Je me présente, je m'appelle Edouard et je suis actuellement encore au Lycée (en 1ère S, Term S dans 3 mois ^^) et j'ai pour projet, comme l'indique mon titre, d'étudier aux Etats-Unis pour ensuite me faire sponsoriser par une entreprise américaine et m'installer là bas. Je recherche activement des informations depuis plus d'un an sur ce projet (Organismes pour apprendre d'avantage la langue, budget calculé, marché du travail américain, université, "specialty occupation" ...) J'ai donc tout à fait la notion de ce que cela représente et coute ;-)
Grace à ce forum j'ai trouver des discussions plus qu'intéressantes: passionnantes ! Je me suis ainsi inscrit. Malgré tout, je voudrais vous poser quelques questions qui trottent dans ma tête et dont je n'ai pas vraiment de réponse.
Je voudrais tout d'abord vous présenter mon projet, sans faire de pub pour les organismes (bien sur ;-)).
Pour ma part, je pense partir avec Kaplan Internationnal College, ayant pour but de suivre le programme de 9 mois: Anglais Intensif. Par la suite, j'aimerai faire un semestre avec Education First (EF) étant donné qu'ils proposent un programme qui m'intéresse bcp: Préparation universitaire. Je compte donc intégrer une université américaine ensuite (pas prestigieuse ! Seulement "Normale" ^^) pour suivre un programme de 4 ans jusqu'au Bachelor's Degree. Par la suite, je devrai faire un (ou plusieurs) stage(s) pour préparer une entrée en MBA. Là aussi, j'ai vu qu'EF proposait des programmes de préparation. Ainsi, je compte aller jusqu'au Master's Degree. Si je n'ai toutefois pas le niveau, je retournerai en France (ou ailleurs) travailler pour quelques années dans une entreprise vu qu'il me parait impossible de trouver un employeur aux US avec seulement un Bachelor même si on a le "droit". Cela me parait donc plus possible de trouver un sponsor lorsqu'on a un Bachelor + quelques années professionnelles.
- J'ai d'abord quelques questions sur le type d'organisme que vous conseillez pour apprendre l'anglais ? J'ai entendu énormément de mal sur EF, cela dit je reste persuadé que pour tout organisme, la famille d'accueil et les professeurs donnant les cours, c'est une question de chance.
- J'aimerai faire une parenthèse sur les billets d'avion A/R. Quand on part pour plus de 9 mois, il me semble bête d'aller acheter un billet aller simple (A/S) qui coute pour la plupart des fois, le double d'un billet A/R. Sommes nous en droit d'acheter un billet A/R sans utiliser le retour ? On n'est pas "fiché" ?
- Je compte m'installer en Californie (si possible du sud). Je voudrais faire des études de comptabilité (jusqu'au Master) et ensuite me faire sponsoriser par un employeur américain ayant pour but d'obtenir un visa H1B qui déboucherait sur une carte verte. Vous devez vous douter que je vais aborder le sujet de la "Specialty Occupation". Elle permet d'obtenir le visa H1B; est-ce-que le "Labor Certification" (étape décisive) vérifie que notre job est bien une "Specialty Occ." lors d'une demande de carte verte ? De plus, j'ai vu que les comptables étaient reconnus dedans.
- Pour ce qui est du stage en entreprise. J'ai vu qu'aux EU, un étranger peut pratiquer un stage (à part en cas d'échange) à mi-temps et non à plein temps. Que me conseillez-vous à ce niveau là ? Je sais que Kaplan permettent de pratiquer stage mi-temps + cours d'anglais en entreprise (inclue comptabilité =)) Connaissez-vous d'autres moyens de faire des stages ?
- Pensez-vous que la comptabilité est un milieu ou j'ai des chances d'être sponsoriser et d'avoir un visa H1B ? Quels sont les autres domaines ? J'ai, à ce propos visité un site nommé: "H1Base", mais c'est assez vaste et général je trouve (pour ce qui est de la "Specialty Occ.")
- Une dernière question concernant le sponsor (employeur). J'ai vu que certains avait payé à leur employeur leur visa (plus de 1000$). Ainsi, leur employeur était moins retissant à l'idée de les embaucher. Cependant, cela ne me semble pas très légal, non ? Cela se pratique-t-il bcp ?

