également contacté un chauffeur qui viendra nous chercher à l'aéroport de Jodhpur le 15/02 et nous conduira jusqu'à Delhi le 19/02. Il possède une Toyota Innova et pour le circuit avec le chauffeur cela me coûte 415 euros.

Voici mon programme, qui j'en ai conscience est très serré : 14/02 : Arrivé à Delhi à 00 h 40, j'ai réservé l’hôtel "Grand Godwin" ce dernier nous envoie une navette pour le trajet aéroport/hôtel. Pendant la journée visite de Delhi (avec Civitatis). 15/02 : Le matin, départ en avion vers Jodhpur. Réservation de l’hôtel DEVIBHAWAN. Le chauffeur nous récupère à l'aéroport. Visite de la ville. 16/02 : Départ pour Jaipur(en voiture). Réservation de l'hôtel Umaid Mahal. 17/02 : Visite de Jaipur 18/02 : Jaipur le matin et l'après-midi direction Agra. Réservation de l'hôtel Crystal Sarovar Première. 19/02 : Matin visite Taj Mahal et direction Delhi. Réservation hôtel Trident Nariman. 20/02 : Départ en avion vers GOA où l'on rejoint des amis qui vivent là-bas. 21/02 au 27/02 : visite GOA et alentours avec nos amis 27/02 : Départ vers Mumbai 28/02 : visite Mumbai 29/002 : Départ vers Paris.

J'ai besoin d'un peu d'aide en ce qui concerne la visite du Taj Mahal. Dois-je faire la visite à l'aube ? et par ailleurs peut-on réserver/acheter les billets pour le Taj en avance. Merci de votre aide Sophie

Bonjour, Je prépare mon Xème voyage, (pour janvier/février/mars dans le sud de l'Inde) et comme d'habitude, je cherche entre autre les hotels sur Tripadvisor. Et là depuis 1 mois et demi que je regarde, je suis confrontée pour la 1ère fois à une flambée des prix inimaginable qui m'inquiète un peu. Genre une nuit à 300 ou 400 euros au lieu 25 en temps normal. Je n'ai jamais vu ça sur aucune destination ! La 1ère fois, je me suis dit que c'était un bug du site, mais je vois que cela persiste ! Et même dans les terres, pas seulement en bord de mer. Est ce que je dois m'inquiéter ? Je ne voudrais pas réserver dans des bouibouis : seuls hotels qui restent abordables dans beaucoup de villes. Faut-il vraiment réserver pour cette période ? Merci de votre aide !

Nous venons de passer 9 jours de Delhi à Udaipur en compagnie de Jaypal, notre chauffeur gérant de la compagnie Cha India Tour, et nous n'avons que des compliments à faire sur lui et sa société : il a tout fait pour que nous passions un merveilleux séjour et pour nous permettre de voir le maximum de choses en peu de temps.

Jaypal est sympa, très attentionné, nous nous sommes toujours sentis en sécurité en sa présence. Il nous a donné pleins de conseils utiles et nous a proposé différentes visites très intéressantes auxquelles nous n'avions pas pensé.

Sa voiture est toujours propre, sa conduite est prudente et agréable.

Nous avons également rencontré son frère Prem qui est tout aussi sympa et prudent.

Ils disposent d'une voiture toute neuve, et tout confort, permettant de transporter jusqu'à six voyageurs.

Nous ne pouvons que recommander fortement cette agence ! Merci infiniment Jaypal pour ce séjour inoubliable !

Nous sommes rentrés d'Inde la semaine dernière avec une grosse surprise en fin de voyage avec notre chauffeur.

Nous sommes restés 28 jours avec lui à faire un tour complet du Rajasthan. Nous sommes passés par une agence de Delhi pour trouver ce chauffeur et nous avons strictement suivi l'itinéraire que nous avions prévu nous-mêmes avant d'arriver. Tout nous semblait bien se passer pendant ce circuit.

Puis est arrivé le dernier jour et le moment crucial du pourboire. Comme c'était notre premier voyage de ce type, nous nous étions renseignés sur internet pour savoir combien il était d'usage et raisonnable de donner. D'après les informations que nous avions pu trouver, nous avons décidé de donner 10 % du montant total payé à l'agence (46 euros par jour). Et là, énorme déception et colère (contenue) de notre chauffeur qui n'a pas pu se retenir, tout de même, de nous dire que ce montant était ridiculement bas par rapport à ce qu'il espérait.

Nous en sommes restés là, déçus lui comme nous de cette fin d'aventure en nous posant beaucoup de questions auxquelles nous n'avons pas de réponses.

Quelqu'un pourrait-il nous dire si 10 % vous semble correct ?

I'm thinking of making the trip from Mysore to Cochin by private car (with a driver, of course) in one day. I'd love to get an idea of the price and travel time (and if you know a reliable agency).

Alternatively, maybe it's more interesting to do this trip by bus? I'm worried it might take much longer than with a private car. This will be my first trip to South India, and I'm not really sure about travel times or how easy it is to get around by local buses or trains. Thanks!

