Thanks for sharing this at such a lively pace . What gorgeous photos! They make me want to leave (or go back) right away—even if I know that many animal encounters like these aren’t always on the agenda! Anyway, another little bonus with Arusha if I understood correctly | | | À: Fabhyène · 7 April 2025 à 22:07 Re: The Kingdom of Lions... Message 62 de 74 · Page 4 de 4 · 411 affichages · Partager Arusha ParkWell, after those intense and emotion-filled days in Tarangire, Ngorongoro, and the Serengeti, we really enjoyed this last calm and slow day in Arusha Park. All in serenity. Arusha Park is a small green gem, dominated by the imposing silhouette of Mount Meru, a volcano rising to 4,566 meters, and it offers some truly beautiful landscapes.
It also promises stunning views of the distant Kilimanjaro (50 to 60 km away), when it doesn’t decide to shroud itself in mystery and clouds—which was the case on the day of our visit. We were glad we took photos in the morning when we arrived, because an hour later, it was no longer visible!
The park is home to two species of monkeys we didn’t see anywhere else: colobus monkeys and blue monkeys. The colobus monkeys are very graceful, with their long white fur flowing behind them as they leap from branch to branch. But what charmed me the most were their black faces framed by a collar of white fur, giving them an almost melancholic expression.
The blue monkeys, on the other hand, have such friendly little faces, with tiny orange eyes that look like marbles…
We walked through the tropical forest, surrounded by lush vegetation.

(continuation and end, Arusha Park) Around every bend in the paths, the landscape keeps changing.
For wildlife, aside from monkeys, we spot a few antelopes, but mostly little Masai giraffes, warthogs, pink flamingos, and ibises.
And it’s with this landscape that this travel journal comes to an end!Summary of this trip: we loved every moment—you’ll have gathered that from reading my posts. I’ll add that we’re positive by nature, life-loving, and grateful for what nature offers us. As I mentioned from the start, we focused on landscapes and animals… and we weren’t disappointed, far from it. We’re well aware that we could’ve discovered many other things beyond nature and wildlife, and that’s given us the desire to return to Tanzania for a longer stay, one that would let us meet… people, in their diversity and environment, and get to know the country better. We’ll see what the future holds… Akuna matata. | | | À: Fabhyène · 8 April 2025 à 8:17 Re: The Kingdom of Lions... We’ve done two trips to Kenya, and I’m reliving the animals and landscapes that we loved so much too. Your journal has me really wanting to discover Tanzania as well! 😍

I’m jumping in after the final curtain call, but that let me devour your travel journal in one go I lingered over the photo of the lion cub with its big round eyes, and I laughed out loud at the mention of Laurent Delahousse . Thanks for these great moments and those awesome photos.
I don’t know Tanzania at all, and I’m torn between this country and its neighbor, Kenya, for a future trip. After following Isabelle’s (Rouquine) journal and reading other Kenyan travel journals, I’d decided on Kenya… but now I’m not so sure… You’ve totally confused me
Beyond the wildlife encounters, I’m craving beautiful landscapes. And I have a feeling that between Kenya and Tanzania, it’s pretty much the same. Both countries seem to offer stunning panoramas, gorgeous lakes, and mountain peaks… I’m not out of the woods yet! | | | À: LillieoneFE · 9 April 2025 à 13:12 Re: The Kingdom of Lions... Well, since I really want to go to Kenya, especially the Masai Mara, I can’t decide one way or the other! What’s most important is choosing the type of stay that lets you have great wildlife viewing, and in that case, both Kenya and Tanzania are full of promise! Happy choosing! | | | À: Fabhyène · 9 April 2025 à 18:15 Re: The Kingdom of Lions... Message 73 de 74 · Page 4 de 4 · 317 affichages · Partager Hi Fabhyène,
Amazing travel journal that beautifully showcases the incredible wildlife of the Serengeti , of which the Masai Mara is just the (small but stunning) Kenyan extension.
Asante sana!

Message 74 de 74 · Page 4 de 4 · 254 affichages · Partager Hi Fabhyène,
Thanks for your travel journal about the trails in northern Tanzania. It brought back memories of two consecutive trips/safaris I took in the reserves of that region (2008 and 2009). I loved Tarangire (my favorite reserve in the north, despite the tsetse fly bites...). If you don’t mind, I’d like to make a comment about the two beautiful kudu images (in Tarangire). Yes, it’s a kudu, but not the "greater" kudu we’re more used to seeing—it’s a "lesser kudu" (Lesser Kudu), as shown by the number of white stripes and the two white patches at the top and bottom of its neck. It’s also smaller than the "greater" kudu and... much more skittish. This animal has kind of become an obsession for me because I’ve never managed to get a photo of one, despite a few encounters during many trips/safaris in Tanzania (mostly in the south). My next trip to Kenya is actually partly focused on capturing images of this beautiful animal.
Sincere thanks for your journal. I hope you’ll plan a future trip to the reserves in southern Tanzania—they’re wilder and a bit less crowded.
Best regards.
