Je suis en train de prévoir un voyage en moto de 10 jours entre le Texas ou la Louisiane jusqu'au Bike Week de Daytona. Je voudrais prendre environ 1 semaine pour me rendre jusqu'à Daytona et passer 3 jours au festival.
Je me chercher un parcours de moto axé sur les belles routes (scéniques, beaux virages... etc). Pour faire entre 300 et 600 km par jour. J'imagine que nous ferons un petit arrêt à la Nouvelle-Orléans, mais c'est pas mal le seul arrêt touristique que je prévois.
Des conseils de routes fabuleuses?!
Devrais-je partir du Texas ou est-ce que je vais manquer de temps?
Aussi, pour Daytona, je veux prendre un hôtel en banlieue de la ville (60-80 km). Des suggestions?
Nous partons du Qc en avion vers les États-Unis et louons des motos sur place.
Pour Daytona juste un peu au Nord Il y a Ormond Beach-by-the -sea( pas pret de la mer ) avec beaucoup d'hotels et le un gros dealer HD au croisement de l'autoroute 95 et de la route 1. Pour la moto de location de port de casque est obliquatoire, 🙁..... Pour le trajet entre la louisianne la route et Daytona tu as tout le long de la côte Est qui est parfait n'oublie pas Panama city en passant....
Bon pour tout dire, entre le Texas et la Floride, ce n'est pas forcément là que tu trouveras les plus belles routes.
Néanmoins, quelques petits bijoux : le Big Bend National Park dans le sud du Texas, la route côtière entre le Texas et la Floride via le Mississipi, l'Alabama et le nord de la Floride. Bref, il y a de quoi s'éclater une dizaine de jours surtout avec une moyenne de 300 à 600 km par jour !
Pourquoi pas un El Paso - Daytona ? Mais attention aux frais d'un "One Way" ...
En avril dernier, nous avons fait un Coast to Coast traversant quelques très belles routes dans ces régions.
Donc, si tu veux quelques infos, tu pourrais être intéressé par CA.

J'ai regardé un peu mon itinéraire et je pensais faire environ 500 km (300 miles) par jour. Pour rouler environ entre 8h et 17h. Est-ce trop? J'hésite. Je pars de Dallas et je devrais finir vers Orlando. En 1 semaine.
Une semaine c'est court, court ! Mais si tu n'as ps le choix, c'est mieux que rien.
300 miles par jour, cela va dépendre du type de route que tu vas emprunter. Sur les Interstates et/ou Highways, pas de souci, la vitesse maximum est de 65, voire parfois 75 miles/h. C'est sur les plus petites routes, et donc les plus intéressantes, que tu roules plus lentement, entre 45 et 55 m/h. Sans compter les arrêts, le trafic, la signalisation ...
Par contre aucun souci pour prendre la route à 08h00 et se poser vers 17h00, ce sera de longue journée, mais quand on aime on ne compte pas, non ? Si tu tiens ces horaires, c'est parfaitement faisable. Ensuite, c'est toi qui sais si 8-9 heures de selle te conviennent.
Es-tu obligée de partir de Dallas ? Pourquoi pas Houston par exemple et ensuite tu suis la côte jusqu'à Orlando, que par les petites routes, avec même un arrêt à New Orleans ? Tu gagnerais un jour de route.
La côte sud est vraiment sympa à rouler, que ce soit la traversée du Mississipi, mais surtout de l'Alabama et de la Louisiane. La côte nord de la Floride est également très sympa, ce sont des itinéraires en dehors des grands classiques US et tu y verras donc un peu plus d'authenticité.

Pour monter mon trajet, je me fie à Google Map. Habituellement, l'information est bonne du côté temps.
Au départ, je pensais justement partir de Houston, mais j'ai trouvé de belles routes à faire un peu plus au nord jusqu'à Lafayette. Ensuite, je pensais à la Nouvelle-Orléans et passer par la côte pour aller à Panama City. Est-ce mieux de passer mes nuits dans une grande ville (et de profiter de son atmosphère en soirée) ou de coucher en banlieue (vais-je être en forme pour sortir le soir de toute façon?), à ton avis?
On avait tout préparé aussi via Google Map et les itinéraires étaient toujours justes.
Je ne connais pas les routes entre Dallas et N.O. par l'intérieur du pays, mais pour nous, nous avions bien aimé rouler dans l'extrême sud de la Louisiane, le long du golfe du Mexique, à travers les bayous avec les alligators de chaque côté de la route. Maintenant, c'est vrai que le paysage pouvait être assez monotone, plat, marais à gauche, marais à droite, mais aucun touriste par contre !
Entre Lafayette et N.O., je te conseille la LA 182 qui descend sur Morgan City. C'est pas très long, mais les petites villes traversées sont splendides, typiques du Sud, avec les arbres à mousse espagnole...
Pour N.O., loge au centre, notre hôtel était parfait (tu peux réserver via le net, sur leur site). Pas cher, un parking gratuit où tu peux laisser les motos, un quartier sûr, le tramway à 3 minutes à pied qui te conduit direct sur Bourbon Street et qui t'évites de prendre la moto si tu t'encanailles un peu sur Bourbon ... Même si tu as bien roulé, tu ne peux pas manquer Bourbon Street le soir. Tu verras la fatigue disparaît assez vite...
Ensuite de N.O jusqu'en Floride, je te conseille de suivre la route côtière. Et notamment le passage par Dolphin Island, au sud de Mobile/AL, avec le ferry. Là aussi, aucun touriste, si ce n'est US bien sûr. La côte nord de la Floride est très sympa, petites routes, le long des plages et des forêts. Là aussi, peu de touristes.
Pour autant de route, sois attentive au confort de la moto !

