Je viens de regarder les chiffres du tourisme .Et c'est bien ce que je pensais le nombre de voyageurs/touristes pour la Thailande a explosé .On me dira qu'il y a pas mal de chinois dans le lot.Je me demande si c'est pas comme aller à Noire moutier ou sur la côte d'Azur désormais en pleine été.

Je lis sur le forum que les prix ont explosé .Effet du tourisme de masse ?

Il y a aussi le change 1€ pour 34 baths qui pique.Je suis parti à l'époque des 1€ = 45/50 baths.2005 à 2008 J'ai fais 1 an en tous là bas.

Est ce que vous avez vu une sacrée différence sur la période 2010 jusqu'à maintenant? J'ai l'impression que c'est par tranche...

Avec les reportage tv en Fr, j'ai aussi l'impression que ça a rameuté pas mal de monde. Je suis rentré dans une boutique des jeunes vendeurs parlaient de leurs futurs vacances en Thailande. Il y a 15/20 ans ces jeunes seraient parti sur la côte d'azur , noiremoutier...Alors qu'il y avait des billets pas cher .J'avais payé allé retour 550€ en 2005.

Je pense pas que je retournerai en Thailande car plus le temps que j'avais à 25 ans.Je m'oriente plus vers des endroits ou il y a moins de tourisme de masse, pour l'Asie du Sud Est mais c'est pas au programme pour l'instant.

(Partir en vacances pour retrouver Nanard entrains de se faire gueuler dessus par Ginette .Car Popole commençait à se lever pendant le massage thai. vu à Khao San ou voir Magloire et Momo et mauricette et zoubida "vas y va la baiser c'est toute des putes les thaies!" vu au skytrain etc.Non merci)

J'imagine les gens qui y ont été dans les années 80/90 ça devait vraiment être top.Moi 2005 c'était sympas après j'ai commencé à voir que l'engouement monté.

Après on nous bassine avec la fin du pétrole mais les billets longs trajets sont vraiment pas cher.Je pense que c'est ça aussi qui crame la destination.

Hello, I’m heading to Thailand for two weeks at the end of February with my family. I went there 20 years ago. I’d love your thoughts on a relaxed two-week trip that lets me show my kids the joys of travel while also taking time to unwind (after all, it *is* vacation! :)) I’m planning to spend 2 days in Bangkok, then take the overnight train to Chiang Mai (so my kids can experience that) and stay for 2-3 nights. After that, I’ll fly to Phuket for a few nights, then head to Koh Lanta for a few days before returning to Phuket to make my way back to Bangkok for the last two days before departure. Tons of people travel for two weeks during this time—any recommendations? So far, I only have my round-trip flight ticket to Bangkok. Thanks in advance!

My husband and I are planning a trip to Thailand from January 2 to 10. Departure from Brussels on January 1 – arriving in Bangkok at 6:00 AM on January 2. Departure from Bangkok on January 11 at 2:00 AM, arriving in Brussels at 1:25 PM the same day. For professional and personal reasons, we can’t extend the trip.

I don’t plan on just lounging on a beach in Phuket, so with 9 days on the ground, I know it’s short... But having done this before in Hong Kong and Shanghai, I know it’s doable, refreshing, and enjoyable. We did it with the kids and included a 2- or 3-day stay at Disneyland in each city. Basically, we spent 5-6 days in each city.

Anyway, I’m reaching out because I’ve heard and read so many conflicting opinions that my head is spinning.

Following the saying, "don’t bite off more than you can chew," I’m assuming I should keep it simple. So I’m torn between just Bangkok or Bangkok and Chiang Mai.

If I go with the second option, I’m debating whether to head straight to Chiang Mai on the day we arrive (but given the flight times, we’d lose pretty much the whole day) or spend two days in Bangkok first, then go to Chiang Mai for 3-4 days, and return to Bangkok.

I’m looking for a beach spot within 3 hours max of Bangkok for the end of my trip (January). I know full well I won’t find that postcard-perfect vibe of the more remote islands! But I don’t have a choice. If you’ve got any ideas... no high-rises, obviously not Pattaya, somewhere quiet, swimming possible, a hotel right on the beach (and not too dirty, the beach itself!) I’ve looked at hotels around Ko Samet or, across from it, on the mainland. I spotted the Bann Pae Cabana. But nothing really exciting on either side. New ideas welcome! 🙂

Arrival – 2 nights in Bangkok (any hotel recommendations? Very quiet, near Chinatown or by the river)

Train or taxi (which app should I use for Thailand?) to Phetchaburi – 2 nights (any hotel recommendations?)

