Je suis actuellement a Gili Trawangan (Lombok) et je voudrais aller plonger a Sulawesi, on m'a dit que le meilleur site etait Pulau Bunaken. Quel est la solution la moins chere pour y aller, sachant que passer des heures en bus et en bateau ne me dérangent pas si je peux faire des économies. Si le seul choix est le vol, savez-vous lequel est le moins cher?
Connaissez-vous un homestay ou un gesthouse a moins de 100.000 rps la nuit a Sulawesi?

Nous sommes le 18 avril, la saison des pluies est toujours active.
pour l'avion le moins cher c'est lion air pour environ 800000rp de denpasar a manado, le plus cher c'est garuda.
pour loger a petit prix tu peux trouver des logements chez l'habitant dans le village ou il y a l'eglise , la mosquée et un petit port.
pour plongée j'etais au club two fish divers c'etait tres bien, prix correct, j'y logais aussi, guide tres bon, bref que du bon hormis la bouffe et le shorty comme combinaison c'etait un peu trop leger, les plongées sont top mais il y a encore mieux si t'es fondu de plongée c'est lembeh !
a savoir que le snorkelling sur bunaken est grandiose.
evite manado les logements st super cher et la ville est pas terrible.

Logement à Bunaken :
MC homestay, il est très apprécié des routards mais souvent complet pendant la haute saison, mieux vaut réservé : Tél portable de la gérante Stella 08 16 23 28 56.
C'est en pension complète si c'est toujours le cas.
Pourquoi sur ton site tu ne mets pas les adresses des GH/hôtels ? Qu'est-ce que c'est galère d'arriver à Ubud (au hasard !) sous une flotte de folie et ne pas trouver où se trouve tes bons plans. Ah si, on a trouvé le dernier, mais à 300 000r la nuit, on s'est excusé d'avoir déranger.

Lombok: tu peux enlever Suderman à Seledong. Il ne fait plus chambre d'hôtes, il s'est marié et il tient désormais une petite épicerie au bord de la route (kios kecil). Il continue juste à héberger un surfeur australien qui a élu domicile chez lui une partie de l'année...
Iles Banda:
- Sur Pulau Ai le losmen Welvaren est une bonne adresse. Certes on a pas vue sur la mer mais le patron soigne ses clients ("good service" comme il dit). Je n'ai jamais si bien mangé en Indonésie, une cuisine recherchée, fine, élaborée, parfois même j'avais des scrupules à dévorer ce que sa femme avait mis des heures à préparer avec minutie. Ne pas y aller si on a décidé de profiter d'un voyage en Indonésie pour perdre quelques kilos superflus... 100.000 par personne en pension complète, 4 repas par jour, café et thés servis à toute heure (avec des gateaux maison bien sûr).
- A Bandaneira le patron du Delfika a ouvert le Delfika 2. Cette fois il a la vue sur la mer, ou plutôt le chenal qui sépare Bandaneira du volcan juste en face. Terrasse particulièrement efficace pour la bronzette !

Tu sais il y a des gens qui aiment, après c'est à chacun de savoir ce dont il y a envie ou pas, souvent lors de nos voyages on va dans des endroits qui ne sont pas forcement à notre goût, mais on ne le découvre qu'à notre arrivé, après on à le choix d'y rester ou de se barrer le lendemain.

