Je souhaite prendre un vol pour Abou Simbel depuis Le Caire dimanche 17 fevrier ...celui de 4h du mat!
D'après vous, vaut il mieux le réserver par telephone auprès d'Egyptair Paris (111 euros l'aller, hum hum...) ou tenter sa chance auprès du comptoir de l'aeroport du Caire (j'arrive le Samedi 16 à 19h)...
Si il existe des experts...je suis preneur!

est le site marchand pour la compagnei en international et domestique ...
par contre, attention que si tu veux achetter du vol domestique = CAI-ABS, tu devra entrer d'office le pays Egypte pour y acceder et non un autre (car tu n'as en fait acces qu'aux vols au départ des aéroports de ce pays !)
De plus, tu ne pourra achetter le vol de 4h00 du matin, qu'à condition de prendre le vol retour vers le caire / assouan, ou louxor ; QUE dans la meme journée, ...
si tu désire passer la nuit à Abou simbel, Egpytair t'obligera a prendre le dernier vol de la dernière rotation de la journée (en general le vol de 11h00 ou 14h depuis Assouan où tu devra de fait faire une escale forcée ), et le premier vol retour du lendemain (question rentabilité des aviosn en aller / retour !)

Peut être qu'il faut que je prenne aussi un "vol retour" (vers Assouan) pour que cela fonctionne (ce qui ne me dérange pas même si j'aurais bien aimé faire 3h de bus entassé avec les autres touristes...cela permet au moins de voir certains paysages)...ce vais re-essayer!
Et ma 1ere question? l'achat sur place à petit prix...tu en penses quoi?
Ailleurs je l'ai souvent pratiqué et cela a toujours bien fonctionné...

attention que seuls les bus publics vont te permettre de rentrer par voie terrestre a Assouan et sont TRES PEU NOMBREUX, et a réservation obligatoire ...car tous les autres bus avec des toursites sont en majorité chartérisés par TO et des sociétés de voyage qui ne vendent pas de place.
Il te faudra donc réserver ton bus dés ton arrivée à ABS si tu ne veux pas te retrouver sur place pour un temps bien plus long que prévu 52 à 3 nuits !) avant de trovuer une siege dispo, surtout que les etrangers sont limités dans chaque transport public.
Au mieux, jue te conseilel de descendre sur Assouan en avion et de faire l'aller retour en bus, en réservant tes sieges aller/retour depuis assouan ; cela te garantira le voyage et la durée.
pour ce qui est de l'achat sur place à petit prix ??
j'ai bien des doutes !!! car tu te retrouveras a achetter les tarifs de siege qu'il reste à vendre en dernière minute, et egyptair n'a pas pour habitude de brader ses dernieres places ... surtout que les vols sont tous plus que complet pour cette année !! il y a donc bataille pour les résas !
et meme Abou simble est le vol typique que MS surbook systematiquement, tu fera donc mieux de toute facon de refaire confirmer ton vol ABSOLUMENT dés ton arrivéer en Egypte et ENCORE a 24h00 du vol car tu risque d'etre déplacé" d'horaire sans en etre averti si ils ajoutent ou retirent des vols dansl a journée (ce n'est pas rare !) ....surtout si tu ne veux pas voir ta place d'avion sauter sans raison (c'est uen grande spécialité locale chez eux, au détriment des voyageurs individuels qui ne peuvent rien faire contre car monopole de société en national !)
Mieux, je te conseille au contraire de passer directement chez Ms a Paris pour achetter dés a présent ton siege d'avion si tu veux faire l'aller simple a abou simbel, car comme t'en ai parlé, un seul avion dernier vol réservé pour ce faire et donc encore moins de place car pas de choix d'horaire ! ...et toujours biens ur reconfirmer sur place dés que possible.

le visiter est un peu -a mon avis personnel- du voyeurisme sur la misére locale ...!!
il reste bien sur interessant d'y visiter quelques beaux mausolées historiques ouverts au public (la petite fille du prochète y est enterrée et autres nobles) ou encore aller voir les artisants souffleurs de verre au travail.
il te faudra cependant pour le faire un bon chauffeur de taxi qui connait le coin (car pas evident comme labyrinthe !), et qui accepte de t'emmener pour la demi journée, t'y guider, te monter ... et bien sur t"attendre pour te ramener car tu n'y trouveras aucun transport sur place ; je n'en connais pas specifiquement un pour te le recommander.
restent nombreux autres sites aux allentours qui en valent bien mieux la peine, que ce soit dans le quartier copte ou le vieux caire, le coins des mosquées, des taneurs et autres ruelles anciennes pour y voir des choses tout aussi interessantes tant au niveau site, monuments, artisants et approche des gens ...et hélas tu y rencontreras aussi en suffisance la misère visible d'une grande partie de la population .

