Je souhaites me rendre à Los Angeles au mois de mars 2014 en tant que touriste pour une dizaine de jours. Malheureusement il y a 5 ans j'ai fais une grosse bêtise avec la drogue pendant un an, à cause de problèmes familiaux. J'ai été mise en examen et mon jugement viens d'être rendu, cela a pris quelques années! J'aurais ma condamnation définitive le 2 juillet, sachant que j'écoperai surement de 10 ou 15 mois de sursis. Entre temps j'avais tenté de partir aux Etats-Unis, donc j'avais rempli un formulaire ESTA en toute honnêteté, qui m'a biensûre été refusé, puis je me suis rendu à l'Ambassade des Etats-Unis pour faire une demande de visa, qui m'a été aussi refusé car ma date de jugement n'était pas encore passée. Maintenant que cela est fait je vais retenter une demande visa, mais j'aurai un casier judiciaire et je sais qu'ils sont très strict au niveau des affaires de drogue et j'ai peur de repayer cher pour obtenir une réponse négative... Pensez-vous que j'ai quand-même une chance d'obtenir un visa? Je suis clean depuis 4 ans, j'ai un enfant à charge et j'espère que tout cela aidera à convaincre l'officier de me délivrer un visa. Si par chance mon visa m'est accordé, j'ai encore une crainte, celle d'être refouler du territoire américain à l'arriver. Peut-on me refouler même avec mon enfant?
J'ai déjà lu des témoignages de gens s'étant vu refusé l'accès aux Etats-Unis car il s'était fait prendre uniquement pour possession par le passé. ça a l'air mal partie ton affaire. Globalement tu ne rentres pas aux US avec un casier judiciaire autre que pour des délits mineurs (conduite en état d'ivresse, gros excès de vitesse, voie de fait...). Avec des histoires liées à la drogue c'est même pas la peine... même si ça s'est passé il y a quelques années.
Je suis vraiment désespérée car c'est un voyage important qui compte beaucoup pour moi... Qui pourrait m'aider à obtenir un visa ou à voyager aux Etats-unis? Les stars qui ont eu des problèmes de drogue arrivent à voyager dans le monde entier, même si je n'en suis pas une, il y a forcément un moyen, quelqu'un qui puisse m'aider, auprès de qui puis-je m'adresser pour obtenir cette aide?
Rapproche toi d'un avocat specialise en immigration US. S'il y a une solution, les avocats la connaissent.

Oui, il ne fallait rien dire, maintenant cela va être compliqué pour vous...
Croyez mon expérience ( j'ai été refoulé une fois à un port d'entrée pour les U.S. ), ne perdez ni votre temps ni votre argent avec un avocat d'immigration, il naura accès à aucune information pouvant vous aider.
Même si le visa vous est délivré vous courrez toujours le risque de vous faire refouler à l'arrivée !
La solution la moins douloureuse serait de prendre l'avion pour le Canada et de tenter votre chance à un poste-frontière terrestre même sans visa, au moins si vous vous faites refouler vous pouvez retourner en arrière et rester visiter le Québec...
Que l'on arrive aux États-Unis depuis la France par avion, ou par le Canada ou le Mexique à pied, en train ou en voiture, les conditions d'entrées sont les mêmes... Et dans tous les cas il faudra remplir le formulaire ESTA à l'avance...
Une question toute bête : y a-t'il une vraie raison à ce voyage à LA ?
Parce que sinon, il y a plein de pays formidables dans le monde qui ne demandent aucune autre formalité qu'un passeport valide. Alors pourquoi aller spécialement dans l'un des pays qui emmerdent le plus les touristes qui veulent y aller ? 😐

les USA ont une position très restrictive sur les condamnations, en particulier sur celles liées à la drogue avec lesquelles ils ne plaisantent pas du tout.
Quelques recherches sur le forum te prouveront qu'il ne s'agit même pas d'être condamné mais juste d'avoir un 'écho' dans la base de la police et c'est le rejet assuré. Pour info, avec les systèmes modernes, l'info est disponible partout (même à la frontière avec le Mexique ou le Canada) et n'expire pas parce que ça disparait de ton casier judiciaire. Donc même si tu n'avais rien dit, tu aurais été certainement grillée.
Franchement, 99% de chance que ta demande de visa soit rejetée. Tu seras exactement ce dont ils ne veulent pas : quelqu'un qui a trempé dans du trafic de drogue (dans leur vision).
Le Canada a mis en place un système de pardon qui permet d'être blanchi. Mais je crois qu'il faut que le délai du sursis soit passé (soit genre 3 ans après la condamnation).
Si on passe par VOIE TERRESTRE du Canada aux USA ou du Mexique aux USA, il ne faut pas d'ESTA 😉
L'Esta permet aux cies aériennes de ne pas embarquer des personnes qui seront systématiquement refoulées à l'arrivée aux USA, ce qui ne veut pas dire que rentrer par la route est plus simple : dans tous les points d'entrée, les officiers de l'immigration vérifient le dossier et accordent ou pas l'accés au territoire US. Et pour avoir testé les deux systèmes, je dirais que les accès par la route ont des officiers bien plus pointilleux et pénibles que ceux des aéroports...
Je n'ai jamais prétendu le contraire, je corrigeais juste notre cher ami qui disait qu'il fallait l'ESTA pour rentrer en voiture depuis le Canada aux USA. C'était juste pour corriger cette imprécision, rien d'autre. 😉

