Ton itinéraire me semble pas mal... mais un peu speed malgré tout...
Tu arrives à Hanoi le matin... tu trouves un hotel (ils ouvrent generalement vers 8-9h du mat...) ensuite tu as vraiment bcp de choix au niveau des agences qui proposent des excursions en Baie d'Halong... aucun soucis pour trouver celle qui correspond à votre budget... attention quand même au prix trop bas... Tu as le choix entre 1 nuit ou 2 nuit dans la Baie... si tu ne choisis qu'une nuit... ça te fait 2 jours de suite de trajet de bus... et tu prévois d'enchainer direct avec une nuit de train pour Sapa... ca me semble un peu short !! les trajets sont lents au Vietnam !!
Par contre, il faut vraiment pas louper Sapa, c'est top... la bas, tu trouves un hotel mais pour l'excursion, pas besoin de passer par une agence... enfin, je ne te recommanderais pas ça... tu vas plutot te balader en ville, sur les places de marché et là, tu trouves un groupe de 2-3 filles des minorités locales qui te semblent sympa... nous on a choisi celles avec un bandeau un peu vert fluo autour du cou, elles étaient top... ces filles habitent dans la montagne et te proposent de venir avec elles jusqu'a leur village... tu leur donnes RDV le lendemain matin et tu les suis... ca te fais une bonne rando pour monter jusqu'a leur village... elles te presentent leur famille, te montrent leur maison et tu prepares le dej avec elles puis vous mangez en famille... ensuite pour les remercier, tu leur achetes des produits artisanaux qu'elles font elles-mêmes... c'est quand même plus sympa qu'un tour organisé avec une agence qui va te couter une fortune !! Pour nous, se fut vraiment une super expérience humaine !!
Apres HAnoi, je te conseille de partir a Ninh Binh en bus (c'est pas tres loin)... et de prevoir une nuit a Ninh Binh ; pas besoin d'agence. sur place, tu loues un scooter ou un velo et tu vas visiter tout seul les grottes, c'est tres accessibles et sympa a faire en 2 roues !!
Le soir tu prends un bus de nuit qui t'emmene à Hue...
Personnellement, j'ai préféré HoiAn que Hue... ca merite definitivement que tu y reste au moins deux jours (a HoiAn!!) la ville est tres sympa, et tu peux faire un saut a la plage... belle balade en velo !!
Ile de Cham, je ne connais pas...
Par contre Nha Tran, tu as raison, pas trop d'interet...

Hoi An et l'Ile Cham ont bonne réputation pour la plongée, bons spots. En avril, un petit peu frais encore sous l'eau, mais pas de quoi s'en priver.
Je ne vois pas trop l'intérêt d'aller à Da Nang si vous allez à Hoi An, surtout pour la plongée, vous manquez de temps, inutile de vous disperser.

Tout dépend de la date, n'oubliez pas que du 30 avril au 3 mai, c'est une période fériée et propice aux vacances des Vietnamiens.
Vous pouvez réserver via internet - voir les différentes compagnies sur le forum, il y a des messages sur le sujet.

Plutôt que de vous faire transporter par une agence au départ de Saigon, dirigez-vous plutôt directement sur Can Tho d'où vous pourrez sillonner et voir un condensé de la vie du delta. Vous n'avez que deux jours pleins, vous disperser serait un mauvais plan. J'ai donné les renseignements et idées sur ce forum, faites une recherche avec Can Tho sur ces dernières semaines. Les agences au départ de Saigon sont rarement efficientes, on vous emmène dans des grands bus faire la tournée des arrêts touristiques, sauf si vous prenez un guide et une voiture privés, mais c'est très cher pour deux personnes.

Pour le retour, vous avez un bus toutes les heures qui vous ramène de Can Tho à Saigon, si ce n'est pas un DIMANCHE, vous pouvez quitter vers 14/15 heures, vous serez "à l'aise" pour votre avion.

Sapapathfinder est basé à Sapa et non à Hanoi où seulement quelques hôtels travaillent avec eux. C'est une très bonne idée de vouloir passer par eux, vous serez pris en charge depuis Hanoi, de votre hôtel jusqu'à votre place dans le train, ensuite à l'arrivée tôt le matin à Sapa, vous aurez une chambre provisoire pour faire votre toilette et pour vous reposer avant le petit déjeuner (attention il y a plusieurs formules de prix, les prix bas ne vous donnent pas cette possibilité, ni la qualité des chambres, ni la qualité de la couchette et du wagon). Donc n'essayez pas de rechercher toujours le bas pix.