Salut quand tu parle de loger au centre de N.O. c'est un hotel ou juste comme exemple . moi je veux faire 2 a 3 jours de ce coin N.O.+ Louisiane Mais J'ai une remorque pour la moto je cherche un endroit sécuritaire pour laisser l'auto et la remorque le temp de rider dans les allentours.J'avais pensé plus pour logement comme B&B ????? .Semaine fin Février et ensuite je continue plus au Sud je loue un condo pour 2 semaines a Treasure Island. FL.
C'est bel et bien un hôtel, le Prytania Park, avec des chambres à plusieurs prix, dont le premier débute sauf erreur à 79$, petit-déjeuner compris.
Au niveau du parking, il est extérieur, pas vraiment gardé mais éclairé, juste à côté de l'hôtel, dans une sorte de cour entre deux maisons. Nous y avions laissé nos deux E-Glide, cadenassées, et nous n'avons eu aucun souci.
Les avantages de cet établissement sont :
1/ le prix, pas cher pour un hôtel au centre, avec pdj
2/ l'emplacement, au centre de la ville, avec le tram qui te mène vers Bourbon St., le quartier français, les bords du Misssissipi.

Je ne sais pas pour toi mais moi je ferais le tour de la floride et j'irais jusqu'au Keys dans l'extrème sud, pourquoi !?, si tu par du texas et que la pluie se met de la partie, la route seras plate a faire pour aller a daytona et tu va te sentir toujours pressé par le temps !!!! sinon, en floride tu auras des solutions de rechanges, et tu ne sera jamais loin de daytona.
Tu vas adorée autant rouler et je crois que tu va avoir de plus belle routes et de plus beaux paysages en floride.
En étant dans les parages de quelques centaine de kms, tu peu prévoir plus facilement pour parer a d'éventuel imprévu et ainsi profiter de ton voyage.
Il est sur que la floride est grande et même une semaine a rider en fesant le contour proche de la mer, il va te manquer du temps pour le faire.

I’m starting to think about a trip that’s really close to my heart: Algeria by motorcycle, specifically the southern part of the country. It’d be for January 2025, and I’ve got two main questions:
Is it possible for an individual on a motorcycle to travel freely, outside of any organized tour, or does the regulation require some kind of supervision in the Algerian Sahara region?
Is the Hoggar massif accessible by road or by (rideable) tracks?

I just realized I’ve been registered on VoyageForum since... March 28, 2012 😊. Yet, I’ve barely participated until now.
August 1, 2026, will mark a somewhat special milestone: 5 years on the road.
We left Switzerland on August 1, 2021 with a simple idea: let chance decide our direction. We placed a bottle of wine on a world map, spun it... and it chose our first destination.
A year later, when we arrived in Morocco, we faced a new choice: continue toward Africa or head to Asia. This time, a tarot card game made the decision. Since then, we’ve tried to keep this journey as open to the unexpected as possible.
Today, that adds up to about 120,000 km, 46 countries, and over 1,800 days on the road—mostly by motorcycle, but also by sailboat, train, bus, hitchhiking, or on foot when adventure calls.
Our guiding thread isn’t just the motorcycle, but service exchanges. Instead of simply passing through countries, we try to stop regularly to lend a hand to the people we meet. So far, that’s about 600 days of volunteering.
Over the years, we’ve:
renovated a house in Croatia
made earth bricks in the Moroccan desert
helped sail a boat through the Greek islands
looked after houses, dogs, horses, a camel... and lots of other animals
worked at a street art festival in Morocco
created videos for local associations and projects
worked the grape harvest on the Tibetan plateau
been accredited as "media" for the World Nomad Games in Central Asia
Some of the moments that have stuck with us the most include six months in China, a night spent on the Great Wall, the Pamir Highway, the Silk Road, three months in Taiwan, and the incredible encounters in the mountains of Central Asia.
We travel on Falkor, our lucky dragon—a 2014 BMW F800GS that’s been with us since the start and is starting to have some great stories of its own.
While we share our adventure on Instagram, Polarsteps, and YouTube, that’s not why we’re here. The forum’s rules about promotion are clear, and I totally get them. If I’m finally taking the time to write, it’s mostly because after five years on the road, I thought our experience might be useful to other travelers.

