hello I’m looking for advice for a last-minute trip—about 3 weeks (half Montenegro, half Croatia). I’m traveling solo, backpacker style (low budget, hostels). I’m 40 and love exploring cool spots—cities, beaches, mountains, sports activities, you name it.

I’m torn between renting a car or just going with the flow using buses once I’m there. A car would definitely be more convenient, but it might be pricier—plus, parking (is it paid?) and having to return it to the same place. My plan is to start in Montenegro (flying into Podgorica or Albania) and finish in Croatia, so I’d either need to do short-term rentals per country or one-way.

In Montenegro, here are the spots I’ve noted: - Ulcinj and Velika Plaža beach - A side trip to Lake Skadar and Virpazar - Budva, Sveti Stefan, and Petrovac - Cetinje and Lovćen National Park - Kotor / Perast - Žabljak and Durmitor National Park + rafting in the Tara Canyon Is 8–10 days enough?

And in Croatia, I’ve got: - Dubrovnik - Korčula - Hvar - Split + Trogir and Krka National Park - Zadar - Plitvice Lakes National Park - Croatian Istria / Rovinj / Pula - Zagreb Around 10–12 days.

We’ll be alternating between house swaps, motels, and campgrounds. I’ve booked all the accommodations (except the campground at Bryce since sunset bookings open only 14 days in advance) and the first activities, as well as the most touristy ones.

hi everyone, here’s the thing I just made a hotel reservation on Agoda through Kayak

I found an interesting hotel in Krabi—booking directly through Agoda was 160 € per night, but when I searched the same hotel and dates on Kayak, it showed 136 € per night... So I went with that option via Kayak, and I landed on Agoda with the original price of 160 € crossed out and the new price at 136 €. I completed the payment and instantly received an email from Agoda confirming the booking.

But why such a discount? I’ve got quite a few more bookings to make, and they’re all cheaper through Kayak. I’ve seen negative reviews about Kayak, but only for flights. Plus, at the bottom of Agoda’s site, it says Kayak and Agoda are partners.

I’d love to know if anyone else has used this method and if they had any bad surprises... Like the site canceling the reservation last minute or the price suddenly going up.

I’m planning a solo trip from April 16th to June 2nd!

I have to work for 3 weeks in Papeete when I arrive in French Polynesia, so I can only explore on the weekends (3-day weekends). For my first weekend, I’ll visit Tahiti; my second weekend will be dedicated to Moorea, and the last weekend to Huahine.

After my work period, I’ll continue with my vacation and keep exploring:

Maupiti - 4 nights

Raiatea - 3 nights (including a day trip to Tahaa)

Bora Bora - 3 nights

Rangiroa - 4 nights (could do 3)

Tikehau - 2 nights (could do 3)

Fakarava - 3 nights

For activities, I’m mostly interested in discovering the islands, hiking, and observing wildlife.

I’m not a diver, but I plan to do a beginner’s dive once I’m there. I love snorkeling, though, and I’m wondering if I’m spending too much time in the Tuamotus, which are famous for diving from what I’ve seen.

For travel between the islands, I’ve already looked into the Bora Tuamotu Max pass, which seems like the best option, but I’d love advice on replacing it with one or more ferries.

What do you think? I’m struggling to finalize my itinerary.

I want to start in Las Vegas, revisit Monument Valley, and head toward Dallas, stopping in Albuquerque and other cool spots along the way. The road is apparently closed??) night in Sedona M22: Sedona, night in Sedona M23: Depart for GC, visit GC, night in GC (no accommodation booked yet, same goes for the following visits) J24: Drive to MV, visit MV, night in Mexican Hat or? V25: End of MV, drive to Page, night in Page S26: Page—Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Lake Powell, night in Page D27: Drive to Bryce, visit Bryce, night? L28: End of Bryce, depart for Zion (I’m wondering if it’s worth visiting Zion at the end of April—since the park is at high altitude, is there a risk of snow? Temperatures?) If we skip Zion, could we plan 2 days for Arches before heading to Bryce? Night in Springdale if Zion, otherwise drive to Valley of Fire, night? M29: Valley of Fire, then drive to LV, night in LV M30: Morning in LV, then drive to Death Valley, night in Furnace Creek? Actually, we’re on a rhythm of 1 transfer day and 2 visit days, which doesn’t fully satisfy us. That’s why we’re wondering: Is it possible to stay in one accommodation for visits to Cai Be, Binh Island, and Vinh Long (including our day trip to Sa Dec)? Hi there, I know these aren’t the most popular destinations on the forum, but I thought I’d give it a shot. I’d love to do a road trip loop next April, and I really want to visit Nashville and Memphis first. Browsing the forum, I saw that Atlanta / Memphis / Nashville / Charlotte / Charleston / Savannah / Atlanta might be a good route. But I’m only planning to go for 14 days, and it seems like that might be too much. What do you think? I mostly want to enjoy the music scene in the area and pass through the Smoky Mountains. I know I won’t have much time to stop for hiking, but oh well... I’m saving Louisiana and New Orleans for another trip. Thanks to anyone who can help me map out my route and make the most of this part of the U.S. that I don’t know at all yet.

