Hi there, I’m the kind of person who just presses the right button on the camera. Telling you how it works is beyond my skills— all I know is it’s got an insane built-in zoom. Some of the photos were taken by a more pro buddy of mine, and he edits them afterward.

Put yourself in their shoes Roarhjulie that’s scary!

Or maybe it’s the smell 😄 Okay, I’m out… nah, I’m staying, this travel journal is too good! 👍

My spots around Shingwedzi... Nothing really new if you've got the famous booklet. The green route with the S56 following the river and a bathroom break at Balalala.

An elephant digging a hole in the dry riverbed... And it finds water! Super important for all the animals that also get to drink!

Further north, the Tropic of Capricorn.

Another spot, the Orange Route S52

Stroke of luck! Lions... 8, females and cubs... Gorgeous spot, 3 cars, loads of lions, for ages... And to think I almost did the loop the other way at first... You hit the jackpot at a bend in the road or you miss everything!

Lions in the KNP...

I’m still super jealous when I see so many majestic lions on the roads and trails of Kruger on social media... Personally, I’m kinda unlucky... This year, these ones above and another one that was a bit fleeting

No selfie? That’s a bummer :P

No selfie? That’s disappointing 😏

We totally agree! 😄

Watch out—there’s a trap with the location! 😅

Isn’t it in Namibia?

It was in Namibia It was there... about twenty years ago

Oh man, that trick obviously couldn’t work on African travel experts 😄👍

It’s actually in Namibia, on the C14 between Walvis Bay and Mariental

The other spot—more fleeting and crowded

And since you’ve been good

This time near Mopani on the S42

A herd of buffalo

And others

Next up is Letaba...

It’s not my favorite.

We continue (let’s not forget that in this part of Kruger there are three trips)

This one deserves its own post

And we continue

Very fleeting lions in 2023

Satara Orpen

Satara and its surrounding area are famous for lions, just like Orpen (vast grassy plains).

Orpen is a very small camp at the entrance to Kruger (the ugliest of the entrances).

So, photos... of cheetahs, makes sense!

And...

The hornbill (ground hornbill)

A favorite species for South Africa travelers. Usually on the ground, but you can spot them in the trees too. Some are tagged. A collaborative program encourages sending photos and locations.

The magical triangle!

It's not about football, but the southern part of KNP starting from Tshokwane.

Skukuza - Lower Sabie - Berg-en-Dal.

Skukuza, a very large camp with an airstrip, a golf course open to wildlife, two big restaurants (one in a steam train), a luxury hotel, and an even more luxurious lodge in a train on the bridge over the river... It's a spot where wildlife can be very generous. Not really for us, though...

You actually saw wild dogs—that’s not common!
