Hi there, I’m looking for recent info on a boat trip with sleeping accommodations from Belém to Santarém. I don’t want a "luxury cruise for wealthy tourists"—just a bed with a minimum of comfort seems great to me🙂. I didn’t find any up-to-date details with Amazon Star. Do you have any companies, guides, or prices for this route to recommend? I’d love to hear tips and feedback on this trip, especially since I’m traveling solo. I’d like to get a sense of what to expect and ensure some basic safety with transportation. Thanks.

hi, did you find anything? You should search Google for "viagem de navios Santarem Belem" On this site here you can apparently book (though you’ll need to read Portuguese) Apparently a cabin costs R$1000 for the Manaus–Santarém route, which is about 428 €—that’s still pretty expensive 🙁

hi, thanks for the info, yeah it’s actually pretty expensive, won’t be for me 😉 I’ll try to find another way; thanks again and take care

Good evening, happy to help! It’s a shame to give up on such a trip because you can get to know people once you’re on board. However, you’ll need to speak a little Portuguese.

Hi there, do you specifically want to do the Belém → Santarém route, or are you just looking to take a short cruise on the Amazon? Is leaving from Belém a must, or could you start somewhere else?

Good evening, with pleasure. It’s a shame to give up on such a trip because you can get to know people once on board. However, you do need to speak a little Portuguese.

Hello, I managed to get more info—it seems you can do the trip by boat for less by staying on deck with a hammock, a very common way for Brazilians to travel. I’ll go with that option and figure things out once I’m there. Thanks and have a great day!

Hey, it's really nice to stay on deck. That's what I did for the Porto Velho to Manaus trip. Just be careful with your belongings, or ask someone you trust to keep an eye on them.

Hi there, Whether it's a luxury cruise or a hammock on a ship's deck, from Belém to Santarém you're going *up* the river, not down it 😅

If you're taking the hammock route, the only advice I can give you is to arrive at least 3 hours before departure to secure a good spot for your hammock. Because on this route, the boats are often packed, and you're usually squished together...
