Mon conjoint et moi avons un début de projet après plusieurs séjours à New-York.
Comme beaucoup, nous rêvons de partir vivre là-bas... Sauf que, je suis artisane, créatrice et j'ai ma propre entreprise que je gère avec mon conjoint depuis Lyon. Le but de l'immigration étant, non seulement d'être toute l'année dans notre endroit préféré au monde, mais également de développer notre marque sur place. Nous avons déjà quelques pistes.
Notre problème est donc le visa !! J'ai l'impression d'avoir écumer tous les sujets là-dessus et j'ai bien peur de ne trouver aucun visa adapté à notre cas. Nous ne chercherions pas de travail puisque nous travaillons pour nous. Nous n'avons pas 500000 ou 1 million de dollars à investir et ne pourrons embaucher personne. Ah oui et notre entreprise marche mais à part 3 articles dans des journaux locaux, je ne suis pas connue au niveau national.
L'un d'entre vous a-t-il déjà entendu parler d'une piste pour des travailleurs indépendants, artisans ou artistes pas connus comme nous ?

Basé sur ce que vous me dites, le seul visa correspondant à votre profil serait le visa immigrant (green card). Vous avez sûrement entendu parler de la loterie qui a lieu chaque année où on procède au tirage au sort de personnes qui peuvent présenter une demande de visa. Évidemment, ça reste basé sur du hasard et vous ne pouvez pas miser là-dessus tant que vous n'êtes pas tirés.
Il n'existe pas, à ma connaissance, de visa pour les travailleurs autonomes, à part les entrepreneurs qui ouvrent ou achètent une entreprise là-bas.
L'autre option serait de séjourner à titre de visiteur pour une période de 6 mois (avec un visa B1/B2), élargir votre réseau sur place et qui sait, peut-être avoir des opportunités de s'associer avec quelqu'un pour une business.

et non tu n'as pas besoin de $500,000 ou $1million.
le montant de l'investissement doit etre en rapport avec le business.

*New-York pour un américain c'est pas forcément le centre des USA bien qu'il y ait le New-York Stock Exchange ( et donc Wall Street ) et que c'est l'épicentre de la Nouvelle-Angleterre..
pour un français oui Paris est la ville Lumière, NY pour un Américain c'est une ville comme une autre..
*ensuite le plus important , l'investissement : si je prête 5000dollars à une personne pour qu'elle monte son entreprise je vais exiger 6000 dollars en retour c'est ça le capitalisme 😛 , bref c'est le retour sur investissement.
Un Américain il fonctionne comme ça il veut un retour sur investissement , un Français c'est un peu différent bien que la mentalité devienne de plus en plus ainsi en France.
La chose la plus importante c'est la taille du marché ; monter une entreprise de taille intermédiaire et réduite ça ne motivera pas les investisseurs.
Je recommende vivement de regarder quelques épisodes de l'émission Shark Tank on peut la voir sur Youtube.
(Il yen a un équivalent québecois sur Radio Canada)

Les Américains pensent en grand "Think Big" , c'est logique pour un marché de 300millions d'habitants
Donc soit deux dimensions :une activité semi-artisanale soit une activité à plus grande échelle

Et pour être claire j'ai une activité qui ne nécessite pas un énorme investissement financier. Ca n'aurait pas de sens d'injecter 500000 $.
Pour ce qui est du coût de la vie sur place, je me suis un peu renseignée oui mais je n'aurais pas 500000€ pour louer mon appart non.

Ce qu'il Matthew veut dire, c'est que le visa E2 n'est pas offert pour faire plaisir. L'objectif du visa est que ton investissement à toi rapportera aux États-Unis, par exemple en taxes et impôts payés de ton entreprise là-bas. Les Américains ne veulent pas prendre le risque de donner un visa à quelqu'un qui se retrouvera sans le sous après 2 ans.
Pour le logement, c'est vrai que l'immobilier est cher à New York, mais vous n'êtes pas obligés de devenir proprio non plus. Il est possible de louer un petit appart, de s'installer en banlieue, de partager une colocation, etc. 8 millions de gens vivent à New York, je doute qu'ils soient tous bien nantis!

Je vois. Oui bien sur si les Etats-Unis m'accueille un jour, je compte bien faire prospérer mon entreprise (qui est déjà fiable en France et que je peux facilement déplacer) et payer de plus en plus d'impôts ! 😉

Our departure time is getting closer (we have less than 2 years left—it’s both a long time and so short!). To start preparing seriously, we’ll need quite a bit of info. If anyone knows the rates charged by movers for a crate to French Polynesia, or what pitfalls to avoid (I know you can get quotes directly from movers, but I’d love insights from actual customers😉).