Non c'est faux, les Américains n'ont pas accès aux casiers judiciaires FR comme ça, y a un code de procédure pénale qui encadre tout ça de manière très stricte. Il peut être communiqué à l'UE dans le cadre de la coop policière, mais pour des motifs précis.
Un agent de l'ICE à la frontière Américaine n'a certainement pas accès à ces données. Je veux bien croire que dans l'imaginaire collectif les USA ont une hégémonie suprême en matière de renseignements, mais la France est un état souverain, on ne communique pas ce genre d'infos comme ça.
J'ai bien précisé qu'il n'était pas question de casiers judiciaires mais des fichiers de police, merci de bien me lire.
Il s'agit des ex-fichiers STIC et JUDEX dont les données ont été reversés dans le fichier TAJ (ex-Ariane).
Cet accès par des services de police étranger est légal et prévu dans le cadre du code de la sécurité intérieure (Article L235-1 créé par Ordonnance n°2012-351 du 12 mars 2012)

Donc si, la France est un pays souverain qui transmet ses données de police comme ça.
La CNIL signale depuis longtemps que ces dispositions sont très limites au vu de la loi de 1978 (pour ne pas dire plus) car la conservation des données est de 20 ans... Et les victimes dont un Hit au même titre que les auteurs d'infraction.
Reste à espérer que la transmission internationale se fait "intelligemment"...
Il est quand même curieux, pour ne pas dire +, que vous indiquiez dans votre profil avoir un lieu de résidence aux US et que vous souhaitiez votre rendre à LA.

Mon avocat à demandé au juge d'instruction que cela ne figure pas sur mon casier étant donné que je travaille dans le domaine médical et qu'il peut être consulté à tout moment. Ceci dit, avec le passeport biométrique, l'infraction se voit direct. Les officiers ont également accès aux fichiers de police, d'après mon avocat. Puis je suis quelqu'un d'honnête donc j'ai rempli mon formulaire ESTA conformément aux règles, et j'ai déjà eu assez d'ennui.
Oui il y a une vraie raison à ce voyage à LA. je sais que le monde est grand et il y a beaucoup de pays que j'aimerais visiter comme le Népal, le Cambodge, le Tibet, L'islande et tellement d'autres encore... Mais Los Angeles reste ma priorité pour des raisons sentimentales...

Ayant mon casier judiciaire de moins de 5 ans et ayant 3 mise en cause dans mon fichier stic, j'ai pris un vol Dublin Orlando sachant qu'à l'aéroport de dublin se trouve l'immigration américaine donc oui ou non pour l'entrée aux USA on le sait dessuite. Arrivé à l'immigration et avec mon nom à forte consonance arabe, j'ai eu droit à la totale, triple questionnaire avec 2 agent dans un endroit isolé, fouille totale de tout mes bagages, question sur le maniement des armes à feu.. J dis bien la totale!!!! Il était même en train de passer des appels pour trouver des truc sur moi!!! On ma garder 1h et demi!!!Et au final ils m'ont gentillment remis mon passeport en me souhaitant bon voyage et en me remerciant de ma coopération. Vous devez répondre oui si vous avez été condamné pour une affaire en lien avec les stups.
De fait, votre ESTA sera automatiquement refusé et vous devrez passer via un visa B2.

I’m planning a trip from France to Alberta/British Columbia, and I’m unsure about which bank card to use for the security deposit with the rental company (I’m thinking of going with AVIS).
I contacted Avis Canada, and they told me a credit card is absolutely required. I asked my bank for a credit card (a *real* credit card), but they only offered me a deferred debit card.
My question: For a rental with Avis Canada, is a Gold International Mastercard deferred debit card usable for the security deposit needed to finalize the rental? Is the "CREDIT" label enough? (Some cards say "CREDIT" and others say "CARTE DE CREDIT"—seems minor, but it’s actually a big deal in how the card works.)
I’ve seen conflicting info everywhere I look... My bank says it’s *usually* okay (the deferred debit card), while Avis Canada insists it *must* be a credit card, not debit—even when I mention the deferred debit card.
I know the whole credit card concept is already confusing, and on top of that, some sites say a deferred debit card counts as a credit card, while others say it doesn’t.

