Est-ce que certains savent s'il est facile de louer une petite moto (qui ne demande pas de permis), le coût de la location à Pakse au Laos et de faire le tour du plateau des Boloven ? problème j'aurais un gros sac à dos avec moi et je ne sais pas comment faire.
Je pense que ce serait plus sympa que de tout le temps compter sur les bus et vive la liberté !!
La location de moto coute environ 10$ par jours. Ce sont toutes des 110cc à 4vitesses trés facie à conduire. Beaucoup de touristes louent des motos pour faire le tour des bolovens, tu trouvent des loueurs quasiment partout.
C'est tout à fait possible, mais l'année passé quand nous y avons été nous avons rencontré 2 jeunes qui avaient voyagé libres
comme tu dis, mais eux n'avaient pas eu de bol... ils se sont plantés et ont étés transférés à bangkok pour se faire soigner...
les routes ne sont pas comme chez nous et le code de la route ne doit pas être le même non plus...
tout ça non pas pour te pérsuader de ne pas louer une moto mais pour te dire: fais attention!!! ne sois pas pressé et enjoy...
pour le sac à dos je suis sûre que tu trouveras une guest house qui te le gardera contre quelques millier de kips...
si jamais il y a une guest house Sabaidee II ou tu trouveras un merveilleux garçon parlant français qui te reisegneras et te louera ce que tu veux... je crois si mes souvenirs sont bons qu'il s'apl Lan...
C'est une tres bonne idee ce que tu fais la.
On l'a experimente avec mon copain en fevrier dernier quand on etait en vacances au Laos.
En effet, on avait fait le circuit en moto par nous-memes depuis Pakse et sur deux jours.
C'etait vraiment simple de se debrouiller par nous-memes.
Sur place, on a ete au Lankham hotel, en plein centre ville.
Ils sont sympas, ont de bonne chambres, Internet cafe et surtout ils louent de tres bonnes motos (des vrais Honda, suzuki... pas des chinoises redeguisees). Tu peux peut-etre leur demander de garder ton gros sac, car ce n'est pas evident de se deplacer avec.
La location de 24h coute 8 usd. On l'avait louee de 15h a 15h le lendemain !
On avait eu une honda wave nickel, avec petit panier devant et pret des casques. Par contre, il faudra remettre de l'essence car la moto est pretee vide.
Ils te gardent ton passeport comme garantie et pas besoin de permis de conduire quelconque.
Aores, on est partis vers les ruines d'un temple khmers (balade tres sympa dans le sud, traversee de la riviere sur un gros bac (attention aux horaires du bac)) et le lendemain, on a visite deux chutes d'eau.
Chaque balade nous a bien occupee une bonne demi-journee car cela prend pres d'1h-1h30 pour arriver a destination.
Les routes sont assez bien entretenues, les gens conduisent bien, il y a peu de voitures...
Si tu tombes en rade d'essence, il y a des stations services ou petites echopes disseminees sur le chemin.
On s'est servi des cartes du Lonely Planet, ca suffit largement pour se deplacer.
En tout cas, c'etait vraiment deux jours de balades geniales, surtout quand tu traverses les champs de cafe en direction des cascades !
Ce sont les pompistes qui te serviront en essence. Pas besoin de te salir.
Sur la route, ce seront des petits vieux commerçants qui ont des tonneaux, avec un tuyau transparent qui te rempliront le réservoir. A l'ancienne, comme ça il peut reconnaître les types d'essence (qui ont des couleurs différentes allant du marron au vert kaki). Je n'ai pas pris de photo et suis assez dégoûtée, car c'était assez atypique comme endroit.
Je ne connais pas les autres villes que tu as citées.
Nous n'avons passé que 10 jours au Laos où nous avons fait Vientiane, la région des 4000 îles (top!), Paksé et Luang Prabang. Le tout en avion, via Lao Airlines (très bonne compagnie, avec un sens du service très chaleureux)
Mais de Paksé, il est assez facile de rejoindre les villes environnantes. Il n'y a qu'une gare routière, où tu peux prendre des bus "locaux", où tu voyages un peu serrés les uns sur les autres. Mais ce n'est pas très cher. Sinon, selon les horaires, tu peux avoir des mini-bus ou mini van.
Je pense que le mieux, c'est que tu achètes chez les agences de voyage, qui font ça très bien et pour une somme modique.
Je part le 10 mai pour bangkok, et j'arriverai le 12 mai à Paksé. Je connais un peu la région pour y être allé à plusieurs reprises. Si tu veux des infos n'hésite pas.
Salut, quand j'avais fait ma ballade de deux jours (voir mon carnet -> http://voyageforum.com/v.f?post=1507308 ) je m'avais pas mal basé sur http://www.travelfish.org/feature/83 et mon lonelyplanet . La route était asphalté à 80% des endroits et en bien meilleur condition qu'ici au Québec (sacrée Hiver!). Quand ce n'était pas goudronné sa en rajoutais à l'aventure, mais jamais rien de dangereux.
Entre Pakse et Salavan il y a des GH à Tat Lo, pas de problèmes.
Côté signalisation y'a pas de problèmes.
Pour l'essence tu va effectivement croiser bcp de 'barils' mais aussi quelques stations services 'moderne' (nottament à Sekong).
Pour quitter Pakse aucun problème nonplus.. Une fois sur la bonne rue, c'est la ligne droite.
Bonne Chance et prépare toi à saluer bcp d'enfants dans les villages et de gens dans leur boîte de pickup.

