bonjour, je suis un petit nouveau sur le site donc je vais commencer par le début. je débute l'étude d'un TDM en4X4 avec ma compagne sans contrainte de temps. j'ai fais le choix du 4X4, j'hésite sur le modèle et c'est l'objet de ma première question Land rover ou Toyota? j'aimerai echanger avec des couples ou familles ayant dèja fait cette expérience. Je prends l'avion depuis toute petite et avant j'adorais ça. maintenant depuis 1 an, je stresse beaucoup en avion. ça m'est venu un jour que je revenais de Rome, le vol se passait bien pourtant mais la peur a commencé à me gagner sans que je ne comprenne pourquoi.

Je commence à stresser une fois que je suis installée à bord et quand l'avion s'apprête à décoller. ensuite, je stresse assez pendant tout le vol (ça m'empêche de dormir ou même de faire autre chose) ce qui est très handicapant surtout lorsque le vol dure 12h! 🤪 pourtant je ne cesse de me répéter que c'est un mode de transport assez sûr...

Je sais que cette peur repose sur une anxiété naturelle (mais que j'arrive d'habitude à canaliser) et surtout sur une méconnaissance de l'aéronautique.

Comme je n'ai pas les moyens de suivre un stage que propose Air France et qui parait-il permet à certains de ne plus avoir peur, je me disais que je pourrais lire un bouquin m'expliquant quelques bases de l'aéronautique et les phénomènes normaux qui se produisent en vol, en me donnant également quelques conseils pour mieux gérer mon stress.

J'ai entendu parler d'un livre: "Comment ne plus avoir peur en avion" de Marie-Claude Dentan/Michel Polacco et Noël Chevrier. Connaissez vous? est-ce bien? Connaissez vous un autre livre qui permet de rassurer un peu et qui est efficace pour apprendre à mieux gérer son stress dans ce cas précis?

Elles pourront m'être d'une aide précieuse car je m'apprête à prendre plussieurs fois l'avion cette année (dont un vol de 13h), et j'aimerais un peu plus profiter des films, du bouquin que j'amène et arriver un minimum reposée à destination. J'ai demandé des calmants à mon médecin au cas où mais j'aimerais vraiment m'en passer.

Je suis parti en voyage à vélo en autonomie complète avec 20 kg de bagage. Je me demandais si c'était la norme ou si vous partez avec plus, moins, etc. Je suis parti pour une semaine, mais une semaine ou un mois, ya pas vraiment de différence...

A combiene s'élève votre poids de bagage lors d'un voyage à vélo??

Dans mes 20 kg, j'avais ma tente, mon sleeping, mon matelas, mon poele MSR, ma gamelle, du linge, manteau chaud pour le temps froid ( yavait de la neige sur la route a certain endroit), linge de vélo, un peu de bouffe, etc.

Je pense que j'aurais pu descendre ce poids a 17-kg, mais en bas de ca, ca aurait été difficile???

Cherche hotel ou guest housse sympa à Sapa et à hoi an Viet nam pour une famille de 4. J'ai lu le routard et le lonely mais hôtel choisir ?

Je pars pour l'hôtel El senador (Cayo coco) le 13 mars et après avoir consciensieusement lu à peu près tout les forum de discussion sur le sujet, il me restait encore quelques petites questions!

Comment on fait pour que la femme de chambre comprenne que je lui laisse un cadeau? Y'a-t-il une place spécifique pour le mettre dans ma chambre afin qu'elle comprenne que ma bouteille de Kytex ou que des crayons de cire lui sont destinés?

Est-ce qu'on peut nager avec les dauphins proche de l'hôtel El senador? Ça coûte combien? Ça vaut-tu la peine?

Est-ce qu'on peut aller visiter des villes pauvres proches? Aller passer des journées dans des vrais villes de cubains? Faut-il louer une voiture?

Avez-vous des activités à me conseiller ou à me déconseiller? Des plogs?

Nous voulions visiter le costa rica ce printemps mais à voir les bonnes impressions et la différence de budget avec le nicaragua....nous hésitons!ma compagne n'en est qu'à son 3ème voyage de routarde et après le formidable acceuil des dominicains l'années dernière, le contraste risque d'être difficile à vivre.

j'attends avec impatience vos points de vue pour nous conseiller sachant que notre budget est d'environs 1500 euros avions compris pour 4 semaines maxi......qu'en est-il des séquelles de la guerre.....et qu'en est -il du potentiel "plage" pour la fin de périple?

