Sosúa plagued by tropical rain showers The weather in and arround
Sosúa has been terrible over the past few days. From Friday evening onwards the rain showers have been heavy, and often. Saturday and Sunday had almost continual rain. Two depressions came directly over
Sosúa and therefore caused these extremely wet conditions. The weather forecast predicts lovely beach weather after Tuesday. The areas that had already suffered due to Tropical Storm Noel have once again been badly hit over the past few days. The government's aid programme is still not getting off the ground, and the provinces of María Trinidad Sánchez, Hato Mayor, El Seibo, La Altagracia, Monte Plata and San Pedro de Macorís have now been plagued again by flooding.
Sosúa's voluntary civil watch, led by Héctor Vásquez, is collecting items to take to the worst areas.
A lot of rain in
Sosúa Over the coming week various lorries will travel from
Sosúa, taking food, clothing and bedding to those who need it most.
Sosúa itself has only had to contend with continual rain showers. The streets are sometimes under water, but the nightlife just carries on as normal. The discos and casino are just as busy as ever.
