Etape à Ouray (Colorado)

Lors de notre séjour de cet été dans l'ouest américain nous avons prévu une étape d'une nuit à OURAY.
Mais j'ai trés peu d'infos sur cette ville. (rien sur ce forum et 2 lignes dans le GR !)
Quelqu'un y a-t-il déjà séjourné ?
Avez vous une adresse d'hébergement ? (camping ou motel)
A voir ? A faire ? (on devrait arriver vers 16 h et repartir le lendemain matin)merci conseils

Bonjour,J'ai fais étape au mois de septembre dernier a Ouray. je suis arrivé vers 18 heures, et reparti vers Moab le lendemain a 8 heures. Donc, je ne peux pas te renseigner sur les choses a faire.par contre je peux t'indiquer le motel ou j'ai logé: www.ourayriversideinn.com/La chambre etait correcte. je me souviens que le propriétaire organisait des balades en 4X4C'est tout ce que je peux te direBonne préparationJean-Pierre

pour nous aussi c'est une étape en allant à moab. Aviez vous réservé le motel ?
J'avais lu des histoires de bain chaud (mais je ne retrouve rien)!!! avez vous des renseignements ?Autre question sur le trajet jusqu'à moab : êtes vous passé par telluride ? et si oui durée total du trajet jusqu'à moab ?

J'ai très peu d'infos sur Ouray également, d'autant plus que je n'y ai jamais mis les pieds non plus. Je m'y arrêterai l'été prochain comme toi, la ville se situant idéalement entre Black Canyon of the Gunnison et Durango. A ce sujet, peut-être peux-tu pousser jusque là.

Re bonjour,Pour aller a Moab, je suis passé par le nord, avec la visite rapide de "Colorado National monument", et non par Telluride.Pour l'hotel, j'avais réservé une cabin, mais en arrivant, j'ai pu changé pour une chambre normal, et il y avait de la dispo (en septembre)j'ai vu aussi un hotel avec des bains exterieurs alimentés par des sources chaudes: www.hotspringsinn.com/ et www.boxcanyonouray.com/fra/index.phpJean-Pierre

Bonjour,Jolie petite ville de montagne, qui semble se refaire une santée, mieux entretenue et quelques beaux batiments restaurés, tout cela sur une durée de 10 ans. Proche du centre il y a une belle cascade dans une petite gorge très étroite (ballade sympa à pied 30mn) Box Canon Waterfalls www.ci.ouray.co.us/...page=ParksRecreation. J'avais logé et mangé à l'hotel Beaumont, un peu cher mais justifié.
Selon le sens du trajet il y a Silverton (terminus du train à vapeur de Durango) qui garde encore un certain cachet FarWest (maisons en bois d'époque, rues en terre,...). La route passe par la Red Mountain Pass col d'altitude, paysages parfois grandioses sur la montagne environnante, quelques vestiges de mines de cuivre et autre tout du long. Il y a aussi un peu plus loin (vers Moab) Telluride, touristique, bien restauré, de belles boutiques chères d'antiquités souvenirs vêtements cuirs....
Entre Moab et le Nouveau Mexique ou un retour vers l'Arizona, le passage par cette région de haute montagne verdoyante est une pause super agréable du point de vue tempèrature à certaines saisons chaudes.Patrick

moi, j'ai ADORE ce coin du Colorado
on avait "fait" Durango/Ouray via Old lime, en, puis Million dollar, arret à Silverton, tres kitch, mais à voir, puis coucher de soleil à Gunnisson, et rando au bout de la route. Nous avions diner à Montrose, au Red Barn, puis nuit à Grand Junction

J'avais envisagé quelques randos, mais un camion à 2 à l'heure ds la descente nous a racourci notre temps à Ouray
Il y a une source chaude juste avant Ouray à gauche ds un virage, c'est indiqué, et un "centre" d'eaux chaudes à la sortieCanon Waterfalls and Visitor Center
Box Canon Falls, Ouray's own wonder of the world, is the culmination of Canyon Creek narrowing and spilling thousands of gallons a minute of water over the falls. At this most spectacular geological formation, the 285 foot waterfall plummets into a narrow quartzite canyon. The walls overhang the falls by nearly 100 feet! The Ouray Ice Park, located within the canyon, provide unique winter climbing opportunities, and a chance to view world-class ice climbing competition. There are three interpretive trails in the park that range from easy to moderately difficult. The park offers picnicking, hiking, and unforgettable sightseeing. Our visitor center houses interpretive exhibits, describing the geology, wildlife, and history of the area. The park is on CR361 - off highway 550 just south of Ouray.
Admission to the Box Canon is $3.00 for adults, $1.50 for children 6 to 12 years old, and $2.50 for those over the age of 65.
Inside the town of Ouray, there are two "must see" waterfalls. Cascade Falls is on the northeast end of town, and Box Canyon Falls is located on the southwest side of town. The entrance by car is off of Highway 550 (southbound) and there is a $3 admission. Personally speaking, I think paying the $3 is well worth it!

Ton site est une mine de bons conseils et tes cartes me sont très utiles. A tel point que je suis allé cet après-midi en repérage pour m'offrir un GPS de randonnée.
Faut compter 230 € pour le Garmin Etrex venture cd. Je vais réfléchir à ça.

l'annee dernière, on avait achete un garmin en arrivant aux USA;;;;; beaucoup moins cher, chez REI (il y a des stores dans toutes les grdes villes)

ps cette année, nous faisons une boucle Las vegas Salt lake city via Moab, en restant plusieurs jours au même endroit...plus de randonnées, et - de déplacements!!
