Military service in Algeria

salam alykom my Algerian brothers I’d really like to get more explanations about my situation. I’m a student and my problem is military service—I didn’t register from the start and I didn’t do the medical visit, which means I’m not entitled to a deferment or anything. But I know I’m not being actively searched because I have a friend who confirmed it from the gendarmerie office. Plus, I only have a call-up order, alhamdulillah. I have the chance to travel to live in another country, and what I want to know is: when I arrive at the airport here in Algiers, will customs stop me and not let me through because of all this? barak allaho fikom

Even if your French isn't perfect, I'll try to understand you.

1- You received a first call-up order, right?

DU Duduabdo ·
yes in 2011
BO Boudouking Regular ·
so you’re registered and automatically deemed fit for service.

As long as you’re not flagged, you can travel without any issues.

BUT after the 3rd call-up order, the military prosecutor will issue a search warrant.

Let me explain a possible scenario: you return to Algeria, you go through border police, and no arrest warrant has been issued against you: no problem.

During your stay, a warrant is issued: you’ll be arrested at the border post and handed over to the military authorities for evading service.

Now it’s up to you to find out how many call-up orders have officially been issued by the HR office of your military region. If the number is 3, this warrant can be issued at any time.

Thanks for the explanation, that helps. I checked with a friend who works in the gendarmerie, and they told me you’re not being looked for. Jazak Allah.

Plus, I know people who finished their studies in 2013 and didn’t do their military service, and this year they went through the PAF—totally normal.

Hi Boudouking,

I signed up for the forum specifically to get in touch with you. You seem to know a lot about national service, and I need some info on this. It’s urgent.

Could you help me out?

If so, let me know. Thanks in advance

1- During my visit, they classified me as "fit for reserve" (just to clarify, I went with a medical file, but they refused to declare me unfit). What does that mean? 2- I haven’t received a call-up order at home, but according to my checks, the first call-up order was sent. Is that normal? 3- I was born in 1994—is it a good sign that the other call-up orders haven’t arrived yet? Or could my call-up orders be resent at any time? 4- Do you know a way to get my military ID card back?

Thanks a lot.

the class of 1997 and earlier classes are declared

"fit but not liable for service"

you will no longer receive call-up orders and can request your exemption card

You have no idea how happy what you're telling me makes me.

How do I do this? How do I apply for my exemption? I don’t even have any paperwork to provide?

Sorry to ask, but are you sure about the info you’re giving me?
BO Boudouking Regular ·
yes, contact your assigned national service center
vive les martyrs de 54
AL AlterBridge ·
Please, could you give me more details?

How do I contact them? What steps should I follow? How can I be sure I’ll actually get my card back? That I won’t just reactivate my file or get caught (I’ve heard that sometimes call-up orders don’t even reach home...) Is there a document, an article, or anything you could point me to that confirms this exemption?

I’m not doubting what you’re saying. It’s just that I need to be reassured.

Thanks for understanding

I apologize for my date mistake—only the 1993 class and earlier are declared "fit but not draftable"

Okay, you're welcome!

So, does this happen automatically every year (2018 for the '94 group)?

If not, we’re back to the earlier questions. If you have any answers or any leads at all, I’d love to hear them.

Hey Boudouking, I just signed up after reading your posts. I’m turning 20 tomorrow, I have dual nationality, born in France to Algerian parents, I’ve done my JAPD, and I have the consular card. So, I’m heading to the *bled* on July 25th, and I’ve heard about a "yellow card" or "military card" that you need to get before going to the *bled*. Can you tell me more about it, please? Thanks in advance! Kiki

so far no announcement from the MDN nor any circular

Did you complete your Algerian military registration?
vive les martyrs de 54
AR Arezkiiki ·
No, just the French registration.
AL AlterBridge ·
for now, no announcement from the Ministry of Defense and no circular

So what can I do to get my card back?

And am I at risk of receiving more call-up orders?
BO Boudouking Regular ·
for now, no, you can't get your card back—you'll have to wait for the new directives, which shouldn't be long. Don't worry! (usually in July–August)

BO Boudouking Regular ·
Get in touch with the prefecture Ask them for Article 2 Then get in touch with the SGA Ask them for Article 3

Complete your Algerian registration before September, then provide this Article 3 to the consulate you depend on. In early January, they’ll give you your exemption card

From the moment you haven’t received any Algerian call-up order, you’re in a legal situation

Okay, thanks a lot!

I’ll wait for that.

In the meantime, could you explain how their call-up order system works? I haven’t received any since I looked into it (maarifa), and I was told there was only one that was sent automatically after the medical visit.

Is it normal that I haven’t received anything up to now, and can they send me a call-up order at any time?
AR Arezkiiki ·
Thanks Boudouking, how long does it usually take to get articles 2 and 3 issued?
BO Boudouking Regular ·

Article 3: you need to apply to the SGA 1 week to 15 days

Hey Boudouking, I started the process for Article 3 by email. Today I contacted the prefecture for Article 2, and they asked me if I’d done the JAPD. I told them yes, and then they said Article 2 isn’t necessary for the Algerian card. What do you think?
BO Boudouking Regular ·
yes, they're right ask for Article 3 for the Algerian card

Hi,

I heard about an announcement recently made on Algerian radio regarding the latest exemption directives.

I can’t find it online to see if it applies to me.

Could you help me out? Thanks

Hello, I’m traveling to France with a settlement visa, but there’s a small issue—I haven’t done my medical visit, and I’ve never received a call-up order. I checked, and I’m not being searched for. My questions are: - Will they ask me for my military card at the airport, and am I at risk of any trouble? Once in France, will I be able to get my military card? If so, what’s the procedure? Thanks in advance, and have a good evening.

no problem at the airport

in France, register and report to the "national service" office

Hi Nabil,

I wanted to ask if you managed to travel to France without any issues because my husband is in the same situation as you. Thanks, Mouna