Daytime train to Surat Thani – 1 night there (any hotel recommendations?)

Pick up the rental car and head to Khao Sok – 1 night there (any hotel recommendations?)

Drive to Ko Kho Khao – 3 nights – relaxation (any hotel recommendations?)

Drive to Phang Nga Bay – 1 night (any base recommendations?)

Excursion in the bay, then drive to Krabi – 2 nights (any hotel recommendations) or any other spot with beautiful, quiet beaches that you might know?

Return to Surat Thani – overnight train to Bangkok, then Ayutthaya (any hotel recommendations?)

Visit the site and transfer to the airport – sniff, time to head back!

If you have other suggestions, keeping in mind the trip’s vibe: beach time without crowds or entertainment, a bit of nature, a bit of culture, no stress... No domestic flights and charming accommodations (not at 150 € per night, even though the budget is reasonable!)

Not sure I’ll follow them all, but all your ideas are welcome! 😉

Hi everyone, My girlfriend and I booked our tickets with Saudia Airlines for a trip to Thailand this summer, from July 5th to August 3rd. Given the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, we’re keeping a close eye on the news. I was wondering if anyone here is in the same situation as us? • Have you heard anything about possible mass cancellations or if the airline is still maintaining its routes to Asia? • Are there any travelers who’ve recently returned who could tell us if air corridors have been changed (longer flight times)? et pour terminer le périple nous voulons trouver un petit coin de paradis au bord de mer/océan pour voir de beaux paysages, se détendre, nager et plonger avec masque et tuba. Le problème c'est que je trouve de tout comme avis, du bon , du mauvais, une info et son contraire et je ne sais plus quoi penser. je lis dans plusieurs posts que les îles de thailande qui étaient paradisiaques ne le sont plus, que ce sont des poubelles, qu'elles sont détruites par le tourisme de masse, que les coraux sont morts, que les poissons ne sont plus là, que l'on ne peut être que déçus...

Alors si vous avez fait un voyage en thailande récemment, dites-moi si c'est vrai, s'il vous plait. ou bien donnez-moi une lueur d'espoir en me donnant une adresse, un lieu encore préservé où il reste quelques poissons colorés et exotiques à voir. Est-ce que les requins et les tortues dont tout le monde parle sont là ou pas? si oui où sont-ils? Ou bien est-ce du bluff purement commercial?

Bonjour, Nous partons bientôt en Thaïlande en famille (avec nos 2 enfants de 7 et 9 ans). Nous allons louer une voiture à Hua Hin pour partir directement à Bang Saphan Yai puis remonter en passant par Prachuap Khiri Khan et Pranburi en 15 jours. Ma question est de savoir s'il existe une route côtière entre ces lieux plutôt que d'emprunter la 4 voies ? Et si oui, combien faut il de temps pour faire Hua Hin/Bang Saphan Yai par la côte ?

Les vols ne sont pas encore achetés nous attendons selon notre itinéraire. 3 nuits sur Krabi (1 journée Hong Island et 1 journée a Koh Rok et Koh Haa) 5 nuits Koh Lipe 5 nuits Koh Phi Phi Par contre dans quel sens faut il faire cet itinéraire pour avoir le moins de temps de trajet moins de perte de temps possible et par quel moyen de transport pour aller d’une île à une autre. Avec ma compagne et notre fille de 16 mois, nous partons en Thaïlande en novembre prochain pour 3 semaines. Au programme (grosses mailles ...) : Bangkok, Ayuthaya, Chiang Mai et une destination balnéaire. Concernant cette destination balnéaire, l'embarras du choix me laisse un peu perplexe pour le moment. Je rechercherais une île / endroit où nous pourrions rester entre 4 et 6 jours, avec du farniente mais aussi des activités parce que je suis plutôt du style à ne pas tenir en place ! Ça peut être de la balade, visites, etc ... Railay semblait pas mal, mais les activités tournent beaucoup autour de l'escalade ...

