We’re planning our first trip to Quebec for early July 2026. There’ll be 2 adults and 2 teens (17 and 14 years old). For now, we’re thinking of renting an RV in Montreal for this loop.

Here’s a first draft of our route, based on itineraries I’ve seen on the forum. The times below are the useful time spent at each stop, not including driving. Does the order make sense? It has us crossing the river twice. Are the lengths of the stops reasonable? We like to take our time and not spend too much time on the road. Finally, any other suggestions for places to add or swap out?

Hi there, We’re planning a trip to Quebec from June 15 to 28, 2025, specifically along the St. Lawrence River. As I’ve been looking into it, I’ve got two main questions:

First, about our route—I feel like I might be biting off more than we can chew by wanting to follow the left bank downstream from Quebec City (including the Saguenay Fjord and Lac Saint-Jean), then heading to Gaspésie by ferry, and finally returning along the right bank. We’re flying into Montreal and will likely stop in Quebec City too. Over about ten days, is that too much? Would it be better to stick to the left bank, enjoy the coast and the lake, and maybe explore Mauricie or Mont-Tremblant on the way back instead?

Second, about prices. Since we’re thinking of renting a car and booking accommodations at each stop, I was a bit surprised by hotel and motel rates. I’ve always heard Canada is a pretty expensive destination, but I’m seeing average prices very similar to France—between 60 € and 90 €. Am I missing something? Is service not included? Meanwhile, on platforms like Airbnb, the prices seem exorbitant.

This second question is a bit generic, but as I’m trying to budget, I don’t feel like there’s a huge difference compared to France, even for meals. Am I way off base?

Hi everyone, as a regular in the "bike travel" section, I’m reaching out for some info since I’m planning to come to Montreal at the end of September 2026 for the Road Cycling World Championships. If I get the time off and manage to gather the details, I’ll arrive on Wednesday the 23rd and leave on Tuesday the 29th. Traveling solo with just my backpack, I need answers to: 1°) Do you know of any youth hostels (or similar) within walking distance (less than 3 km) of the finish circuit on Mount Royal? 2°) What’s the best way to get to this accommodation from the airport—metro, bus, etc.?

I’m just starting my research and counting on you all for any tips. My goal is to watch the road races and explore Montreal afterward—restaurants, bars, and more.

Hi everyone! 🙂 My partner would love to discover Quebec, while I’ve already been there over 15 years ago (Quebec City, Tadoussac, the Fjords, Lac Saint-Jean). This time, of course, we’d want to do something different. Quebec City would still be a must for my partner in this plan. With the tight budget we have right now🤪, we’re thinking of spending several days in Quebec City, then maybe renting bikes to explore the surrounding areas—aside from Montmorency Falls, what other nice spots are worth visiting? I remember there being tons of bike paths. After that, we’d rent a car (for a few days to visit the parks) and use trains or buses for the rest of the trip. From what I recall, cars aren’t super fuel-efficient there. Since we’ve never seen Niagara Falls, I’d like to include it in this itinerary. For a roughly 15-day trip in September, I was thinking of a multi-destination flight: France-Quebec / Toronto-France, so it’d look something like this: Quebec City: 5 days (including arrival day) Pick up the car La Mauricie National Park (or others?) 1 day Mont-Tremblant 1 day Montreal 4 days Drop off the car in Montreal By train/bus Toronto 2 days By train/bus Buffalo-Niagara Falls 1 day Toronto 1 day (return to France) I was planning one night at Niagara Falls—is that enough, or is a single day sufficient? If our finances don’t stretch that far, we’d shorten the trip from Montreal (so long, Niagara🙁), adding extra nights between Quebec City and Montreal. I’m planning a trip to Canada this fall. I have 19 days total. The trip will start in Quebec, then continue to Gaspésie, New Brunswick, and finally Nova Scotia. I’ve already mapped out my itinerary, and it only leaves me with 3 days (including the departure day) in Nova Scotia. We’ll be flying out of Halifax for the return. That’s really not much time—just enough to see Halifax and the surrounding area.

I’d love to hear your thoughts: would it be better to cut some days from Gaspésie or New Brunswick to have more time in Nova Scotia? Do you think I’d be missing out by not spending more time in the region?

