Pourquoi ne pas utiliser la dénomination politiquement correcte (là, je me surprends moi-même) et de plus en plus utilisée de "Quasi-continent indien" ?

"US to provide military equipment to Nepal
Visiting US Ambassador-at-large J Cofer Black has said Nepal is likely to get some military equipment from the US government.
Black who is also the head of the counter-terrorism body of the State Department, said during an interaction with journalists on Wednesday that the US is mulling to assist Nepal in its fight against Maoist insurgency. “The process to deliver some military hardware is in the pipeline, ” Black said.
He informed that the United States might also offer help in order to bolster the intelligence system of the Royal Nepalese Army.
Black was of the view that Maoist activities have gone up in recent times so have the human rights violations. Asked whether the Al-Qaeda (an international terrorist outfit) is rubbing shoulder with Maoists to unleash terror in the region, Black said he had no information regarding this. “We do not have any report on that, ” he clarified. He however said the Maoists have good rapport with extremist communist outfits in the South Asian region.
He made it known that he has held discussions with heads of security bodies and other high-ranking government officials on a variety of issues, including the Maoist problem.

de pays et lieux peu visités, hors sentiers battus,
insolites et inconnus. J’entends par là toute
destination, proche ou lointaine où les
infrastructures, voire les guides touristiques, sont
peu présents ou inexistants, où la chance de croiser
des compatriotes en «touropérator» est faible. Cela
peut concerner aussi bien des villes, régions,
appartenant eux-mêmes à des pays dit ‘touristiques’.
Si vous pensez avoir voyagé de la sorte et si vous
avez un travail photographique conséquent, avec un

Une réponse à une question qui n'est pas posée :
L'obtention d'un visa pour l'Afghanistan est encore un casse-tête. La plupart des ambassades demandent une lettre d'accreditation ou un ordre de mission que les touristes bien sûr n'ont pas. D'après plusieurs témoignages Ankara serait la meilleure place pour l'obtenir ( visa délivré le jour même sans lettre d'accreditation ). Tashkent et Peshawar le délivreraient aussi sans formalité particulière.
Je viens d'obtenir le mien de l'ambassade d'Afghanistan à Paris. A défaut de lettre d'accreditation il faut joindre à la demande de visa une lettre de motivation à l'adresse de l'ambassadeur.

15 days in Turkey with family: Is this itinerary doable?

About a month ago, I posted a potential itinerary for Bulgaria and Istanbul, but in the end, since we found some relatively cheap flight tickets to Istanbul, we decided to go for a trip to Turkey instead.
When? 2 weeks, late August (14th to 29th) Who? Dad, mom, a 17-year-old teen, and an 11-year-old child
Here’s our plan: do you think it’s doable? Any practical tips?
We start with 4 full days in Istanbul (5 nights) Then, we rent a car and head to Ephesus. We stay there for 1 day (2 nights) After that, we drive to Kaş. We stay there for 4 full days (5 nights), enough time to relax a bit, see Kaputaş Beach and Kekova, the site of Myra, the site of Patara, and possibly the site of Çıralı/Olympos—even though it’s a bit far—and Saklıkent Gorge. From Kaş, we spend 2 nights near Denizli to see Pamukkale and Aphrodisias. Is it possible to visit both sites in the same day? Then, we travel from Pamukkale back to Istanbul, return the car, and spend one last night in Istanbul.

Ladakh: Is it possible to sleep near Hanle? (India)

I’ve browsed this forum a lot about Ladakh and haven’t found answers to my questions... so here’s my post.
I’m heading there next July with a friend for a solid ten days of cycling (no e-bikes) in Ladakh. The flight to Leh is booked for both of us and our bikes.
I’ve got my route planned out pretty precisely; the main goal is to climb Umling La, which is currently the world’s highest motorable road at 5,798 m. We’re also planning to tackle 3 or 4 other passes over 5,000 m, including Photila, just next door at a little over 5,500 m.
I’ve read accounts from Europeans saying it’s impossible for foreigners to spend a night in Hanle... that the closest accommodation to the Chinese border would be in Nyoma. What do you think about that?
Also, some say the road between Hanle and Chushul (the one via Tsaga) is off-limits to non-Indians... Is the parallel route, the one via Mahé and Kaksang La (5,400 m), open to foreigners?
Is the road along Pangong Lake (the one through Merak and Man) also off-limits to foreigners?

Tajikistan/Kyrgyzstan border via the Kyzyl-Art Pass
Hi there,
My departure is slowly approaching, and now that I’ve got my Russian visa sorted, I’m fine-tuning the rest of my trip to Tajikistan. Since the Tajik visa is no longer required for stays under 30 days (for French nationals), I’ll need to visit the Ministry of Interior (OVIR) to register within 10 days of entering the country. No big deal, though, since I had to go there anyway to apply for my GBAO permit. 😉 However, I’ve *seen* several reports from travelers (mostly motorized) mentioning that you need an entry permit for Kyrgyzstan, which has to be arranged in advance at the Kyrgyz Ministry (consulate?) in Dushanbe. Otherwise, you’re *stuck* at the Kyzyl-Art border (with no Wi-Fi, of course, to try and sort it out). The most recent report was from a year ago, so I’d love to know if this is still the case and if it’s indeed at the Kyrgyz Ministry (consulate?) where you need to go for this pre-authorization.
Does anyone have any recent info on this?

