Je vais partir au mois d'août en Floride. J'ai lu un peu partout qu'l y faisait une chaleur torride.
De plus, je ne m'expose jamais au soleil et si ça m'arrive, je prends des coups de soleil.
Avec un bon écran total et un chapeau vais-je m'en sortir vivante ? (ou plutôt "pas trop cuite"). J'angoisse un peu car je ne vais certainement pas rester sans arrêt à l'intérieur pendant tout mon séjour. Merci pour vos commentaires et conseils afin que je puisse profiter au mieux de mes vacances.

Il te faudra une crème solaire, mais j'ai cru comprendre que tu y avais déjà pensé 😉 et éventuellement un peu d'anti-moustique pour la soirée.
Ce n'est pas une chaleur exceptionnelle en août. Un peu lourd seulement. Tu pourras te promener sans soucis et profiter de tes vacances, soit tranquille !
Et pour te rafraîchir, souvent en fin d'après midi il y auras un petit orage bienvenu !

J'ai tellement lu de choses "allarmantes", genre "brûlé et cramé" par le soleil ....que j'avais un peu peur pour ce voyage.

Moi aussi :
1) je ne suis pas fan du soleil (même s'il ne me pose pas trop de problèmes) et à chaque fois ça se passe très bien
2) les moustiques me vouent un amour inconditionnel non réciproque et je dois faire avec. En Floride en août, ce n'est pas cata. Par précautions, je me couvre quand même le soir de "5 sur 5 Tropic" (sans pub : en promo en ce moment en espace para-pharmacie chez "Carrerouf"
Je suis allée 2 fois en Floride en Aout. En 2010 j'ai trouvé la chaleur supportable, mieux qu'en 2012 où il faisait très lourd (surtout dans les keys) on avait hâte de retrouver la clim de la voiture. Il y avait aussi moins de pluie qui aurait contribué à rafraichir un peu. Mais bon ça reste supportable.
Pour l'anti-moustique, le 5 sur 5 tropic a été inefficace pour moi quand j'étais dans les everglades (ça attirait les moustiques surtout), il vaut mieux acheter là bas les produits "OFF"

C'est chaud mais supportable en bord de plage ou dans les Keys.
C'est la période des orages, parfois forts, avec leurs inconvénients, y compris des coupures de courant.
POur les moustiques, c'est fonction de chacun.
Je suis rarement piqué et en Floride y a pas de dengue ou malaria, donc c'est pas grave.

Justement quand le temps est couvert et pluvieux c'est la que c'est le pire car la chaleur gagne en humidité sa rien à voir comme quand le temps est couvert chez nous en France aux état unis dans la cote est et dans les zones tropicales et subtropicales quand le temps se couvre la chaleur ne baisse pas et peut même augmenter comme c'est le cas a Washington DC ou il peut parfois faire facilement 38°C avec un temps couvert !

J'habite également dans le sud. Mais attention, la chaleur de Floride est totalement diffèrente de chez nous car c'est une chaleur très humide. Toutefois, comme les autres l'ont dit c'est supportable. Je suis allée plusieurs fois en Floride et cela ne m'a jamais posé de problème alors que j'ai un peu de mal avec la chaleur séche de chez nous.
Par contre cet été, nous allons dans les Everglades et j'ai plus peur des moustiques 🙂.
Contrairement à une idée reçue en France la température ne baisse pas forcément en cas de ciel couvert. En effet il peut faire chaud et humide dans n'importe quelle région et quelque soit la latitude.
Il peut faire plus de 30 de grès avec un ciel partiellement où totalement nuageux.
Par contre la sensation de chaleur me semble moins forte par ciel couvert que par ciel dégagé. Cela atténue fortement les rayons du soleil.
En effet les un temps sec et ensoleillé donne très chaud surtout en l'absence de vent.
Le ressenti n'est pas le même par 30 de grès sec ou humide.
Il est donc faux de dire qu'une chaleur humide donne plus chaud qu'une chaleur sèche.
Je vous propose de consulter les taux d'humidité sur google des différentes villes du SUD de la FRANCE ou du itoral Atlantique et vous verez qu'il peut y faire chaud avec un taux d'humidité très important et un ciel couvert.
Je connais NICE et j'ai pu contater qu'il n'y avait pas que du beau temps et de la chaleur sèche.
Il y a des jours ou il fait chaud et lourd avec un temps orageux.

I already did a tour in Peru 10 years ago in the Pacaya Samiria reserve, and it was amazing.
The simple reason was that the tour was on a motor-free canoe—we made no noise, so the immersion was total.

I’ve planned a three-week itinerary for this summer, from August 9 to 27, in Sri Lanka:
Negombo – 1 night
Sigiriya and the Cultural Triangle – 4 nights
Kandy – 2 nights
Ella – 3 nights
Tangalle – 6 nights
Colombo Airport – 1 night
I know this isn’t the ideal time for the south since the beach conditions aren’t great, but we’ve booked a hotel with a pool and won’t be swimming in the sea. We want to relax after all the travel since we’re bringing our two kids, aged 6 and 8.
I know the east would be better, but (i) I’m struggling to find suitable accommodation, and (ii) it adds a lot of travel time, and my kids can only handle about 3 hours at a stretch.
I looked into Arugam Bay, but it’s a 7-hour trip back to Colombo from there.
I’ve checked every weather site imaginable, but they don’t all agree. Do you think we’ll spend our whole trip in the rain, or is the monsoon in the south mostly limited to the sea, as I’ve read?
I’m worried about ending up in the middle of a natural disaster with my two young kids, given recent events.

We’re more drawn to the Andes, exploring colonial cities, typical villages, markets, and a bit of the coast. We’ve already gotten a taste of this in Bolivia, Colombia, and Chile. Plus, we’d love to do part of it by car since we’re used to driving at our own pace and stopping whenever we feel like it. Anyway, time’s running out, and I need to decide so I can finalize a route and book the tickets!!

I’d love to hear from people who’ve visited the country and these cities during this period—basically, is it not as bad as it sounds, or should we just cancel our tickets (we don’t mind the heat, it’s mostly the rain that scares us).
I know there are plenty of indoor activities, but do you think we’ll still manage to get a few sunny days, or will it be torrential rain for our entire 2-week trip?
The only other country we’ve visited during the rainy season is Brazil (in the northeast) around the same time, and honestly, aside from a few really annoying downpours, we had sunshine most of the time and it was awesome. That said, the climate is totally different, so I’m not sure how relevant the comparison is.

Personally, I see a promising opportunity here—jumping on this adaptation to extreme climates before others do, since they’re inevitably coming.
From my own travel experience, I’ve met a few guides so far who are starting to adjust, like in Egypt, Kenya, Senegal, and elsewhere.
They avoid crowds and the hottest hours by starting their tours around 6–7 AM, when it’s cooler.
Yeah, you’ve gotta wake up early, but the payoff is so worth it. 😴