Hi, Part of the family is Canadian, and we usually go there every two years. We’ve already visited quite a bit, but since the family is in New Brunswick, we’ve never really explored Quebec (aside from the two main cities). I’m starting to plan a new little loop for late July 2026 to finally enjoy Quebec a bit more. We’re aiming for about ten days before heading to NB.

Here’s a first draft: Montreal (1 night) Mauricie National Park (1 night) Lac Saint-Jean via Route 155 (2 nights for the zoo and the historic village) Saguenay Fjord National Park (1 night) Then two options to get down to Quebec City: A- Jacques-Cartier National Park via Route 175 B- Tadoussac, then down the St. Lawrence River

We have an 11-year-old and plan to do some hikes. Driving doesn’t bother us, but we also want to take the time to explore. The traditional whale-watching cruise in Tadoussac isn’t planned this time since we’ve already seen whales in Saint Andrews, NB, during our last trip.

Does the itinerary seem reasonable? Which option is nicer for getting down to Quebec City? Is there anything we shouldn’t miss on this loop?

Just to remind you, my round trip is: Montreal – Mauricie – Lac Saint-Jean – Tadoussac – Gaspésie – Charlevoix – Quebec City... but I'm really hesitating between Montreal, Mauricie, Charlevoix, Quebec City, the Saguenay Fjord, Lac Saint-Jean, Tadoussac, the Gaspésie ferry, and back to Montreal.

Hi there, We’re heading to Quebec from July 7 to 21 with our two kids (ages 5 and 7) and my wife, and we’re putting together an itinerary while keeping some flexibility (though much less than we’d hoped, since we’re realizing accommodations are already filling up fast!). Below is our draft plan—pretty far along since we’ve booked 9 out of 14 nights—but it’s definitely not perfect. We’d love some advice on what to do after Parc du Bic (3 nights to improvise) before heading back to Parc Omega, where we’ve booked a tipi :-) It seems clear that a 3-day Gaspésie loop isn’t doable (too bad about Percé and Parc Forillon, but I think we’re already covering a lot of ground with this route!). But what about the option of driving up to Sainte-Anne-des-Monts to spend a day in Parc de la Gaspésie before the (long) drive back, and still enjoying part of the coastal road, which looks stunning? So, I’m looking for the best compromise for a 2-month health insurance plan. I’ve read the discussions on this topic, but the most recent one is from last year, and I’d love your take on the current situation. I’m familiar with the usual options like Europ Assistance and AXA, but I’ve just discovered Chapka and Heymondo (the latter seems interesting in terms of both price and coverage).

What do you think of these last two? How do they compare in terms of value for money against the bigger companies?

Hi there, I’d planned to visit Cathedral Valley, Goblin Valley, the Burr Trail/Northom loop, Factory Butte, and Moonscape Overlook, as well as the Capitol Reef scenic route over three days. The scenic Highway 12 would be for the following days.

Since I rented an AWD SUV, I was planning to contact an outfitter for Cathedral Valley, but they suggested that instead of doing Cathedral Valley with them and the rest solo, they could take me to the four most relevant sites mentioned in the title. Their plan is to start at sunrise at either Temples of the Sun/Moon or Moonscape Overlook and then hit the other three afterward. What do you think? Thanks! Louis

Since my 2024 travel journal is finally posted, I’m diving into planning our September road trip to the part of Arizona we haven’t explored yet and to New Mexico, which we don’t know at all.



Flights, accommodations, and the rental car are all set—I just need to organize the stops. On the day we arrive in Phoenix (we’re staying in Gold Canyon), I’ve planned a visit to Lost Dutchman State Park at sunset with a short hike and a stop at Goldfield Ghost Town. I was thinking of driving as far as Tortilla Flat, but it might be tight, especially since our flight lands at 12:50 PM, and the most scenic part of the Apache Trail seems to be just past Tortilla Flat. The next day, we’re heading to Tucson for three nights. The first day will be dedicated to Saguaro East (near our hotel), the following day to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, then the Bajada Loop Drive with two short hikes, and the North Kidney Road up to the OVL. Finally, on the last day, we’ll visit Sabino Canyon and hike to Seven Falls—and this is where I could use your insights! The hike is 13 km if we don’t take the shuttle. If we do, it’s only 8 km. Are those kilometers flat, or does it climb right from the start? And if we take the shuttle, where should we get off? Is the trail well-marked? I’ve heard it’s not very clearly signposted.

