Je pars aux Etats-Unis à Lexington pour étudier un MBA sur 11 mois à partir du 3 juillet prochain. Je galère à trouver comment y aller, car
- Mes contraintes de temps sont juste: voyager entre le 1 et 2 juillet (avant je finis mon demenagement)
- Payer pas cher
- Je ne connais pas encore mes dates de vacances de Noël et souhaite acheter un simple AS
Stratégie pour trouver un vol
Pour ne pas payer cher, je pensais prendre un charter Paris/NY ou Paris/Atlanta puis prendrez un vol intérieur. Le problème est de trouver une compagnie qui dessert l'aéroport de Lexington dans la mesure où peu d'avions dessevent la ville. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Grass_Airport). Sinon le cas échéant, que me suggérez vous? Me poser à NYC ou à Chicago? Puis prendre un bus Greyhound ou louer une voiture? A moins que la notion de train existe aux Etats-Unis?
Choix de la compagnie aérienne
Quand au compagnies, quelles compagnies charter existent sur le transatlantique? J'ai testé prixdesvoyages.com, virgin atlantic ou aer lingus, connaissez vous quelque chose d'autre? J'ai vu que des compagnies bradaient leurs invendus au dernier moment (exemple: 208€ un AR Bruxelles/Cancun), mieux vaut attendre le dernier moment ou réserver as soon as possible? J'avais pensé aussi à passer via un TO, enfin si vous avez quelques idées...
Mes 2 critères principaux sont le prix (cela ne me dérange pas de voyager debout s'il le faut, bien au contraire: plus on est tassé, plus mon empreinte écologique diminue) et la sécurité (je préfère payer 100€ de plus pour une compagnie sûre que gagner 100€ pour une poubelle volante)
Je souhaiterais également savoir si vous connaissez des compagnies qui proposent des AS qui ne coutent pas le double d'un AR, ou si je dois attendre de connaitre mes dates pour booker le retour...

Je viens de passer l'année scolaire au Kentucky aussi... Mais à Bowling Green (western kentucky university) et c'est à 1h de Nashville, j'ai donc pris un billet Lyon-Nashville, mais aller-retour, vu le prix des aller simple, avec une date au hasard en mai pour rentrer, et l'agence de voyage m'a expliqué que vu que les vols n'étaient pas encore prévu à cette époque (vu que je l'avait pris plus d'un an à l'avance), je pourrai changer gratuitement la date, ce que j'ai fait. (avec KLM)
Sinon certains de mes amis on juste pris un vol AR Lyon-NYC, qui ne coute pas trés cher et on rajouté le vol interieur pour rentrer, mais quand ils sont arrivé ils ont loué une voiture et ont fait un road trip...
Enfin voilà, en tout cas je pense que l'aller simple c'est pas la bonne solution, c'est presque toujours 2 fois plus cher que un AR..
Le train existe un peu, à voir si il ya une gare à Lexington. Le Greyhound c'est faisable aussi, NYC-Lexington ça doit mettre environ 24h il me semble.
Et aussi, tu pars pendant les vacances scolaires, donc ils ne vont pas brader les prix, au contraire...

Il y a une gare à Lexington? Sinon oui le greyhound fait le trajet c'est pas cxher (50 ou 60 dollars je crois NYC - Lexington) mais niveau timing ca va etre chaud... Et ca doit etre reellement mortel 24h de bus...

En fait les vols sont disponible seulement 335 jours à l'avance ou un truc du genre donc tu peux réserver et ensuite changer gratuitement vu que ce n'était pas disponible quand tu as fait ta réservation. Je pense que ça vaut pour toutes les compagnies...
Je viens de regarder sur ça http://www.easyvols.fr, un AR Paris NYC, départ en juillet et retour en mai 2011 n'est pas disponible encore, mais avec le retour en avril c'est dans les 700€... Mes amis avaient payé dans ces eaux là je pense...
Sinon, Lexington c'est pas bien loin de Cinncinati (Ohio) qui est une grande ville donc il y a un aéroport pas mal desservi, regarde avec cette ville pour les vols interieurs (aux usa, les vols interieurs en AS ne sont pas trés cher si tu prends un minimum à l'avance). Aprés tu peux prendre le bus pour aller à Lexington. Sinon regarde Paris-Cinncinati.
Enfinc 'est sur que c'est la galère pour aller au Kentucky deuis l'Europe et ça coute assez cher, surtout pendant les vacances scolaires!
Sinon oui le Kentucky c'est bien cool!! Leur accent est horrible au début, la bouffe immonde mais bon, on s'y fait!!
