Je dois me rendre au sud de la Thaïlande, dans la zone frontalière avec la Malaisie.

Je voudrais savoir s'il est possible de faire un aller-retour en Malaisie - en moins d'une journée - juste de façon à renouveler mon autorisation de séjour en Thaïlande (période de trente jours).

C'est une "manoeuvre" légale qui se pratique à la frontière du Myanmar (Birmanie) au nord de la Thaïlande : entre Mae Saï et Takileik, pour être précis ...

Et cela ne coûte que 250 Baths à verser en Birmanie (Myanmar) pour pouvoir effectuer l'aller-retour, sur le pont ... L'autorisation d'entrée délivrée par la police thaïlandaise est gratuite (moins de trente jours).

Bref, j'aimerais savoir s'il existe un système analogue au poste de Sungaï Kolok - Frontière avec la Malaisie, au sud de Thaïlande.

Je crois savoir que cela ne fonctionne pas en ce qui concerne le Laos et le Cambodge. Pour ces deux pays, il faut obligatoirement "acheter" un visa à 15, 20 ou 30 $ ... aucune facilité particulière n'étant accordée.

C'est pas compliqué... Suffit de savoir quelques trucs... Ici, les moustiques attaquent au lever du jour et au coucher du soleil, c.a.d 2 heures à tout casser dans la journee. Il suffit de se refugier dans des batiments pendant ces 2 heures là. la nuit, simple moustiquaire, et c est tout bon Plus il y a de vent provenant de la mer, moins il y a de moustiques qui sont ainsi bloqués dans la foret. Attention, les anti-moustiques sont souvent peu recommandés pour les bébés du au produits qu'il y a dedans. ne pas porter de vetements sombres, les moustiques adorent porter un pantalon leger et un chemise a manche longue, en lin par exemple, le soir si vous vous etes baigné dans la mer et n'avez pas encore pris de douche, prenez en une. Lôdeur de l'eau de mer les attire. ne laisser AUCUN recipient à ciel ouvert avec de l'eau dedans dans la journée ni de flaques da'eau dans la douche. Les larves adorent. SI VOUS VOYEZ un tabano, genre grosse mouche beige/jaune, TUEZ LE. Je sai, c'est pas sympa, mais si vous etes piqué et un peu sensible, vous vous retrouverez avec une piqure enorme, style foulure de cheville, pendant 3 jours. laissez toujours les moustiquaires en place jusqu'à 9h00 du matin et a partir de 6 heures du soir.

Voilà, c'est tout simple... Ces précautions sont faciles à suivre et vous éviteront bien des désagréments.

Salut, quelqu'un peut il me renseigner sur les conditions climatiques en Birmanie en Juillet. Je sais que c'est la mousson mais j'ai lue qu'elle y était trés forte et que de nombreuses régions (sitwe, Pa-han) séraient inaccessibles. J'aimerais un avis de quelqu'un qui a tenté l'experience parce que pour avoir passé des mois de juillet et aout au Cambodge et Laos j'ai trouvé cela tout à fait faisable. C'est trés différent? Thursday, Oct 23. Left home at 8:25 AM, took the bus from St Cyp to Perpignan, then a BlaBlaBus to Barcelona airport. Last night, a huge storm crossed France, and the bus was an hour late. We finally left at 11 AM. At the Spanish border, we were checked—several Africans were traveling on the bus, and their document verification took quite a while. In the end, everything was in order, and we set off again a good half-hour later. We finally arrived at Barcelona airport after 2 PM, but no stress since my flight was scheduled for 4:30 PM with Saudia. At check-in, the hostess told me there’d be a 1-hour delay due to bad weather in France and Belgium. In the end, the flight didn’t just have a 1-hour delay but a 5-hour one because of a technical issue. The next flight wouldn’t wait for us. When we arrived in Jeddah, they gave us another ticket for the following day—the flight to Bangkok was scheduled for 11:55 AM. The airline assigned us a room, which was good news since I was exhausted. Friday morning, the flight was still scheduled for 11:55 AM, but the gate wasn’t displayed. It was announced with a 1-hour delay, but that stretched to 4 hours. They handed out drinks and a snack—again, the delay was due to technical problems. In Bangkok, I had a connecting flight to Chiang Rai, where I’d also booked a room—I lost everything. We finally arrived in Bangkok on Saturday at 4 AM. I had to buy another ticket for a 7 AM flight. The formalities were quick, and my flight went smoothly. A taxi took me to Bus Terminal 1, where I caught a bus leaving at 10 AM, and we arrived at the Thailand-Laos border. I shared a taxi with other travelers, which took us to Houay Xai. The guesthouse I’d booked was right across from the stop—that was great. I exchanged some money and bought a SIM card at the guesthouse. Despite the fatigue, I needed to stretch my legs, so I walked down the street to the temple.

I have a question about the Rome2Rio app. Can you set it up to show routes using the BTS and MRT (for Bangkok) instead of buses or taxis? For example, I’d like to know how long the trip from Chong Nonsi to Bang Khun Non will take, but the app doesn’t suggest the MRT or BTS, even though it’s totally doable. Any tips on how to fix this?

