Je me conecte souvent sur ce forum mais je n'y ai pas trouvé de renseignements sur un hotel sympa à bangkok accessible assez facilement de l'aéroport par le chao praya ou le sky train...En fait nous arriverons de Krabi vers 12h30 puis je laisse ma famille à l'aéroport internationnal vers 22 h et doit revenir le lendemain pour un vol sur luang prabang à 11h30 ...Ayant une après midi à passer sur BGK je pensais descendre le chao praya avnt de raccompagner la famille sur l'aéroport et trouver un hotel assez facile d'accès pour éviter de rater mon vol sur le Laos le lendemain ...Merci de vos infos ...

Je pars pour 5 mois, dont 3 en Asie au mois de novembre. Je commencerai par un mois au Laos. Mon "problème" est que je ne sais par où commencer. J'arriverai là-bas par l'endroit près de Ventiane (dont je ne me souviens plus le nom). Après ça je pensais faire le nord et redescendre sur le sud. Est ce un projet réalisable? Merci de me donner vos propositions d'itinéraires et vos coup de coeur. Et pourquoi pas, également ce que vous me déconseillez fortement.😛

D'autre part, j'aimerai bcp sortir des sentiers battus. Ceux qui l ont expérimenté peuvent-ils me dire où ils sont allés et comment? Faut-il vraiment avoir une tente pour cela?

je cherche des infos sur la route qui va de Kanchanaburi à Mae Sot en passant par Um Phang, je ne sait pas si elle est pratiquable entre Sangkhlaburi et Um Phang, si non qu'elle est la meilleur solution pour rejoindre Kanchanaburi à Mae Sot ?

nous prévoyons un voyage en thailande en janvier 2004 avec nos enfants de 6 et 8 ans, et contrairement à la plupart des gens, je ne suis pas spécialement attirée par le sud du pays, mais bien plus par le nord.

Nous resterons 4 petites semaines, mais cela n'est il pas trop long pour se cantonner au Nord seulement ?

Quels conseils pour visiter cette région ?

Une extension au Laos, voir même jusqu'en Chine pourrat-elle être envisageable ? ou au Cambodge ?

Je souhaite partir pour environ deux mois de mi juillet à mi septembre pour un tour Thailande - Cambodge - Laos - Vietnam. Deux mois sont-ils suffisants ? J'aimerais partager mon temps entre plages paradisiaques (plongée...) si possible loin des hordes de touristes et sites permettant la découverte culturelle. Pouvez vous me donner des conseils d'itinéraires et des conseils pratiques (notamment pour passer d'un pays à l'autre, se loger, se vacciner, etc) et me dire quel budget prévoir ? J'ai souvent voyagé en réservant à l'avance avec des agences local, que ce soit le séjour complet ou une partie seulement, et cela surtout pour la langue car je parle très peu anglais.

Et j'aimerai partir en Thailande, Laos et rejoindre Hanoi pandant la periode des fêtes de fin d'année, et là j'aimerai y aller tout seul sans agence.

Donc je me pose quelques questions, je dispose de 15 jours et pas un de plus.

je pensais d'abord réserver avant mon départ le train couchette Bangkok - Chiang Mai, puis le Slow boat Houeixai - Luang Prabang, ainsi que les vols Luang-Prabang - Vientian et Vientiane - Hanoi.

Ma questions est la suivante : pensez-vous qu'il est facile de rejoindre les differents point à date prévue, en voyagant par mes propres moyens ?

Nos billet d'avion sont acheté depuis mai dernier. Il s'agit de notre 3e périples en Asie du Sud - Est, le 2e en Thailande. On ajustera que je me dit. Au diable (pour cette fois) les treks du nord et du Laos (Je salivait à l'idée de faire Vientiane-Vang Vien-Luang Phrabang) mais bon.

Hi there, I’m a 67-year-old woman living in Belgium, in good health. I’m looking for female or male travel companion(s) for a trip to Laos lasting 3 to 4 weeks max, preferably this year still—departure in October, returning by 15/11/26 at the latest. Possible dates also from 29/01/27 to 15/03 at the latest, still for 3 to 4 weeks. Departure from Brussels, Paris, or another airport depending on the price. We could also meet up there. The goal is to travel relaxed using public transport where possible, visiting places like Luang Prabang and its surroundings, Vientiane and what there is to see around it, Vang Vieng, the Bolaven Plateau, the 4,000 Islands, the Plain of Jars, ethnic villages, Nong Khiaw, going up or down the Mekong, Muang Sing, and more depending on mutual interests. No big treks or long hikes, though we could arrange a day or two if we feel like it. The itinerary will be planned together without setting anything in stone, so we can stay flexible and follow our moods without wondering every morning what we’ll do that day. Looking for clean accommodations like guesthouses, with private bathrooms, and fans rather than AC. Shared rooms are an option. It would be great to meet beforehand if possible, otherwise via video call. Looking forward to hearing from you!

