Vraiment hâte de se voyage car malgré déjà 3 Ouest, dans celui il y aura pleins de découvertes avec Sedona, Valley of Fire, je peux dire aussi Zion que nous avions survolé, Cedar Breaks, Page et Lake Powell ou nous avions juste fait Upper antelope et un tour de bateau, Canyon de Chelly, Petrified Forest et Apache trail road .
De connu Las Vegas, Bryce, un peu de Zion et un peu de Page

J5 un tour à Red Rock Canyon NCA ?
J7 Yant Flat serait mieux au Sunrise, l'AM ou en soirée, c'est chaleur ... puis après y a encore la route > Zion
J10 est plus que chargé, en repartant de Zion pour Kanarra faudra repasser Springdale, ça roule au pas, puis y a pas mal de route en voulant à Bryce en passant par Cedar Breaks...
J12 1 heure de gagné en passant de UT à AZ
J15 partir de Page, faire tout Chelly + White House Trail ??? non là, c'est un peu too much 😉, regardez mon carnet en cours ... Si vous dormez sur place, faites 50/50 le soir puis le reste le lendemain. Et donc avant de partir de Page, un tour à Wild-ere Land ou Waterholes Canyon par exemple.

La ça ne m'arrange pas car si je coupe en 2 , le jour ou je ferais Painted je fais également Apache trail road jusqu'a Tempe, pas sur que ça passe
Jour 15 je te conseille alors en partant de Page d'aller directement à Spider rock puis de faire White House trail et toute cette partie du Canyon. Le lendemain matin l'autre partie qui se fait plus rapidement et ensuite directement petrified Forest et painted desert avec nuit à Winslow tu auras donc le temps de faire tout le parc. Pour le décalage horaire à Chinle, pas de soucis. Ce n'est contraignant que pour l'ouverture des commerces. Pas la peine de changer d'heure exprès vu que le lendemain vous repartez et que dès que vous quitterez Chinle l'heure d'Arizona sera de retour.

Canyon de Chelly, les deux rives, c'est magique mais peu de trails disponibles et environnement "urbain" un tantinet dégradé bref.
Nous n'avions pas réussis à avoir le pass pour the wawe en revanche la belle surprise qu'est the wire pass et buckskin Gulch juste à coté, pas de pass requis même parking même route défoncée...
Petrified forest et surout le desert coloré sont sympa à découvrir;
pour finir Page est une déception, usine à touriste, Antelope canyon (réservez très tôt en France si possible votre passage) est juste un trés bel endroit mais la gestion des visite est juste chaotique, vraiment la très nette impression d'être du bétail que l'on pousse pour faire avancer le troupeau suivant;

Wire pass et Buckskin Gulch sont nos choix au cas ou nous ne serons pas admis pour l'un des deux Coyotes.
A Page nous logerons au Lake Powell Motel qui d'ailleurs le meilleur rapport qualité prix depuis de nombreuses années ( d'après sites de voyages et forums divers) et Mark est vraiment sympa. En fait nous n' aurons qu'une journée à Page puisque le premier jour nous faisons la Cottonwood, le 2ème Page et le 3ème ça sera Wire pass Buckskin ou Coyote Buttes ou Lee's Ferry donc loin de Page.
Antelope est certes une grosse usine rentable pour le peuple Navajo mais ça vaut quand même le coup.
Tu n'es pas le premier que j'entends dire que Chinle est peu ragoutant 😉
Je peux encore changer mon fusil d'épaule et stopper ailleurs;
Concernant Cedar Breaks, nous n'y logerons pas, nous finirons la journée à Bryce.
Oh mais le matin, il faut que tu ailles voir Hope Arch ! Juste à côté du canyon de Chelly et revenir déjeuner ensuite ou encore mieux... déjeuner devant l'arche 😉

Pour le jour suivant nous devons aller jusqu'à Tempe et nous hésitons à faire l Apache trail road ou autre chose, mais nous ne savons pas quoi. C'est vraiment une journée ou nou sommes indécis sauf pou Meteor Crater qui ne nous attire vraiment pas

j'aimerais une petite précision car j'ai du mal à m'y retrouver avec les différentes façon d'arriver au Devil's Bridge :
1) je crois comprendre que le + court est de commencer la balade au Devil's bridge trail parking lot, qui se situe sur Vultee arch, mais il s'agit apparemment d'une route non goudronnée ;
2) si on veut absolument ne pas prendre de piste, il est possible de prendre la Long Canyon road, s’arrêter au Mescal Trail Head, commencer la balade pédestre de ce point vers l'est , rejoindre la chuckwagon trail, et ensuite retrouver le devil's bridge parking lot ; est-ce correct ?
Combien de km ferait cette balade n°2 (combinaison de la mescal trail, chuckwagon trail et devil's bridge trail ?
je rentre dans les finitions du voyage avec réservation du Lower Antelope et merci a Ducono qui m'y a fait penser😉 pour le 8 aout je n'ai pas les horaires souhaités. 🙁