I’m looking for a beach spot within 3 hours max of Bangkok for the end of my trip (January). I know full well I won’t find that postcard-perfect vibe of the more remote islands! But I don’t have a choice. If you’ve got any ideas... no high-rises, obviously not Pattaya, somewhere quiet, swimming possible, a hotel right on the beach (and not too dirty, the beach itself!) I’ve looked at hotels around Ko Samet or, across from it, on the mainland. I spotted the Bann Pae Cabana. But nothing really exciting on either side. New ideas welcome! 🙂

Departure is fast approaching. The decision is made—we’ll be returning to Laos via the north. We land at BKK at 7:30 AM. Buses to Chiang Rai leave in the evening starting at 5:30 PM. We’ll head straight to Chiang Khong afterward. Now, a lot of questions remain:

What’s the most budget-friendly way to get to Mochit 2 terminal? Can we buy the bus ticket the same day at the terminal, or do we need to book it in advance? So far, all my searches point me to 12GO for reservations. Where can we leave our luggage while waiting for the bus to Chiang Rai? In Chiang Rai, where can we take the bus from Bus Terminal 2 to Bus Terminal 1? Do you know the bus number? On Thailandee.com, the price is 70 THB/person, but on 12GO, the minimum price is 17 €—can you spot the mistake?

Do we need to redo the TDAC when we return to Thailand, or will the departure one still be valid?

Hello, For my partner’s birthday during our trip to Thailand, I’d love to take her on a "spa" day to beautiful waterfalls and/or hot springs (and maybe find a nice hotel nearby, plus a lovely night and a massage to complete the experience!). We’ll be there between January 29 and February 11, 2026, which is the dry season in many regions... Bummer if we arrive and only find a trickle of water for the surprise! We won’t be heading north—we’re doing Bangkok, then Krabi, and an island in the south. I’d spotted the hot springs near Krabi, like Namtok Ron Khlong Thom (and maybe the Emerald Pool), but what will the water levels be like there at that time of year? I’d also considered Erawan Falls, even if it means leaving Bangkok for a day/night, but same question about the water flow...

Has anyone here been to these places or have any feedback? Or another spot like this that fits within our planned route? Thanks in advance, and have a great day everyone!

So excited to be back on this forum of fellow travel enthusiasts to ask for advice about my upcoming two-week trip to Thailand in March 2026.

Given that it’ll be the start of the intense heat and burning season, I’m wondering about my itinerary, which would focus on the central/southern part of the country.

Ideally, I’d like a mix of relaxation in a nice setting, culture (temples or old palaces), and I’m keeping six days in Bangkok, which I love :)

I’m planning to get around by train, car (through an agency), or plane if it’s easier.

Option 1: HUA HIN – 3/4 days (day trips to PHETCHABURI + SAM ROI YOT + ARTISAN MARKETS) KANCHANABURI – 3/4 days NAKHON PATHOM – 1 day BANGKOK – 6 days

My doubts: -Will the sky be too hazy (from smoke) for good photos? -Will Kanchanaburi and its surroundings be less enchanting during this period (dry landscapes)?

Option 2: PHUKET (4 days): exploring the island + PHANG NGA Bay HUA HIN (3/4 days) BANGKOK (7 days)

My doubts: -How do I get from Phuket to Hua Hin? It seems like flying isn’t an option, and I’d have to take a long trip up the southern coast or return to Bangkok to catch the train. -Is Phuket even remotely pleasant during this ultra-touristy period? -Is Karon a good base for exploring Phuket?

Option 3: PHUKET KAO SOK SURAT THANI? BANGKOK

My doubts: -I’d like to add a destination with beautiful temples in this area, but maybe Surat Thani isn’t the best idea.

Option 4: SURAT THANI >> HUA HIN (6/7 days) BANGKOK

Doubts: -I’m worried this route might be too tiring if I have to move every two days.

I’m open to any tips—or even a completely different itinerary if you have other ideas.

Our family trip (2 kids, boys aged 6 and 9) is coming up fast, and I have a few questions. I’ve seen that quite a few people on this forum are active about Thailand, so I hope you can help me out :-)

- I have a Free mobile plan with a good amount of data abroad (35GB). Do you know if the Bolt or Grab apps work well with a French SIM? I’ve read that the app might not work if the SIM isn’t Thai, but I’ve also seen French travelers using their SIMs in Thailand, so I’m not sure what to think.

- What tips do you have to avoid traveler’s diarrhea (especially for our 6- and 9-year-olds)? I’m already preparing them to wash their hands often and not put their hands in their mouths or brush their teeth with tap water (they’re still little and might not control the water well in their mouths). Are there certain dishes or food stands to avoid? Are ice cubes really off-limits too?

- We arrive in Bangkok at 9 AM, and we have a French-speaking guided tour scheduled for the next morning (all day). The itinerary isn’t finalized yet with the guide—I need to get back in touch soon. What do you recommend doing on that first day, which might be tiring after the long flight and jet lag? Our hotel has a nice pool, but I’d love for us to get out and explore a bit :-)

- Is the Grand Palace really best visited early in the morning to avoid crowds?

- I’d love to visit a night or floating market, but they’re all on weekends. Unfortunately, we’re in Bangkok from Wednesday to Saturday morning (then we take the train to Ayutthaya in the morning). Is there a market on Friday night? I saw Chatuchak, but Friday night doesn’t seem like the best time—is it still worth going?

I’ve looked for answers to these questions, but I’m either not finding a definitive answer or I’m overwhelmed by all the things to do/see in Bangkok. So, I’m hoping your advice or experiences can help me out!

Je souhaite visiter le nord de Chiang Rai, précisément Thaton puis Mae Salong et Mae Chan. Sur le site du Ministère des affaires étrangères, il est formellement déconseillé de se rendre sur la zone frontalière avec la Birmanie mais la carte reste imprécise, une bande rouge le long de la frontière est dessinée sans aucun nom de village, aussi impossible de savoir si ces villages sont concernés.
