je vais partir en voyage (non organisé) au Cambodge le 1° Octobre (Phnom-Penh, Siem reap, Battamgang , Kep, Kampot..), et je cherche des infos sur le climat à cette époque: surtout savoir quelle incidence les pluies et inondations pouvaient avoir sur les transports: les transports fluviaux sont-ils possibles, et sûrs?, les trajets en bus sont-ils compliqués? et la mer est-elle dangereuse à cette période dans le Sud?
Je voyage beaucoup en Asie mais jamais à cette période, et la lecture des guides, Lonely et autres, devrait être interdite 😠 🤪 !!! car elle génère plus de craintes qu'elle ne donne d'infos!!

Je ne peux pas te répondre sur la météo car je n'y suis pas allée à cette époque.
Sur les transports en bus aucun problème dans ce pays, c'est facile et assez fiable.
Transports fluviaux : cela effectivement dépend de la météo.

Je vais vous répondre en vous donnant quelques chiffres concernant les pluies sur la cote cambodgienne, au cours du mois d'octobre, pour les années 2010-2011-2012-2014 et 2015. Je n'ai pas fais de relevé en 2013.
Nombre de jours avec au moins une averse:
- 2010 : 18 jours. Aucune journée de vrai mauvais temps.
- 2011 : 9 jours. Aucune journée de vrai mauvais temps.
- 2012 : 11 jours. Aucune journée de vrai mauvais temps.
- 2014 : 17 jours. Une journée de vrai mauvais temps.
- 2015 : 9 jours. Aucune journée de vrai mauvais temps.
Octobre est un mois d'intersaison.Certaines années, il est possible de l'inclure dans la saison des pluies, d'autres années, il s'agit d'un avant-gout de la saison seche qui s'annonce.En général pas de pluies diluviennes, meme si cela peut arriver de maniere exceptionnelle. Nous sommes plutot dans un régime d'averses de courte durée, avec un ensoleillement assez bon.Ce qui entraine souvent une humidité de l'air assez élevée, donc une athmosphere un peu moite.
En principe, ces pluies n'ont pas d'influence sur le transport par route, ou alors de maniere tres ponctuelle et courte.
Sur les rivieres, le niveau des eaux est bon.Descendre la SANGKER de Battambang au Tonlé Sap, se fait en principe dans de bonnes conditions et de maniere rapide.
La mer peut etre dangeureuse en cas de gros coup de vent, mais cela peut etre le cas depuis le mois d'avril. Il faut aviser au jour le jour.
Et comme toujours en météo, la part aléatoire est importante.Je vous souhaite donc bonne chance.

Je pars le 14 sept pour revenir le 6 oct. Je vais certainement faire à peu prés le même parcours.
Je m'attends à quelques pluies mais sans aucunes craintes. J'étais au Vietnam en sept-oct 2012 et ça a été le cas puis au Laos en Juillet 2013, pareil et en Indonésie l'année dernière, une bonne douche un soir à Florés mais c'est tout. On verra bien.

si je peux apporter mon expérience. j'y ai vecu du 12 septembre au 6 novembre 2015. Nous avons commencé par 6j quasi non stop de pluie ce qui a fait que la ville de kampot était complétement inondé mais nous à 7km du centre il y avait beaucoup moins.
ensuite il a plut parfois mais un petit peu plutot averse que pluie continue.
une chose non néglieable est le fait qu'avec le changement de climat la météo change chaque année donc moi je dis va et découvre le cambodge.
si besoin de conseille, je suis dispo j'avais aussi fais un voyage avant donc au total 10semaines cambodgiennes
Octobre, c'est tout simplement le plus gros cumul de précipitations à Phnom Penh !
Tu es à la fin mais aussi au pic de la saison des pluies.
Le temps classique c'est plutôt beau le matin, et sauf coup de bol, pluies ou déluge l'après midi. L'eau monte très vite puis redescend aussi vite. C'est une saison qui a son charme notamment pour la ville et pour les temples, mais pour les îles je ne conseillerais pas trop.
Je pars aussi en Asie fin octobre, nous souhaitons aller à Angkor et après que nous conseillez vous (on souhaitait aller sur une île). Plutôt côte ouest thailandaise?

Dans le Sud de la Thaïlande c'est pareil, souvent septembre et octobre sont les mois les plus pluvieux.
Météo côte Ouest ou Est en octobre ? Va voir sur le forum Thailande, je suis sûr que cette question est posée et traitée toutes les trois semaines environ 😉
Sinon depuis Siem Reap il y a des vols pour Sihanoukville, allez y et si le temps le permet, embarquement pour Koh Rong ou Koh Rong Samloem !

un vol direct tous les jours avec Cambodia Angkor Airways à 11.05 am
3 vols par semaine avec Cambodia Bayon Airlines à 15.05
3 vols par semaine avec Sky Angkor Airlines à 12.50 ou 19.25
L’octobre est une bonne période pour voyager au centre, Bangkok par exemple, car il y a souvent beaucoup de soleils. Mais cette période n’est pas favorable pour Sihanoukville ou quelques provinces voisines à cause de la pluie.
Cette année Octobre sera périlleux pour voyager au Cambodge, et un sérieux bulletin d'alerte vient d'être émis concernant les fortes pluies, que nous avons déjá, mais qui vont aller en empirant sur le mois á venir ...... la dengue est en forte recrudescence et le bord de mer est vivement á déconseiller ..... celá fait plus de dix ans que nous n'avons pas eu ces pluies et celles á venir vont être de nature á causer de sérieux problémes de transport sur les routes .....