For her 70th birthday, my mom will receive—as a gift—a trip to South Africa at the end of May 2025. We’ll arrive and depart (13 nights later) from JNB on Air France AF990/AF995. We’ll obviously rent a car for certain parts of the trip. I’ve been to the Cape Town area and as far as Agulhas twice, but she’s never been to South Africa before. She might enjoy a day or two of safari, but it’s not a priority for her. I’m well aware that trying to pack in too much is risky, which is why I’m looking for your advice on itineraries, safety, and health (status of the Marburg virus). So far, which combinations of these visits (in no particular order) would be doable and most enjoyable for her at a reasonable pace:

1-day excursion to Pilanesberg Park (+ Hartbeespoort on the way back if possible), self-drive or with a tour guide? 2 nights around the Panorama Route self-driving Garden Route from/to George/PLZ for 5 nights (what are the must-sees for a first-timer with so little time?) Wine region for 2 nights (is it worth doing both the Stellenbosch bus tour and the Franschhoek Wine Tram the next day, or vice versa)—she loves good wine! Cape Town for 2 nights (is it worth stopping at the Cape of Good Hope if—only if—you’ve maybe already been to Agulhas?).

This would give a final itinerary like this:

Day 1: Morning arrival in JNB—rest day/to be defined Day 2: Guided game drive excursion to Pilanesberg Park Day 3: Flight JNB–Port Elizabeth, pick up rental car, drive to Tsitsikamma Day 4–6: Garden Route: activities to be defined Day 7: Transfer to Franschhoek: Wine Tram in the afternoon Day 8: Taxi to Stellenbosch for the Vine Hopper bus tour Day 9–11: Transfer to Cape Town: activities to be defined Day 12: Flight from Cape Town to Hoedspruit or Nelspruit Day 13: Visit the Panorama Route Day 14: Flight from Hoedspruit or Nelspruit to JNB, then evening flight back to France

Given the time spent on the Garden Route, what are the must-sees? Same question for the Panorama Route? In general, she prefers beautiful walks with incredible landscapes/views and cultural visits over big cats, but it would be a shame not to see some local wildlife like meerkats, whales (I doubt it in May), or penguins during her stay! Bonjour à tous, et déjà merci pour ceux qui feront l'effort de lire et me renseigner. J'habite la rive sud de Montréal et pendant nos congés fin juillet nous avons 1 semaine du lundi au dimanche pour visiter la Gaspésie. Évidemment j'ai conscience que c'est court mais c'est mieux que rien Mes hôtels sont déjà programmé mais je n'ai pas vraiment organisé mes journées. C'est là que j'ai besoin de votre aide. Ma fille a deux ans, nos centres d'intérêt sont surtout, visite de beaux lieux, animaux, nature, plage, repos et découverte de lieux insolites.

Pour le moment mon plan est le suivant : Jour 1 départ de Montréal vers Kamouraska pour passer la nuit pas vraiment organisé cette partie de route mais j'autais aimé faire une visite éclair dans le parc de la Jacques Cartier. Jour 2 kamourska - sainte anne des monts prévue journe au parc du bic et nuit à St Anne Matane Jour 3 saine Anne des monts - gaspe visite à notre aise des villages sur la route et en fin d'après midi possible qu'on aille au parc du forillon

Jour 4 gaspe - Chandler direction roche percé - île bonaventure j'aurais aimé faire dans la journée une croisière ou qqch de pas intense physique en journée soirée prévu à chandler à nova lumina

Jour 5 direction carleton sur mer possible journée au bioparc pour ma fille

jour 6 direction direction Rimouski début de journée plage où aller quoi voir autour jour 7 départ pour le domicile

Est-ce qu'il y a des lieux qu'ils faut absolument voir et faisable avec un enfant de 2 ans ?

Des bons plans pour les croisières ou point de vue rando facile ? Des spécialités culinaires à tester absolument ? des bonnes adresses ?

Nous avons pour projet de partir 3 mois en avril, mai et juin avec nos deux enfants qui auront 6 ans et 3 ans. C'est encore un "projet" et nous bloquons vraiment sur l'itinéraire (qui me parait essentiel pour dessiner ce projet).

Bonjour à tous, j'aimerai faire un trek au Népal entre tumingtar et lukla en passant par le sherpani pass, et le mera la puis lukla en autonomie avec un ami. Pour les 3,4 jours d'autonomie en repas que nécessite ce trek, j'ai besoin de savoir quel carburant je prends, soit un réchaud essence ou un rechaud en gaz. J'aimerai donc savoir si il est possible de trouver de petites recharges de gaz à tumlingtar étant donné que normalement on ne peut transporter ce genre de bouteilles en avion.