Nous sommes revenus d’un séjour de 10 jours en RD, à Bayahibe dans l’hôtel Sunscape casa del mar.

Que vous dire… le paradis…

Avant de partir j’ai lu beaucoup de commentaires sur cet hôtel, commentaires qui pour certains m’ont un peu inquiétée sur ma réservation !

Et bien en fait, bien que je comprenne bien que chacun aie ses exigences propres et vive ses vacances de manière personnelle, je crois que j’aurai maintenant le sourire en lisant certaines doléances « un peu exagérées » sur cet hôtel

Nous devions partir avec la compagnie aérienne « TUI Airlines Belgium », mais au dernier moment c’est « Icelandair » qui nous a pris en charge. J’ai entendu beaucoup de personnes « craindre » de partir avec eux pour de gros problèmes de retards, je ne sais ce qui en est vraiment mais nous n’avons eu à nous plaindre d’aucun retard. Il est pourtant vrai que tout n’est peut-être pas au point, il parait que les passagers de 1ère classe auraient eu froid une bonne partie du vol car un joint de la soute à bagage aurait sauté. La seule chose qui m’ai embêté était que les infos données en anglais par le commandant de bord n’étaient pas traduites en français. Au retour, j’en ai parlé gentiment à l’hôtesse et ils sont venus gentiment m’expliquer notre « route ». il y a eu 3 films en français dans l’avion, deux « repas » (avec des spéciaux juniors), nous avions le fameux petit oreiller et une couverture pour le trajet de nuit. Les sièges étaient 2-3-2.

L’aéroport de Punta Cana est bien sympathique ;-) le contraste est saisissant !!!

Le trajet entre l’aéroport et l’hôtel dure 1h30, mais les bus ont la clim ;-)))) ce ne nous a pas semblé si long, le paysage par contre est triste… des poubelles, des poubelles et encore des poubelles… il ne faut vraiment pas s’arrêter à ça ;-)))

20min au plus pour avoir les clefs de notre chambre, par contre, 30 min d’attente pour pouvoir y aller car elle n'était pas prête. Mais toujours le sourire car il y a de grands fauteuils confortables et un petit bar de cocktails de bienvenue dans l’entrée.

Notre chambre (suite familiales) se situait à l’étage dans le bat 2, très très très calme, nous n’avons jamais rien entendu, même pas de bruits de douches… à se demander si nous étions seuls ;-)))) Mais nous étions peut-être un peu plus isolés, maintenant nous choisirions plutôt le bat 3 ou 5, certainement plus bruyant mais plus près de la piscine (avec les enfants à qui il manque toujours un masque, un jouet ou autre oublié dans la chambre…) mais aucun bâtiment n’est vraiment loin ;-))) et les petits chemins sont très agréables dans des jardins magnifiques et bien entretenus.

La suite se situe en bout de bâtiment avec une jolie vue sur la plage et se constitue en fait de 2 chambres communicantes, la nôtre lit immense et 2 lits pour les enf et un petit salon dans la suivante, tout est en double, le frigo rempli, les salles de bain, superbe (double) terrasse, tv, … et petite attention la salle de bain est toute fleurie à l’arrivée, c’est très joli !!!! et on y trouve une petite trousse de bienvenue (bain douche, shampoing, lait pour le corps, lait solaire, nécessaire de couture, brosses à dents, savons, ouate, bonnet de douche, coton tige, …) gentille attention, c’est du jamais vu pour nous !!!!

Nous nous sommes régalés durant tout le séjour !!!! Il y a du choix, une jolie présentation et le buffet est super pratique pour régaler du plus petit au plus grand selon les goûts de chacun !!!! Mon petit de 8 ans a un petit appétit, et il n’a jamais autant mangé !!!!!! le personnel est incroyable, ils sont vraiment au petit soin, sourire compris !!!! Ils font beaucoup d’efforts pour nous comprendre et nous répondre dans notre langue.

Les animations sont bien présentes tout au long de la journée, le mini club est pas mal du tout, notre petit a beaucoup aimé. Le soir (7h30) il y a un mini cinéma en plain air soit près de la piscine, soit sur la plage. A 9h00 il y a la mini disco (3 ou 4 danses à gestes puis un petit jeu sympa), ensuite la remise des récompenses de la journée (jeux des animations), un petit jeu sympa pour adultes et le spectacle su soir (thème). Pour les courageux il y a la disco du coté de l’asia, mais là… nous dormions !!!!! (le plus jeune a passé presque toutes les fin de spectacles endormi !!!) Il y a eu un grand moment pour nous, c’est le spectacle de Michael Jackson, mon fils est fan fan fan, c’était magique !

