Nous comptons nous rendre mi-septembre dans l'Ouest (à nouveau... en 2004 nous avons fait déjà dans le désordre : Gd Canyon, Death Valley, SF, LA, Las Vegas, Page, Paria Valley, Monument Valley, Zion, Bryce etc...). Notre projet intitial était de faire la mythique Rte 66, mais 14 nuits + les frais d'abandon pr le loueur me font préférer un départ par Albuquerque. La rte 66 abandonnée progressivement au profit des Parcs Nationaux...

Je sais mi-septembre est encore loin, mais je suis une psychopathe des voyages et mon mari un fan des States... qui m'a donné le virus !!

Par ailleurs, si vous avez des conseils au niveau des loueurs... pr les frais d'abandon notamment n'hésitez pas !

Chicago fera probablement l'objet d'un voyage à part, mais sans location de voiture. Environ 8 à 10 jours, comme nous l'avons fait pour NYC en 2005...

Je reviens depuis peu d'un voyage de noce de 36 jours aux States ! En tout 300 photos environ. Malheureusement elle sont inexploitables!!!! 🙁Meme pas une potable pour en mettre dans un album souvenir. Nous avons fait los angeles, venice, san diego, palm springs, phoenix, page, moab, kanab, las vegas, san franscisco, monterey, santa barbara et naturellement tous les parks saguaro, bryce, antelope, yosemite, grand canyon, monument valley, etc.....

nous arriverons le 7 aout au soir à san diego et repartirons le 20 aout midi de las vegas, donc 13 nuits pour faire :san diego, los angeles, et las vegas; mon soucis est de savoir quelle est la meilleure solution pour profiter de las vegas et de ses hotels et de pouvoir aller au grand canyon (coté sud) et bryce canyon ; dans quel sens doit on le faire? Nous aurons une location de voiture depuis san diego que nous rendrons à las vegas; nous avions au départ prévu un tour en avion ou hélico depuis las vegas qui faisait les 2 sites, mais l'agence qui le faisait ne le fait plus ; de plus, je prends peur en voyant d'après le site forum que les hotels seraient déjà complets???? en fait mon circuit est : 4 AOUT : nice washington (avion) 7 AOUT : washington san diego (avion) 8 AOUT au 20 aout : san diego, los angeles et las vegas et sa région (voiture) 20 AOUT : las vegas new york (avion) 23 AOUT : new york nice (avion)

On prépare un voyage entre juillet et aout cette année sur la cote ouest ... comme beaucoup j'ai l'impression ... et j'aimerais profiter des lumières des voyageurs précédents !

itinéraire en gros san francisco - yosemite-death valley-las vegas-zion park -bryce canyon-page et lake powel-grand canyon - los angeles -san francisco

on a fait resa a san francisco seulement pour l'instant ... on pensait faire aussi a las vegas au stratosphere hotel ... a los angeles peut être au Redondo Pier Inn ... je me doute que pour yosemite il faudrait aussi se bouger ... mais pour le reste du voyage est-il indispensable de faire resa ou on peut trouver sur la route des ptits motels pas trop mal pour une nuit ?? entre autre vers bryce, page et grand canyon ? ça nous saoule un peu de devoir tout planifier a l'avance sans garder de liberté sur nos envies de voyage mais si c'est indispensable autant le savoir tout de suite, et si vous avez bonnes adresses d'hotels a prix modérés je suis preneuse

Je prépare un voyage autour du monde, et ma première étape, en septembre 2004, est Los Angeles, Las Vegas et les parcs nationaux tels que Yosemite, Zyon, Lac Powell, Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Arches, Bryce Canyon.

Je suis seule à partir pour ce petit périple, et je recherche actuellement la meilleure façon de voyager.

Donc je demande avis aux grands connaisseurs et grands sages de cette région. Est ce que le principe Bus-Auberges de jeunesse est envisageable???

Ou je me demande si le mieux n'est pas encore de louer une voiture à plusieurs, et là je demande avis aux amateurs, coéquipiers intéressés (note: petit budget, séjour de 2 à 3 semaines à partir du 10-15 septembre).

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)

Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly! Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!

On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.