I’ll explain my situation.
Unfortunately, I lost my passport, and I only realized it two weeks before my departure for a humanitarian mission in Libya. I’m a nurse, and this mission really means a lot to me.
First, I applied for an emergency passport, but it was denied by the Val-d'Oise prefecture on the grounds that a planned humanitarian mission wasn’t considered an urgent reason.
So, I submitted a biometric passport application on July 20th. Since then, the tracking has been stuck, and the town hall can’t (or won’t) give me any clear information. Every time I call, I get a different story. The last update I received was that the passport had been produced since July 23rd with a status of "about to be shipped," but nothing since then.
I’ve managed to push my departure back to next Tuesday at the latest, but I’m starting to really panic.
Have any of you submitted an application around July 20th, especially in Val-d'Oise (95)? How long did you wait between the passport being produced and it being available at the town hall? Is it normal for this step to take this long?
This mission means so much to me. I had everything organized, and I’m also supposed to attend a friend’s wedding right after near the border.

I’m a bit embarrassed because I need to travel to Quebec from February 27th to March 13th. I’m a regular visitor to Canada—this will be my 10th trip since 1997, plus a year as a permanent resident (2000–2001) and a cross-country run from Vancouver to Halifax in 2011. So, I’m definitely not a terrorist!
But since our last trip in July 2015, they’ve introduced this eTA thing. Seems more like a way to make money than to actually secure Canada, if you ask me, but anyway, that’s not the point.
I applied for an eTA for myself, my wife, and our two kids. They all got approved within hours, but not me! I was asked to create a GC key and then an IRCC account, which I did. Normally, you get news within 72 hours, but since Monday, January 15th, nothing!
In the "message" section of the account, it says "explanation letter (required)" with a deadline of January 25th, but I can’t find any explanation anywhere—despite searching the Canadian government website and Google. No links, nothing!
I’ve emailed them but haven’t heard back yet. I’m thinking of calling the Canadian embassy in Paris tomorrow. Even though I’m not stressing yet, it’d be a bummer if everyone else got to go without me!
If anyone’s had this issue before or knows what this explanation letter is about, I’d love to hear more.

I bought a one-way flight (Ryanair) and a return flight (EasyJet) to spend a week in Morocco in April.
My passport expires 3 weeks after the return date.
Some websites say the passport must be valid for 3 months at the time of entry.
However, it will still be valid both on entry and return, but its validity will only be 1 month at the time of entry (and 3 weeks on the return date, everything prepaid).
It's an individual family trip.
The consulate can't give me an answer—they're still looking into it (really!)
Last year, we stayed for 3 months in Thailand, north of Khao Lak, and were able to benefit from the 2-month visa exemption, renewable for one month by going to Takua Pa to validate a 1-month extension (1,900 baht).
This year, it’s a disaster for us—not only were we planning a 4-month stay, adding a visa run in between (which some say is quite risky), but the law is apparently changing in the coming months with the return of the 1-month exemption (plus the usual 1-month option). So, we looked into applying for a 6-month multiple-entry visa, allowing a maximum of 60 consecutive days in Thailand. However, I can’t find anywhere the minimum time required outside Thailand between two stays—do any of you have an idea?

As a French national, I need to obtain a short-stay visa that can be converted to a long-stay one. To do this, I have to send the required documents to the Madagascar embassy in Paris.
No issues with that procedure so far.
If I get this visa, once I arrive in Madagascar, I’ll need to provide the same documents to the Ministry of the Interior in Anosy. I’m trying to find an email address or website for the Ministry to check which documents I need to submit (I think they ask for additional ones).

I’d like to know if anyone has already applied for a private visa to Russia with an invitation from a Russian resident.
I traveled earlier this year with an e-visa, but since I want to stay longer, I’ll be visiting my friend who lives in eastern Russia.
For the visa application, does the invitation need to be on an official paper form issued by the Russian ministry? And most importantly, do I need to present the original for the application, or is there an electronic version that can be sent directly to the consulate in France?

I filled out the B2 form to apply for a visa, created an account on Atvis to pay the visa fees and schedule a meet-up, but every time I try to pay with my Boursobank Visa 1st card, they refuse the payment with a message telling me to check my details (address), even though everything is correct. Does anyone know why this is happening, or maybe they don’t accept Visa cards? Are you aware of this?

I’ve read that China may ask for proof of exit within 30 days (flight ticket or other reservation). Since we’d be leaving by land, I’m wondering how this works in practice.

On her ticket, it only has her maiden name (e.g., Martine DUPOND).
On her passport, it’s written as Martine DUPOND épouse AVRY.
No issues for travel, I hope I did the right thing with the ticket?
Then for the ESTA, is just Martine DUPOND enough, or do I need to include the "épouse AVRY" part like on the passport?
