hi Jojoone, with all due respect, the websites you visit and your private life are your business, heh heh Unless your frivolity charms some members of this forum.

hi, just adding that it's crazy how the media of all kinds manipulate people's consciousness 😉 😉 George Orwell must be spinning in his grave—it's wild. What bothers me isn't so much the content produced by YouTubers and others, but rather the algorithms of major platforms that push consumers to isolate themselves in a filter bubble. It's especially younger people who are strongly influenced.

So true. And it's even more relevant with the release of *The Social Reckoning*. In this culture of instant gratification on social media, who takes the time to check the origin of content or the reliability of its source? Not many. Today, media and information literacy should be considered a fundamental skill.

Hi Marie, Hi everyone,

I’m not really sure influencers should be blamed for all the ills out there.

Here’s a little story.

About 30 years ago, I was teaching a kind of media literacy module, and there was a trend in some regional or local media to present things and facts in a way that experience proved wrong. At the time, I had a brief email exchange with someone who was probably the editor-in-chief of that media outlet, and I read a response that was as short as it was shocking. She believed her role wasn’t to inform but to "shape opinion," not to present facts but to "edify readers." Such a moralistic approach and such a disconnect from actual information left me pretty stunned back then.

But ever since, I’ve read the news—very little of it, actually—with a huge grain of salt, including the outlets that claim to be neutral and non-polemical (especially those, in fact). Just recently, I witnessed two accidents, and the way they were reported was completely insincere, yet so "morally proper."