Departure is fast approaching. The decision is made—we’ll be returning to Laos via the north. We land at BKK at 7:30 AM. Buses to Chiang Rai leave in the evening starting at 5:30 PM. We’ll head straight to Chiang Khong afterward. Now, a lot of questions remain:

What’s the most budget-friendly way to get to Mochit 2 terminal? Can we buy the bus ticket the same day at the terminal, or do we need to book it in advance? So far, all my searches point me to 12GO for reservations. Where can we leave our luggage while waiting for the bus to Chiang Rai? In Chiang Rai, where can we take the bus from Bus Terminal 2 to Bus Terminal 1? Do you know the bus number? On Thailandee.com, the price is 70 THB/person, but on 12GO, the minimum price is 17 €—can you spot the mistake?

Do we need to redo the TDAC when we return to Thailand, or will the departure one still be valid?

I need to take a sleeper train from Bangkok to Vientiane in January. I found some ticket options on 12Go Asia, but booking doesn’t seem possible at the moment. I’ve tried simulations for several dates, but no luck. I’m wondering if it’s already fully booked, if they’ve stopped selling tickets… yet 12Go still features it every day 😕

Has anyone else run into this issue? Can I find tickets on another site? (I tried Baolau, but no sleepers left for January 8th.)

Hi there, I’m planning a trip to Southeast Asia and would love to do a cruise on the Mekong. The thing is, I’m finding surprisingly little info on the topic—way less than I expected. Especially when it comes to prices, the few times I’ve managed to get a quote without doing a full booking simulation (and even then, I didn’t succeed), the costs seem way too high for me (500 €/night is way out of my budget).

Ideally, I’d love to travel the river cruise by cruise, country by country. 😇

But I’ve heard that even with an unlimited budget, it wouldn’t be possible—if only because of the dams in certain areas. And well, my budget is far from unlimited... 🤪

Cambodia? Yes, please. Laos? Yes, please. 🙂 500 €/day? No way. 🏴‍☠️

The goal of the trip is to explore the region before catching a flight to Tokyo at the end. The main difference between my two options is the order in which I’d visit Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos.

Initially, I thought about doing Malaysia > Thailand > Laos > Vietnam > Cambodia, but after looking into it, it’s tricky to get to Tokyo from Cambodia—there’s no direct flight.

Hello everyone, My wife Fanny and I, along with our three kids (ages 10, 12, and 14), are planning a two-week trip to Asia during the February break. This would be our first big family trip, and we’re looking to mix discovery, a change of scenery, some relaxation, and cultural immersion. We want to avoid overly organized tours or over-touristed destinations. Over 20 years ago, Fanny and I used to travel as a couple with backpacks, especially in India and Mongolia, but things have surely changed a lot since then. At the start of November, a bit of rest before winter will be perfect to kick off this travel journal. There aren’t many recent journals about this part of the world, so I’ll take the plunge—my way of celebrating the (unexpected) return of this forum, which has been such a big part of my life for over 15 years.

So, back to Asia at the end of 2023. After Myanmar in 2015 and Vietnam in 2018, we’ve chosen Laos this time. And when talking with friends (you know how it is—everyone asks, "So, where are you going this year?"), a couple of friends asked to join us ("You see, my wife dreams of a trip to Asia, and I dream of traveling like you, independently"). We’ve spent a week with them (and other friends) in Portugal, so we know they’re easygoing and flexible. They’ll only be with us after Christmas (due to lots of grandkids), so deal—we’re bringing them along! A new experience for us.

A new experience that’ll start with tweaking the itinerary. Originally, I planned to stay a month in Laos, but what could be more magical for my friend’s wife than discovering Asia by way of Angkor! Plus, our two daughters asked for some beach time at the end of the trip! So, it’ll be Laos and Cambodia—neither of which we’ve visited before, so no complaints there.