La piscine est bien grande, nous ne nous y sommes jamais sentis à l’étroit. Mes enfants, à mon grand désespoir l’ont adoré ! pas de sable qui colle, pas d’eau salée !!!!! un rêve qui s’écroule !!!! vive la nouvelle génération !!!!! Avouez que ça fait mal pour une mère, les emmener à la mer des caraïbes et les entendre vouloir passer leur temps à la piscine !!!!!

Non, sans rire, la plage est superbe, peut-être un peu moins que je ne l’imaginais

Car je la voyais plus transparente (l’eau en tout cas…) il faut avancer de plus d’une quinzaine de mètres pour pouvoir faire du tuba, mais l’eau est très propre et claire, c’est juste les remous du sable qui rendent l’eau un peu plus trouble pour le tuba….

Par contre derrière le ponton il y a moyen d’en faire dès le bord, et c’est déjà géant !

Il y a beaucoup de places à l’ombre, c’est à noter car le soleil sympathise très vite et les indices 60 de chez nous font la grimace !!!!

Nous avons fait 2 magnifiques excursions « la palmilla » et le parc naturel de « Los Haitises » une beauté à couper le souffle !!!!!! par contre elles sont hyper hyper chères !!!!

Nous avons passés de magnifiques vacances, un vrai rêve !!!! Même mon mari qui n’aime pas vraiment les vacances s’y est plu et parle d’y retourner un jour ;-) c’est vous dire…

Je suis à votre disposition pour des questions plus précises concernant l'hôtel, je trouve qu'il mérite bien qu'on rétablisse un peu sa réputation 😉

Hi everyone, We’re revising our travel plans for January 2027. Originally, we were considering Uganda for about 14/15 days, but given the current health situation and the restrictions that might affect my partner, who’s American, we’ve decided to switch to Tanzania instead. I’m used to traveling in South Africa and organizing my trips myself, but I get the impression that planning a safari in Tanzania is quite different. I know self-drive isn’t really an option in Tanzania. So my main question is: can you organize your own itinerary and book lodges directly, then hire a local driver-guide? Or is it better to go through a local agency that handles the entire safari? For the itinerary, which parks would you recommend for a first-time visit in January? Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire, Manyara, Ruaha, Arusha, Selous… We’d also like to include Zanzibar to end the trip with a few days at the beach. Over 14/15 days, does that sound realistic or too ambitious? Finally, for flights, is it better to arrive at Kilimanjaro (JRO) or Dar es Salaam (DAR) based on the itinerary we’re considering? Thanks in advance for your feedback, especially on the best way to organize the safari and which parks to prioritize in January!

I couldn’t find any recent posts on this topic, so I thought I’d create a new one. We’ve just started planning our family trip to Vietnam this coming August. We’d like to travel from North to South, starting in Hanoi and ending in Ho Chi Minh.

Usually, we rent a car when we arrive and manage on our own. But I get the feeling that in Vietnam, it’s more complicated... It seems like the only option we have is to rent a car with a driver? Is that really the case?

I’m thinking of starting with a cruise in Halong Bay since we arrive on my partner’s birthday, and I wanted a beautiful setting to celebrate it. So, is the option of having a driver wait for 2 days while we’re on the cruise really feasible?

The rest of the itinerary isn’t planned at all yet. I’d love to hear your tips. We’re traveling from August 8th (morning) to the 26th (afternoon).

I’m looking for info on shipping my vehicle by sea—possibly to Uruguay or another destination, as I haven’t finalized anything yet. How do you get visas for the countries I’ll be crossing: Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Chile? Are they e-Visas, obtained at the border, or through embassies? Hi everyone! 🙂 My partner (who’s a teacher—hence the summer holidays) and I are heading to Eastern India for 23 days in July. This is my 5th trip to India, but her first.

We fly into Delhi on July 7th and leave from Delhi on the 23rd (since our flight to Kolkata arrived late at night, and I wanted to show Agra and Varanasi to my partner).

We love getting off the beaten track and meeting people, so we’ll mostly be taking the train.

