Je pars prochainement travailler en Chine, pour un an ou deux, mais, auparavant, je voudrais faire un mois de vélo au Vietnam. J'ai donc plusieurs questions à vous poser...

Alors, pas de pression, je ne compte pas faire 100 kms par jours, mais plutôt le nombre de kms qui me semblent possibles selon la forme du jour (entre 5 et 50 kms par jour)

Je ne suis pas une grande sportive, et je voulais savoir si une débutante pouvait s'atteler à un projet comme celui çi sans risquer de mourir essouflée au bout de 3 jours! 😛

Puis je acheter un vélo sur place, et à quel prix?

Je voulais savoir aussi si vous avez des idées de parcours au Vietnam, mais relativement faciles (les montagnes sont apparemment fort présentes là bas...) La côte est elle un parcours à envisager?

Dernière question: j'aurai avec moi mes sacs à dos pour 2 ans de vie (le départ en Chine sera direct) Sauriez vous si je peux entreposer le gros des bagages qqpart, pour pédaler léger? (je pense que j'aurai suffisamment de travail à économiser mon souffle, pour ne pas avoir, en plus, à morfler avec une charge de mulet!)

Bonjour, nous aimerions partir en Decembre avec un couple d'amis au soleil et à la mer avec 4 enfants de 1à 6 ans. Sans trop de décalage horaire, ni trop long de voyage et où on pourrait avoir chaud. Nous avions pensé à la republique Dominicaine, ou Cuba ou encore le Cap vert. Mais les complexes hoteliers ont l'air tellement imensses et impersonnels que ça m'effraie un peu. Neammoins, nous aimerions partir en formule tout inclus avec un club enfant pour en profiter pour faire un peu de voile . Bref, si vous connaissez un endroit en particulier qui reste à échelle humaine, ça m'interesserait vraiment! merci de vos réponses!

Je n'ai que 12 jours en Inde. Je sais que c'est speed et qu'il me faut choisir sérieux. Je veux aussi sortir des sentiers battus tout en voulant rencontrer une forme d'authenticité (je rêve !!!).

Je me demande si une escapade ayant comme thème le Gange n'est pas envisageable dans cette durée. Cela voudrait dire : partir de la source du Gange ou à défaut de Haridwar, puis Allahabad (est-ce intéressant?), puis Bénares, puis Calcutta.

J'attends des réactions à cette idée. Saugrenue ou non ? trop ambitieuse ? etc. Y a t-il d'autres lieux autour du Gange plus intéressants ?

Nous avons déjà prospecté 2 agences de voyage pour nous faire un "devis" mais ne sont pas d'accord entre elles sur le choix du "groupement" de compagnies (skyteam, oneworld ou staralliance), du moins on n'est pas satisfait. qq'un aurait-il une adresse d'agence (sur Paris) qui serait bon conseil ou mieux ...spécialisée. j'ai utiliser la fonction recherche du forum. je ne trouve pas. comment faites-vous pour évaluer le pourcentage des côtes que vous grimpez ? j'ai vu qu'il existe des compteurs kilométriques évolués qui font ça aussi. mais mais j'ai pas envie de dépenser une fortune. y'aurais pas des niveaux tous simples qui le font ? ou bien une astuce ?

je projette de partir 40 jours en bivoic avec un sac qui ne dépassse pas 10kg mais je oudrai ramener d'exellent souvenir alors numérique ou jettable?😐

Je pars avec mon amie en Thaïlande vers le 8 août jusqu'au 1er septembre...ce que nous avions vu de l'Indonésie nous a fait adorer l'Asie, l'an dernier... Pensez-vous qu'il est possible dans ce laps de temps de faire un saut dans un pays avoisinant (cambodge ou Malaisie, ou autre ?)..sachant que de toute façon, nous ne sommes pas trop plage...donc tout le côté plages de la Thaïlande nous n'avons pas l'intention de nous y éterniser, même si un saut pour s'y reposer ne fait pas de mal.... 😊D'habitude avec mon homme on part avec le sac à dos en Asie ou en Amérique du Sud, mais je n'ai pas tellement d'idées d'endroit où aller vu qu'en Aout je serais enceinte de 4 mois.

