Hi Alain,

A group of friends and I are heading out at the end of October for a trip very similar to yours.

Do you know if Erta Ale is active again?

Best,

Laurent

Hi Alain,

I just read your really interesting travel journal. Thanks for the link! 🙂 We’re planning a very similar route next February for 15 days as well. We’ll start in Lalibela and finish in Mekele. It turns out we’ll be staying at the same hotel as you in Lalibela and in the Tigray region. I have a quick question about your trek in the Simien Mountains. Was it the classic 3-day trek (Sankaber, Geech, Imet Gogo, Chenek) or just day hikes?

Thanks so much for this feedback! We’ll also be doing day hikes in the Simien Mountains—hopefully two of them. Which area did you explore for your hike?

Hi Alain, I just discovered your blog today through your travel journal on Ethiopia. What an amazing country! I was able to expand my knowledge of this place, which we visited in January 2011, though we didn’t get to see Gondar or Lalibela (but we did make it to Erta Ale). It was great reliving the parts of our itineraries that overlapped.

Then I took a peek at your blog on IRAN, which we visited in October 2018. Your route helped me see the eastern part of the country, where we hadn’t been. Thanks for sharing these travel experiences.

If you’re interested, these two countries (and others) are covered in more or less detailed travel journals on our site enviedevoyage.com. Just click on my name in my signature. Best regards, Philippe