We’ve booked our rooms to ensure a wheelchair-accessible room is available. When searching on Expedia or Booking, few hotels have rooms with a shower accessible for wheelchairs (so a real PMR room). However, these are cancelable, so if something really stands out, I’m all ears 😉.

We’ve booked our car through BSP Auto and we’re flying with Air Transat.

Nous nous apprêtons à acheter un van (type Expert/Trafic) pour notre tour d'Europe (et plus si....) en famille, départ février 2021, durée environ 10 mois. Avec trois enfants, s'en suivent de longues réflexions sur l'aménagement.

Et surtout celle-ci : plutôt toit relevable (pour les deux grandes de 8 et 6 ans, le petit de 4 ans dormirait sur une couchette au-dessus de nos pieds) ou tente de toit (pour tous les 5 dans ce cas, par ex NaitUp)?

Dans les deux cas, le van fera aussi salon-cuisine, et possibilité de dormir à 5 dedans tout fermé en cas de nécessité. Non, pas de douche, et oui ca va être spartiate, et oui on aime ca 😎 (en fait, on vend même le camping-car pour se lancer à la place dans ce van, pour tout dire)

Bref. Avez-vous l'une ou l'autre des ces solutions? Quels avantages, quels inconvénients? Vous recommanderiez plutôt quoi?

Salut la communauté ! Préparant actuellement un voyage (ah bon ???) a vélo je me posais une petite question (grosse en fait). Je compte faire en moyenne 115km par jour avec environ 1100m de dénivelé, en moyenne. Est ce extravagant ?? Sachant que je fait pas mal de VTT mais que je n'ai jamais fait de vélo de route. Et que j'aurais environ 20kg de bagages. Devrais je baisser mes distances journalières ? Combien de mois avant le départ s'entraîner ? Merci de vos (précieuses) réponses. J’aimerais vos idées ou conseils à propos du chemin de retour vers Montréal que nous pourrions prendre.

Pour aller nous irons deux nuits à sandbank, ensuite trois nuits à Niagara Falls. Je pensais ensuite, aller deux nuits à la péninsule de Bruce..

Après avoir mené une 1ère réflexion sur la Namibie (avec un itinéraire assez avancé déjà) je réfléchis également au Rwanda car entre les 2, notre cœur balance 😛.

En effet, nous projetons un voyage en Afrique Australe en juin/juillet l'année prochaine sur environ 14 ou 15 nuits sur place avec nos deux filles (13 et 15 ans), avec location d'une voiture.

Après avoir parcouru le forum, j'ai dressé un 1er itinéraire, et je souhaitais avoir votre avis sur le timing et le trajet entre les différentes étapes. Le but est aussi de prendre notre temps et de ne pas faire un marathon, essayer de s'imprégner du pays, de donner une dimension humaine à ce voyage.

Voilà ma 1ère ébauche : Kigali - 1 nuit Butare - 1 nuit Nyungwe - 2 nuits Kibuye 1 ou 2 nuits ? Gisenyi 1 nuit Musanze ou Kinigi 1 nuit (nous ne nous offrirons pas le permis gorille 😉)

Pour aller à l'Akagera ensuite, faut-il refaire une nuit à Kigali où existe-t-il une étape sympa à faire pour 1 nuit ?

Hello les voyageurs et/ou les Québécois. Passionnée par la faune sauvage c'est l'une de mes principales motivations pour voyager. Je vais bientôt démarrée un voyage de 2 ans au Canada, ce pays sauvage et j'aimerais beaucoup me rendre au nord du Québec pour observer des animaux polaires, principalement phoques annelés, phoques barbus et phoques du Groenland et loirs polaire serait le sirop d'érable sur la cerise sur le gâteau! Mais j'ai beaucoup de mal à trouver des informations, des prix etc. Est ce que c'est possible sans y laisser tout son comte en banque? Sans être au milieu d'une horde de touristes ? J'aimerais avoir une expérience authentique près des gens qui vivent dans ces régions. Au départ de n'importe où, disponible à partir de septembre/octobre avec un véhicule.