Avril est un peu tôt pour Hoi An et l'ile Cù Lao Cham. Descendez jusqu'à Nha Trang (sous réserve que ce ne soit pas pendant le week-end du 30 Avril - 1er Mai où il y a foule à Nha Trang auquel cas, il faut rester à Hoi An).

Non mais nos conseils distillé s sur le forum devraient vous éviter de passer par une agence. Rendez-vous à Can tho (bus direct), évitez une personne dont j'ai dénoncé la pratique de visite du marché flottant dans un récent message.
Revenez à HCM Ville avant midi, car attention à l'embouteillage monstre à Cho Lay (passage de plusieurs ponts qui se réduisent à une voie, alors que la route dans un sens comporte 2 voies). Certains jours, un trajet de 4 H se transforme en 8 H!

Deux ou trois petits points qu'il serait peut-être bon de revoir, à mon avis, mais ce n'est que mon avis! - enchainer la Baie d'Ha-Long sur Sapa... ça va ressembler à un parcours du combattant : je pense que vous n'apprécierez pas Sapa étant donné la fatigue et la longueur des voyages - une petite erreur sur le nom de Da Nang... vous vouliez sans doute parler de Nha Trang -
Pour ce qui concerne le trajet Ninh Binh - Hué, je pense que ce serait mieux en train -

J’ai vraiment conscience que le début du voyage sera un peu speed mais je voulais vraiment faire le marché de Bac Ha ce qui entraine une contrainte de date… j’ai donc essayé plusieurs possibilités et c’est ce qui me semblait le mieux coller! Si vous avez une solution je suis preneuse, même en ajoutant une journée de plus à Hanoi (et en zappant My Son) on est obligé à un moment ou à un autre d’enchainer Baie d’Along et trajet en train…
Pour Hoi An vs Nha Trang après reflexion je vais me concentrer sur Hoi An. Abalone pourquoi tu disais que Avril est un peu tôt pour Hoi An? Si c’est pour la température de l’eau cela ne me pose pas de problème, j’ai l’habitude de l’eau froide! 😉

Si les autres ont froid, ils ont tendance à raccourcir la séance, surtout que le staff a l'habitude de plonger avec de l'eau à 28° C en plein saison.

Ce n'est pas une île, c'est un caillou ne dépassant pas 1 km2. Il n'y a aucun habitant.
27 bungalows en bois et rustique (minimum de confort). Menu identique pour tout le monde.
La vie tourne en plein jour autour de l'unique plage, et la nuit autour d'un bar avec les mêmes têtes des rescapés🙂.

Vu le manque de temps, pourquoi ne restez-vous pas simplement à Nha Trang. Si je me souviens bien, il y a des plongeurs et des non-plongeurs. Ces derniers risquent de s'ennuyer ferme sur l'Ile de la Baleine, sauf s'ils viennent avec vous sur le bateau pour la journée.
A Nha Trang, vous avez le choix des clubs de plongée et il y a plusieurs spots, pour les autres, il est possible d'aller visiter les environs (à plusieurs, prenez un guide et une voiture pour la journée, par exemple) et, le soir, il y a tout ce qu'il faut pour la détente et le "bien manger".
Comptez également que pour vous rendre sur l'île de la Baleine, il vous faut deux heures au départ de Nha Trang où votre bus de nuit arrive, ceci si on vient vous chercher à Nha Trang, sinon il vous faudra prendre un taxi pour vous y conduire et prévenir qu'on vienne vous chercher avec le bateau.

De toute façon, pour la plongée en avril, il n'y a pas 50.000 solutions, c'est soit Hoi An, soit Ile de la Baleine, soit Nha Trang.
Plus bas, Con Dao ou Phu Quoc, mais c'est loin pour vous et il y a des risques d'avoir déjà de la pluie.

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:
- Is it possible to rent a car in Danang and drop it off in Hanoi?

I’m struggling to wrap up the end of my itinerary, even though it’s pretty straightforward (long but simple).
Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.
Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous.
I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing.
I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture.
But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary.
If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.
For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.
But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal...