I had fun compiling in one place ALL the routes my partner and I have biked across the planet since 1996: Quebec far and wide, of course, but also Canada, the USA (crossed completely by bike 3 times), Mexico, and all the way to Ushuaia—basically the entire Americas.
In Europe, the Balkans, Turkey; and more recently (2024: Taiwan, Korea, and 4 months in Japan!) You can check out a global map with all the routes by continent, more detailed maps by country, and others that focus on a region, like the Balkans in Eastern Europe. In short, there’s something for everyone!
I’ve included 3 photos here, but the originals (via the link above) let you zoom in infinitely. Plus, many of my routes are represented by lines with a different color for each day of biking. Hope some of you enjoy browsing through all this as much as I enjoyed compiling it. Until the snow comes, skiing... and spring!

I’m starting to think about a trip that’s really close to my heart: Algeria by motorcycle, specifically the southern part of the country. It’d be for January 2025, and I’ve got two main questions:
Is it possible for an individual on a motorcycle to travel freely, outside of any organized tour, or does the regulation require some kind of supervision in the Algerian Sahara region?
Is the Hoggar massif accessible by road or by (rideable) tracks?
Beyond the official recommendations, I’m really looking for your firsthand experiences. Thanks so much for your answers, and sorry if my questions are a bit newbie!

Comment passer du sud au nord au panama, parce qu'il n'y a pas de route
quelle est la route la plus courte (avion ou bateau) entre l'alaska et la russie (voire canada russie)
Quelle société de fret est selon vous la meilleure pour organiser les transports
allez, c'est cadeau, quels sont, selon vous, les lieux immanquables sur la route ? sachant que ma route n'est pas encore vraiment définie, donc c'est assez vaste, mais ça peut aider à définir tel ou tel point de passage

Rejoindre la Chine en passant par le Kazakhstan en camping-car
Bonjour, j'aimerai savoir si des personnes sont parties en camping-car en passant par le KAZAKHSTAN pour rejoindre la Chine (je ne veux pas passer par l'IRAN etc) , la Thailande Cambodge Vietnam, Singapour après avoir traversé l'Europe avec des haltes tout au long du voyage . Pouvez-vous me faire part de votre expérience, si c'est réalisable etc. surtout pour la partie sortie de l'Europe ver le KAZAKSTAN etc.. je prévois ce voyage sur au minimum 1 an en Asie pour pouvoir bien en profiter et au total 2 voir 3 ans voir plus.. suivant où le vent nous mènera mon mari et moi..😉 . (ce projet est pour dans quelques années.)

Séjour à l'île Rodrigues et prix du vol depuis Paris

En octobre 2021, je compte aller sur l'île Rodrigues pendant 3 semaines. je ne parvenais pas à me décider sur quelle île aller en Polynésie et deux camarades m'ont incité à aller à Rodrigues.
J'ai trouvé un hébergement, un bungalow situé à Graviers, dans l'est de Rodrigues là où se trouvent les plus belles plages.
En demi pension, l'hébergement est à 50 euros/jour.
J'ai fait une simulation avec air mauritus (je ne sais pas si la compagnie va pouvoir se relever) pour Paris-Rodrigues. Le vol coûte environ 1200 euros A/R. Cela vous semble t-il correct ?

Je reviens de deux semaines au Soudan . Voyage organisé avec l'agence locale Raidan en 4/4 climatisé à 4 personnes . 980 €/personne pour 13 jours . Auquel il faut rajouter le billet d'avion Turkish Airlines et les frais de visas . Sur place , j'ai changé seulement 50 € ( petits frais et pourboire du chauffeur ) .
Si vous aimez le désert et l'archéologie, foncez ! Le luxe suprême de visiter des sites magnifiques en étant..... .seuls !
Aucune insécurité au Nord de Khartoum , exceptionnelle gentillesse des habitants , on se promène partout en toute tranquillité.
Nous avons été très satisfaites de l'agence Raidan . Suite à. un problème d'avion , on est arrivées au Soudan avec un jour de retard et sans demande de notre part , ni supplément, ils ont reporté hôtel et visites sur le dernier jour libre supplementaire qu'on avait ajoute au programme !

Bonjour. Je part dans le Tamil Nadu en mars. Je pensais prendre des bonbons Caramélisées pour offrir aux enfants. Ici en Belgique, il y a une marque réputée " Werther ". Est-ce une bonne idée. Pensez vous que je puisse en offrir aux Bramanes quand je vais au temple ? Je n'ai jamais essayé jusqu'à présent 🏴☠️🤔

grosso modo, de nos jours, environs 2% de la population iranienne est nomad; IL y a un siècle, c'était environ 25% et ainsi, le mode de vie nomade est une partie importante de la culture iranienne. malheureusement, ces 2% vont s'éteindre dans quelques années. il existe différentes tribus de nomades tels que Qhashqaii, Bakhtiari et ainsi de suite, qui sont dispersés dans tout l'Iran; dépendant des saisons (en fait de la météo), ils changent constamment de lieu. mais la plupart des nomades vivent dans le centre de Zagros (chaînes de montagnes de Zagros) où la nature nourrit leur bétail (le bétail est la principale source de revenus). ce sont les endroits où personnellement j'ai rencontré des nomades: au pied de la montagne Sahand ... ( au sud de Tabriz), koohrang ( aux alentours de Shahr-e Kord, Gachsaran (au sud-ouest de Shiraz), Eqlid ( au nord de Shiraz), Qaleh Babak ( au nord-ouest de Tabriz ), Nahawand (au sud d'Hamadan), Firuz Abad ( au sud de Shiraz)...
