Je suis rentrée de Cuba hier à peine.
Je te déconseille fortement le Riu Turquesa et je sais de quoi je parle : j'avais réservé cet hôtel pour un séjour de 15 jours, j'ai contacté mon correspondant local pour qu'il nous change d'hôtel au bout de 4 jours seulement !!!!
Le personnel n'y est pas du tout sympatique (mis à part les serveurs du resto), les chambres ne sont absolument pas confortable (mobilier bouffé par les bestioles ... ) et en ce qui concerne la formule all inclusive
absolument aucun choix aux buffets, cocktail figurant sur la carte mais ne pouvant pas être réalisés et aucune animation !!!!
Par contre si tu te décides pour Cuba je te conseille le Blau Varadero, nous y avons été transféré et y avons passé d'excellents moments qui nous ont vite fait oublier notre mésaventure au riu turquesa qui ne vaut absolument pas un 4 étoile mais un 2.5 tout au plus ...

Après une semaine au Turquesa du 2 février au 9 février 2007, voici la lettre que nous avons envoyée à la direction;
Bonjour,
Nous arrivons du Riu Turquesa de Varadero. Je ne trouve pas qu'il mérite ses 4 étoiles, et passe de justesse son 3 étoiles.
Votre Riu Merengue de République est un vrai palace à côté du Turquesa.
Au Turquesa, pas de possibilité d'avoir deux clefs.
Presque toujours les mêmes menus (pâtes, poisson) sans compter qu'il faut toujours aller souper à la même heure et même table.
On a remplis le mini-bar la veille de notre départ (1 rhum, 2 colas, 2 bieres) et parce que je l'ai demandé.
Même spectacle à tous les 2-3 jours. 15 minutes de spectacle, 20 minutes d'attente et vice versa.
Sur la plage, 1 kayak, 2 pédalos, 2 mini-catamaran et c'était une corvée de nous servir...
Snack-bar 10h00 à 17h00 (quand il ouvrait pas à midi) et plus rien ensuite. Des oiseaux par dizaines qui se servent directement dans les plats du snack-bar sans que les employés réagissent. Au contraire, ils les nourrissent devant au lieu de les éloigner.
Ma soeur a changé trois fois de chambre pour divers problemes. Le plafond de notre couple d'amis a coulé par deux fois. Notre lavabo coulait jusque ds le milieu de la chambre de bain et la toilette ne se tirait pas. Sans compter les blattes pour lesquelles on nous a donné un vaporisateur à garder dans les chambres. Et même avec ça, on s'est tous fait piquer dans notre sommeil et avons même été traités à la clinique de l'aéroport.
Internet a fonctionné 2 1/2 jours sur 7 et le standard ne répondait jamais pour faire un appel téléphonique (ma fille a accouché dans mes vacances).
Le bar à la plage; pina colada et rhum punch seulement.
Manque de chaises à la piscine.
L'eau de la piscine était très froide. Juste les enfants qui se baignaient facilement.
Pas de papier de toilette à part dans nos chambres.
Nous avons eu du savon car nous l'avons demandé car les autres ont rien eu.
2 réservoirs de plongée qui ont passé la semaine sur le bord de la piscine sans qu'il ne se présente un moniteur.
Nous qui avions vantés la qualité des Riu à nos 2 couples accompagnateurs....
OOOOOOH ce fameux Riu Turquesa, a Varadero! J'y ai séjourné en novembre 2006 avec une amie et nos deux filles de deux ans. L'enfer!!!Au bout de seulement 2 jours nous avons été obligé de demander un changement d'hôtel. C'est déplorable de voir que la situation n'a pas changer depuis les derniers mois! IL est coté 4 *, je doute fort qu'il en vaille plus de 21/2.... J'Ai été dans un 3 * a Cuba et c'était 100 fois mieux! Juste au buffet nous avons eu droit a de la pizza avec de la pourriture dessus.....De la moisisure dans les chambres, des draps sales, service complètement nul au niveau de la réception de l'hôtel....Nous étions 15 personnes venant de différents endroits dans le monde, qui avons demander d'être changer d'hotel vu la situation. J'implore la direction des Riu de s'occuper des deux Riu a Varadero....parce que des réclamations ils doivent être écoeurés d'en avoir. Quiconque a vu les Riu en République ou Mexique tombe des nues en arrivant la-bas!!!!!!!!Il y a des gens qui ont vécu l'expérience Riu et après n'ont plus voulu retourner a Cuba, c'est tellement désolant car il y a tellement de bel Hôtel a Cuba!!! Je sais que les chaines hôtélière a Cuba et au Mexique ne se compare pas mais il y a quand même des limites !
Pour le souper à la même heure et à la même table, je crois que c'est la politique des hôtels RIU. C'est ce que j'ai toujours su et c'est pour cette raison que je n'ai jamais acheté un de leurs hôtels malgré le fait que j'aimerais essayer, un jour, cette chaîne espagnole.

