No worries, I’ll wait while reading you 😄

The natural setting is actually quite pleasant, and as we walk along, we wonder about this flock of turkeys roaming freely inside the enclosure with a group of scrawny roosters.

From the photos, it looks like they're guinea fowl, not turkeys ;)

There was one guy who rode me about this for months on VF. Same with another one about the story of durians or jackfruit. They would’ve been better off publishing travel journals instead of having nothing else to say about mine. Much later, I remembered that as a kid, I spent Thursdays and then Wednesdays at my grandparents’ place. My grandma would walk me to the Coop to do the shopping, and we’d pass by a house where a huge turkey stood guard like a watchdog. And he wasn’t easygoing. Since he was almost as tall as I was back then, I kept as far away as possible from that gate. That’s when my mistake about turkeys became unforgivable.

For example, next to the steps leading up to the temple, you often see a representation of one animal trying to devour another. Actually, one is the incarnation of Myanmar, the other of Siam. This would be the image of the impossibility for the Burmese, despite their repeated attacks, to subdue the Kingdom of Siam.

Hmm... That's what your young guide told you... They're all quite amusing and cheeky, twisting legends or religious symbols to their liking and advantage—symbols whose meanings they probably don’t even know themselves. You find the exact same kind of statue and animals devouring each other on the steps of many Hindu temples in southern India. I knew the meaning once but forgot it. It’s Asian mythology that has nothing to do with Siam and Myanmar ;) And Indian guides, and even some monks, are often stumped by our questions because they don’t know the answer themselves

What luck to come across a reliable and enthusiastic person during a trip! These two days with Phason were worth a month of organized travel. We’ll recommend him if we get the chance and we definitely plan to see him again, that great guy!
