J'ai la chance d'effectuer une année universitaire à San José au Costa Rica. J'aurais besoin de votre aide pour préparer au mieux mon séjour.
D'abord, j'aimerais savoir si la collocation est en vigueur au Costa Rica. Je voudrais aussi connaitre le prix moyen d'un appartement pour deux personnes à San José à proximité de l'Université (quartier de San Pedro).
Pour passer les premiers jours, pouriez vous me recommander une auberge de jeunesse dont le prix est abordable à proximité là encore de l'Université.
Enfin, je voudrais connaitre le prix d'un abonnement à internet (je sais que les cyber cafés sont nombreux au Costa Rica mais j'aimerais avoir une ligne personnelle puisque j'y reste un an).

Les prix des locations sont très variables selon les quartiers mais les tarifs n'ont rien à voir avec la France. Par exemple, pour une chambre à San Jose, au centre, on peut trouver à partir de 70$/mois. Près de l'université, c'est peut-être plus cher (je ne connais pas), mais je te conseille d'aller voir les petites annonces de La Nacion (http://www.nacion.com/) ou de SuperEconomicos.com (http://www.supereconomicos.com/).
Pour l'hébergement des premiers jours, il y a le choix et vous trouverez des infos sur le forum. Je pense que ça vaut la peine d'acheter le guide Lonely Planet du CR, il est complet et si vous restez un an, il vous servira beaucoup !
L'abonnement téléphonique + internet ADSL 512 K, il y a deux ans, ça nous coûtait 50 $/mois. Il y a une chose importante à savoir : l'abonnement téléphonique est pris par le propriétaire, il faut donc bien se mettre d'accord avec lui pour le faire installer s'il n'y a pas de téléphone ou lui payer l'abonnement s'il y a. Et il peut y avoir des réticences puisque le risque de voir le locataire ne pas payer existe...

Pres de l'Universite, tu as plein de location pour etudiants, mais compte plutot autour de 250/300 $ par mois minimum pour un studio/2 pieces meuble.
Pour Internet, maintenant c'est de plus en plus par le cable. Beaucoup de locations te propose TV cable + internet compris dans le prix. Sinon, ca me coutait 35$ par mois, encore en mai dernier, avant mon depart.
Oui, il y a les petites annonces de la Nacion, mais une fois sur place, le bouche a oreille fonctionne tres bien😎
Et la colloc existe bien. Sur place tu devrais trouver d'autres etudiants etrangers qui seront interesses. Au fait, je pense que l'UCR a un service pour les etudiants etrangers qui devrait pouvoir te renseigner.
Je connais egalement une dame qui loue une chambre avec salle de bains a des etudiants a Sabanilla, pas tres loin de l'UCR, pour 350$ mensuels environ, avec dejeuner et diner, je crois.

Pour les chambres à SJ à partir de 70$/mois, pour n'induire personne en erreur (à commencer par bipbapbop), il aurait mieux valu que je précise qu'à ces tarifs, ce n'est pas du luxe. Donc, merci de votre pertinente intervention (quoique j'en regrette le ton). Ceci dit, je confirme l'information, ça existe bien (et on peut trouver à San Jose des chambres très convenables pour 150$/mois).
Pour les prix locatifs sur le secteur de l'université, un rapide coup d'oeil sur les petites annonces m'a fait entrevoir qu'effectivement c'est plus cher. Par exemple, une annonce à 120000 c/mois pour un F1 de 45 m2 à Sabanilla, à 10 mn de l'UCR. Ca fait du 225$ soit 150€/mois (le dollar étant faible en ce moment). Donc des prix conformes à vos informations.
Mon ton est du au fait que 70$ par mois pour une chambre a San Jose, c'est proche de l'insalubrité et que je pense que lorsqu'on donne des infos, elles doivent etre correctes, par respect des autres. Un etudiant qui part 1 an vivre et etudier au Costa Rica, ne va pas aller vivre dans un taudis, il me semble... Il faut etre realiste.
Je suis sur ce forum depuis un bail et j'avoue que je n'apprécie guere lorsqu'on présente le Costa Rica comme un paradis, ou la vie est facile, ou il n'y a aucun problemes pour avoir ses papiers, rien n'est cher, etc... alors que c'est le contraire. Du coup, les voyageurs reçoivent des avis contradictoires et ne savent plus qui croire.

je pense ( pour vivre au CR depuis fevrier 2007 et avoir lu plusieurs posts d'eliCR ) que le bémol, vient surtout du fait de la corruption qui règne dans le pays, de la lenteur de tout ( mais surtout de l'administration ), et du développement economico-social du pays ( qui va a reculon ).Je ne connais pas hong kong ( ni l'asie d'ailleurs ) mais pour ce que j'en sais, côté développement éco c'est très bon ( je pense au niveau de vie ).Venir au Costa Rica va vous faire voyager dans le temps ( passé ).Pour ce qui de choisir une ambiance plus saine.....Le Costa Rica est un pays chaud et je ne fais pas allusion au climat ( bien que au climat social oui ).Je vous recommande de lire la presse locale ( sur internet ) et de vous faire une idée par vous mème.

Je pense que tout se résume a ceci: le Costa Rica fut, mais n'est plus ... C'est un paradis perdu, en quelque sorte... Pour le reste, faire selon son feeling, tout en étant prudent.
Lire la presse locale http://nacion.com/, le journal le plus lu, mais tres "auto-censure", pour avoir une idee de la vision officielle du pays et http://www.semanario.ucr.ac.cr/ pour avoir une vision plus réaliste de l'ambiance sociale.
Je rajouterai qu'il est bon venir avec un petit pécule et s'armer de beaucoup de patience, en ce qui concerne la légalisation de sa résidence. Et que pour se faire, il est préférable de tout preparer auparavant en France. Prenez contact avec l'Ambassade du Costa Rica bien avant votre date de depart.
Concernant le journal " la nacion" je dirai que certaines rubriques n'y vont pas avec le dos de la cuillère.Très très souvent on peut lire des remises en question de la politique et du devenir du pays.Récemment il y a eu plusieurs comparaisons en terme de développement avec le Panama.Et comme on dit chez nous : ya pas photos 😏
A lire donc pour s'impregner et si l'on peut venir en tant que touriste mais avec un regard critique, et la on se décide..

If anyone knows the rates charged by movers for a crate to French Polynesia, or what pitfalls to avoid (I know you can get quotes directly from movers, but I’d love insights from actual customers😉).