Hey, I’d like to know which hotel in the south doesn’t force you to wake up at 4 AM just to reserve a shady chair, whether it’s at the beach or the pool.
I wanted to share a great discovery in the Marakele area because, in the end, this park doesn’t get talked about much compared to Kruger, even though it’s really worth the detour.
We discovered Cypiro Leopard Lodge, right next to Marakele National Park in the Waterberg. It’s a small property with just a few villas and suites, so it’s nothing like the big, crowded lodges. What we loved most was the feeling of being truly at the end of the world—lots of space, silence, and almost no one around.
And yet, it’s only about 3 hours from Johannesburg. Once you leave Joburg, the road is pretty straightforward, and you quickly find yourself in a much wilder Africa.
Marakele National Park was a huge surprise for us. There are plenty of animals, the Big Five are present, but best of all, very few people. At times, we drove for quite a while without seeing another car. It’s such a change from parks where you sometimes end up with 15 cars around one animal.
The landscapes are also stunning, with the Waterberg mountains, plains, and beautiful views from some of the trails.
We also learned on-site that Marakele is known for its very large Cape vulture colony—around 800 breeding pairs. When you climb into the mountains and see them soaring above, it’s pretty impressive.
The entire Waterberg region is actually a UNESCO-recognized biosphere reserve, and you quickly understand why once you’re there.
As for Cypiro, it’s a lodge that was recently taken over by French owners—really nice and approachable. The place is quite exclusive since there are very few accommodations. The villas and suites each have their own private pool, a wood-fired hot bath (like a KolKol), a braai, and an outdoor fireplace.
Evenings are especially lovely, especially with the peace and quiet all around.
Another thing we found really convenient: you can organize your stay however you like.
You can come self-catering and cook for yourself. There’s a supermarket in the nearby small town, practically on the way in, so you can do your shopping before arriving without making a big detour.
Or you can ask them to organize everything with breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. Their chef, Ernest, cooks really well, and it lets you completely unwind for a few days.
We liked being able to alternate: some quiet meals on our own and others prepared for us.
That’s actually one of the things we appreciated here—it’s not an ultra-formal lodge where everything is scheduled at fixed times. You can head out early to Marakele, come back for lunch, enjoy the pool, go back out in the late afternoon, then have a braai or a relaxed dinner in the evening.
In terms of price, we also found the value for money really good for this level of accommodation and especially for the very private feel of the place. Sometimes it feels like you’re in a much more expensive lodge.
If you’re looking for lots of activity and dozens of people around you, this probably isn’t the right spot.
But for peace, wildlife, nature, wide-open spaces, and that feeling of being a little alone in the world, we absolutely loved it.

And if anyone knows Marakele or the Waterberg well, I’d love to hear about other spots to discover in the area.
While digging through the archives 🔍, we discovered a 19th-century journal 📜 bearing the name: "Le Petit Baigneur, weekly journal of beaches, spa towns, and thermal resorts in the South of France", published as early as 1886. Its motto? "All for the baths and by the baths" 🏖️ — what a program!
We found the name so amusing that we chose it to rename our hotel: Hôtel Le Petit Baigneur!
140 years later, we’re carrying on this seaside tradition of the South of France in our own way 🏊♂️ — with a few fewer crinolines, but just as much love for the seaside. 😊

I found a hotel, the Kappa Club Crystal Bay Resort, and online reviews for this hotel recommend a guide named Omar. I contacted him via WhatsApp, and he's offering a 2-day, 1-night safari in Tsavo East, a "blue safari," and a Marafa Canyon day trip for 400 € per person.
I’m asking for help from people who’ve already done these excursions because I have no idea what these offers entail.

Bonjour nous arriverons dimanche 5 mai ( à partir de 16h25) à l'aéroport de Punta Cana pour profiter d'un séjour que mon amie à gagner à l’hôtel Gran Bahia Principe La Romana.
L'avion est offert par la compagnie aérienne, l'hôtel je pense par la chaine hôtelière, mais aujourd'hui je m’inquiète du transfert car aucune info et j'apprends que rien n'est prévu.
D’après ce que j'ai vu le dernier car expreso part de Punta Cana à 16h00
Y-a t'il d'autres moyens de transports collectif (guagua) qui puisse faire le trajet ou au moins nous avancer jusqu'à La Romana ou San Pedro de Marcoris et je pense qu'on finira le trajet en taxi.
Si c'est trop compliqué ça sera navette privée mais on est plus "lonely planet " que navette privée et hôtel tout inclus.