Je découvre votre question seulement maintenant.
Nous avons laissé la voiture au parking situé devant la piste et nous avons marché sur la piste jusqu'à la jonction avec le sentier.
Nous avons fait cette randonnée l'après-midi (le matin, nous avons fait "West Fork Oak Creek"). Je parle de cette journée ici :

Nous nous interrogeons sur le choix d'abandonner Bryce Canyon que nous avons fait 2 fois déjà mais que nous aimons beaucoup🙂

Si tu tentes la loterie pour the Wave le 7 août et que tu gagnes, tu auras tes pass pour le 8 août, donc tu ne peux pas réserver White Pocket avec les Dodson le 8. Ou alors tu leurs demandes de t'emmener à White Pocket ET the Wave en cas de victoire.

Oui en effet ! La première fois que nous sommes allés à CBS, c'était en 2014 avec les Dodson. On avait été à Cottonwood Cove puis White Pocket. On avait pris les pass sur internet 4 mois avant. En étant prêt à 20H tu ne devrais pas avoir de souci pour en obtenir.
Puis en 2015 on en a achetés 4 sur place le jour-même : on n'avait pas le véhicule adéquat alors on s'est limité à Paw Hole. Et on a réitéré ça en 2016 parce qu'on aime ce coin et parce qu'on avait manqué un endroit dans Paw Hole (et puis aussi parce qu'on avait échoué à The Wave...😐). Enfin bref ! En 2016 on les avait achetés la veille : il faut attendre 10H pour être sûr qu'il y a moins de 10 personnes et pouvoir l'acheter de suite. S'il y a plus de 10 personnes, ils font un tirage au sort.

Pour Coyote Buttes South, j'ai fait ma demande de permis le 1er avril 2016. Je l'ai reçu par la poste à peu près un mois après (lors de la demande de permis, on a le choix entre un envoi par la poste ou le retirer sur place, j'avais demandé l'envoi à domicile). Le permis que j'ai reçu est daté du 19 avril. Je ne me souviens plus de la date exacte de sa réception. Je pense que je l'ai reçu une semaine après le 19/04.

- Depuis l’arrêt à The Grotto jusqu’à Weeping Rock pour un petit trail de niveau facile
- Retour à l’hôtel Bumbleberry
JOUR : 9 ZION NATIONAL PARK
- Arrêt au Zion lodge pour récupérer le materiel de location pour The Narrows si cela n’est pas fait la veille, minimum chaussures étanches et batons. Sacs étanches pour matériels électroniques

Excellente décision... C'est super de prévoir plein de choses, mais encore plus d'ajuster sur place en fonction du temps disponible, de la fatigue de la météo et accepter de remettre à un prochain voyage 😉. c'est exactement comme ça que je conçois nos voyages😉

Ensuite la route 66 est plus désertique, beaucoup plus sympathique à mon goût!
Hackeberry general store c'est avant Kingman!
JOUR 6 : VALLEY OF FIRE
Parc magnifique! Si possible faire la boucle des 7 merveilles, splendide😎, se conjugue avec Fire wave !
Fire wave Coucher de soleil environ à 19H30, départ à 18H : attention dans l'ombre bien avant le coucher du soleil!
JOUR 7 : OVERTON – SNOW CANYON – SPRINGDALE

Mince, nous partons deux jours avant 😕
Nous allons atterrir le 26 juillet à Las Vegas. Le soir-même, nous dormirons à Overton et, le lendemain, à l'aube, nous irons à Valley of Fire SP pour continuer d'explorer ce magnifique parc qui faisait partie de nos coups de coeur lors de notre circuit de l'été 2013.
Dommage, nous dormirons le 24/07 au soir à Overton et ferons VOF au sunrise le 25/07 !!

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏

Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

We’ll be alternating between house swaps, motels, and campgrounds. I’ve booked all the accommodations (except the campground at Bryce since sunset bookings open only 14 days in advance) and the first activities, as well as the most touristy ones.

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:

- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

We just finished 9 days in the American West and wanted to share our experience because we had an amazing time.
I know some of you might ask, why use an agency? Honestly, we didn’t really feel like doing all the driving and planning, especially since we didn’t know the area at all. And since our English isn’t great, having French-speaking guides was a big comfort.
We found Emmanuelle and Isabelle, and wow, they were fantastic. It was just the two of us with them, so it was a truly VIP, ultra-personalized experience. We loved it so much that we’re already planning to come back next year to explore other areas with them. I think we’ve caught the American West bug—it’s all we can think about, and we can’t wait to return.
