Hi there, I’m planning a winter trip across India. Departing in early December and returning to France in mid-April. My main concern is finding an airline that offers this round-trip with the fewest hassles regarding cancellations or flight schedule changes. The unstable geopolitical situation in the Middle East isn’t making this search any easier—recent reviews online about airlines from Gulf states describe quite a few struggles over the past few months. The direct Paris-Delhi round-trip flights offered by Air France or Air India are probably the safest options, but not the cheapest! Given this uncertainty, I’m still holding off on finalizing my ticket purchase... Maybe some of you India lovers on VoyageForum have tips or experiences to share? Thanks, and happy travels to all.

We’re heading to Sri Lanka for 23 days in January 2027—there are four of us—and we’ll wrap up the trip with 5 days in Mumbai. Our itinerary is coming together, but what do you think? (We can’t change the dates since our flights are already booked.)

We still have one night to slot in, and I’ve tentatively planned it in Tangalle, though it was a bit random. Would it make more sense to place it at a different stop? Or is there an intermediate stop I might be missing?

I’ve got accommodations sorted everywhere except Mumbai—it’s a nightmare (either way too expensive or really dodgy). By default, we’ve spotted the Residency Hotel Fort, but 70 € a night (with a discount) for a hotel that doesn’t offer anything special in India?!

I’m heading to Kerala in December. I’ve been searching without luck for air-conditioned buses, minivans—basically anything that’s not a bus without AC or windows, since my route from Cochin to Munnar is gonna be a long one and I don’t wanna struggle.

I checked around, and it’s crazy—you can’t find the name of a single private company, just overpriced transfers!

From what I can tell, it seems like there’s nothing but local buses… yet I went to Sri Lanka two years ago and there were plenty of options.

The info I’ve gathered from here and there—pretty unreliable!—suggests it’s impossible to get this permit in Assam (Guwahati) and that it takes about 15 days if you go through an agency (but where are these agencies located???). I need help creating my IRCTC account. I tried to create an account via the website (not the app), but I’m not receiving any OTP at my email address. It asks me to verify my OTP to confirm registration, but I’ve tried multiple emails and checked spam, trash, etc.—nothing. I’m not getting any OTP at all.

What should I do now?

I want to take the train from Delhi to Agra Cantt. What are my options without an IRCTC account? I have a trip from New Delhi to Agra and another from Agra to Jaipur.

FYI: I’d prefer to avoid the bus since it doesn’t seem to stop, and I don’t feel comfortable jumping off a moving bus. Too risky for my taste.

Atteints par le virus "Inde" depuis notre premier voyage en 2013 , (seulement😮 ! ), nous y revoilà pour un 8° séjour ( du 14 au 28 janvier 2020). Cette fois-ci notre périple nous amènera de Calcutta à Varanasi en passant par des petits villages du Westbengal et par Bodhgaya.. Nous prendrons ensuite notre vol de retour de Delhi à Nice .

Je me lance enfin pour rédiger mon premier cahier de voyage en remerciant aux passage tous ceux et celles qui ont alimenté ce forum en postant carnets, photos et commentaires, fort utiles à la préparation d'un voyage. Je demande d'avance un peu d'indulgence concernant ce récit, où quelques fautes vont peut-être s'immiscer par ci par là car, même si je vis en France depuis longtemps, ma langue maternelle reste l'allemand. Vous voilà prévenus 🙂!

Notre séjour débute à Kolkata ou nous resterons 2 jours entiers. Nous logeons dans un petit hôtel de College street . Le personnel est très sympathique et très serviable, notre chambre très propre, que demander de plus? Certes , c'est bruyant côté rue mais l'avantage d'un petit balcon nous permet d'observer tout le trafic d'en bas. Celui -ci ne s'arrête guère même pendant la nuit...Ceci dit, nous dormons très bien, le voyage a été long !

Nous sommes rentrés d'Inde la semaine dernière avec une grosse surprise en fin de voyage avec notre chauffeur.

Nous sommes restés 28 jours avec lui à faire un tour complet du Rajasthan. Nous sommes passés par une agence de Delhi pour trouver ce chauffeur et nous avons strictement suivi l'itinéraire que nous avions prévu nous-mêmes avant d'arriver. Tout nous semblait bien se passer pendant ce circuit.

Puis est arrivé le dernier jour et le moment crucial du pourboire. Comme c'était notre premier voyage de ce type, nous nous étions renseignés sur internet pour savoir combien il était d'usage et raisonnable de donner. D'après les informations que nous avions pu trouver, nous avons décidé de donner 10 % du montant total payé à l'agence (46 euros par jour). Et là, énorme déception et colère (contenue) de notre chauffeur qui n'a pas pu se retenir, tout de même, de nous dire que ce montant était ridiculement bas par rapport à ce qu'il espérait.

Nous en sommes restés là, déçus lui comme nous de cette fin d'aventure en nous posant beaucoup de questions auxquelles nous n'avons pas de réponses.

Quelqu'un pourrait-il nous dire si 10 % vous semble correct ?