si tu montes sur les boloven...tu trouveras des 250 sympa a pakse...location sympa...par contre comme d'hab verifier le matos.
si t'es motard tu feras vite le tour, si c'est pas le cas regarde plus d'une fois la moto, rouler ca sapprend la bas comme ici (france)...
aucun prob pour circuler...par contre comme partout un casque, un bon pantalon et des gants !!!
un kit anti crevaison...ca peut servir et deux trois clefs si tu veux pas dependre du reparateur local en cas de prob...
au boloven une tenue de pluie...
la moto c'est poa un jeu !!!
un motard qu'a rouler un peu beaucoup dans ces coins et ailleurs😉
si tu y vas en moto c'est tres facile...passage des motos en pirogue assez rigolo...tu verras!!😉
si tu y vas en transports locaux tu peux le faire aussi dans la journee mais ca va etre un peu la course...l'ideal alors est d'y passer une nuit, le village est assez sympa et reposant et les guesthouses sympa et pas cher...quant au site c'est petit mais telement charmant !!!

La route n°18 qui relie attapeu à Paksé est impraticable. J'ai rencontré quelques francais qui l'ont faites en moto et en vélo mais ca a été une vraie galère. Le problème c'est qu'il y a des rivieres à traverser mais pas de ponts. Et les camions qui tirent du bois ont complètement défoncé la piste.

La route 18 n'est pas du tout galére et je me suis régalé (avec une 250 trail pourrie compteur bloque a 65.000 kms !!).
En chemin possibilite de dormir a Kingfisher (italien trés écolo ) et balade a dos d'éléphant.
Effectivement il y a qques passages a gué mais a part un ou c'était limite pas de problème avec les autres.
Trés bonne expérience !!
Pour ceux qui passent a Paksé : au PAKSE Hotel Gérome (francais Trés Trés sympa) vous renseignera (sa femme est Laotienne et du coin ).
En plus son hotel est à recommander.

I’m planning a motorcycle road trip to Armenia and Georgia in September 2026 or May 2027. I’m looking for one or more riders (male or female) who’d like to explore these countries with me.
Along the way, we’ll visit Cappadocia, the capitals Yerevan, Tbilisi, Sofia, Skopje, and other cities—we can finalize the route and roadbook later.
This trip requires experience with long motorcycle journeys, as we’ll cover around 7,000 km over 5 or 6 weeks (or more, depending on sightseeing and time spent).
I don’t expect dozens of applicants, since motorcycle riders are few and far between on this forum, but I’m putting this out there anyway.
I’m starting to think about a trip that’s really close to my heart: Algeria by motorcycle, specifically the southern part of the country. It’d be for January 2025, and I’ve got two main questions:
Is it possible for an individual on a motorcycle to travel freely, outside of any organized tour, or does the regulation require some kind of supervision in the Algerian Sahara region?
Is the Hoggar massif accessible by road or by (rideable) tracks?
Beyond the official recommendations, I’m really looking for your firsthand experiences.