- pour le billet d'avion: pas de probleme; tu peux tres bien acheter un AR et ne pas faire le retour; tu ne seras pas 'fiche'.😉
- oui pour une Green card ton Labor Certification sera checke par l'immigration (verifie);ton employeur doit prouver a l'immigration que des americains ne peuvent pas faire/obtenir cet emploi.
pendant un certain temps il y a eu du laisser aller de ce cote la, mais depuis 2009 c'est bcp plus 'surveille' et verifie.
si tu fais tes etudes aux US, c'est un bon point pour toi, pour le H1b et pour la Green Card (si ton employeur est ok pour te sponsoriser apres le H1b bien sur!).
- pour le stage aux US: en tant que francais, tu peux tres bien faire un 'full time' stage aux US; soit a la suite de tes etudes, soit pour ameliorer ton domaine professionelle; le visa sera dans ce cas la le visa J1.
- en principe tu ne payes pas ton visa H1b, c'est a ton employeur de le faire; si certains employeurs demandent que tu le payes, c'est illegal (mais ils savent que l'employe ne dira rien car trop content d'etre aux US😕); par contre, souvent l'employeur te demande de rester un temps donne avec eux;
pour la Green Card c'est pareil, ton employeur te demande de rester pendant 2/3/5 ans pour qu'il rentre dans ses frais (par contrat); du moment que tu as la GC tu peux travailler pour n'importe qui...du coup ca refroidit certaines compagnies car elles ont tout pris en charge et l'employe s'en va travailler ailleurs!
ton projet est pas mal du tout...mais va te revenir bien cher!
apres le bac, pense aussi a jouer a la loterie de la Green Card (gratuit).

Vous dites que je peux donc faire une stage professionnel "full time" à la fin de mes études ? En tant que français, on a le droit ? Je ne savais pas, c'est intéressant. Comment faut-t-il s'y prendre exactement ? Je croyais que le visa J1 s'adressait seulement aux étudiants voulant faire des échanges.

J'avais vu un diagramme circulaire qui montrait les pourcentages de jobs qui avaient eu leur visa H1B au cours de l'année 2003. oui tu peux faire un stage en Full Time via un visa J1: il te faut trouver un employeur, un stage et ensuite passer par un organisme (ex Parenthese) pour obtenir un doc (DS2019) pour le visa J1.😉

J'étais au départ intéressé par le marketing mais j'ai ensuite changé d'avis, tant mieux ^^
J'ai entendu aussi parler du fait qu'il existait des organismes trouvant des entreprises prête à sponsoriser, vous en connaissez ?
oui il y a certains organismes qui aident les jeunes a trouver des stages (visa j1); mais cela coute assez cher, cela reste des 'petits boulots' aussi, et la remuneration est souvent tres faible.
si tu as des etudes 'interessantes' je te conseille plutot de chercher par toi meme!

En revanche, juste une petite indication concernant le billet d'avion. Regarde quand même du côté des A/S. Nous avions trouvé, pour Octobre dernier, un vol Air Berlin à 320 €, planqué parmi tous les autres vols à 1500€ et plus...
Je voulais aussi vous demander si vous avez une petite idée des prix en colocation à Los Angeles. Il parait qu'on peut louer des chambres, j'ai trouvé quelques sites ... mais je n'ai pas d'idée concrète du prix pour une chambre correcte (normale). Sur Craiglist, je trouve toute sorte de logement. Craigslist reste une bonne approche selon moi car en moyenne, les prix correspondent à ce que l'on trouve en vrai. En revanche, mieux vaut cibler ta recherche à un ou deux quartiers car selon où tu vas habiter, le même logement peut aller du simple au double...
D'accord. Je me fixe un budget location de 800$ par mois (650 E). (voire moins, si possible ...)
A ce propos, pouvez-vous me dire les quartiers qui craignent le plus à LA ? J'ai cherché pas mal de fois sur internet, et j'ai vu que l'un des plus dangereux était Compton, ainsi que le sud-est de downtown.
Je ne connais pas tous les quartiers, mais pour se faire une idée de la criminalité, j'ai trouvé ce site... un peu glauque, je te l'accorde...

If anyone knows the rates charged by movers for a crate to French Polynesia, or what pitfalls to avoid (I know you can get quotes directly from movers, but I’d love insights from actual customers😉).

Actually, I’m currently doing a postgraduate diploma in pediatric respiratory physiotherapy and want to specialize in that area. Anyway, that’s not the main point—could anyone explain the pros and cons of doing this job in Switzerland? Based on the paperwork I’ve received, the equivalence seems purely administrative or almost... What about working conditions, quality of life, salaries, etc.?
