Je suis en train de rechercher des écoles d'anglais qui offrent la possibilité de passer les examen de Cambridge à Santa Barbara. Sur le net je ne trouve pas grand chose à part EF et Kaplan (qui ont à peu près les même prix exorbitant pour une durée de 6 mois).
Y a-t-il des écoles américaines qui proposent ce genre de séjour longue durée?

Salut Zarofaze. J'ai eu le même problèmes que toi et franchement malgré leurs prix je te conseil EF ( Education First ). Par contre je serais toi je n'irais pas à Santa Barbara. Si tu veux étudier et en même temps prendre du bon temps choisis Los Angeles ou Miami.
C'est vrai que six mois c'est pas donner. Mais bon je ne sais pas si en Suisse tu sais avoir les même privilèges qu'en Belgique.
Je serais toi j'irais me renseigner au niveau des bourses d'études, car chez nous en belgique nous avons droits à une bourse d'étude pour un séjour allant de 8000 à 15000€ donc tu vois tu aurais assez avec cela mais faut voir si en suisse vous avez la même chance.
Mais franchement prends EF car je suis parti pendant 3mois à Miami via EF et franchement tu t'amuses, tu te lies d'amitié avec les autres étudiant et tu apprends avec des profs hyper sérieux. Moi & 5 potes on pris EF et aucun de nous n'a été déçu donc moi je te conseil EF.
EF est un très bon organisme de langues étrangères. Oui, les prix sont élevés mais ils comprennent les heures de cours, le matériel pédagogique et l'hébergement, donc en fait c'est tout à fait normal comme tarifs. Tu trouveras difficilement moins cher pour les mêmes services.

Encore une question, avez-vous été en famille d'accueil ou en appartement? et comment était la famille d'accueil? moi j'hésite car en famille d'accueil tu dois respecter les horaires des repas etc, mais en même temps cela permet d'avoir un vrai contact avec les gens du lieu.
L'appart. donne plus d'indépendance, mais finalement personne ne parlera très bien anglais (j'imagine que les appart sont partagés par des étudiants étrangers qui sont tous la dans le but d'apprendre la langue).
Financièrement le prix comprend l'hébergement et la demi-pension en famille d'accueil, alors ça serait une économie à ce niveau là.
Récemment j'ai vu que EF a ouvert une nouvelle école à Honolulu et là je dois dire que je craque 😎, alors Nikky peux-tu m'en raconter un peu plus sur Honolulu? quelle est la langue maternelle de la population à Hawaii (anglais?) ou un dialecte polynésien?
Pour répondre à Montecito, eh non, en Suisse une fois que tu as fini les études, tu es bon qu'à travailler et payer des impôts. Le seul organisme qui paierait un séjour à l'étranger pour favoriser ta réinsertion, c'est le chômage, mais pour ça, faut être en recherche d'emploi depuis plusieurs mois et prouver que tes recherches d'emplois sont infructueuses à cause du fait que ton anglais n'est pas assez bon.

Pas forcément!
Avec EF, tu es en demi-pension, c'est à dire que le petit-déj et le dîner (le souper) est inclus dans le prix de ton hébergement...tu as donc droit à ces repas. Mais tu n'es pas forcé de les prendre chaque jour non plus!
Le petit-déj en général tu le prends avant de partir en classe, donc en même temps que ta famille d'accueil (parfois ils te laissent des boîtes de céréales et du pain sur la table et tu te sers toi-même s'ils sont absents).
Les familles ne sont pas toutes pareilles, mais la plupart acceptent de te laisser une clé pour que tu puisses rentrer à l'heure que tu veux, à condition de ne pas faire de bruit 😉 Ne pas oublier que la majorité des étudiants sont des jeunes adultes.

L'anglais est la langue officielle, mais le japonais est très courant aussi, à cause de la population asiatique et des touristes. Les dialectes ne sont pas vraiment utilisés sauf pour des termes spécifiques.
EF à Honolulu serait une très bonne idée! Cependant, garde ceci en tête: le coût de la vie y est très élevé (restos, essences), alors si tu comptes faire des aller-retour Hawaii -> territoire continental (comme Californie) il faudra mettre le prix pour les billets d'avion. En voiture, tu ne vas pas très loin dans un archipel 😕
Cependant, les trajets en avion vers les autres îles (Big Island, Maui, Kauai, Molokai) ce n'est pas chers du tout!