Vraiment peu de chance d'en trouver en ville, quand même. J'ai trouvé un python dans ma cour il y a quelques temps mais je ne suis pas en centre ville 😉
Pour la pluie, je me joins aux autres pour déconseiller de compter sur le bord de mer. La mer redevient calme et jolie à partir de décembre -janvier. En octobre, préférer Siem Reap et Battambang par exemple.

I’m also looking for a plan for an Amazon tour.
Specifically, a good, conscientious agency that does things right in terms of environmental respect.
I already did a tour in Peru 10 years ago in the Pacaya Samiria reserve, and it was amazing.
The simple reason was that the tour was on a motor-free canoe—we made no noise, so the immersion was total.
Is it possible to find a tour in Leticia that offers a motor-free boat excursion?

We want to do a few safaris, visit villages, the mountains, see tea plantations, etc. But we also want to see turtles. We love snorkeling but aren’t experts—we’re just happy to see colorful fish and coral. We’ve always wanted to see turtles too, so the idea is still to see *something* underwater 😊

I’ve planned a three-week itinerary for this summer, from August 9 to 27, in Sri Lanka:
Negombo – 1 night
Sigiriya and the Cultural Triangle – 4 nights
Kandy – 2 nights
Ella – 3 nights
Tangalle – 6 nights
Colombo Airport – 1 night
I know this isn’t the ideal time for the south since the beach conditions aren’t great, but we’ve booked a hotel with a pool and won’t be swimming in the sea. We want to relax after all the travel since we’re bringing our two kids, aged 6 and 8.
I know the east would be better, but (i) I’m struggling to find suitable accommodation, and (ii) it adds a lot of travel time, and my kids can only handle about 3 hours at a stretch.
I looked into Arugam Bay, but it’s a 7-hour trip back to Colombo from there.
I’ve checked every weather site imaginable, but they don’t all agree. Do you think we’ll spend our whole trip in the rain, or is the monsoon in the south mostly limited to the sea, as I’ve read?
I’m worried about ending up in the middle of a natural disaster with my two young kids, given recent events.

But after checking various weather sites and reading accounts, I’m a bit worried about rain, which can apparently be frequent and heavy in February. I’d love to hear from travelers or locals who’ve been there recently.

This year, 2026, I can only get away in April and May. I never travel during these months usually, and from what I know, they aren’t the best for India. But in such a big country, there are always spots that are better than others weather-wise.

I’ve looked into a few different options: Brazil, Cambodia, and Ecuador. The last one really appeals to me, but what’s making me hesitate is the risk of our trip being a bit too rainy (literally ),
We’re more drawn to the Andes, exploring colonial cities, typical villages, markets, and a bit of the coast. We’ve already gotten a taste of this in Bolivia, Colombia, and Chile. Plus, we’d love to do part of it by car since we’re used to driving at our own pace and stopping whenever we feel like it. Anyway, time’s running out, and I need to decide so I can finalize a route and book the tickets!!

Just giving you the quick context: A group of friends and I are planning a trip to South Korea (Seoul/Busan) at the end of June/July next year. It falls right in the middle of the monsoon season, but we don’t really have other availability options.😕
I’d love to hear from people who’ve visited the country and these cities during this period—basically, is it not as bad as it sounds, or should we just cancel our tickets (we don’t mind the heat, it’s mostly the rain that scares us).
I know there are plenty of indoor activities, but do you think we’ll still manage to get a few sunny days, or will it be torrential rain for our entire 2-week trip?
The only other country we’ve visited during the rainy season is Brazil (in the northeast) around the same time, and honestly, aside from a few really annoying downpours, we had sunshine most of the time and it was awesome. That said, the climate is totally different, so I’m not sure how relevant the comparison is.

Not sure if guidebooks, agencies, and other tour operators are keeping up by changing their visiting hours and offerings.
Personally, I see a promising opportunity here—jumping on this adaptation to extreme climates before others do, since they’re inevitably coming.
From my own travel experience, I’ve met a few guides so far who are starting to adjust, like in Egypt, Kenya, Senegal, and elsewhere.
They avoid crowds and the hottest hours by starting their tours around 6–7 AM, when it’s cooler.
Yeah, you’ve gotta wake up early, but the payoff is so worth it. 😴
If you’ve got any great tips like this, why not discuss them in this thread and share addresses or websites where the people in charge have realized climate change is real and are adapting? 😊