We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏

Do you have any tips for a fun and doable itinerary over about 20–25 days with kids, without rushing?

What do you think? Could we add one more night somewhere? We’re not big hikers, so we’ll mostly explore the parks using shuttles.

Also, we’re all set—passports are good. Do you think one classic Visa card and one premium Visa card will be enough for coverage?

I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.

So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.

This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.

Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks... For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400, which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.). Total madness.

The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.

Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

Hi everyone, I’m planning a three-week road trip in the American West, starting from Las Vegas, roughly following the two-week itinerary here. I like the loop idea, but since I’ve got an extra week, I’m wondering if it’s better to take time for a break in a city or just spread out the stops a bit. Is it worth staying a few days in another big city like Denver to break up the drive? I like cities, but nothing’s really inspiring me. I’m also hesitant about Canyonlands National Park: is it really worth two days or more, or is it less impressive than others like Arches or Bryce Canyon? If any of you have done a longer road trip in this region, I’d love your advice on where to extend the trip, where to relax a bit, and which lesser-known spots are worth the detour. Thanks!

The goal was to get some fresh air, walk at a relaxed pace (80 km in 6 days), and visit friends.

Transavia flight: No issues YorCar rental: No issues (and cheap) B&B 1: Quinta do Mocho Turismo Rural in Estoy: Good, even if a bit remote B&B 2: Casa Luma B&B in Lagos: Disappointed (and really disappointed with room #3)

Day 1: Flight, rental car, stop at São Lourenço in Almancil, and visit to Loulé Day 2: Olhão, walk at Praia do Barril, Tavira, and evening in Faro’s old town (park at São Francisco parking lot) Day 3: Walk on the boardwalks at Quinto do Ludo, Falesia beaches, Carvoeiro Day 4: The boardwalks in Alvor, Praia da Rocha in Portimão, Ferragudo, and the boardwalks around Algar Seco Day 5: Ponta da Piedade in Lagos, walk to Praia de Luz from Praia Camilho Day 6: Burgau, Cape Sagres, Cape St. Vincent, Carrapateira, and Praia da Bordeira Day 7: "Sete Vales Suspensos" hike from Marinha Beach

Our highlights: - The Vincentine Coast (Carrapateira), much nicer than the concrete of the southern coast - The fish restaurants and Cataplana (A Barrigada in Lagos, Ribeira do Poço in Vila do Bispo...) - The boardwalks everywhere (Quinto do Ludo, Alvor, Algar Seco...) - The sun on the cliffs and Falesia Beach (it’s the local Bryce Canyon) - Chatting with the fishermen perched on the cliffs of Carrapateira - The weather (we were lucky for early March)

Our disappointments: - The towns and villages (Tavira and Lagos stand out) - The traffic off the highway - The English, the English, and more English everywhere

Here’s the rough outline I’m sharing with you—feel free to give constructive feedback!!

From April 20, 2025, to May 5, 2025, that’s 14 days on-site excluding flights.

D20: Flight from Lyon to Phoenix, night in Phoenix L21: Phoenix (visit the zoo, city, Apache Trail? The road is apparently closed??) night in Sedona M22: Sedona, night in Sedona M23: Depart for GC, visit GC, night in GC (no accommodation booked yet, same goes for the following visits) J24: Drive to MV, visit MV, night in Mexican Hat or? V25: End of MV, drive to Page, night in Page S26: Page—Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Lake Powell, night in Page D27: Drive to Bryce, visit Bryce, night? L28: End of Bryce, depart for Zion (I’m wondering if it’s worth visiting Zion at the end of April—since the park is at high altitude, is there a risk of snow? Temperatures?) If we skip Zion, could we plan 2 days for Arches before heading to Bryce? Night in Springdale if Zion, otherwise drive to Valley of Fire, night? M29: Valley of Fire, then drive to LV, night in LV M30: Morning in LV, then drive to Death Valley, night in Furnace Creek? J1: Visit Death Valley, return to LV, night in LV And then we have 3 days left... where should we add them? More time in Arches and Zion? An extra day in Sedona? In Page? I’m guessing Phoenix is more pleasant in December than in August, but what about Monument Valley—and especially Moab—and the road conditions?