Bref, je suis preneur d'idées :)

We have the opportunity to get away for a little two-week trip at the very beginning of January, just the two of us, without our kids. Because of the kids, we haven’t traveled much in Asia, so we’d love to take advantage of their absence to explore Thailand. Even though I’m used to planning our trips, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed this time.

We’d like to visit Bangkok and head south by renting a car (we have an international driver’s license, and my husband has driven on the left before). I’ve managed to sketch out a rough itinerary that might work for us, and I’d love to hear your thoughts.

To set the scene: we haven’t booked anything yet, we don’t like spending hours on the beach (though a little time at the end of the day is fine), we love walking and sightseeing, and what we enjoy most is being independent (so if we can avoid group tours, that’s ideal).

After that intro, here’s the rough outline of our itinerary: Day 0: Paris-Bangkok flight Days 1, 2, and 3: Bangkok (Wat Pho, Grand Palace, Wat Arun, markets, boat ride through the khlongs, Jim Thompson House) Day 4: Ayutthaya Day 5: Pick up a rental car and head to Sam Roi Yot Day 6: Sam Roi Yot and Prachuap Khiri Khan Day 7: Drive south – overnight near Surat Thani Day 8: Uthayan Tham Khao Na Nai, then drive to Ao Nang (staying near Tubkaek) Days 9 and 10: Boat trips (Railay, Ko Hong, etc.) Day 11: Drive to Phang Nga with a few stops along the way Day 12: Boat tour (mangroves and Ko Tapu) Day 13: Drive to Phuket Airport and return flight

A few questions and doubts: - I’d considered Cheow Lan Lake but read some not-so-great reviews (crowds, just 3 viewpoints, and the rest was meh). What do you think? - Can we start from Ao Thalane Pier for trips to Ko Hong and Ko Tapu? - I’m not thrilled about driving through Bangkok, but I’m not sure where to rent a car west of the city (since we won’t return it to the same place, I assume it’s best to target rental companies at airports).

Je pars avec ma compagne en Thaïlande fin janvier. J'ai déjà prévu un petit itinéraire mais j'ai un trou au milieu, que je ne sais pas par quoi occuper tant tout me semble attirant. En gros nous souhaiterions débuter notre séjour par quelques jours à Bangkok puis deux jours au Khao Yai.

La grande question que je me pose est ou aller entre le Khao Yai et le sud. Sachant que le 25 c'est le nouvel an Chinois (hôtels sans doute full dans pas mal de coins j'imagine). Du coup, soit on reste dans la région du centre, soit on monte au nord et puis avion vers le sud. Bref je suis un peu perdu, tout me semble attirant. On ne cherche rien en particulier si ce n'est découvrir du pays. 4 jours ce n'est pas tellement donc je préfèrerais éviter les gros trajets (de jour en tout cas).

Nous passerons la fin de notre séjour sur une île (avion? train de nuit? bus?). Probablement Koh Yao Noï sur les conseils d'un ami ou Koh Kood mais si vous avez d'autres propositions je suis partant :) Nous cherchons un endroit calme, sans prétention, sans fiesta avec une possibilité de sorties snorkeling de qualité.

Sawadee krap! En mars prochain, jedébarquerai à Bangkok et avant d'aller sur mon île secrète, je vais faire un détour au nord de Bangkok pour aller visiter deux vignobles thaïs; Gran Monte Estate et PB Valley Winery (et peut-être Village Farm & Winery).

J'aimerais connaître les meilleurs moyens de transports possibles (taxi, bus, train?) pour se rendre dans ce coin-là (Nakhon Ratchasima 30320) de Bangkok (Dusit) et les prix moyens que je peux m'attendre à payer, le temps pour s'y rendre, etc. Et tant qu'à faire, une petite GH bien située et pas trop chère comme pied-à-terre. Je pense y rester deux jours, peut-être trois car il y beaucoup à voir dans cette région.

Bonjour, dans un but collaboratif et à destination des non connaisseurs, je me permets un petit compte rendu de notre voyage en Thaïlande du 8/07 au 25/07. Au programme, Ayutthaya - Sukhothai - Chiang Mai - Ko Kood - Bangkok. Nous étions 7 personnes, 4 adultes et 3 ados.