J'aimerais éviter tous les risques de palu, et toutes les infections par l'eau (hépatites, amibes...) et pourtant j'aimerais voyager hors d'Europe avec un minimum d'aventure. J'avais pensé au Magreb mais j'ai peur qu'il fasse vraiment trop chaud en Aout...

Pont-des charettes, (lieu inoubliable d'une enfance pieds nues dans le jardin)

J'avais quatre ou cinq ans peut être quand je découvris le plus bel endroit au monde : un endroit à nul autre pareil.

J'entrai la première fois dans ce lieu onirique par un passage secret, jalousement gardé par les herbes folles et les buissons.A vrai dire, seul un mince filet de lumière s'échappait de l'antre...Je m'y faufilais sans trop de difficultés ayant la taille d'un farfadet à cette époque.Une fois ce petit obstacle franchi, un monde de féerie, fleurant le bonheur, s'ouvrait à moi.

J'arrivais sur un terrain aménagé pour la pétanque, et oh! quelle joie, dans le prolongement de ce petit boulodrome, une balançoire était là, .. qui m'attendait près d'un vieux chêne.

Je continuai donc mon excursion allant de ravissements en ravissements, et optais pour une petite allée, dallée.

Celle-ci aboutissait à une terrasse ombragée, attenante à une agréable bâtisse en pierre, que le lierre enlaçait avec passion.Par terre, des petits points lumineux dansaient avec les fourmis; il s'agissait des rayons du soleil qui perçaient les feuilles de figuier de la tonnelle.

Un peu plus loin sur la gauche, il y avait un jardin de liliputiens, dont l'entrée était marquée par un arc en fer forgé.A l'ouest, entremêlés avec les ronces se trouvaient les framboisiers, et à l'est, une dizaine d'arbrisseaux abritaient de minuscules boules rouges-pareilles au décoration de noêl- : des groseilles.

Au milieu, .. des dalles, disposées en une ligne sinueuse, s'acheminaient vers un joli bassin, qui servait d'abreuvoir à tous les insectes du verger.

Vers le nord, on s'engouffrait dans des pins et des oliviers, qui préservaient du regard des intrus : le potager.

Un potager, où les tomates rougissantes fleurtaient avec la salade ; où les pommes de terre discutaient avec les radis, et où les haricots, les poireaux, les fraises et les abricots rivalisaient d'astuces pour attirer le jet d'eau bienfaiteur du jardinier.

Je le revois encore : sa silhouette dessinée par le soleil, son chapeau enfoncé sur la tête, le dos courbé, prodiguant amour et soin à ses fruits et légumes....Et lorsque venait l'heure du goûter, une voix chantante et rieuse nous appelait. Nous nous hâtions, sachant qu'une tarte à la rhubarbe, un clafoutis aux cerises ainsi qu'une orangeade nous attendaient.

Nous parcourions le potager latéralement pour ne pas manquer les coquelicots, pâquerettes, et coccinnelles qui peuplaient le champ. Nous traversions ensuite l'allée des cerisiers, où les perles écarlates faisaient le bonheur des piafs ; puis nous contemplions le figuier majestueux, alourdis par ses fruits mûrs, et enfin arrivions à l'angle de la maison où les lilas blancs et mauves parfumaient d'une odeur estivale la bâtisse et l'embellissai de couleurs pastels.

Cet endroit merveilleux, ... était le jardin de mes voisins... (à toi Louis)

Et pourtant maintenant, ayant grandit cet endroit, intacte dans ma mémoire....à subit le offenses du temps et la vie s'en échappe....gardons nos ptits coins de l'enfance dans le coeur! ...

Et oui, encore un post sur ces pays...😛 Dîtes moi, Si c'etait vous, que vous y passiez sept semaines, vous feriez quoi? le tour dans quel sens? Filer sur Angkor (la grosse depense ne sera plus a faire en fin de voyage🤪), remonter au Laos et redescendre en Tailande?... Ou bien l'inverse: Monter a Chang Mai, passer au Laos, redescendre au Cambodge?...