Nous projetons de partir en Namibie du 23 juin au 13 juillet 2021 (à confirmer en fonction des vols) avec nos deux filles qui auront 16 et 13 ans 1/2. L'idée est de le faire en 4*4 avec tentes sur le toit pour profiter au maximum des grands espaces et de couper un peu avec des lodges et guest farms. Je ne sais pas encore à quelle fréquence. Peut-être prendre un lodge quand le camping n'apporte pas de plus value pour profiter du cadre.

Les itinéraires se ressemblent avec quelques petites différences. il faut déjà que je revois le combiné campsite / lodges car après réflexion je trouve que cela fait bcp de nuits en lodges, alors qu'on loue un 4*4 équipé camping. De plus, une moyenne gamme nous suffit, je n'ai pas encore regardé quelle gamme ils ont choisies. Il me semble avoir lu que sur juin / juillet on ne peut pas profiter des piscines.

Suntrail propose une nuit de plus à Etosha, quel est votre avis : 3 ou 4 nuits ?

C'est une première ébauche à affiner bien sûr mais quelques premiers avis sur les itinéraires et les hébergements que vous connaissez m'aideraient déjà beaucoup.

J'envisage de faire le chemin de Stevenson cet été. Le départ est prévu pour la fin juillet. Même si j'ai l'habitude de marcher, ce sera ma première sortie sur plusieurs jours. Je me pose la question du couchage, et surtout de la température nocturne. Vaut-il mieux prévoir un couchage pour une température de 0°, ou bien un couchage pour une température confort de 5° suffit ? Merci par avance pour votre réponse. Bonne journée. Stéphane

Bonjour, en ces temps de confinement, j'en profite pour chercher à sortir des sentiers battus. Je cherche un endroit où stationner une journée notre CC entre Monegrillo et Castejo de Monegros pour explorer la zone entre les 2. Notre CC fait 7.09m plus une remorque pour le quad, soit environ 12 m de long (le quad nous permet d'aller où le CC ne peut pas et, en plus, de promener le chien 😎). Si, de plus, il y a moyen de passer la nuit, ce sera le pied (aucun besoin de confort).

Bonjour à tous, notre petit Trip avance plus que bien mais je sèche sur une partie. J'aurais besoin de vos lumières ! Nous partons donc en Février 2021 à 5, ( 2 adultes et 3 enfants de 14, 9, 6 ans, ) nous allons louer une voiture.

Nos 5 premiers jours vont se passer à Québec ça c'est fait et réservé ! Ensuite nous partons pour la vallée Bras Nord pour 2 jours fait et réservé ! Puis Trois rivières pour 2 jours, Fait et réservé ! Et après nous aimerions partir vers le Parc Oméga, mais nous voudrions faire une halte de 1 ou 2 jours mais ou ? alors là je sèche…. auriez vous des idées ?

Sachant que nous avons déjà prévu comme activité : - Traineau à chien, - Balade en raquettes, - Cabane à sucre, - Patin à glace, - Glissades. Puis le parc Omega et terminer 3 jours à Montréal puis départ pour Paris le lendemain.

Voilà en gros je n'ai pas détaillé étapes par étapes il y a bien sur les visites des villes, des chutes, traversée du St Laurent, les réserves…..

Bonjour a tous, je tiens a vous annoncer que je suis nouveau sur ce forum... Je me présente rapidement, je m'appelle Jordan, j'ai 22 ans et je vis chez mes parents.. Si je poste aujourd'hui c'est parce que j'aimerai faire un petit voyage aux Etats-Unis.. Seulement j'aimerai planifier ça au mieux histoire de faire les choses bien car je n'ai jamais voyagé seul.. Je suis attiré par l'Ouest américain et mon but n'est pas de passer mes journées dans un hôtel.. Que me conseillez-vous ? Quelle seraient la meilleure option pour moi ? De plus je me débrouille assez bien en anglais !
