I’m planning a trip to Brazil in October and decided to go through an agency to organize our itinerary. I asked two agencies to put together a circuit with transfers, hotels, organized visits, and one domestic flight. I don’t speak Spanish or Portuguese. 6 nights in Rio 3 nights on Ilha Grande 3 nights in Paraty Domestic flight to Salvador for 3 nights 3 nights in Morro de São Paulo 1 night in Salvador before flying back to France. For this itinerary, I’m going with Tourlane, but I’m still waiting on the second quote from Comptoir des Voyages. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the itinerary and especially on these agencies—thanks for any feedback! 😊

Le trajet serait Lima, Ica, Aréquipa, Cuscos, Micchu Picchu, Puno, La Paz, Sucre, Potosi, le Salar, Tupiza, Salta, Cafayate, Buenos Aeres et finir à Montévidéo. Quelqu'un pourrait il me conseiller une cie de Bus ou de privilégier le taxi pour ces différents trajets - Cusco La PAZ, Sucre Potosi Uyuni, Uyuni Tupiza, Tupiza Salta. Mon mari et moi irons au Brésil pour une durée de 3 semaines en janvier-février 2020. Nous arriverons et repartirons de Rio , ville que nous visiterons pendant 3 jours. Pouvez-vous nous conseiller sur les endroits incontournables mais réalisables dans ce laps de temps, sans stress, en comptant bien entendu le temps qu'il faut pour joindre les différents endroits par les transports possibles et pas chers (nous voyageons local) ? J'ai peur de manquer quelque chose parce-qu'il aurait fallu obligatoirement réserver les billets à l'avance ( la montée au Pain de Sucre, au Corcovado, ...) . Pour la montée du Wayana Piccu au Pérou (Pain de sucre sur le site Inca), par exemple, il avait fallu réserver sur internet bien à l'avance...). Nous ne voulions pas rater cette ocasion ! A few friends and I are planning to explore the northern shore of Lake Titicaca, making stops using local buses or collectivos. The route starts in Huancane, passes through places like Moho and Conima (on the Peruvian side), then crosses the border and continues into Bolivia via spots like Escoma, Ancoraines, Achacachi, and Huarina. I can’t find any info on transportation between these towns. It also seems there are no listed hotels or other types of accommodations.

Personally, I’ve already visited several places on the southern shore of the lake.

Questions: Is this less touristy route along the northern shore—compared to the southern route via Unguyo and Copacabana—worth it? Are there buses that cover the northern shore in both Peru and Bolivia? What accommodations do you know of along this route? Alternatively, is it possible to rent a car in Puno to circle the entire lake, and which reliable agencies would you recommend? Thanks for your suggestions! 😉

Le programme est le suivant :

SANTA CRUZ > SAMAIPATA > SUCRE > POTOSI > TUPIZA > SUD LIPEZ + UYUNI + SAJAMA > LA PAZ > TITICACA

Je me pose quelques questions avant notre départ.

1)Entre SANTA CRUZ > SAMAIPATA > SUCRE > POTOSI > TUPIZA , quelle est le meilleur mode de transport ? Est-il possible de trouver des Colectivo à n'importe quelle heure de la journée pour ne pas se contraindre ? quid des bus ?

2) Idem entre LA PAZ et TITICACA , quelle est le meilleur mode de transport ?

3) Nous avons 2,5 jours à Samaipata, l'agence SAMAIPATA TOURS propose plusieurs excursions (on a identifié 1 jour à CODO DE LOS ANDES et 1 jour à LOS VOLCANES). Avez-vous eu des coups de coeur dans les alentours ?

4) Avez-vous des adresses coups de coeur à SUCRE , POTOSI , LA PAZ ? (restaurant, visite ou quartier insolite à ne pas manquer)

5) Le triatlon à Tupiza mérite-t-il le coup (avec la Torre Tours) ?

6) Le chemin de randonnée sur Isla del sol est-il toujours bloqué à la moitié de l'ile ? est-ce facile de rejoindre yampupata depuis la isla del sol ?

La question étant pour ceux qui ont déjà tenté l'aventure : Mais qu'avez vous fait de la caisse de transport de l'animal une fois sur place ? Parce que le trip sac à dos+ chien est fun, si une énorme caisse s'ajoute au périple, ça manque de charme.

I’d love to get your thoughts on the itinerary we’re planning for this summer (August) with our three older teens. We’ve booked our round-trip flight from Lyon to Rio. Originally, we were thinking of heading down to Paraty / Ilha Grande... but after checking, the water temperature seems a bit too cool, so we’d prefer to go to Bahia state for a bit more warmth. Our interests: discovering the people and cities, enjoying the beach and relaxation, a few short hikes, etc.

What do you think of this itinerary? Too much time lost in transit?

Now, I’d love to introduce my partner to the country. Hi there, we’ll have 15 days total, which means 13 days of travel on the ground. We’re planning to visit Brazil during the second half of July. I’m not naive enough to think we can see a huge chunk of Brazil in such a short time, so I’m focusing on a specific area to make it relaxed and enjoyable.

We’re flying out of Madrid. I was thinking of spending 3 or 4 days in Rio, 3 days in Iguazu (I initially thought one day would be enough, but I’ve read it’s highly recommended to visit the Argentine side as well), 3 or 4 days on Ilha Grande, and 3 days in Paraty. I’m not entirely sure about Ilha Grande in July, but I’m looking for a place to unwind and enjoy the sea (if the water’s good then).