Je sais que le ressenti de chacun est différent, mais ton site est plutôt orienté routard. Et Lovina, si tu aimes t'es pas un routard. Enfin, routard est tellement galvaudé maintenant…
Je suis d'accord avec toi, mais si Lovina n'est pas routard je ne vois pas pourquoi Ubud, Kuta ou Amed le serai plus. Il y à dans ces endroits de plus en plus de tourismes de masse, donc peut-être qu'il ne faudrai pas parler du tout de Bali tout simplement. Lovina peut être simplement une base pour se balader dans le coin, je n'y suis pas allez depuis 11 ans donc ça à certainement du changer pas mal comme partout ailleurs.
Je pense que si on veut vraiment voyager à la routard ce n'est pas à Bali qu'il faut se rendre, l'Indonésie c'est grand et il y a des endroits ou on ne trouve vraiment que quelques voyageurs ou carrement personne, mais pour cela il faut du temps et comme la plupart d'entre nous n'ont en général pas plus de 1 mois de vacance c'est difficile de sortir vraiment des sentiers battus.
Non non, voyager routard, ce n'est pas spécialement aller voir les coins où il n'y a personne. oyager routard ce serait plutôt voyager en se débrouillant, sans passer par un TO ou des agences qui te font tout pour toi. Avec aussi peut-être l'idée d'un budget plus serré que la normale ?
Donc on peut visiter Bali en routard bien sur. Kuta/lovina même combat. En revanche Ubud est encore fidèle à un certain esprit, il suffit de quitter les rues du centre. Tout ce qui est au delà d'Hanuman semble être la vraie vie. Nous y sommes, on loge chez une famille (Hai homestay) bien ancrée dans les traditions et l'hindouisme, tu vas dans les rues un peu plus loin, à pied, là tu n'asp lus de touristes, justes les Balinais qui vivent. On déjeune et dîne avec eux, c'est la vie, loin, très loin des cafés et restau pour occidentaux. J'apprècie pourtant tout ce foin, on s'est trouvé de petits trucs à ramener, je suis allé voir la demie-finale de ligue des champions dans un bar, ce midi on s'est même fait plaisir, on a mangé une pizza dans un restau à touriste. Avec ce seul repas, on aurait pu en prendre 5 avec les Es Jeruk dans un warung, ce qu'on fait d'ailleurs tout le temps. Tiens, hier soir on en a encore trouvé un, délicieux, on n'avait jamais mangé de Mie Hauk, un régal. Alors tu vois, Ubud ça peut-être de la balle quand on aime le vrai local, pas celui de Kuta/Lovina ou Amed (qui est mal barré mais c'est pas grave, c'est de toute façon pas terrible comme coin).
Quant à sortir des sentiers battus, ben tu vois même à Ubud tu peux, ce n'est pas compliqué et ça ne prend pas beaucoup de temps : il suffit juste de le vouloir. Et puis pour finir sur Lovina, on y a quand même trouvé, au cœur du merdier pourtant, un 'tit warung à touriste mais à prix abordables, des gens gentils comme savent l'être es balinais ou javanais. Ils nous ont même invité cet été à venir dormir chez eux ! Ce que je ferai avec ma fille très certainement. Ce fut le seul point positif de Lovina.
Je n'ai pas dis que voyager à la routard est d'aller dans les coin où il n'y à personne (d'ailleurs c'est très dur d'en trouver) , j'ai juste dis qu'il faudrai peut-être tout simplement éviter Bali, pour les raisons suivantes (tourismes de masse, petit à petit perte d'authenticité, vie plus cher qu'ailleurs et ainsi de suite et avec tout ce développement j'ai l'impression que le routard n'y à presque plus sa place).
Mais c'est aussi vrai qu'on peut encore trouver des coins sympa à Bali.

Sortir des sentiers battus, c'est aller là où peu de touristes vont pour X raisons. Et à Ubud, vu que 98% des touristes restent au centre ville ou bien font quelques balades dans les rizières, c'est en fait très facile. Ce n'est pas parce qu'il y a du monde que l'on ne peut plus bouger ! Vient à la Tour Eiffel, je te ferai faire 500m, que 99% des touristes ne font pas et tu seras déjà hors des sentiers battus…
Le tourisme de masse à Bali ? Oui, mais il suffit de se décaler légèrement pour retrouver la vraie vie (comme dit plus haut) et ceci même à Kuta. Et puis même à Amed, je lisais sur ce forum ou l'autre il y a peu de temps que quelqu'un avait eu une expérience forte à Amed.

Je te dis pas l'enfer que c'est là bas: pas un hôtel, pas une boutique, rien, obligé de dormir chez l'habitant avec du poisson frit tout sec et du riz nature, c'est pas des vacances, on sait même pas bien le jour où on y va et le jour où on en revient (c'est fonction de la hauteur des vagues, surtout en janvier...), faut être plus marin que routard pour aller la-bas 😎

Benh mon gars ! fallait rester à Paris 😉 là au moins t'as des hotels (de luxe) des boutiques des macdo des pizza hut................ et tout le tralala tralali. Et puis la vie parisienne on peut pas rêver mieux n'est-ce pas?🤪
Non ce n'était pas si dur d'aller là bas par contre effectivement il fallait du temps devant soi.
Enfin si, c'est quand même vrai j'ai hyper mal bouffé pendant les 3 jours qu'on était sur cette île, pourtant quand le type nous a abordés je l'ai suivi sans hésiter car il était très gros, alors j'étais persuadé qu'on allait manger comme des rois chez lui. Mais ce n'est pas important, la récompense était ailleurs !
Celui qui en a le plus bavé c'est Rumaji car tout pêcheur qu'il est, dès qu'on prend un bateau qui tangue un peu il a mal de mer 😏 Il me fait une de ces consommations d'antimo 😏