Here’s what we’re planning:

- **DELHI**: 1 night on the way (short because the plane is supposed to land at 01:55), then we take the train at 13:00 - **GWALIOR**: 3 nights, including a day trip to **AGRA** by train to see the Taj Mahal and the Red Fort (I find Agra too touristy to stay overnight). Otherwise, in Gwalior, the Fort, the temples, the Man Mandir Palace, and the Jai Vilas Palace if we have time. - **ORCHHA**: 2 nights... *maybe skip this to spend more time in VARANASI?* - **VARANASI**: overnight train + 3 nights, the Ghats, temples... maybe a day trip to **SARNATH**. - **KOLKATA**: overnight train + 3 nights. Maybe a countryside excursion to the ashram in Channa. *- Here we’re hesitating over 2 nights: either 2 nights in **SHANTINIKETAN** with a visit to **CHANNA** on the way, or a 2-day excursion to the **SUNDARBAN** nature park. But is it worth it in July during the monsoon?* - **PURI**: overnight train + 4 nights. *We’re planning to do everything from Puri, as it seems nicer than staying in BHUBANESWAR. What do you think?* Visit **KONARK** and **CHILIKA LAKE**. *Is it worth visiting Chilika Lake this season? Another question: can you swim in Puri, or is it too dangerous (waves)?* - Train to **BHUBANESWAR**, then a flight from BHUBANESWAR to **DELHI**, - 2 nights in **DELHI**, visiting Jama Masjid, and *either Humayun’s Tomb, Safdarjung’s Tomb, or Qutb Minar.*

Back to Paris. Total: 23 nights.

Here I am, 80 years old with two trips to Egypt already under my belt, but I still dream of deserts and a bit of adventure. So, I’ve bought my flight ticket for March 4th, returning on the 18th (arrival in Cairo). My itinerary: 05.03. GEM 06.03. FAYUM OASIS WITH THE VALLEY OF THE WHALES 07. & 08.03. WHITE AND BLACK DESERT 9 & 10.03. ALEXANDRIA, DEPARTURE IN THE EVENING FOR SIWA 11-13.03. SIWA, DEPARTURE IN THE EVENING FOR CAIRO 14-18.03. CAIRO THE ITINERARY IS MORE OR LESS SET.

Since desert trips can’t be done alone, I’m looking for a travel companion (male or female) for these parts of the trip, but I’m also open to sharing the entire journey. Everything’s negotiable as long as everyone’s clear about what they do or don’t want to do. If anyone’s interested in this itinerary, you can contact me via private message so we can get to know each other and see if our plans align. Just so you know, these desert trips are done with a 4x4, driver, guide, and all the logistics that come with it. All of that comes at a price, which is quite high if you’re traveling solo—that’s why sharing makes sense. Plus, traveling as a pair or even a trio is great for sharing the emotions of the journey.

I’ve got a lot of travel experience, and even at 80, I’m still sharp and full of enthusiasm to start this trip, which I hope won’t be my last.

I’ll be riding a mechanical touring bike, no electric assist, and I’d like to keep a relaxed pace, between 50 and 80 km per day, depending on how I feel, the weather, and the people I meet along the way. I’ve traveled by bike before, but never for this long—it’s a fun challenge I’m setting for myself, no pressure, just to enjoy the journey and the experience. I haven’t finalized my itinerary yet, but my plan is to spend 2 nights in Mumbai (hotel booked in Colaba), a few nights in Nashik, and then head down to Gokarna. I’m a young-at-heart sixty-something who stays very active and loves traveling. This will be my third trip to "southern" India, so I know what to expect in terms of cultural differences. Plus, my native language is English, so I have no trouble understanding or being understood, no matter the accent over there. I’m looking for participants to form a group of 5 to 6 people for a safari in Tanzania during the dry season in January or even February 2026. There are already two of us. This period is ideal for the Great Migration (when animals cross into Kenya, including wildebeest and zebras, with predators like lions around).

Duration: about one week. A 13-day option is available, but it’s more expensive.

Approximate price: 3500 € (flights included).

You can either go through an agency (local or not) or directly contact a guide (like the SO GUIDES association, for example). I have a contact with a guide who has received very positive reviews.

I won’t go into all the details yet. The first step is to form a group so we can negotiate with a provider. After that, we’ll communicate and make decisions together.