The route will be pretty classic, though a bit scattered to fit our dates and wishes. For us, we’ll arrive in Luang Prabang (LP) to take some time to acclimate, then a few days in the northern Laos mountains, Nong Khiaw and Muang Ngoi. Back to LP for a direct flight to Pakse. Yes, I know—so many amazing places we’ll miss along the way, but as you know, choosing means letting go... From Pakse, I’m leaving a few days open (no bookings), but I’m eyeing Champassak and the 4,000 Islands. That’s where Mariel and Naty (our friends!) will join us on December 30th. I’ve tentatively added the Bolaven Plateau loop to the plan (still no bookings). Their Laos adventure will be short—by January 3rd, we’ll cross the border into Cambodia, heading straight to Siem Reap for 5 days. Then, I’ll fulfill my promise with a magical detour to Koh Rong Sanloem via a night bus (a must-do in Asia!). On to Phnom Penh for 2 days—where our trip ends, while Mariel and Naty will stop in Bangkok for 3 days before flying home.

So, fasten your seatbelts, flight attendants at the doors, and sorry for the long intro—here we go on this Asian adventure!

Does it seem feasible and reasonable to travel to Laos (or Cambodia) as early as January or February 2025? I don’t have any precise information about the damage these countries have suffered.

Here, for example, is Beijing West Railway Station This is Beijing West Railway Station. You can submit a photo of the whole place, a part of it (inside or outside, the platforms), or a detail (like a station clock) as long as it clearly shows it’s a departure or arrival spot—such as a timetable display. En ce mois de mai propice aux défilés, surtout le 1er en temps normal (sans pandémie donc sans distanciation physique), je vous propose le sujet du concours de photo du mois « Défilés et Cortèges » avec les précautions suivantes :

Ce sera celui de participants au défilé en nombre, en extérieur, pour une cause explicite dans l'image proposée (pancarte ou slogan, costumes, décor...). Ce ne sera donc ni la déambulation d'une foule, même bigarrée, ni une file d'attente, mais un cortège de rue qu'il soit religieux, militaire, funéraire, festif, revendicatif, exprimant joie ou peine, colère ou détermination. La foule qui peut l'accompagner ne sera pas l'objet central de la photo mais son complément (prouvant son audience). Voir l'introduction de l'article Défilé sur Wikipédia : On l'aura compris : pas de défilé d'animaux, de chars, ni de roches fracturées : des gens qui se réunissent pour une cause explicite, affichant leurs costumes, leurs uniformes.

Bonjour, je vais passer 3 semaines en Thaïlande en mars, avec mon mari c’est notre premier voyage dans ce pays, nous organisons tout nous-mêmes. Avant de réserver des hôtels, j’aimerais bien savoir si notre projet est réaliste. J’ai déjà réservé la 1e nuit à Bangkok et les 5 nuits suivantes dont 3 nuits à Hua Hin pour se remettre du décalage horaire et pour faire quand même un peu de plage et 2 nuits à Phetchaburi pour voir le parc national Kaeng Krachan. Voilà ce que j’imagine pour la suite et où j’ai besoin de vos lumières : revenir à Bangkok et y rester 3-4 jours, puis le pont de la rivière Kwai (1 nuit), ensuite 2 nuits à Ayuttaya, 2 à Sukhotai, 1 à Lampang, 3 à Chiang Rai pour voir le triangle d’or, et pour finir 3 à Chiang Mai d’où nous prenons l’avion pour le Laos. Ce qui fait en tout 15 nuitées à prévoir. Ma question aux connaisseurs : faut-il rester plus longtemps à certaines places et moins à d’autres ? Comment se déplacer d’un endroit à l’autre? D’ores et déjà merci pour les réponses à venir.

Bonjour à tous Nous partons fin mars en Thaïlande rejoindre notre fille à Phetchabun, nous pensons passer quelques jours à Bangkok et visiter le parc Khao Yai, les informations sont très floues pour accéder à ce parc et comment se déplacer à l’intérieur, peut on y loger et cela merite t’il d’y rester plusieurs jours, ensuite peut-on rejoindre Phetchabun à partir du parc où nous faut-il retourner à Bangkok? Nous ne voulons pas louer de voiture, il y a trop de commentaires négatifs sur la conduite thaïlandaise, nous n’avons envie de gâcher notre séjour à cause d’un accident . Par contre , je trouve très peu d’infos sur les moyens de circuler dans la direction de Phetchabun et alentours. Je compte sur vous pour m’éclairer grâce à vos expériences. Amicalement , Chantal