QUE VOIR DS CETTE REGION DE L Inde (pour ma part ce sera mon 7ème voyage ds ce pays mais ce sera 1ère fois au GUJARAT)

3 semaines est ce trop long dans cette région?

Faut-il prendre un chauffeur local ou peut on se débrouiller aisément seuls?

Nous aimons vivre au plus près de la population, partager leurs coutumes, visiter leurs structures scolaires, découvrir des villages typiques et même partager leur vie, voir les marchés, leur artisanat, fuyons les endroits trop touristiques, et pas trop fans de safaris mais grands marcheurs. Et nous aimons prendre notre temps.

QUE NOUS CONSEILLEZ VOUS ? réserver les 2 premiers jours hôtels puis recherche ensuite sur place en fonction du parcours? CONNAISSEZ VOUS DES GUESTS HOUSES SYMPATHIQUES, des "huts eco-friendly" ou des petits hôtel simples mais propres?

Bonjour, Début novembre je retournerai au Kerala quelques jours Je vais aller directement de l'aéroport de Kochi à Kumily . Je vais aller depuis l'aéroport à Perumbavoor où je prendrai un bus . Pour info pour aller en taxi depuis l'aéroport à Kumily j'ai eu un devis de 3700 rs . C'est pour ça que je vais faire la plus grande partie du trajet en bus. J'étais tentée soit par un taxi Uber pour aller jusqu'à Perumbavoor soit prendre un rickshaw. Donc voilà mes questions : 1) si je prends un Uber comment ça marche ? 2) si je prends un rickshaw où dois je le prendre et quelqu'un aurait une idée du prix , c'est à environ 14 kms. Merci

We’d love some tips and suggestions for a trip to India we’re planning for February 2026:

We’re a couple in our 70s based in Canada (Montreal), and we’re planning a 3-week trip to India in February 2025.

We’re looking for a moderate pace, with comfortable but authentic and immersive accommodations, and good service.

Ideally:

Northern India (Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Udaipur, Ranthambore) Southern India (Kerala): Cochin, backwaters (cruise), Munnar

Charming or traditional lodgings (haveli, guesthouse, small hotels), comfortable without being luxurious.

Travel by train where possible, and with a private driver for the rest, plus likely a domestic flight.

Hi everyone, for my 6th trip to India, I’ve chosen Ladakh and Zanskar. I’m planning a 15-day itinerary with a driver (one week in Ladakh and one week in Zanskar). I’m looking for info and tips from people who’ve recently traveled to these regions—anything that could help me prepare my route, must-see spots (or not!), accommodation advice, etc. Is it necessary to visit all three main lakes usually included in traditional circuits (Tso Moriri, Pangong, and Tso Kar)? In the Nubra Valley, the Hunder dunes with the camels don’t really tempt me given the mixed reviews... What do you think? Big question about altitude sickness—I’ve read that you should take it easy for a full day before hitting the road. Is that enough, or should I plan an extra day? Is it easy and quick to get the Inner Line Permit for the regions where it’s required? Thanks in advance for your tips!

Bonjour, Et oui, j'ai commis une erreur depuis déja vue sur les forums du net: J'arrive à Delhi le 30 juillet 2020, un jeudi matin (09h35, vol Air India), et je pensais bêtement visiter le Taj Mahal le lendemain matin, mais voila, c'est fermé le vendredi, tous les vendredis... On est une famille de 5, deux adultes et 3 ados-jeunes adultes, et on a réservé une voiture avec chauffeur pour notre séjour en Inde. Celui çi nous attendra à l'aeroport Indira Gandhi, et nous partirons directement pour Agra.. Entre formalités administratives (nous aurons des evisa, il faut que je m'en occupe), recupération des bagages et trajet en voiture, pensez vous qu'il est raisonnable d'envisager une visite du Taj Mahal en fin de journée, genre 16h? Bonjour à tous, J'envisage un circuit organisé de 13 jours avec ASIA au Rajasthan, appelé l'essentiel du Rajasthan. Quelqu'un a t-il déjà fait ce circuit et quelles ont été vos impressions ? D'autre part, adaptateur pour prises de courant ou pas ?

Bonjour je n'arrive pas à me décider sur les étapes en bus et ça presse pour les réservations... Qatar airways pour Cochin le 1er janvier, 2 nuits (1j et demi en fait) Pourrai-je voir les backwaters de là ? Départ en bus de Cochin pour Periyar le 3me jour afin de visiter le lendemain. Mais hormis la ballade en bateau qu'y faire? (je ne suis pas bon marcheur, j'aime surtout la nature, les paysages) >aurais-je dû partir plutot sur Munnar puisque les chances de voir de gros animaux à Periyar sont minimes? >je peux toujours ajouter Munar après Périyar mais est-ce si différent et facile de passer de l'un à l'autre? Quelle que soit l'option Madurai semble sur le chemin (1 nuit max) Mais ensuite, par où passer afin de ne pas voir que des grandes villes genre Trichy avec des temples dont je me lasserai vite? Je finirai par Pondichery (+Gingee?) et Mamallapuram Si c'était à refaire j'aurais atterri à Goa et mon emploi du temps aurait été bien rempli ... Merci de m'avoir lu