je sais à quoi m'attendre "en visitant" la cité des morts, mais je suis enseignant en géographie et les aménagements urbains font partie de mes centres d'intérêts, je n'y vais pas pour le "voyeurisme sur la misère locale". Et puis j'ai envie de retrouver les quartiers décrits pas Cossery dans "Mendiants et orgueilleux" à moins que ce ne soit "les couleurs de l'Infamie"...terribles pages sur ce bidonville...
On m'a parlé d'un anthropologue italienne (Anna Tozzi) qui peut aussi faire des visites en anglais...
Mais bien sûr que j'irais trainer dans les autres quartiers...Sais tu si (comme en Chine, en Russie...) il y a des endroits ou les gens ont l'habitude de jouer aux échecs? (j'aime bien m'arreter, regarder, faire une partie; c'est un bon moyen pour faire connaissance).
Ah et derniere question....mon sac ...j'en fais quoi pendant ma visite à Abou Simbel...je le laisse flotter sur le lac? Je prends le rique de le confier à un commerçant contre petite piecette? Un grand truo dans le sable? je pense que dans l'aeroport...impossible? Si il y a qui ont une super solution, je suis preneur!

Alors moi j'aime beaucoup la cité des morts, vrai quartier populaire, de gens dignes et simples ; il m'arrive de penser que la vraie misère c'est de harceler les touristes pour leur vendre n'importe quoi à tous prix aux pyramides. Sans fanatiser sur l'endroit, ce quartier, comme d'autres quartiers pauvres, est intéressant à visiter.

A mon avis, si vous allez chez un commerçant, lui achetez deux ou trois bricoles et faites la conversation, il se fera tuer plutôt que de vous rendre un sac qui aura été fouillé. Il faut le "sentir" un peu, néanmoins. Moins touristique sera le commerce, mieux ce sera.
mon sac ...j'en fais quoi pendant ma visite à Abou Simbel..
le plus simple c'est de demander à l'aéroport en débarquant
(par exemple au guichet d'Egyptair)
ils te trouveront un endroit où le laisser en Egypte il y a toujours une solution !!! -
pour ton sac, il te suffit de présenter ton double billet d'avion à l'enregistrement au Caire et demander pour le faire enregistrer sur ta destination finale = ASSOUAN ...
le vol retour etant dans la meme journée, c'est l'equivalent d'un vol avec connection.
Ton sac t'attendra a l'aéroport de Assouan la matinée sur le tapis, le temps que tu fasse ta visite et que tu vienne le rechercher. (l'aeroport d'asouan etant militaire, peu de chance que ton sac disparaisse durant son "attente " sur le tapis) car c'est un grand classique chez egyptair et connu comme systeme le plus simple pour nombreux TO pour le suivi des valises pour tous les groupes faisant de meme que toi !
autre solution, le faire réenregistrer directement a l'aeroport de ABOU SIMBEL a l'arrivée, mais comme ton temps disponible est limité sur le site de par l'horaire du vol retour imposé, je ne te le recommande pas car tu vas perdre pas mal de temps précieux en faisant l'enregistrement contre du temps de visite sur le site.....surtout que les navettes vers le temple sont de egyptair et seront probablement déja parties avec les autres toursites sans valises vers le temple ..
il te faudra alors attendre une rotation de bus suivante (20 minutes pour que les bus reviennent) et encore du temsp précieux perdu sur le site !

Effectivement, il n'y a que 2 ou 3 bus publiques assurant la liaison Assouan-Abou simbel.

Il ne m'a été possible de réserver une place de bus public à ABS, et il faut savoir qu'en cas d'affluence, la priorité est accordée aux travailleurs se rendant sur les différents chantiers (creusement d'un grd canal, forages, plantations...). Le chauffeur est souverain en la matière.
Toutefois, pour d'autres dessertes, il est souvent possible de réserver.

Now, after seeing and reading a bit everywhere, and with the first quotes for a 6/7-day safari, I’m shocked by the prices (like $2,250) for places like Maasai Mara, where entry alone costs $200 per person per day, plus fees for the driver and vehicle.
So if you have any recent great tips or contacts to share to help me out, I’d really appreciate it—because despite the costs, we’d still love to go, while keeping things reasonable.
The most plausible solution is probably renting a vehicle with a driver-guide.

Three years after exploring northern Argentina and Chile, my two travel buddies and I want to discover the southern part of these two countries.
We’re traveling on a budget, backpacker-style, favoring public transport and modest accommodations, but we don’t hesitate to splurge a little when it’s worth it.
The classic spots that have been fueling our dreams: Bariloche, the lakes, Chiloé, El Chaltén, Torres del Paine, Perito Moreno, El Calafate, Fitz Roy, Ushuaia and Tierra del Fuego, and wrapping up in Valparaíso.
We’ll take a round-trip flight to Santiago, then I’m thinking of a one-way flight from Santiago to Punta Arenas. From there, we’ll explore and do several day hikes in the south, including Ushuaia and, if possible, Tierra del Fuego.
Then we’ll head back north by bus to Bariloche and the lakes, followed by Chiloé, then a bus to Santiago and Valparaíso.
Based on your experience, could you help me figure out the best way to structure this trip and maybe suggest some ideas?