**8-DAY/7-NIGHT WILD ADVENTURE SAFARI**

**Day 1: ARRIVAL AND TRANSFER** Welcome at Kilimanjaro Airport and transfer to Arusha. Overnight at Green Mountain Hotel (breakfast included).

**Day 2: HIKE ON THE TRAILS OF KILIMANJARO** Pickup from your hotel in Arusha to Moshi Materuni village at the foot of Kilimanjaro. Start a day hike to the impressive waterfalls in one of the country’s highest regions, where glacial, crystal-clear water cascades from 70 meters high. The beautiful trail leads to Materuni Waterfalls at 2,500 meters altitude. To reach them, you’ll cross valleys and hills covered in tropical forest, coffee, avocado, and banana plantations. On clear days, you’ll enjoy a breathtaking view of Kibo, Kilimanjaro’s highest peak. You’ll also learn how to prepare and taste coffee. In the evening, return to Arusha for an overnight stay at Green Mountain Hotel.

**Day 3: HIKE IN A MAASAI VILLAGE** After breakfast around 8:30 AM, you’ll be picked up from your hotel for a walking safari in the wild village. Visit local primary schools, meet traditional healers, and learn about their techniques. You’ll also visit one of the local livestock markets. Dinner and overnight at the Maasai village Boma house.

**Day 4: WILDLIFE IN 4X4 ALONG THE TARANGIRE RIVER** Around 8 AM, pickup from your hotel in Arusha for a 2-hour drive to Tarangire National Park for a day of wildlife viewing. The park is famous for its dense wildlife along the Tarangire River. It’s home to a large number of elephants in the northern circuit and over 550 bird species. You’ll also spot herds of impalas, hartebeests, wildebeests, kudus, oryxes, gerenuks, zebras, buffaloes, and giraffes. Predators like lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas are also present, along with massive African baobabs. Dinner and overnight at Lake Manyara Fig Tree Lodge.

**Day 5: LAKE MANYARA PARK – WILDLIFE VIEWING IN THE RIFT VALLEY** Around 8 AM, depart from your camp to Lake Manyara Park (at the foot of a 600-meter escarpment in the Great Rift Valley) for a day of safaris. You’ll see giraffes, buffaloes, baboon troops, tree-climbing lions, and many other animals. Dinner and overnight at Lake Manyara Fig Tree Lodge.

**Day 6: WILDLIFE IN SERENGETI** In the morning, drive for 5 hours to the stunning Serengeti National Park, passing through the Olduvai Gorge archaeological site. This park is arguably the world’s most famous wildlife reserve, home to over 3 million large mammals. You’ll quickly spot the “Big Five”: buffaloes, elephants, black rhinos in the Moru Kopjes, lions, and leopards. Over 500 bird species have been recorded here. You’ll also witness the spectacular wildebeest migration in the western Serengeti. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Nyani Camp.

**Day 7: MAGNIFICENT SUNRISE SAFARI IN SERENGETI** Enjoy a stunning sunrise safari in the golden savanna of the Serengeti’s endless plains, all day long, following the animals’ movements. Spend the night at the camp and share your incredible experience so far at Serengeti Nyani Camp.

**Day 8: MAJESTIC EXCURSION IN THE SERENGETI PLAINS** Wake up at 6 AM for coffee at the camp, then head out for a sunrise safari in the Serengeti. Our guide will take you to the best spots to admire the sunrise and observe predators, as many of them, like lions, are most active at this time of day. Return to camp around 10 AM for brunch, then load your belongings into the jeep for a 2-hour safari en route to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Simba Lodge.

**Day 9: SPECTACULAR EXCURSION TO NGORONGORO CRATER** Shortly after breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a sunrise safari in the world’s largest uninterrupted caldera, surrounded by steep walls rising 610 meters from the crater floor. This natural wonder is 19.2 km in diameter and covers 304 km². You’ll explore the area on safari and spot rare species like black rhinos, wildebeests, giraffes, ostriches, bustards, lions, cheetahs, and flamingos in the Soda Lake. In the afternoon, return to Arusha, arriving in the evening for your private activities.

**RATES:** The package price is 1,800 USD per person in a double room. Since the guide doesn’t handle flight tickets, we’ll need to arrange those ourselves.

You’ll need to add around 1200 €, bringing the total to 3000 €. This is the price for an independent guide. For a travel agency, you’d need to budget at least 3600 €. Plus, with the guide, we get an extra day of activities compared to an agency’s offer.