Oui mon site est en (éternelle) construction. En fait j'ai une grosse flemme et j'ai pas trop la tête à ça en ce moment. J'ai juste Roti pour le moment, c'était l'été 2009... avant de m'attaquer aux Moluques, il faut que je finisse Alor et Pantar...
Aux Moluques chuis allé aux Iles Kei et aux Iles Banda. Toutes sont incontournables et idéalement il faut passer 2 semaines sur chaque archipel (de toutes façons aux Banda pas le choix puisqu'on a 2 pelni par mois). Après on a passé quelques jours sur Pulau Ambon, c'était moins bien car les plages étaient commerciales comme ils disent dans le Lonely, c'est à dire équipées pour que les citadins de Ambon City y passent le week-end. Grâce au scooter, on a quand pu même s'aventurer un peu sur les chemins de traverse et trouver des endroits préservés, notamment dans un bled de pêcheurs complètement à l'écart de tout. J'avais été invité par une bande d'Indos avec qui j'ai sympatisé sur le Pelni, ils rentraient des Iles Aru après avoir participé au chantier de construction d'un aéroport. On a logé (ou plutôt on s'est incrustés...) chez l'un d'entre eux, c'était bien :-)

Faut aussi que je retourne dans cette petite ile accessible par une langue de sable, avant que la chaine Ocean Blue vire les pêcheurs qui sont dessus pour faire leur connerie d'hôtel 6 étoiles... Je vais leur distribuer mes photos de Noël dernier bien qu'elles soient moyennes, à cause du temps couvert, mais ça leur fera un souvenir de leur île...
Bah, je peux donner le nom de toutes façons c'est foutu: elle s'appelle Gili Sunut. C'est pas évident d'y aller, y'a pas vraiment de route. J'avais du imprimer des vues satellite de Google Earth pour trouver les chemins d'accès.

Comme il l'explique, ils viennent de leur payer une TV financée par Ocean Blue Resorts... Il les fait passer pour des pôv malheureux - ce qui n'est pas tout à fait le cas car ils ont des élevages de langoustes - qui ont une vie dure et qui va devenir meilleure quand ils seront relogés sur le "continent".

Vu le nombre de montagnes que tu veux nous faire grimper (nous= lolodesiles + rumajidesplages) y'a intérêt à ne pas perdre de temps pour que le quota de plages et de chaleur soit respecté 😛 Mon pôv ti frère, quand je vais devoir lui dire que cette fois il prend une grosse polaire à la place de sa canne à pêche...
A la place de Gili Sunut, si on ne passe pas trop de temps sur Java 😉😇😛 (mais pourquoi diable ai-je écrit 2 semaines??) tu auras droit au retour à quelques jours sur les magnifiques plages de Kuta Lombok.... entre autres 🙂 (mouais, j'me trouve pas très convaincant...)

Mouais, y me semblait bien avoir reconnu le style des photos de islandman sur le blog du batard qui va pourrir le truc. D'ailleurs, il a déjà évoqué son investissement sur l'pile de Lombok, je crois qu'il a eu quelques hectares rien qu'en embobinant les locaux. C'est pas lui qui aarive souvent avec des cadeaux style photo de gens, je suis même persuadé qu'il envoie des trucs par la poste. Je pense qu'ils se connaissent, forcément. Et pourquoi on y va d'après toi ? C'est une opération marketing pré-études. Un truc déguisé, il fait croire qu'on y va pour le fun alors qu'en fait il bosse déjà. Mais je ne suis pas dupe comme tu le vois, je vais avertir la population locale.

The classic spots that have been fueling our dreams: Bariloche, the lakes, Chiloé, El Chaltén, Torres del Paine, Perito Moreno, El Calafate, Fitz Roy, Ushuaia and Tierra del Fuego, and wrapping up in Valparaíso.
We’ll take a round-trip flight to Santiago, then I’m thinking of a one-way flight from Santiago to Punta Arenas. From there, we’ll explore and do several day hikes in the south, including Ushuaia and, if possible, Tierra del Fuego.
Then we’ll head back north by bus to Bariloche and the lakes, followed by Chiloé, then a bus to Santiago and Valparaíso.
Based on your experience, could you help me figure out the best way to structure this trip and maybe suggest some ideas?