Pour commencer, nous nous sommes aperçus trop tard que les passeports de nos filles n'avaient pas 6 mois de validité comme exigé. Après beaucoup de stress, on est passé sans problème, je relate cette expérience dans un autre post. Vol avec Swiss air et Thai airways, courte escale à Zurich (1h), ne pas trainer dans l’aéroport car c'est grand ! Arrivé Bangkok tôt le matin, une valise était manquante, elle a été livrée à notre hôtel le surlendemain. Pour le trajet jusqu’à Ayutthaya, nous avions réservé un minivan pour plus de confort et moins de stress. Sur le site 12go, cela coute approximativement 70e, soit 10e par tête. Arrivée à Ayutthaya, hôtel : Ruen Tubtim, très bel hôtel situé à 10min du centre ville en bateau privatif. La ville : sans grand intérêt à part bien sûr les très beaux temples et le marché de nuit. Une journée de visite suffit. Trajet Ayutthaya -Sukhothai en bus 3 étoiles, pensez à réserver 2 jours avant ! 5 heures de trajet mais pause repas sympa comprise dans le prix. Sukhothai : logé au Foresto, hôtel très sympa en plus centre ville. La ville : une rue principale mais l’intérêt se trouve à une dizaine de km de là avec les temples. Je précise que l'on a souvent utilisé les songthaews, très pratiques à 7 ! Les temples se font à vélo, magnifiques et belle expérience.

Hi there, what’s good to do around BKK for 2 days outside of Bangkok? We’re wrapping up our Laos-Cambodia-Thailand trip. We don’t want to stay in BKK anymore (we’ve been there many times over the past 35 years), and someone mentioned Kanchanaburi. Is it worth it? Any other suggestions, keeping in mind we’re not looking for beaches (we already know Thailand’s beaches well). All recommendations are welcome—we’re on a tight schedule as we head back to Thailand on February 3rd and have 2 days to spend outside Bangkok from the 7th to the 9th of February. Hi everyone, I’m starting to plan my next trip to Southeast Asia this winter (2.5 months, leaving in early December), and here’s a rough outline of my route—I’d love to share it with you and hear your thoughts and tips.

- I’ll start in Bangkok and already have three spots I’ve marked: Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi, and Uthai Thani (I haven’t been to any of these places yet). - Next, I’d like to cross the country from west to east to reach the Laos border. I’d love suggestions for any interesting stops along this route—I don’t know this part of Thailand at all... - Then I’ll head into Laos, probably at Savannakhet (you can usually get a visa at the border). - > I’m tempted to spend a week in Hoi An, Vietnam, since I loved that city and the area when I visited two years ago. No visa needed for Vietnam now, so it could be a nice little detour. On the map, it doesn’t look too far, but I know you’ve got to be careful with these things, and I’m not sure if it’s a good idea. Any opinions on this? - Back to Laos (maybe via Dakta), and I’ll head south along the Mekong, probably doing the Bolaven Plateau loop that I missed last time. Then Paksé, the 4,000 Islands... I’ve been before, but I’d happily go back. - Crossing into Cambodia, I’ll follow the Mekong down to Phnom Penh (I know this area and love how untouristy it is). From there, I’ll probably spend a few days in Kep (quieter than Kampot). Still undecided, though. - Then back to Thailand (BKK), likely by plane from Phnom Penh since the borders between the two countries are currently closed (plus, let’s be honest, Cambodian roads... ;-). We’ll see how things look when the time comes. - After that, I’d like to explore southern Thailand, taking it slow with short hops. I’ve got my eye on Khao Sok National Park, and I’ve heard good things about Krabi... Again, I don’t know this region well, so any info or tips would be great.

So, I think this should be doable in 2.5 months, especially since I prefer short hops of 300 km max to avoid getting too tired, and I like staying 2-3 days in each place to explore. Plus, I’ll take a week off to relax if I find a spot I love—maybe by the sea for some real downtime.

I’m planning a family trip to Thailand in July for 6 people: - 4 adults, 1 child aged 14, and 1 aged 9. We’ve started looking into travel agencies that specialize in the country and offer custom trips.