I’ve noticed a lot of people fly into Madrid and return from São Paulo (or vice versa). What’s the advantage of that? It doesn’t seem problematic (based on Google Maps, though I’m no expert) to navigate from Rio. Is there a more efficient order for visits to minimize travel time?

As you can tell, I’m just starting to plan, but I’ll need to book the international flights soon. I’ll probably have more questions for those of you who are patient enough to help! ;)

Hi there, I’m planning a road trip in a rental car in Paraguay. During this trip, I’d also like to cross the border to visit Iguazu Falls (both the Argentine and Brazilian sides), which are just a few kilometers from the Paraguayan border. The issue is that rental car agencies don’t allow crossing borders. So my question is: is it easy, possible, and safe to leave the rental car for 2 or 3 days in Paraguay and cross the border from Ciudad del Este? What’s the best way to get around (bus, taxi)? Je n'ai pas envie de faire en bus : San Pedro de Atacama / Calama (1h30) + Calama / Uyuni (8h) + Uyuni et trip Sud Lipez -- Trop de transport !!!

En 2011-2012, je cherche une destination romantique, sensuellle , relaxante et exotique pour nos 10 ans de mariage . On avait jamais osé le Brésil , qui nous tente beaucoup , mais qui nous retenais à cause du prix, l’insécurité, les formalités ( visa ) etc.. Depuis , le vol est moins cher, il n’y a plus de visa demandé aux canadiens et les élections sont terminées . Que pensez -vous, de la Costa Verde, Ubatuba à Rio de Janeiro ..? Deux semaines ou trois semaines , c’est à voir. Je me demande qu’elle période de l’année est la meilleure ? J’aimerais avoir des recommandations . Chauffeur? Voiture de location ? Next April, I’m planning a trip (the 1st) to Brazil. I’ll have 12 days there (not counting the 13th day for the return). I’ll arrive on 22/04 in the early evening in Rio de Janeiro. The return flight is from São Paulo on 04/05 in the afternoon. I know 12 days is very little for such a big country, which is why I’ll focus on a relatively small area: the southeast (though "small" is relative!). I’ve started mapping out the main stops for my trip, which would be: - Rio de Janeiro: 4 to 5 days? - Ilha Grande and maybe Paraty: 2 to 3 days - Iguazu Falls: Brazilian and Argentinian sides: 2 days - São Paulo: 1 to 2 days

What do you think? Is this reasonable? There are about 250/260 km between Rio and Paraty. I’d like to make the trip by rental car. What do you think? A car is definitely much more practical and faster than the bus. 12/13 days is short—I can’t afford to lose too much time in transit. To get to Ilha Grande, I understand there’s a ferry that shuttles between the mainland and the island. From which city can you take the ferry? Mangaratiba? Conceição de Jacareí? Angra dos Reis? If I arrive by rental car, where can I park it? I think cars are banned on the island, right? That’s where I’m at with my planning. Hi everyone, I’m planning to spend about a week in the Amazon in April or May—the dates aren’t set yet—flying in and out of Manaus. I’d love to hear about the must-see spots in Manaus besides the theater and the Amazon Museum. After that, I’d like to take a boat trip on the Amazon or the Rio Negro to escape the city and find some peace for a 3- or 4-day trek in the forest. I also saw that the town of Presidente Figueiredo is worth visiting for all the waterfalls nearby. If you’ve been to Manaus and have any recommendations, I’d love to hear them. Ou les prestations se font-elles guide + voiture ? Vol Calama - Santiago Vol Santiago Ile de Paques J11 - J12 ? --> faut-il répartir ces jours sur les régions d'Atacama et du sud Lipez ou autre région ? J13 - J14 - J15 : Ile de Pâques J16 : Ile de Paques - Santiago - Paris : ça va nous faire un gros gros temps d'avion : 5h + 4h d'escale + 13h + 3h d'escale + 2h --> vous voyez une façon d'optimiser ou c'est le jeu sur ce type de destination ?

I’m heading to Morro de São Paulo in the first half of September.

I’ll spend a day in Bahia and then take the fast ferry to Morro from the Terminal Turístico Náutico. I’ve heard this ferry can be canceled depending on sea conditions. Locals from Bahia, can you tell me if cancellations are common in early September or if it’s usually not a big deal?

After Morro, I’ll spend a few days in Boipeba.

My question is about the return trip to Bahia to catch my flight home.

Is it better to go back through Morro to take the ferry in the opposite direction, or can I leave directly from Boipeba to Bahia?

I want to avoid long trips and bus rides.

If there’s no way around a road trip, I could take a taxi, Uber, or something similar.

Depuis une dizaine de jours maintenant le commerce à été partiellement ouvert dans ce qu'on appelle ici la "fase 1", cad. tout les commerces de vente sont autorisé à ouvrir leur établissement. IMPORTANT NOTICE for those planning to take a bus to another city, state, or destination from Salvador!

Starting January 20, 2026, the intercity bus station Rodoviária is changing its address! The Rodoviária is leaving the Iguatemi area and will now be located in ÁGUAS CLARAS (about twenty kilometers from downtown Salvador).

A brand-new station (the most modern in Brazil) has just been set up there, accessible by car/taxi/Uber/metro. Allow for much more transfer time (especially during rush hours), so leave early if you're heading to Chapada Diamantina or other Brazilian cities by bus.

Remember, there are also private transfers (even French-speaking ones) that can take you directly from your hotel in Salvador to your hotel in Chapada. Sure, it’ll be more expensive, but you’ll save on transfer time and comfort.