Une fois au nord du Laos, c'est possible de se faire une "rapide escapade" a la bais d'Along, ou y'a pas moyen? (evidement, en budget routard).

Nous comptons nous déplacer essentiellement à vélo, et proposer aux enfants des villages que nous traverserons une animation escalad'arbres. Non, nous ne sommes pas fous, nous n'en sommes pas à notre première expérience, rassurez-vous! * Quelqu'un pourrait-il nous aider à trouver des contacts avec des écoles, des orphelinats ou des institutions locales afin de leur proposer nos animations? Ou bien quelqu'un qui pourrait nous aider sur place? * Au niveau de notre itinéraire, il dépendra évidemment des différents contacts que nous obtiendrons, mais que pensez-vous de ce programme: Nous comptons partir de Lima en direction de Chimbote pour entrer dans la Cordillère blanche. Ensuite nous nous dirigerons vers Huaraz, Cuzco, le lac Titicaca, pour redescendre vers Nazca puis Lima. Evidemment, on fera pas tout à vélo, on alternera avec le bus. We still haven’t finalized our itinerary, and the extreme heat forecasted might really impact our plans. I’d love any advice on places where the heat might be a bit more bearable...

We’re arriving in Urgench and leaving from Tashkent. Generally, we only travel by bus, train, or group excursions—we don’t rent vehicles...

Originally, the plan was to visit Khiva, possibly head to Nukus for an excursion to the Aral Sea. I would’ve preferred a detour into Kazakhstan to Mangystau, but it seems either impossible or very complicated... Next, we’d head toward Tashkent, obviously stopping in Bukhara and Samarkand, with a possible stop in Nurata? Or maybe from Samarkand, a quick trip to Tajikistan in the mountains? From Tashkent, we could go to Chorvoq or the surrounding area, where it seems a little cooler, and do some hikes around Charvak Lake. I’m struggling to find solid info on Ugam-Chatkal National Park... What about the Ferghana Valley or Kokand, where the heat seems more intense? Then back to Tashkent.

If you’ve got any great tips, I’d really appreciate it!

Hello, We’re heading to Prague with so much excitement from June 10th to 20th. I’ve got three main questions for those who live there or have visited: - What are your thoughts on what to pack clothing-wise? What’s the weather usually like at this time of year? We’re a bit sensitive to the cold—we live way down in southern Andalusia and are used to the *calor* 😎... Should we pack rain gear? Are we likely to get a lot of rain (which we’re dreading a little, but we couldn’t choose other dates)? - I’ve seen there are "passes" for various attractions, museums, and sites, including one that’s valid for 10 days but costs a whopping 160 € per person—that’s an average of 16 € per day. Do you think it’s really worth it? We won’t be spending our days rushing between every indoor site; we also love wandering the streets and discovering things a bit "at random." If we do two paid visits a day, that’ll probably be the max... Can we make it worth the cost with that? Of course, we want to visit the castle and take a boat trip as a minimum. Are the sites included in these passes iconic, or are they more "minor" attractions? Does having the pass help us skip long lines? - Finally, a question about communication: I speak French, obviously, plus Spanish and English fluently, but very little German (haven’t practiced in ages), and no Russian or Czech at all. My husband knows a few words of Russian, but it’s "Cuban" Russian—about the same level as my current German 🙂 !! Can we still get by without too much trouble? I'm "finalizing" a trip with my adventurous family (wife + 3 kids aged 16, 14, and 8) for this Easter break in Thailand (we'll be there from 04/19 to 05/01).

I'm going through the site and wanted to thank you all for the tips and insights you share on the forum. They're really valuable. But boy, it's tough to sketch out an itinerary

Of course, my backpacking route might be debatable, but I'm trying to target this path to get a first taste of the country's different "facets" and keep everyone in the family happy 😛

For this first trip, we're sticking to the classics and planning to explore a different side of the Land of Smiles in the future:

- arrival in BKK at 4 PM on 04/19 ==> leaving the same day at 7 PM for Chiang Mai (I "hesitated" with the 5:30 PM flight but was worried we wouldn't have enough time to switch from British AW to Thai Airways + airport fees + baggage + customs, etc. )

- from 04/20 to 04/23 ==> Chiang Mai with the main highlights (we've picked: Doi Suthep, Wat Pha Lat, elephant sanctuary, Doi Inthanon, the old city, Wat Chedi, Wat Phra Singh).