Our initial idea was a budget of 2500 € per person for a stay of around 14 days, including:

- 3/4 days in Bangkok (visiting temples, floating markets, Chinatown, river cruise, etc.) - Kanchanaburi - Ayutthaya - 3/4 days in Chiang Mai (elephant sanctuary, rice field visits, temples, etc.) - Then a domestic flight to finish the trip in Krabi for 3/4 days (free time + excursions to Koh Phi Phi and/or Phang Nga, for example).

I’d also have liked to visit Chiang Rai, Lopburi, and Sukhothai, but we’ll have to make some choices.

So, my question is: - Is it better to go through well-known agencies to plan our trip, or is it possible to use local agencies for visits with French-speaking guides (if needed) and book flights and hotels on our own?

Does a budget of 2500 € per person seem reasonable for this kind of classic itinerary?

I’ve received (or will receive) quotes from agencies like Evaneos, Tourlane, Havas, Sawa Discovery, Nomade Aventures, etc. They all seem very professional but offer rather high-end services.

If any of you have recommendations for local agencies, I’d love to hear about your experiences. Also, is it possible to organize this kind of trip to Thailand on your own?

I know I’m not being very original, but I really want to make this a fantastic vacation with the best tips possible to avoid cutting the trip short to fit my budget.

Hi there, We're heading to Thailand with our two kids (9 years old) for two weeks next February (2026). We plan to rent a car to stay independent and explore a bit off the beaten path. Still, we'd like to spend 1 or 2 nights on a nice, quiet island—just for some relaxation and especially snorkeling (even though I know it's not the best country for beautiful corals).

I've read dozens of forum pages and travel journals, but I'm still overwhelmed and can't decide where to go for a peaceful paradise-like beach with good snorkeling opportunities. We don’t need comfort—Robinson Crusoe-style camping or hammock nights work perfectly for us. No electricity or signal is totally fine. We just don’t want to pay 1000 € for a family of four to go to the Surin Islands, even if they do look like paradise.

Hello everyone, Not long ago, I used to travel as a couple, but my husband has since passed away, and I’ve decided to set off again. The trip I took to Cambodia in January 2025 did me a world of good. I’m now considering Thailand, a destination we never included in our plans because even 15 years ago, people said it was too touristy. Still, I’m thinking about the itinerary below, but I don’t feel up to arranging buses, trains, or guides on my own while I’m there. I’m looking for one or more drivers and have been in touch with an agency, but their offers are just copy-paste group tours that I don’t want. So, if you have any contacts, experiences, or advice, I’d be so grateful if you’d share them with me. Here’s my rough plan: Arrival in Bangkok Ayutthaya (2 nights) Kanchanaburi (2 or 3 nights) Sangkhlaburi/Sai Yok (3 nights) Sukhothai (2 nights) Lampang (I’ve planned 3 nights, but that might be a bit much—it depends on what time I arrive in the city) Chiang Mai Chiang Dao Pai Chiang Rai I was thinking about the Mae Hong Son loop—thoughts? What do you think about staying overnight at the Golden Triangle? When I look online, of course, I can find agencies that organize tours to national parks, etc. I’m retired but in great physical shape. I’d rather go hiking than sit in hot springs with crowds of tourists who’ve all arranged meet-ups. I don’t want to spend a day at an elephant camp, and I don’t want to visit Karen villages. Bonjour, je pense que mon message sera peut être identique à d'autres mais je n'arrive pas à trouver toutes mes réponses alors voilà.... Voici ce que nous aimerions faire de nos deux semaines à 2 en Thaïlande: Arrivée le 17/04 directement sur Chiang Mai, 3 nuits sur place Départ le 20/04 de Chiang Mai pour Krabi, 4 nuits sur place 24/04: je me posais la question de partir sur Koh Lanta qui n'est pas loin et facile d’accès depuis Krabi mais on me dit aussi que Koh Tao vaut le détour (nous cherchons une destination plongée). L'idée serait de perdre le moins de temps possible dans les transports mais je me dis que Krabi = Koh Lanta et que Koh tao aurait peut être un paysage/atmosphère différents...ce serait pour 4-5 nuits et 2 jours de plongée. Nous aimerions ensuite être sur Bangkok à partir du 29/04 pour 2 nuits, notre vol retour étant programmé pour le 01/05. Pourriez vous me donner vos avis tant sur le planning que sur la destination plongée? Merci merci merci!