We’re a young couple planning to travel to South Africa after spending about three weeks in Namibia. We’ll arrive in Cape Town around mid-December, with no fixed travel duration (though our budget will eventually set a limit).
After browsing through the forum, we’ve realized the country is packed with incredible spots, which makes choosing an itinerary tough. We’re looking for stunning landscapes, hikes, and so on. So, we’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences.
When we arrive in Cape Town, we’d like to settle in and take it easy until New Year’s, exploring at a relaxed pace. We know this period coincides with South African holidays—does that make finding accommodations (availability/prices) more difficult? Do you think it’s possible to stay in a nice place for about 15 days without aiming for the most upscale neighborhoods? Maybe somewhere a bit outside Cape Town, like Fish Hoek, and just visit the city occasionally.
After that, we’ll have plenty of time (about 2 to 2.5 months) to explore the country. We’d like to take our time. In your opinion, is it better to focus on the Cape Town region, or is it reasonable to consider more distant areas like the Drakensberg or Blyde River Canyon? Can everything be done by car if we take our time, or are domestic flights sometimes more practical?
Budget-wise, how much do car rentals cost? For accommodations, we usually look at Airbnb—are they affordable in South Africa? What’s the average nightly rate outside the biggest cities? Are there other platforms you’d recommend for saving on lodging?
Finally, regarding safety, are there any regions to avoid besides Johannesburg?
We know this is a lot of questions, but we’re still in the early planning stages!

After exploring southern Peru in 2024 with your help, we’d love to head north next. There’ll be 5 or 6 of us:
1. Arrive in Lima in the evening.
2. Visit Lima and take a flight at 6:35 PM to Tarapoto.
3, 4, 5. Spend a few days there to trek in a reserve (Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve) or somewhere else.
6. From Tarapoto to Chachapoyas—either by overnight bus, daytime bus, or private car.
7. In Chachapoyas: Gocta Waterfall, Sonche Canyon, and walk back to town.
8. Head to Kuelap citadel, Revash, and arrive in Leymebamba.
9. Leymebamba museum, then route to Cajamarca.
10. Cajamarca hot springs, overnight bus to Trujillo or Chiclayo—or do both.
11, 12, 13. Visit and explore the area.
14. Overnight bus back to Lima.
15. Lima.
16. Depart at 8 PM for France.

Unfortunately, I’m only seeing relatively expensive options—nothing under 50 €, and usually around 100–150 €. Traveling solo, that could quickly blow my budget. My planned route: Senegal → Gambia → Sierra Leone/Liberia (if logistics work out) → Côte d'Ivoire → Ghana → Togo → Benin → Cameroon → Gabon → Kenya (Masai Mara) → Uganda (Bwindi gorillas) → Rwanda → Tanzania (Kili + Serengeti + Zanzibar) → Mozambique → Malawi → Zambia (Victoria Falls) → Botswana → Namibia → South Africa (Cape Town). Madagascar as a bonus if timing/budget allows from Mozambique.
I’m not a backpacking newbie—I’ve done several trips in Europe and I’m familiar with the lifestyle, hostels, local transport, etc. But Africa is my first big adventure on this continent, and I’ve got some very concrete questions I’d love feedback on from people who’ve been there.
🎭 My big dilemma: flexibility vs. pre-organized work
What matters most to me is NOT rushing through. If I feel good somewhere, I’ll stay longer. If a region doesn’t click, I’ll cut it short. That seems totally incompatible with having pre-booked work or volunteer gigs, yet I need that income to stretch my budget.
I’m torn between two approaches:
Option A: The mixed rhythm: 3-4 weeks of volunteering in a country (free accommodation, full immersion), then 1-2 countries in classic backpacker "vacation" mode, then another mission somewhere, etc. This gives a breathing rhythm and avoids burnout from non-stop volunteering.
Option B: The continuous flow: finding gigs as I go, from the previous country, contacting hosts 2-3 weeks in advance with a flexible date range. Keeping maximum spontaneity but never arriving anywhere without a safety net.
Have you tried either? What actually works on the ground in Africa?
🌍 What I’m really looking for in this trip
Not just the classic tourist spots. I want to see the country as it is—eating at local joints, taking local transport (bush taxis, minibuses, sept-places), staying with locals when possible. The big reserves and safaris are part of the plan (Masai Mara, Serengeti, Okavango), but just as much as hanging out in a residential neighborhood in Dakar, understanding how people really live.
Volunteering or work interests me for that reason too (not just for free lodging, but because it’s the deepest way to dive into a country). Working at a school in Ghana, a lodge in Kenya, a permaculture farm in Mozambique—I see it as an immersion that classic tourism can’t offer.

Now, after seeing and reading a bit everywhere, and with the first quotes for a 6/7-day safari, I’m shocked by the prices (like $2,250) for places like Maasai Mara, where entry alone costs $200 per person per day, plus fees for the driver and vehicle.
So if you have any recent great tips or contacts to share to help me out, I’d really appreciate it—because despite the costs, we’d still love to go, while keeping things reasonable.
The most plausible solution is probably renting a vehicle with a driver-guide.