I’m planning a motorcycle road trip to Armenia and Georgia in September 2026 or May 2027. I’m looking for one or more riders (male or female) who’d like to explore these countries with me.
Along the way, we’ll visit Cappadocia, the capitals Yerevan, Tbilisi, Sofia, Skopje, and other cities—we can finalize the route and roadbook later.
This trip requires experience with long motorcycle journeys, as we’ll cover around 7,000 km over 5 or 6 weeks (or more, depending on sightseeing and time spent).
I don’t expect dozens of applicants, since motorcycle riders are few and far between on this forum, but I’m putting this out there anyway.

I’m not particularly drawn to museums, ruins, or monuments.
I want to experience local life—small villages, seaside spots, beaches, and the interior if the landscapes are extraordinary.
Ideally, coming from Athens, I’d take a bus or train to get as close as possible to a starting point, then rent a scooter (125cc) to explore by taking secondary roads or even coastal paths. I’d stay in 2-3 places for a few days each to discover their surroundings.

What do you think would be the ideal itinerary?
From Athens, the best option would be to take either a flight or a bus to Kalamata. Rent a scooter and head either west or east. Is there a tertiary road (very lightly trafficked) or a path where I can ride slowly, take it easy, and enjoy the scenery without being bothered by traffic? I’d like to go all the way to Monemvasia, still hugging the coast. I need to find a way to avoid returning to Kalamata to drop off the scooter and catch a flight—maybe a small town where the train stops so I can head back to Athens.

How do you get visas for the countries I’ll be crossing: Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Chile? Are they e-Visas, obtained at the border, or through embassies?
Where can I get vehicle insurance?

I’ve got 15 days off in June and I’m pretty undecided about where to go for a motorcycle road trip. Two strong desires are pulling me in different directions: Corsica or Norway.
Corsica has been a dream of mine for a long time: legendary roads, stunning landscapes, a unique vibe, and the perfect mix of sea and mountains. At the same time, I’m wondering if 2 weeks might be *too much* for Corsica—risking feeling like I’ve seen it all too quickly, especially on a bike.
Since I also have an extra week free in May, I could use that specifically for Corsica. Maybe splitting it into two trips would make more sense? If so, which routes or regions would be the most interesting to plan for a 7-day trip?
On the other hand, Norway is *super* appealing. The landscapes look incredible, totally different from anything I’ve experienced, and it’d be a real “wow” trip. I know 15 days is still short for such a vast country. Getting all the way to the North Cape seems pretty much impossible in that time, but I’m curious about what realistic routes could be planned.
So I’m wondering:
Is it better to save Norway for next year, take 3 weeks off, and do it *properly*?
Or are 15 days enough for a first amazing taste of the country?
I’d love to hear about your experiences—whether it’s Corsica (ideal duration, routes) or Norway (what’s realistic in 2 weeks on a bike).

Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.

Unfortunately, I’m worried that parts of the N630 may have disappeared or merged with the A66 motorway, forcing us to ride long stretches of highway, which we’d rather avoid.

This is our first motorcycle trip in Morocco. I got my license two years ago with the dream of taking this kind of trip, and here we are! ✌️😍
In France, we usually ride between 300 to 400 km per day on roadsters. We’re not used to off-road tracks, so we’re looking for easy ones 😅—especially for me 😅.
For Morocco, I’ve planned stages of 200 to 300 km per day.
Here’s the idea:
Day 1 (departure at noon): Marrakech - Tizi n Test - Tafingoult (165 km - 4h15)
Day 2: Tafingoult - Amzarkou - Telouet (200 km - 4h34)
Day 3: Telouet - Ait Benhaddou - Ouarzazate - Boumalne (200 km - 3h30) (+ Vallée des Roses maybe)
Day 4: Boumalne - Dades Gorges - Agoudal - Todra Gorges - Tinghir - Goulmima (291 km - 6h)
Day 5: Goulmima - Midelt - Cirque Jaffar - Agoudim (280 km - 4h45)
Day 6: Agoudim - Imilchil - Aghbala - El Ksiba (280 km - 4h45)
Day 7: El Ksiba - La Cathédrale - Zaouiat Ahansal (212 km - 4h20)
Day 8: Ahansal - Ouzoud Waterfalls via R 302 (188 km - 4h22)
Day 9: Ouzoud - Marrakech (160 km - 2h43)