Why not explore the Peloponnese!
I’m not particularly drawn to museums, ruins, or monuments.
I want to experience local life—small villages, seaside spots, beaches, and the interior if the landscapes are extraordinary.
Ideally, coming from Athens, I’d take a bus or train to get as close as possible to a starting point, then rent a scooter (125cc) to explore by taking secondary roads or even coastal paths. I’d stay in 2-3 places for a few days each to discover their surroundings.

What do you think would be the ideal itinerary?
From Athens, the best option would be to take either a flight or a bus to Kalamata. Rent a scooter and head either west or east. Is there a tertiary road (very lightly trafficked) or a path where I can ride slowly, take it easy, and enjoy the scenery without being bothered by traffic? I’d like to go all the way to Monemvasia, still hugging the coast. I need to find a way to avoid returning to Kalamata to drop off the scooter and catch a flight—maybe a small town where the train stops so I can head back to Athens.

How do you get visas for the countries I’ll be crossing: Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Chile? Are they e-Visas, obtained at the border, or through embassies?

I’ve got 15 days off in June and I’m pretty undecided about where to go for a motorcycle road trip. Two strong desires are pulling me in different directions: Corsica or Norway.
Corsica has been a dream of mine for a long time: legendary roads, stunning landscapes, a unique vibe, and the perfect mix of sea and mountains. At the same time, I’m wondering if 2 weeks might be *too much* for Corsica—risking feeling like I’ve seen it all too quickly, especially on a bike.
Since I also have an extra week free in May, I could use that specifically for Corsica. Maybe splitting it into two trips would make more sense? If so, which routes or regions would be the most interesting to plan for a 7-day trip?
On the other hand, Norway is *super* appealing. The landscapes look incredible, totally different from anything I’ve experienced, and it’d be a real “wow” trip. I know 15 days is still short for such a vast country. Getting all the way to the North Cape seems pretty much impossible in that time, but I’m curious about what realistic routes could be planned.
So I’m wondering:
Is it better to save Norway for next year, take 3 weeks off, and do it *properly*?
Or are 15 days enough for a first amazing taste of the country?
I’d love to hear about your experiences—whether it’s Corsica (ideal duration, routes) or Norway (what’s realistic in 2 weeks on a bike).

Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.

Unfortunately, I’m worried that parts of the N630 may have disappeared or merged with the A66 motorway, forcing us to ride long stretches of highway, which we’d rather avoid.

This is our first motorcycle trip in Morocco. I got my license two years ago with the dream of taking this kind of trip, and here we are! ✌️😍
In France, we usually ride between 300 to 400 km per day on roadsters. We’re not used to off-road tracks, so we’re looking for easy ones 😅—especially for me 😅.
For Morocco, I’ve planned stages of 200 to 300 km per day.
Here’s the idea:
Day 1 (departure at noon): Marrakech - Tizi n Test - Tafingoult (165 km - 4h15)
Day 2: Tafingoult - Amzarkou - Telouet (200 km - 4h34)
Day 3: Telouet - Ait Benhaddou - Ouarzazate - Boumalne (200 km - 3h30) (+ Vallée des Roses maybe)
Day 4: Boumalne - Dades Gorges - Agoudal - Todra Gorges - Tinghir - Goulmima (291 km - 6h)
Day 5: Goulmima - Midelt - Cirque Jaffar - Agoudim (280 km - 4h45)
Day 6: Agoudim - Imilchil - Aghbala - El Ksiba (280 km - 4h45)
Day 7: El Ksiba - La Cathédrale - Zaouiat Ahansal (212 km - 4h20)
Day 8: Ahansal - Ouzoud Waterfalls via R 302 (188 km - 4h22)
Day 9: Ouzoud - Marrakech (160 km - 2h43)