We’re a young couple planning to travel to South Africa after spending about three weeks in Namibia. We’ll arrive in Cape Town around mid-December, with no fixed travel duration (though our budget will eventually set a limit).
After browsing through the forum, we’ve realized the country is packed with incredible spots, which makes choosing an itinerary tough. We’re looking for stunning landscapes, hikes, and so on. So, we’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences.
When we arrive in Cape Town, we’d like to settle in and take it easy until New Year’s, exploring at a relaxed pace. We know this period coincides with South African holidays—does that make finding accommodations (availability/prices) more difficult? Do you think it’s possible to stay in a nice place for about 15 days without aiming for the most upscale neighborhoods? Maybe somewhere a bit outside Cape Town, like Fish Hoek, and just visit the city occasionally.
After that, we’ll have plenty of time (about 2 to 2.5 months) to explore the country. We’d like to take our time. In your opinion, is it better to focus on the Cape Town region, or is it reasonable to consider more distant areas like the Drakensberg or Blyde River Canyon? Can everything be done by car if we take our time, or are domestic flights sometimes more practical?
Budget-wise, how much do car rentals cost? For accommodations, we usually look at Airbnb—are they affordable in South Africa? What’s the average nightly rate outside the biggest cities? Are there other platforms you’d recommend for saving on lodging?
Finally, regarding safety, are there any regions to avoid besides Johannesburg?
We know this is a lot of questions, but we’re still in the early planning stages!

After exploring southern Peru in 2024 with your help, we’d love to head north next. There’ll be 5 or 6 of us:
1. Arrive in Lima in the evening.
2. Visit Lima and take a flight at 6:35 PM to Tarapoto.
3, 4, 5. Spend a few days there to trek in a reserve (Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve) or somewhere else.
6. From Tarapoto to Chachapoyas—either by overnight bus, daytime bus, or private car.
7. In Chachapoyas: Gocta Waterfall, Sonche Canyon, and walk back to town.
8. Head to Kuelap citadel, Revash, and arrive in Leymebamba.
9. Leymebamba museum, then route to Cajamarca.
10. Cajamarca hot springs, overnight bus to Trujillo or Chiclayo—or do both.
11, 12, 13. Visit and explore the area.
14. Overnight bus back to Lima.
15. Lima.
16. Depart at 8 PM for France.

I traveled through southern Peru in November 2024 and now I’d like to explore the north.
We’re a group of 5 people for a 15-day trip.
Iquitos or Nauta for the Amazon rainforest—I saw that you have to fly there.

No problem taking overnight buses—they save a lot of time.
Or renting a car and figuring it out as we go.
We’d also love to take the train from Lima to Huancayo, but it seems complicated—I don’t understand when it runs.
I’d like to drive to Morocco from Paris via Spain. I was really surprised to see the ferry crossing prices—around 500 €—but especially the crossing time (about 1 hour). Normally, I pay 3000 € to go to Tunisia from Genoa, but that’s for a 24-hour crossing.
My question: is it cheaper to buy the ticket on the spot, as some Moroccans have advised me? Though I’ve also heard the opposite.
What do you think, considering I need to get to Tétouan around July 17th and return from Tangier around August 4th?

I’m planning a 10-day trip to Slovenia in May (9–19 May) and starting to look at accommodations. Unfortunately, I’m only seeing relatively expensive options—nothing under 50 €, and usually around 100–150 €. Traveling solo, that could quickly blow my budget. And 30 € for a bed in a 10-person dorm at a youth hostel feels like a rip-off...
Are there other booking sources besides the usual Booking.com, Airbnb, and Google? Or can anyone confirm if I’ll find more reasonable rates on the ground around Bled, Bohinj, Triglav, or in mountain huts? I’ll be renting a car to optimize my travel, so I won’t be limited geographically.

Could you recommend some nice and affordable neighborhoods to book a hotel in for visiting Nice and exploring its surroundings and nearby villages?
I’d like to know if it’s better to book the entire stay in Nice and take day trips to the villages, or if there are villages worth spending at least one night in to really explore them properly?
Since all the villages are stunning and we have to make a choice, which ones are absolutely must-visit?
My 16-year-old daughter and I will be spending a week there at the end of April. We’ll arrive by TGV from Paris and plan to use public transport during our stay. Do you know if there’s a weekly transport pass available and how much it costs?