==> For the elephant sanctuary: any recommendations? Morning or afternoon visit?

==> It might seem ambitious, but we're considering a day trip to Chiang Rai—though it's not a must. Yes, we know it means ~6 hours of travel in one day.

- direct flight on the morning of 04/24 to Krabi ==> Railay - Phang Nga ==> this part isn't finalized yet (we won't stay in Krabi).

For those who've been there, which part of the south would be best weather-wise during this period?

We'd stay in the south until 04/28 and take a 8 PM flight to BKK.

- BKK on 04/29, 04/30, and part of 05/01 before our flight to London at 11 PM.

We'll hit the must-see/classic spots there.

If you have time to share some insights, I'd really appreciate it.

This year, I’d love to spend a few days in Lisbon, probably in late May or early June. But with my budget being what it is, I’m looking for great tips to avoid wasting time once I’m there and risk missing out on hidden gems or unusual culinary specialties and/or quirky activities! I’m hoping to find a room in a local’s home where I can stay in a quiet neighborhood near the center, so I can get around without relying too much on public transport—my walking shoes are my best travel buddies. I’d love all your recommendations, especially for parks, small neighborhood markets, casual eateries for a quick bite, your favorite viewpoints to soak in the scenery (I’m bringing my travel journal to sketch my getaway in watercolors), events around traditional art and crafts, and so on. I’m planning a trip to Iceland for next July-August, with a car and tent, and I’m wondering about booking campsites. From your experience, is it necessary or even essential to book campsites in advance, or do you always manage to find a spot to pitch your tent?

We’ll also have the option to sleep in the car without pitching the tent. Does that give us the flexibility to stay outside a campsite for a night here and there?

Gosuslugi / Госуслуги is the Russian administrative portal. EBS / ЕБС is the unified biometric system.

Since 2025, foreigners (residents or not) must have a biometric profile in addition to a Gosuslugi profile to obtain SIM cards and open a bank account.

Administrative services are mostly centralized in MFCs, МФЦ (Multi-Functional Center), nicknamed "My Documents" Мои документы.

A non-resident foreigner can register with the pension fund, which provides a social security number, SNILS / СНИЛС. To do this, you must present your passport and a notarized translation at an MFC. The SNILS can be issued on the spot or within a maximum of five days. If not issued immediately, you receive a receipt, and the deadline is communicated by the administrative agent. You return to the MFC after the deadline to collect the certificate with the SNILS.

Once the SNILS is obtained, you revisit an MFC counter to register on the Gosuslugi portal. You must present your passport and notarized translation again, along with a phone number and email. The Gosuslugi portal authenticates users with three pieces of data: SNILS, email or phone number, and password. The agent creates the profile and completes the initial email and SMS confirmations on your phone.

After the Gosuslugi profile is active, you register on the biometric portal. If last year’s law centralization measures are fully implemented, you can do this at any MFC; otherwise, you go to a SBERBANK (or VTB) branch. Again, as always for foreigners, you must present your passport with its translation and show your open Gosuslugi profile on your phone. The employee records your voice (reading a series of numbers) and takes a photo of your face.

After that, you can go to a telecom agency to buy a SIM card. The staff will take your passport details with the translation and your Gosuslugi profile info. Then, they’ll take a photo with their webcam, which is verified by the online EBS biometric portal. However, procedures may vary depending on the provider (Megafon, MTS, Beeline), and some employees may not be familiar with the process.

Potential delays can be caused by network maintenance or slowdowns due to peaks in administrative activity.

I’ll illustrate this process as I experienced it in February and April 2025 in the next post. Just need to gather the photos I took on the spot.
