Visiting Georgia Using Public Transport

Hi! If anyone has been to Georgia recently and could tell me if it's feasible to travel around the country using public transport. My itinerary would be Kutaisi (my arrival airport), Tbilisi, Mestia, Ushguli, Batumi, and back to Kutaisi (departure airport) in ten days. My flight arrives late at night, around 1 AM—would it be possible to take a taxi to get to the city center?

Any advice is welcome, and regarding the language, can you get by with English? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I went to Georgia in 2019 and had no issues getting around by bus or shared taxi—don’t hesitate to negotiate sometimes. English was enough for that. I stayed in the Tbilisi / Kazbegi / Svaneti areas without making it to Batumi, but I imagine it’s the same everywhere.

Hi there,

Your message looks like an ad, but more importantly...

Taxis are expensive.

You can’t really say that—taxis are still very affordable. Cheaper than before, actually, with Bolt, for example. 25 GEL the other day for Saburtalo-Airport in a super-modern Tesla. (not even 8 euros) 160 GEL for nearly three hours of taxi travel between a small town and Tbilisi—price for the whole taxi. (Around 50 euros)

That’s not expensive.

This message was in reply to a promotional post that was rightly deleted. I asked for it to be left up afterward, for the few bits of info. It’s not a reply to Smagghe, then.
